I have an 846 code on my transcipts with a cycle code of 20151305 and DDD of 4/20/2105. I was expecting and offset but I don’t see a code for it. Will I be receiving my entire return or can the code still be updated? Thanks

Your refund has been applied to a past due obligation such as child support, another federal agency debt, or state income tax. The Financial Management Service, who issues IRS refunds, will send you a notice informing you of the reduction.

If you do not receive the notice within two weeks:
contact the Financial Management Service at 800-304-3107.
Please read the following information related to your tax situation:

IRS I hadn’t received my refund by 4/6/2015to call the IRS again.
So, I checked my transcripts and this is what I have:
        898 Refund applied to non-IRS debt: xxxx.xx 03-30-2015 0.00
766 Reversal of refund applied to non-IRS debt 0-15-2015 -0000.00

          Rayne,

Did you have a 570 code on transcripts? I haven’t seen this code, and I don’t believe Diane has either.
I ask because you mentioned “review”. Did you have any indication you were in review, or is this their “investigation” they mention on the letter?

No movement on transcript at all past the 971 code for when the notice was issued.

Yes I had an tax advocate to help me get through my situation. But, girl I am praying for you to see some updates soon. Don’t give up because God has it under control he sees your struggles and he will get you through this.

No this does not mean you are getting anything back you must wait 8-11 weeks from the date the Injured spouse was received. Wish you the best of luck.

Totally agree.. I wouldn’t want to p*** them off at all lol… The gentleman did say that is what they are suppose to say and they will stick by the notice date… but usually funds are mailed 3-6 weeks from that date. But the man told me they have 30 days from review date to issue a check.. He told me my stuff was reviewed on Feb 18th.. takes to two weeks.. add an additional two for the manual.. he said it’s all one big process done through more then one person… so I don’t really know how it all works. The man I spoke with was awesome at telling me where I was on the review but it’s mandatory with all the id theft going on.. That I understand. I’ll pray for you and Zack… I’ll check in once a day to see where everyone is at and let you guys know where I stand..

I received a notice of deficiency for 2013 that gives me until June 2015 to appeal. Because I am still within the 90 day notice, will the IRS withhold my 2014 refund they accepted on the 4th?

IRS gives the same answer 8 to 10 weeks from notice date. I am not a patient person, but the irs is someone I choose to play nice with

To be honest.. both you and Zack need to call the IRS. Especially if your notice is 2-23… that’s ridiculous.. They are way past their 30 days.. if your transcripts don’t have any hold codes and haven’t changed or if you don’t receive anything come tomorrow afternoon I’d call…

I faxed my Form 8962 along with the 1095 A two weeks ago and I have an updated status as of this past Saturday. Even though the letter stated 4-6 weeks after receiving your fax…there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

@ Nani, congrats to you too..it seems like yours progressed very quickly. I’m so pissed because when the representative told me I can fax mines without he letter, and a whole month, nobody can tell me anything that my fax was received.. so I talked to a real nice representative on Thursday and she told me that the reason why they didn’t receive mine, because I did it without the letter. So i faxed it the right way and pray that I hear something real soon..so stressed!!!

I haven’t received my refund after my cp53a notice, hopefully soon. They all say 8-10 weeks but their deadline standards are 30 days after the date of the notice..so I’m told. After my phone call Friday with the IRS I will keep you guys up to date with any news I get. My notice was dated 3-9-15.. but received it Feb 24th.. Hopefully mine rolls in this week… been almost three months without my refund.

I went through tax payer advocate. Hardship, disconnect notices. When I called, IRS they told me 60 days to receive refund. Taxpayer advocate had me running around to sent cutoff notices, last employer had to send info of time worked and what I had contributed in taxes. Finally getting my refund 69 days later. At first you feel like they can help you get it sooner and actually be of some relief. In the long run, I think I waited an EXTRA week because they even got involved. No help whatsoever. Refund still took more than 2 months.

Hey, ya’ll. I’ve been following this thread for about a while now but haven’t commented yet. I just wanted to give my timeline of how long it took me to ( finally ) get my refund back.

                                        02/05: Filed electronically through TurboTax
                                        02/06: Accepted by the IRS
02/27: Called the IRS after waiting the typical 21 days it takes to get your refund, but was unable to get an actual person on the phone through the given phone number on the IRS website. I tried this number several times over the next few days and was never able to reach a person. At this point the bars on the WMRT were gone.
03/03: Through scouring the forums for Turbo Tax support, I found a different customer service number for the IRS and was told by a representative that I had been “randomly selected for further review” and that my taxes could take an additional 2 weeks to process.
03/18: Called the IRS back to find out where my refund was since an additional 2 weeks had passed. Was told by a representative that a letter had been sent out to me a week prior and that I should be receiving it soon. She would not tell me what the letter was about.
03/20: Received the letter that asked to send the IRS a 1095-A form ( nothing else was requested ). I faxed the form the same day, making sure to put all the required info on the cover sheet and my SNN on each page.
03/27: Called the IRS again to confirm they received my fax. I was told they did indeed receive it and that I should be getting my refund on 04/17 or sooner and to call back if I did not get it by then. The representative actually told me I would -either- be getting my refund on the 17th, or another letter requesting more info. She also said that once the forms are received by fax, it takes up to 10 days to process them and it can possibly take another 6-8 weeks to get my refund. This was also stated in the letter I received on 03/20.
04/03: Bars reappeared on WMRT, with a DDD of 04/06.
04/04: My tax return was already in my bank account as “pending for 04/06”, however the funds are already available.

I hope this helps in any way. The terrible part is the waiting, but they are working on it. The “other” number I called to reach the IRS was 1-800-829-3903, not the one listed on the IRS website. I was lucky enough to get people on the phone each time who actually seemed willing to help out. I really hope the rest of ya’ll get some answers soon and that your refunds come through! Much luck and Happy Easter!

The IRS received it on 2/17/15 and according to my tax advocate (yes I called to get one) it should be sent to me within the next 2 weeks. I will keep you updated but I have not had any movement on my transcripts for 2 weeks. The last codes that I received were 971- Notice Issued – 4/6/2015 and 971- Injured Spouse Received – 2/17/15. At least I know that I am getting something back – they kept his portion for his student loans but it just seems unfair that they can take it the same day that you are supposed to get it but I have to wait 8 or more weeks to get the money back.

Maybe next week I will have anupdate for you all.

Hey Bart. I don’t know if you remember me. I filed and was accepted 1/20. I id verified on 2/24. My account transcript updated on 2/27 with codes 150 806 570. Called irs on march 12 and a rep tells me that the hold on my refund is scheduled to be released on march 23. Called march 24 and it wasn’t released. My account transcript has a as of date of april 6. I called up the irs yesterday and a rep tells me that I have to wait up to 9 weeks from 2/24 to receive my refund. Which will put me at may 1. And then he also said that my account indicates that it may need additional reviewing and that if it does need additional reviewing that they will send me a letter. I asked him if they sent me out a letter for the additional review and he says so far no letter has gone out or is scheduled to go out. And that I can still receive my refund before may 1. What I want to know is how come he didn’t know for sure that I am under additional review? And what should I do when may 1 comes and I still don’t have my refund? Will they be able to do a referral for me once my 9 weeks are up? Any imput will be great. Thanks.

Dear Bart: We filed our taxes on 01/31/2015. We expected our return within 2 weeks. No, it was delayed beyond the 21 days. I contacted the IRS who told me that they did not receive a 1095a for my daughter who we were claiming had health insurance for the entire year. The Marketplace had failed to send the IRS the correct 1095a showing that she did have insurance for the entire year. We have contacted a tax advocate and our U.S. senator. This has been the most frustrating experience ever. Today, my status has changed to show a phone number to call with reference code #1242. We claim our 21 year old daughter as a dependent because she lives with us year round and is disabled due to ADHD. She is unemployed. We also claim her for EIC. We also claim our 17 year old son for EIC. I believe that the IRS is asking for proof of our daughter’s dependency and EIC status. And we will have to fill our 4 specific forms. I believe this will delay our refund even more. We had hoped to receive it in April. I don’t know if that’s likely now or not. Do we need to be worried about claiming our daughter as a dependent and EIC? I am really concerned and do not know how to reply when I talk with my tax advocate next week. Thanks for your help.

I am unsure if there is anything I can do other than just be patient. I filed the 6th of January was accepted the 13th was told a cp was sent on the 16th but i did not find this out until waiting the 20 days after they opened the season. My city was incorrect and somehow my correct zip code was changed which I did not get my cp 12 letter for the 1095 so the agent referred me to mail in my form 8962 to correct the issue. I of course immediately mailed in the form which i was told to mail not fax and I even asked to fax but anyways they acknowledged they received it the 17th of February, processed it the 13th of March. Was mailed a cp letter informing me they had gotten my forms and needed an additional 40 days before making a decision. I don’t understand why another 40 days? I also am unable to see my transcripts online as well as not being able to get my 2014 by mail. I talked to an agent about a week ago and he told me he did not see anything on mu profile and he mentioned the 40 days would put my refund around the 13th of April. Unsure what to do?j

I got a letter stating that all of it was offset and then filed an injured spouse claim, this is what my transcript says:

How can debt that he incurred before I knew him get taken from my portion of our return? I was also responsible for paying most of the taxes paid as I worked a lot of hours at a much better job while he mostly stayed home with our baby due to being on job-attached unemployment. Needless 90% of our taxes paid came from my check. We are about to be homeless and I am beyond mad that I didn’t file separately.

Anyways, after speaking to her she gave me the regular speech on it takes 11 weeks, blah blah blah, she said they didn’t get it till the 5th of feb, that’s the third date I’ve heard. She said that it can take till April 17th and people have been working on it. They worked on it yesterday.

How hard is it to see I made 100% of the income?

She said it’s happened to many people and she put in a referral to help get my refund. What exactly should I expect now? The man I spoke with said there isn’t any reason why my funds haven’t been mailed to me yet. He seemed kinda shocked I haven’t received it at all considering my codes. He also stated that they were at their 30 day mark and who ever was working my case prolly still has my stuff still sitting on their desk…so He put me on hold and put in a referral for the release of my funds. The have a certain time to respond to it…but it generally gets released with no hold up codes…Getting a tax advocate involved now would just put my refund on hold for an additional 4-6 weeks. I have no clue what to expect. I hope something gives soon… I’m in a bad bind enough as it is. Know your busy Bart…but when you get a chance drop me in some insight. Thx..

I filed January 29th and was accepted the same day.

                                                                                          Still stuck at code 570.

My husband has to pay for his classes by May 26th or he will be dropped.

We have five kids so it’s not that easy to just give money to colleges.

I got my date from the transcripts. If yours was completed on the 27th of March then you should be right there with me because I think mine was completed about the same time.

I called the IRS today, as instructed to do last Friday – and they couldn’t provide me any information besides that the claim to get my portion of injured spouse that they incorrectly offset is pending. We both waited well over an hour on the phone, my husband was told it should be reviewed and reprocessed soon, and mine said it could take 3-4 weeks. Funny how you could issue and release the refund last Wednesday and the debt was taken immediately, but giving back my portion due to IRS error is taking more than a week! /Rant

I received my notice CP05 stating that after April 9th my refund would be released. But since it’s getting close, I’ve been checking my transcripts almost daily and FINALLY today a different code showed up. 896 showed up with the description “Refund applied to non-IRS debt” with date of 4/20/15 and a dollar amount. What exactly does that mean? It’s not the 846 I was looking forward to.

Filed February 2 around the 20 bars went missing then got a 4464C letter. Waited two weeks and got a tax advocate. Didn’t have to show hardship I just told them my lights were about to get cut off. The tax advocate took my case march 26 turned in pay stubs and a letter from my boss proving income woke up this morning with my bars back and refund approved with a direct deposit date of April 6. So a tax advocate really does help a lot because I believe I would still be waiting. Good luck yall

We received the same vague message, however we are insured through our employee. Government insurance to boot. I haven’t been able to make contact, and getting very frustrated. How can they take an action like that with no warning, then not be available to explain. I think this was an error.

I filed and was accepted 1/23 ,the irs states my tax return began processing on 2/3 which is around the time my bars disappeared. I was able to see my transcripts for the first time 2/6. All the normal codes with code 570 at the end, no other codes following such as 971. I was told by two irs reps that I was not being reviewed. However I looked at my 2013 transcripts and I have a 922 with the date 3-16-15 next to it. I also have an as of date for interest of 3/23/15. I rcvd cp2000 on 3/19/15 with an amount owed for the previous year. I called back and was told my 2013 shouldn’t affect my 2014. Is that true? Because it looks as if it has affected my tax return and according to the irs manual if there is an open investigation on a prior year return it will affect your return. I need my refund, I didn’t know it could be held this long.

So i have been following this page for some time now, it has been one of the only thing to keep me sane during this whole ordeal! So far i have had the reversal code of 766 with our entire refund amount beside it and the 290 code with 0.00 beside of that. NO 846 code yet !! My cycle codes have changed to 20151105 and the dates for the 290 and 766 codes have 4/6/2015 beside them as well. My IS form was originally received on 2/12. The offset is mine for defaulted student loans. i did not work any last year and the entire income was that of my husbands. So with all that being said can someone give me some insight i have seen other people with the same codes and cycle dates receiving refunds. Up until yesterday every time i have called in to the irs i have gotten nothing we have all we need nothing is wrong just wait blah blah blah! I called yesterday and all of a sudden this not so pleasant or knowledgeable lady says that there is a 4 week hold on my account until April 17th. when i asked her why she said that’s just what the computer does and that my claim was completed therefore there was no “real” person to speak to as that there is no one handling my claim anymore. So i called back today spoke with a mr coleman and he said there was a split refund he could see but it was still my entire amount. he wasn’t able to explain any further what that meant only that i should possibly call the bureau of fiscal services. So I asked about a tax advocate and he told to contact one. So i did… never got to speak to an advocate per say but was told that there was “RO” on my account which meant rolling???? was told to call back next friday of there had been no change that means it may be unpostable?? I know this is long but someone PLEASE HELP!! Does this sound familiar to anyone or has it happened to anyone else?? Im trying to be patient but getting the runaround is getting old very quick!

Bars until 2/11. Today marked 2 months since I filed so I decided to make the IRS call I’ve been dreading. After being on hold an HOUR AND 15 MINUTES I finally got an answer! There was an error on my return and it was resolved as of 3/25. Which means I should be receiving my refund 6 weeks from that date. It’s a wait but I’ve been waiting 2 MONTHS! What’s another 5 weeks? I just hope they’re right because I may be moving soon and the money would be helpful. Just gotta stay positive!

I received the following message and have not seen any changes as of this morning (04/02/2015), “The Department of Revenue approved your refund on March 11, 2015. You should receive your refund in the due course of business. Thank you for your inquiry.” Sounds like some bovine scatology to me.

Only to find out two weeks later I had to verify my identity. I called the IRS number verified who I was and passed. Told me it would take 4 to 6 weeks processing time… Its now 4/2/2015 and I have yet to hear anything about my refund!!! Its frustrating but what other choice do I have have.? If I’m not mistaken, this marks week number 3 going to the 4 the week. Maybe I will hear something next week about my refund. I’m hoping it won’t take 6 weeks or 8 weeks for them to deposit my refund. I wish the IRS would stop bullshittn and let go of my money. It seems like the people they pull to verify are the ones that actually work and put in man hours to provide for this country, while it takes no time for a person that’s illegally filing to get their refund in no time!!
