They say next week, that’s when we will see it at the earliest. IMO that will be pretty damn good for money none of us knew we were getting not long ago. I can use the money as much as anyone. Keeping a business and two households afloat has drained my savings. But worrying about what hour it will hit your account isn’t going to do anyone any good.
Mine updated this morning and now bars are gone with a new message saying my refund is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available. Still tax topic 152. Any ideas? Never seen that message before. And before you pass judgement my husband and I have 2 disabled children (8yr old in end stage renal failure and 5 yr old that’s deaf and autistic) so he works while I take care of the kids. Every penny counts in our house. Our son was denied a kidney transplant in GA so our refund is going to find him a kidney in another state. Just really nervous now that its gonna be audited and take 6 months.
You should feel no need to explain yourself to anyone on here.
February 21, 2019 at 10:48 am in reply to: MOST EARLY EITC & ACTC REFUND FILERS: 02/23 WMR should update with DDD. #4290459I’m in agreement except I think mine will hit my bank acct on 2/28. My last 5 returns have been deposited on Thursdays.
February 21, 2019 at 10:44 am in reply to: We have received your tax return and it is being processed. #4290439I would like to add that IMO calling is useless until after the 27th. They are going to give you a canned response most of the time. IF you get transferred to someone that can tell you something. You are just stopping them from working anyway. Flooding the phones will do nothing but slow them down. I know what it’s like to need/want your money. But be patient people. They haven’t even officially been processing returns for a full month.
February 21, 2019 at 10:35 am in reply to: We have received your tax return and it is being processed. #4290399I have nothing to prove this except gut feeling. I filed 1/14 with TA, accepted 1/16. Had Path message until the 16th. Then the We have received your return and it is being processed message the 16th. I usually have my DD in my bank acct. The Thursday after presidents day. But I usually update to a DD the Sat before on WMR. Therefore I believe I and others will update this Saturday 2/23 with a DD of next Thurs 2/28. Nothing for sure about this. Just a gut feeling and some deduction. Good luck to all.
Mine was in my account on 2/22 last year. It gave me the DDD the Sat before.
Updated to PATH message today. I am thinking I will have a DD on the 21st of Feb.
Wife and I are getting 2000 less back from Fed this year and 400 less from state. Income went up by 6000 so I suppose that’s the difference.
“Sorry I work for a tax company and 9001 means that the ss number has already been used”
IF that is true. Could it possibly be the system hasn’t been updated to the new tax year? So it thinks all these ssn’s are filing again from last year.
Most will still do a decent job. I’m sure there is a way of tracking their performance and comparing it to other years. Plus if you are at work, you might as well work. It’s not like they are doing physical labor.
It has to be a glitch. There are way too many people that have it, for it to be any real issue.
PATH returns DO get selected for early batch testing. I have been the last few years, and still get my return before Feb 25th. Now that I said that, I won’t get it until April this year.
I filed with TA last week on the 10th. I got the e-mail today that it was accepted. I have used Taxact for many years and never had a problem.
I filed on the January 10th with Tax Act. Just gut the notice it was accepted by the IRS, so they are accepting some early. I know it doesn’t mean anything. I don’t file early to get the money back early. I file early to get it done.
Filed Fed and state with Tax Act on 1/15. Fed accepted on 1/16. Woke up this morning with a 2/22 DDD. My last 6 returns have been in my account on a Thursday morning, so this fits the trend.
Technically they should be processing/updating today as the IRS themselves says mid Feb. You can’t get any more MID February than the 14th;) I have no problem waiting for an update Sat. But they always get technical when they require stuff of us…
WI refund deposited in my account early this morning. Filed 1/15, accepted 1/23.
I filed Fed and WI on 1/15/2018. Fed was accepted 1/17, state was accepted 1/23. State gave a DDD of by 2/2 yesterday 1/26/2018.
I have used TA for many years. This year for some reason their notifications are a tad slow, but not terrible. Just be patient.
I filed 1/13/17 accepted 1/15/ Hqa one bar until getting path act message around 2/1. ARound the same time as others Path msg went away. Updated last night to DD of 2/23. This makes sense as I have received my last 4 refunds in my bank on a Thursday. I have the EIC and ACTC. I filed with Tax Act and paid up front as I always do.
My thoughts are that a LOT of us with EIC and/or ACTC will be getting DD before the 27th. They aren’t going to want to try to run all of them at once. So I think we will see them scattered out between now and then. Just my thoughts, nothing concrete to prove this.
They hold the money as long as they possibly can to get every bit of interest out of it they can.
Same
IMO H&R Block should be handling all this hassle for you AND they owe you your processing fees back. You could have done it yourself with TA, TT, or similar and had your money by now.
There are so many things that are just wrong about how they are handling the PATH act returns. First of all, they have had this extra time to catch up since they could only take these returns so far. There should be no we are behind whining this year. Second. why the f#%k would it take almost 2 more damn weeks for these returns to be deposited? That makes absolutely zero sense.
Is holding the money really for fraud protection though? Every day they hold millions upon millions of dollars. Is more interest in their accounts. Sure a month of interest doesn’t add up for the normal person. But when you are talking millions or billions. I’m not saying that’s it, but I’m not saying I would doubt it either.
I wouldn’t be expecting things right on the 15th. The IRS has said for those that are held until the 15th. To not expect your return in your acct. until the week of the 27th. So probably not until the 1st week in March.
WI refund was deposited in my account this morning. That’s a week turn around for state. The IRS should follow this example.
Filed my WI on 1/18/17. Can’t remember for sure when accepted, but was within a day or so. Have a DDD of by 1/28/17. So probably tomorrow as Thursdays seems to be when WI usually does DD.
Filed and accepted 1/15/16, been at one bar since. Was finally able to order my return transcript yesterday. Checked WMR this morning and finally have a second bar and a DDD of 2/10/16. It’s great to have a DDD however I am kind of pissed that the IRS screwed the pooch right up until the end.
@texasgirl,yes I have had trouble getting on the site today. At first not able to at all, then it was slooow. Now it seems a lot better. Your info on missing bars proves one thing, there are no absolutes with the irs. I am sure I was resequenced, yet my bars have always remained at one.
FINALLY!!! Was able to order my return transcript this morning. No update on WMR still one bar and TT 152. I filed 1/15 accepted the same day. I don’t have a for sure ddd, but I am assuming it will be Weds 2/10.
So it has been said that early filing is frowned upon by the IRS and it shows by the fact that they are punishing us early filers. However isn’t that something the tax preparers/software/service we use should warn us about? I filed on the 15th using Tax Act, not because I was trying to file early. But because it was when I had time to do it. Why are the professionals not warning us against early filing? Because they don’t want to turn down the money.
it means the IRS is slacking and needs to make excuses.
Well common sense and logic do not apply to the IRS as they are a government agency. Most people, companies, and such, if behind on their work would start with the work that is the oldest and was there first and start catching up. Not the IRS.
@Gabe, You asked what resequenced meant. Basically it means we are SOL. It means that even though it was the IRS idea to accept returns early they weren’t prepared for the early filers and all the opening day filers at the same time. They added “safeguards” to protect from ID theft. Yet they didn’t use common sense in how these may slow things down. if you are resequenced you are suppose to be processed at a certain time, but the IRS is so behind they throw you into the later “bucket”. There is no process to when later may be. All we can do now is if they screw up and go over 21 days for a lot of people, and they will. We call and bitch, often and loud.
@Val, I think you are exactly right. The IRS builds redundancy into their systems, a simple hardware failure would NOT result in a wide scale shutdown.
Think about the extra interest they gain by holding millions of dollars for even a few days extra?
The IRS should really change their wording from “You should get your refund within 21 days of the date we received your return”. To, You will get your refund within 21 business day of the date we start PROCESSING your return.
@Texasgirl, if they are going to their 21 days for a lot of people they will need to get their butts in gear. 21 days from the 19th is 2/5. I have NEVER had to wait the full 21 days. It’s still a crock that people that have filed later than a lot of us have received their return or ddd.
No update AGAIN!!! Filed 1/15 accepted the same day. Really I shouldn’t be surprised. The IRS doesn’t give a shit about us, they will not face any consequences for doing a half ass job. I almost hope they go over the 21 days for a lot of people. That way they have to deal with thousands of people calling an hour and bitching at them. Good luck to all early filers still waiting. But don’t hold your breath, it is a very inept government agency we are dealing with here.
Some people are saying that regardless of when we filed/accepted, our 21 days didn’t really start until the 19th. If that’s true the IRS is already going against one of it’s own written rules. Paraphrasing it from the explanations of tax topic 152. IRS representatives can research the status of your return if. It’s been more than 21 days since you received your email acceptance notification. Now it’s not our faults that they accepted some returns early. Their own site says more than 21 days from NOTIFICATION, not when they decided to get around to working on them. If they are going to accept returns early to test their system. Those returns should be run all the way through right away. This ineptitude is inexcusable.
Return transcript still not available for me either. Filed 1/15 accepted the same day. WMR still at first bar. I really expected something by now.
If it is true that early filers are being held back, that’s not right. I filed with TA on the 15th because that’s when I had time to do it. I was under the assumption that they would hold it until the 19th when I was told the IRS was accepting returns. If the IRS was accepting returns early as a test batch for THEIR system. Then they in turn are going to punish those early filers that they needed for their test. That is total bullshit.
For those that are wondering if the hold up may have something to do with Tax Act, you may be correct. I also used TA filed and accepted 1/15 been one bar since. But if the problem was Tax Act, you would think it would show up on the state return also. I have had my state return back since 1/27/16. I really think the “problem” is the IRS. But if you think about it. If they started all returns on the 19th and we get our money by 2/5. That really isn’t too bad.
@crystal, Did they tell you what the problem was last year? Why did you have to get the advocate?
@Bill, it may be possible but it is the government, so don’t get your hopes up.
No updates for me, that figures. Odd how I filed my state at the same time with the same service (tax act) and they had my money to me days ago. I have a very basic return and pay my fees ahead so it goes right to me. Yet there are people all over getting ddd that filed a week or more after me. Although I am happy for those that are getting theirs this quickly. I just find it odd that mine seems to be at a standstill.
@mattevryone, I just tried. No dice.
@jerry, I don’t think you can order the account transcript anytime. I couldn’t order my 2015 acct trans until this morning. I couldn’t order my return transcript then, but haven’t tried since.
I filed with TA on 1/15 accepted the same day. I can not order transcript and wmr still on 1 bar.
The fee/pay up front theory isn’t bad, but I don’t think it’s correct. I paid up front through Tax Act as I always do, and no DDD yet for me. I filed on 1/15 and was accepted the same day. Like others have said though. I have received my refund before and WMR has still been at 1 bar.
Here’s a perplexing one. Yesterday I checked the WI site and I have a message that my refund will be dd by 1/31/16. It’s nice to have a general idea, but it’s a little vague. Nothing today, so i’m assuming tomorrow or Friday. Too bad the IRS isn’t as efficient as the state of WI.
@Tonya, I hope they gave you some wrong info about it always being a paper check. I checked my transcript today and I have a refund issued. I also have a cycle date that would it as being DD on next Thursday 2/26/2015.
@Tonya, I have the exact same dates as you. Form received on Feb 2cnd, I do not know when or if they started processing it yet though. My transcript also just updated that they received it on the 2cnd on Sat. Please post any updates you get here, and I will do the same.
Does anyone know if they usually start processing the IS return upon receiving? They received mine a week ago and have not started processing it. I talked to an IRS person on the phone that told me my form was received. That is how I know that much, but by looking at my transcripts they do not appear to be processing yet. If they were processing my Injured Spouse, it would appear on the transcript I assume?
The IRS received my mailed IS form on 2/2/2015. But have not even begun to process it, WTF? When they are taking your money, they seem to be able to process crap pretty damn fast.
ashley, how long does it usually take to process your Injured spouse claim? How do you know that the IRS has even received your form, or do you file it electronically? We weren’t aware there was an offset and e-filed, so once we were aware of the offset we mailed the form. Sorry about all the questions, we have just never done this before.
I filed 1/18/2014, accepted 1/26 and got a DD of 2/6 on the 2cnd of Feb. Wisconsin still says processing, but has always been faster than the fed, so will be interesting to see who deposits first.
