FINALLY! After 12 very long weeks my tax transcripts have update! My check was mailed last friday! Should be here today! Man. I don’t think I’m going to be having my refunds direct deposited anymore! I think I will just wait the extra few weeks for a paper check! Good luck to everyone!!

So pretty much, after lots of research and talking to the IRS I’m pretty sure i have this whole situation down. When you got the notice in the mail and were given a 8-10 week time frame that was specifically for the reviewing department to determine that it wasn’t a fraud atempt on your account and for them to release your funds. They have 8-10 weeks to review your account and release your funds. If it goes past the 10 weeks then the IRS can send a referral to the reviewing department on your behalf basically telling them to hurry up. So unfortunately for you they have 30 days now to decide what they are going do. If they release your money it will be 4-6 to recieve your check after that.

So I called the IRS this morning and spoke to a rep about my cp53a notice dated 3/2/15. He told me the bank sent it back cause my name wasn’t on the account blah blah blah. He put me on hold and wrote something up to send to the department that was “researching” my account and told me they have 30 days to respond and if I haven’t heard anything to call back after 30 days have gone by. Has anyone else gone through this scenario and have any info as to what I should expect to happen?

I’m inthe exact same boat. But the 8-10 weeks doesn’t start until the date on the notice you received not the date you got it in the mail. My notice had a date of March 2nd on it. Called the IRS on the 11th, which is when the 10 weeks was up, lady told me my money was released and it would take 4-6 weeks to issue the check. She said it was done by the computer so it could be sooner. I haven’t had any updates at all on WMR or tax transcript yet.

Filed electronically and accepted 2/17. Bank rejected and sent back 2/23 Due to husband nor being on my account and it was a joint refund. Got tax advocate, who said May 11 that my “case was closed out successfully, that irs was done checking it and check should be mailed no later than May 23. Today is may 17, and I feel doubtful now I will get it, since my tax transcript now says June 1!!! Can anyone relate or explain this???

Any updates yet? Anyone else still waiting? Monday was the 10 week deadline for my March 2nd notice. Called the IRS yesterday. Lady told me they just released my money the day before and it would take 3-4 weeks to issue me a check. Why do they give a 8-10 week deadline then dont do anything for you when the deadline passes? Really frustrating….

@mgm6
Thanks for the update I’m sorry to hear that, I have a feeling it’s going to be something like that on my end also but I haven’t had a chance to get through to them, I just don’t understand why they don’t tell us that sort of thing sooner! Good grief… I hope it goes quicker than expected for you, please continue to keep me posted I will too:)

@jenny
I finally got through last night. I did have one thing that was entered incorrectly. The rep tried to fix it for me but it wouldn’t let her. She noted I would be sending in my amended return. She did say that was what was holding me up. So now we’ll see. Ill probably get my refund at the end of June now since amended returns have to be mailed in. Ugh… I just wish I would have seen it sooner so I could have fixed it earlier. -
April 28, 2015 at 5:29 pm #4111618drew
Yeah, just be patient. Even though I don’t need the 1550 I’m getting back id like to have it to blow on something stupid. Mine was rejected cause I had mine sent to my gfs card even though she followed the steps and rules that were outlined by the company and added me as an account holder Yet it was still rejected. My notice was dated 3/2. I’m just checking every Friday and if I haven’t received another notice or a date when the 10th week is up I’ll give the irs a call. It just seems random as to when people who have name mismatch or aren’t on the account get their refunds.

F*** the IRS. Seriously. Am I the only one with absolutely no update yet? My DDD was February 3rd!! What the heck is taking so long? It was just a last name mix up nothing that serious. Makes me angry that my husband and myself work hard and pay a ton into taxes just for stuff like this. Shoot I was only getting back $1400! No transcript update no WMR update. This is crazy.
Maybe I’m not doing the tax transcript thing right? You just go to get transcript, sign in, and then go to 2014 account summary right? And download the transcript??

-
April 26, 2015 at 9:56 pm #4111589Brianda Moore
It starts from the date on the notice you received. My notice was dated March 2 so the 8-10 weeks starts then.

April 26, 2015 at 3:01 am #4111579Nicole
does the 10 weeks go from the date on your Cp53a or the day you got it in the mail??

@Regina
so sorry you’re going thru this. BUT…there is a light at the end of this long tunnel. if your tax transcripts updated with a new date AND showed tax code, “846 w/ cycle date 20151505”, that means that your check will be sent first class USPS on april 24th. it will take 3-4 business days for it to arrive. if you live in the eastern part of the U.S., then your check will be mailed from Philly. if you live in the western part of the states, your check is coming from Tx (could be wrong about the latter part). on 4/24, you can contact the U.S. Treasury Dept. and provide your name, SSN, and DOB and they can confirm that your money was sent to them by the IRS and that a paper check was issued on that date. good luck! hope this helps! -
April 19, 2015 at 8:19 pm #4111455Brianda Moore
I have a feeling mine is going to be one of the select few to have a full blown audit on. Still no changes on anything. There’s only 3 weeks left until the 10 week deadline. I just don’t understand why some people have gotten a 846 code already and mine hasn’t updated. This really bites.

@Brend MooreUPDATE‼️ after two and a half seemingly never-ending months of disappointments, setbacks, and frustrations, I FINALLY HAVE MY PAPER CHECK. good luck to all of y’all!
P.S. after countless hours of researching tax codes, leaning the IRS jargon, reading hundreds of different tax topics, speaking to several different IRS agents, and learning my rights as a taxpayer, i would like to think i’m fairly knowledgeable of the process for folks whose DDD was rejected by bank due to name mismatch, monies were returned, CP53A notice sent out, etc – so, if any of y’all need any advice, please don’t hesitate to ask me.
brief overview:
filed/accepted: 1/26
approved DDD: 2/2
bank rejected monies and returned to sender: 2/5.
WMR then updated with “Take Action” ref code: 1121 –
with telephone # and extension.
received CP53A notice: 2/23
contacted IRS and was advised they were “researching” my account, could take 8-10 weeks: 2/23
contacted tax advocate: 3/30
IRS approved hardship request: 4/7
tax transcripts updated to reflect code 846 (refund issued): 4/&
paper check was mailed on 4/15
received: 4/18good luck, y’all! please don’t hesitate to reach out to me for help or questions.
God Speed,

@Biranda MooreUpdate
Good news I called the treasury department a few minutes ago to see if my check has been mailed. Well the lady told me it was mailed this morning and it is coming from Philadelphia. I will let everyone know when I actually receives it my hands. Now its time to stalk the mail man.
-
April 10, 2015 at 8:55 pm #4111255De5670
@Biranda Moore
The reason why Regina gotten the 4-27 as a receive date is because her transcript change to that because the IRS is done reviewing her account. But, that is the only movement she saw so far on her transcript. She called the IRS and they informed her they were done reviewing her account. On Monday call the IRS to see if they are done researching your account.

That’s the 10 week deadline? I’m confused. I had a a notice of 3-2 too and the 10 week deadline for that is May 11th. I have not had any update on my transcripts yet. My DD date was 2-3.
-
April 10, 2015 at 7:00 pm #4111253De5670
@Regina
@MGM6The date of April 27 is actually the deadline for them to mail the checks out. Regina you are correct you should have your check by then keep watching the transcript for an update of 846 refund issued it should be this weekend or some times next week.
-
April 10, 2015 at 6:37 pm #4111250regina
Mgm6…… we are in the same situation exactly. …i was told Wednesday by the irs that they were finished reveiwing i believe thats why my as of date changed… i believe that my check will be mailed by that date

April 10, 2015 at 2:12 pm #4111242MGM6
I received CP53a dated 3/2. I had my refund rejected on 2/11. I’ve been checking my transcripts and I noticed my as of date changed from 3/2 to 4/27. Nothing else has changed. Not sure if thats a good thing or bad. And I don’t have a TA
-
April 10, 2015 at 9:19 am #4111228zach
A 570 code does not mean its a full audit.
-
April 10, 2015 at 12:35 am #4111225Brianda Moore
Glad to hear some of you have gotten a refund mail date! The way I look at it…My notice date was 3-2, the 10 weeks is up May 11th. The letter I got stated it would take 8-10 weeks for a refund to be issued. I’m seeing a lot of you are getting a date of 4-15 for your check to be mailed. Let’s just assume it takes a week to get to you…you should receive it by 4-22. That’s only roughly 2 weeks earlier then the 10 week time frame. So it’s not that much sooner! I think if I can wait this long what’s 2 more weeks going to do??
-
April 8, 2015 at 11:30 pm #4111188bonnybleu83
GOD IS GOOD! i checked my tax transcripts and UPDATE!
code 846
TA then called and said IRS’ notes indicated that my hardship request has been approved and check would be mailed on 4/15. i know, based on the state where i reside, that the letter is coming from philly. my refund check will FINALLY be in my hands in a week. y, all, i can tell you from personal experience that obtaining a TA (if applicable, or if one qualifies) is an excellent tool in cutting waiting time in half. they are able to axon verse directly with the IRS and get answers we wouldnt otherwise know.
good like to yall! i i hope everything works out for everyone… -

UPDATE!
My transcripts updated to my amended return being accepted on 3/25. I spoke with my advocate and she stated that my refund should be released to the treasury department on Friday and my check should be kicked our next Friday! The newest date on my transcript next to my money is 4/27! I believe I should have my money by that date. Keep you updated & good luck to you all.

@Shi
didn’t you say your transcripts updated with a 570 code?! that’s not good, if so. that means that they have selected your retuen to go thru manual audit department. i was told by my advocate that, sometimes, a suspected ID fraud case (like ours in which bank sent back theft code when rejected our monies) can prompt a full-blown audit, hence code 570. have you spoken with your advocate about that since your most recent transcript update? -
April 7, 2015 at 8:26 am #4111143De5670
You can look up your state local tax advocate on the internet or you can call the tax advocate hotline which is 1-877-777-4778.

@Rachael
looks like you are in the exact same boat as @De5670, @Shi, @Brenda Moore, & myself. we all had an approved return rejected by bank due to the fact that we were not listed as account holder(s). the good thing is that we are not being “audited” nor is your account in “review”, per se. the IRS is “researching” your account due to suspected ID theft based upon the exact error code your bank sent back. your transcripts should read:
846 (refund issued)
841 (refund cancelled)
971 (notice sent)
the date to the right of the 971 code is the date the 8-10 weeks countdown starts.
If you can send in docs via fax corroborating that you are experiencing a hardship (delinquent utilities, auto repossession, eviction notices, etc) then you will be assigned a tax advocate (not always local; mine is located in OR due to influx of cases in my state) who will work on you behalf in expediting a mail date for your return. the IRS has 7-10 business days to respond to tax advocate (TA) from the date the TA sends over hardship paperwork.
and/or i would keep calling the IRS until you get someone who is helpful and gives you updated info on your case. good luck!
@Shi – i wanted to tell you that it appears they are now doing a full-blown audit on your return – based off the info you provided earlier stating that your transcripts undated with a 570 code. that is NOT good. i would contact the IRS/TA immediately to check on the status of that. my TA told me that everything should go smoothly with my hardship request UNLESS the IRS decided to actually audit – which takes an additional 2 months. let me know what your TA says when you talk with them about your updated tax code.
@De5670. please keep us updated. looks like there is a glimmer of hope for you, my friend. good luck! -
April 1, 2015 at 5:54 am #4110929Brianda Moore
Nothing to really update on my end. It’s been 4 weeks already. Pretty disappointed nothing has changed on WMR or my transcripts. I don’t qualify for a TA unfortunately. So I have to sit here and wait. I thought for sure it wouldn’t take the whole 8-10 weeks but it sure is looking that way :/
-
March 31, 2015 at 8:56 pm #4110924Shi
@beth
She should still try it. I called the TA hotline and the hotline stated I didnt qualify for an advocate and I called my local office and they helped me more than anyone ever has in regards to the IRS. If I would’ve called for an advocate in the beginning I would have had my check a lonnnnnggggg time ago. I just got in touch with an advocate two weeks ago and I already have the IRS releasing my funds to a paper check. If I wouldve called right after I received my CP53A notice I would have my money now but to each its own. If I wouldve never contacted an advocate than I’d be waiting until May 11th for something to happen with my account but fortunately thats not my case :) You can sit around and wait the full 8 to 10 weeks if you want to. Have a good day!
Be sure to call your local TA to see what you qualify for it doesnt hurt to check.

Rachel, if you can see your transcripts online, you can see a 971 code with a date. Thats a notice issued that the bank rejected your deposit. From there it goes into a review process and its a 8-10 week wait. Sorry

Hi I found out today that on 3/25/15 my bank returned my refund because my husbands name wasn’t on the account with me. I files on 1/30/15 can’t believe this is all just happening. Anyways does anyone know how long it will now take? The hotline lady said as long as my name and SS match it should be okay but said she couldn’t give me a time frame? Does anyone know?

UPDATE!
Good Morning,
My transcript has updated to 4/20/15 but the new code listed is 570 and is asking for additional account information pending. I believe this is because I had to correct my return due to receiving an additional W2 form. I will keep you guys posted hopefully I hear something from my TA today in regards to what this means. Good Luck to you all.

@bonnybleu83Update!
I did not speak with my TA however I did call the hotline because my TA is off on Mondays and was told that my TA pushed thru my verifcation and the IRS sent out paperwork and received it back so the next step is that they release my funds so im hoping to hear good news from my TA sometime this week.
I have seen your situation on the fb version of i got my refund as far as the id verify but now it seems as if you are going to be in the same situation as us because you arent on your husbands account you should be receiving a CP53A notice or a CP53 something notice. Hopefully its just the CP53 notice but I would wait until the date it says to call the IRS to say what they are going to do. Since youve already been under manual review I would hope they would just send you a CP53 notice with your check following shortly after the fact. The CP53A notice is when it takes 8 to 10 weeks to receive your refund check if you receive a CP53A notice, get in touch with your LOCAL Tax Advocate service ASAP! Hope this helps you.

So I have been through the ringer this tax season and can’t seem to find anyone wit a situation like mine. I f/a 1/20 it went through to a ddd of 2/11, the 11th came and went and it updated to a refund cancelled wit an 1121 reference code…. it took what seemed like forever for that to go away… March the 2nd i verified my id online bc i was told that might b the issue. it went through or seemed like it did, spoke to someone a few days later she said she was doing a referral for release of my refund, i got a letter on the 4th dated feb 26th saying i needed to call and verify my id i called a million times, until i finally got through last friday, verified and it went through (so i don’t know that it ever went through online) any way i got an update this past friday saying 846 refund issued and wmr updated sat 2 bars, wit a ddd of 4/1, so i call the bank (which is in my husband’s name we are separated, but i use his account), and it’s been rejected (was rejected march 27th before it was even supposed to deposit, now i have no idea what’s going to happen, they’ve already done a full manual review… so now what ppl are saying 1 week and others are sayin 8-10 but i can’t find anyone who’s already been through the review process and then had it rejected… so i am just wondering if there is anyone in my situation, who could provide me wit some insight!

@ShiUpdate This Morning!
I just got a call from my tax advocate she gave me a status on my refund. She said the IRS verified what they needed to verified they went right ahead released my refund. She said the reason why I haven’t saw an update yet was because it took a week to process from a dd to a paper check. She said she will call me next Wednesday on the 8th of April with a mail date. No I haven’t heard from her today, but I called the tax advocate hotline. And, the man told me that Martinez had noted on the case that I had faxed over my information the 23rd of March. I don’t know who Martinez is, but my tax advocate name is Tanisha Chamberlain and she received my information on the 10th because that is what she told me last week. So, I guess that must be somebody she had to faxed it to on my behalf. The man told it also noted that contact date is 3-30 to get back with me with an update. That is all I know right now.

@De5670
@bonnybleu83I filed with one dependent and no she didnt say that it was because of fraud or because the bank rejected my return. I told her personally about the bank rejecting my return and she stated it was possibly returned because i need to provide a wage verification because of who my employer is. I will update hopefully by the 5th or 8th depending on when she calls me.
Good luck to you as well. -
March 26, 2015 at 1:57 pm #4110803bonnybleu83
@De5670
@Shiit’s so frustrating that we paid taxes ALL year long and our refunds get approved. then, the “manual” research gives the IRS an excuse to scrutinize over every aspect of an already approved return. BUT…@De5670 – to answer your question – yes, it’s ridiculous that you have got to fax in docs for credits already approved on your return. BUT…once the IRS started manually researching our accounts, that gave them power to be able to go back and research anything they wanted to. which is why they are now questioning YOUE educ. credits. my advocate told me that all we could do was hope that a manual “research” of the account does not turn into an actual audit – bc then it will be 2-4 months. just waiting until 1st or 2nd week in april when the IRS has had their mandated 7-10 day time to reply to hardship request.
question –
1. did yall file w/ any dependents?
2. did your advocate specify that the initial reason our refunds were held was due to suspected ID fraud bc of bank rejecting refund?
please remember to post when yalls advocate lets yalls kno if the hardship request was approved by IRS.
good luck! -
March 25, 2015 at 10:28 am #4110772Shi
@De5670
@bonnybleu83Yes my TA explained to me that I needed to fax in my wage verification and any missed w2 forms as well as an amended return. The IRS didnt tell me anything of the sort so that was my situation. I am just waiting on my TA to correspond with me on the next step from her sending all of this information into the IRS.
-
March 24, 2015 at 6:56 pm #4110719De5670
@bonnybleu83
@ShiYou are correct yes the bank rejected my refund because of mismatched name. When I got the TA she researched my account, and she found that the IRS was done reviewing the account on 2-26-15. But, she said what the extra hold up is because of the education credit I claimed. However, I didn’t know nothing about the education credit being the hold up until the TA research my account because as I know the reason for the hold up was because the bank rejected the refund and how they labeled it. But, my question is why the IRS would hold up my refund for the education credit when they approved the refund to be direct deposit in the first? So, now that the bank rejected the refund and because the way the bank labeled it now the IRS has questions about the education credit. So, that the bottom line to my story.
-
March 24, 2015 at 6:05 pm #4110717bonnybleu83
@De5670
@Shii also see where y’all faxed info corroborating educational credits claimed on returns, and faxes in wage verification docs. was this something your advocate asked you to send in after they looked at your individual returns, during the time when you were requesting a hardship refund? the reason i am asking is because our refunds were held for the same reason – bank rejected DDD due to our names not being on account….
i wasn’t asked to submit anything but hardship docs….
she did confirm that my retuen was being “researched” because of suspected ID fraud based on the bogus reject code my stupid green dot bank sent back to IRS. -
March 24, 2015 at 5:57 pm #4110716bonnybleu83
@Shi
@De5670i spoke AT LENGTH with my tax advocate about the hardship process from start to finish (likelihood of IRS approving, timeframe until check could be mailed, current status of return, best case & worst case scenarios – the whole nine yards). and i also researched online. i think we have been given some misinformation about the hardship request and how the process works……
once you fax over all requested docs to your assigned tax advocate, they, in turn, fill out paperwork and send forms to IRS. The next day, IRS opens a case based on hardship info sent by tax advocate on our behalf . @Shi – you were right that it does take 7-10 business for IRS to make a decision. but, i think a lot of us (including myself) were under the impression that check was mailed shortly after that. NOT TRUE. after the 7-10 business days, the IRS contacts our advocates and advises IF the hardship was even approved. best case scenario – hardship is approved and a check will be put into the system and cut within 1 week from date of hardship decision. BUT…my tax advocate let me know that the IRS is VERY strict about hardship requests and that there is a 50/50 chance it will or won’t be approved. also, the advocate told me that she will not know the extent to which IRS is researching our accounts until they send her info after the 7-10 days. she said that IRS may request additional info IF they randomly select the return to go to examination dept (manual AUDIT, worst case scenario). she said, If that’s the case, it would be 2-4 months before a check could be issued IF everything checked out. she told me that Georgia is so backed up with advocacy claims that my case was routed to her in Oregon. she was very nice, though. and told me to hope for the best, in that my check would arrive in 2-3 weeks from yesterday…
just giving yall a heads up. i will have a better idea about what’s going to happen once yalls 7-10 day timeframe is up and yalls advocate tells y’all the response from the IRS…
there is an end in sight! just hoping and praying that it’s in our favours… -

@ReginaGood Morning,
Spoke with my advocate on friday after she received the paperwork as far as my hardship and wage verification. I had to file an amended return due to not receiving a w2 form by the time i filed. My TA faxed all of my information over today and she said that the IRS has 10 business days to respond to her. After the 7th of April my funds should be released but I have an offset so the money has to be sent to the Department of Treasury and then to me. She said I should receive my money hopefully by the 3rd week of April. Ive waited this long three more weeks cant hurt :) keep me posted

@Biranda MooreKnow haven’t heard anything from my advocate yet to when I will be receiving my check in the mail. I did call her last week to see if she received the information I faxed to her, and her response was yes. But, she didn’t say whether she sent the information on over to the IRS. Well in the beginning when she first called me on March 9th she stated I wouldn’t be hearing from her until the 30th of March or before. Also, she did say once she have the release my money it would take a week to update. So, probably would hear something from her this week she did say on the 30th or before the 30th.

@ReginaUPDATE – i spoke with my tax advocate today and she was bases out of OR. she was ️VERY kind and helpful. i faxed over my electric notice and she stayed in the ofc until she received it and confirmed she was sending hardship request to IRS on this date. she stated that, once IRS received a hardship request, they have 7-10 business days (2 weeks roughly) to respond to advocate regarding status of request. my advocate told me that the IRS is strict about approving such requests. but she said she was going to do everything she could to get approved. said she would call me 2nd week of april after hearing from IRS. she said ️best case scenario – IRS approves the request and money will be here in 2-3 weeks from today’s date. OR, worse-case scenario – IRS could possibly send my return to examination (review dept) and then i’m screwed because it will be 2-4 months. so, it’s just a waiting game right now…

@ReginaSo I spoke with my TA today and she stated that the reason why my funds are on hold is because they need wage verification from my current employer because they are a private owned company. So therefore, I have to fax over my wage verification W2 form and file a corrected tax return because I received my unemployment tax return after I filed. I am going to personally go to the IRS building tomorrow that way I have no discrepancies and I can attempt to get this handled and my money in my possession a hell of a lot faster. Espcecially with tomorrow being Friday I do not want to wait until Monday to hear anything new.

Well I was a sign to advocate on 3-5, but my advocate didn’t call me until 3-9. I faxed over everything she needed on 3-10. Now when I spoked to her on yesterday to see if she received everything she told me yes she said if she needed anything else she would let me know. So, I apparently if the advocate doesn’t need anything else the next step would be getting our money. But, she did tell me after faxing all my information it would only take a week to put my money back into the system. From what I heard the taxpayer advocate has 30 days to get your money, so your advocate will give you a date to when he or she will be calling you back like my advocate told me she will call me back on or before 3-30. What I have also noticed is those people who tax returns get pulled for ever reason those are the ones who will see the updates and also those who direct deposit was rejected because of wrong account number. Other people like us I have notice their advocate will let them know their mail date. Now some people have said that the transcript will update for us but not WMR. So, I don’t know how true.

The next step that the tax advocate will tell you is to fax over like something to prove your identity and he or she will tell you to fax over your eviction notice and disconnection notice for your utilities to show your hardship.But, it is good that you know what else was the hold up because the IRS was going to never tell us anything.

@BrendaMooreOkay. Called the taxpayer Advocate phone number. Spoke with someone and gave all my info regarding my delayed tax return. Lady provided me with a 5 digit pin # and told me she was transferring me to 877-275-8271. I then spoke with someone and provided my 5 digit pin he gave me and he was able to pull up my information. explained my hardship(s) – eviction & electric disconnection – and he took the information down and stated a tax advocate would be contacting me on 3/23.the advocate i spoke with also provided me with this ref #: 5965010. and gave me this phone #:
404-338-8899 (not sure what this number is – but the area code is Atlanta-based, and I reside in GA – so im assuming it’s the state-based tax advocate contact #.
was this yalls experience when yall initially contacted the tax advocate service?? what will be the next step when te advocate calls me?
any advice or help is appreciated. so frustrated. but happy that I have the tax advocate working for us. the advocate did say that the delay is identity-theft related bc of teying to deposit in account that did not hVe my name on it. and they said all the IRS is doing is trying to prove that my SSN and name attached to tax return matches up with refund amount… -

@DE5670The first advocate that I spoke to I told her about my situation and she was taking my information and then just hung up the phone and I could not get her back on the line. The second one I spoke to didnt even listen to my full story just said that I was trying to find out whats going on with my refund and transferred me to the IRS. The last lady I spoke to I asked her to listen to my full story, explained to her about my hardships as far as repossessions and evictions but she said thats not a hardship and the TA office isnt required to help everybody. She explained that she was only able to assist with telling me if there was any activity on my account as a COURTESY only and we disconnected. I am beyond frustrated because I have 17 days to find a place to stay otherwise me and my daughter will be on the streets. I am working but with me being past due on most bills I am pretty much just playing catch up. Not enough time to save money well not enough money to save money.

Those who have tried a tax advocate…. I had one because my return was in Error Resolution and I was looking at a 6 week wait.
I called the Kansas City, MO Advocate office directly (find the direct # for your state on the IRS website). I left a voice mail at like 11 and was called back in 2 hours. I was OVERLY polite and just inquired if they could help me. I explained I had just lost my job.The first person I spoke to got everything moving, I never spoke to my advocate (besides a generic form letter advising I should hope to have my return by 4/15), but it all got fixed up. No faxing, no hassles.
I know results may vary, but maybe try calling your local state office directly instead?
Good luck!

@Brianda MooreThanks for the update, @De5670. what is the topic name of the forum where you saw this, if you don’t mind my asking? Someone who has is in our situation has already gotten their monies?? WOW. that means we need to, if we haven’t already, secure a tax advocate. seems like they are really expediting returns, especially ones where they were initially approved, but rejected by bank. I got a dispossessory notice and have a court date with magistrate this upcoming tuesday, the auto company is trying to repossess my vehicle, received s notice about light disconnect, and i am on the verge of losing everything. I have several hardships right now – the only challenge, as it relates to my tax return, is that my fiancé’s name was only listed on dispossessory notice (one reason I am contesting in court because I am a legal tenant, as well – which, I’m hoping the Judge will see as a technicality). the only thing in my name is the electric bill.i need my tax monies so bad. this is so frustrating. I’m not working feverishly on this so I can book a trip to Disneyland…I really need my money – much like y’all, I’m sure.
As of today, no movement on my transcripts. Same cycle date, same “As Of” date. same codes. will contact tX advocate tomorrow and see what I can accomplish.
Let me know if anyone else has any updates or progress.
Thanks!
p.s. keep in mind, that the 8-10 weeks begins the day the notice was mailed out – not the day of the bank reject.
hope y’all have a good day. -

I spoke with a person at the IRS today & I was told that the Treasury office has my funds because of an offset and to call their number. I called but they are closed due to the weather i guess. So I called the IRS back and they told me pretty much that I just need to wait it out, no new notes on my case file but that it should take a couple of weeks. So I’m just going to follow DE5670’s lead and see if anything comes by the 18th. If not then I will call them again but I am going to call the offset division again as well until I get thru to them. But, she said she called yesterday after receiving her letter in the mail dated 3-2 and the man told her they are processing her refund he also informed her that after a refund reject they 5 weeks to kick a check a check out to her from the original deposit date which was 2-10 for her. She also said nothing has updated for her on WMR or the transcript. Also, she stated she asked could she have her check next week the man responded yes. He also told her if she didn’t get it by the 18 to give them a call so they could trace it. I thought I would share this with y’all and I guess it doesn’t take the whole 8 to 10 weeks.

I went ahead and called the tax payer advocate number to see about claiming a hardship. We didn’t pay rent last month due to my husband having to tAke time off work when we had our baby. We were planning on using the refund to pay rent. I mentioned we would be getting a eviction notice soon. She said that by the time I got the eviction notice I would have my return. Which I thought was weird. She said I would need to have the notice and then a advocate would decide if they want to help. So just a heads up. I thought it was weird she said I would have my return by the time I got a eviction notice (I told her we didn’t pay February rent). Maybe it doesn’t take the whole 8_10 weeks?

@Toni – you should be fine. your situation is slightly different than ours, in that your DD was rejected simply due to the fact that you omitted sole of the routing/account numbers. i have noticed that kind of bank mismatch doesn’t warrant further “research” into your return. your transcripts will most likely update in a couple of days with a paper check mail date and the check will be sent to the address listed on your current return.
good luck -

I got a DD date of 3/4/15 but I just noticed I mixed up the last 2 numbers on my account number so I’m going to call the irs tomorrow but does anyone know how long it takes before the bank rejects it and how long it will be before the irs send out my paper check I’ve been seeing some people got theirs faster then others and they said it usually doesn’t take the whole 8-10 weeks so hopefully it doesn’t

@Brianda MooreThere still isn’t no movement on WMR as well there is no change on the transcript. I filed on 2-5 accepted on 2-6 ddd for 2-13 bank rejected on 2-13. The codes I have on my transcript are 846,841,971 there are no more codes. I received the CP53A notice in the mail on 2-26 but the notice is dated 3-9 on top of the notice. I pray it will not be the whole 8 to 10 weeks. I talked to the lady at the IRS today she said that they are still researching my account, and she said if I don’t receive my check by 5-12 to contact the IRS then. But, if there is any change I will let everyone know.

Hope this may help some. Same situation as most. Walmart card rejected my refund. I called the IRS, was told if I have a “Hardship” like electricity about to be cut off, rent/mortgage due or late, etc… They will put in a request to have the funds released and mailed immediately or expedite it ASAP. The rep told me to wait 5-7 days and I would receive a call from “tax payer advocate” or I can call them after 7 days. I’m sure I will have to verify my hardship, via faxing them pink slip on lights… Here’s the number to the tax payer advocate
1-877-777-4778. 7am-7pm M-F
Hope this helps -

There still is no change on WMR or on the transcript. As for as when I will reaceive a check in the mail according to the IRS it will take 8 to 10 weeks before I will receive my check. But, the IRS said if I don’t receive my check by May 12 to contact the IRS then. So, this is where I am at just waiting. But, if anything changes I will let you know.

received CP53A notice on 2/23. when did y’all file?? has anybody received any more notices or transcript updates since yalls previous posts?
I just wish I knew how long it was going to actually take. I hope it doesn’t take the full 8-10 weeks. some ppl who were in our EXACT situation last tax season said their transcripts updated with a paper check date 2-3 weeks after they received CP53A notice. others stated it took the full 2 months and it was April before they received their paper check. let’s just hope for the best, and continue to update each other. if the IRS contacts any of us requesting more info: or transcripts update with more codes – update on here so we will know what to expect.
also – the BEST way to get in touch with lIRS rep with shortest wait time ONLY for our specific situation is by dialing:
800-829-0582. when prompted, x362
provide ref code “1121” to agent AND advise you received CP53A notice.

Your very lucky to have it mailed out so fast! Mine was rejected because my last name was different. I my maiden name was on my card and my tax return had my married name. I still haven’t gotten a mail by date or anything else. It’s frustrating. Did you receive a notice in the mail? I believe it’s business days. Last year we got our return through mail and it took two weeks to get to us.

Hello All,
I filed electronically, my bank rejected it, The address on my forms did not reflect my current address. Anyway the mail by date was 02/25, I called IRS the monday prior to the 25th and i was told the updated to my current address. I called again and it was confirmed to have been mailed to my current address. I live in Maryland. Where would my refund be coming from? I see that everyone says the average receipt of check is 2-4 days. Do you all mean business days or does that include saturday because either way my date has surpassed the average approximation. I am extremely worried and anxious and stress. A response would be helpful. thank you.
P.S. I cant stand that long call wait before a representative is reached it took me 3 hours one time and i was told I would have to wait thirty days before i can do anything but i honestly think i will lose my mind if i have to wait by then. I dont know why it states my bank rejected the dd everything was correct and i received my state refund through my bank. i called my bank and they stated they did not reject any attempted deposits.

I’m just hoping it doesn’t take the whole 10 weeks. The review shouldn’t take too long. They will be able to see the different last names and know that’s why! Fingers crossed for sometime in March!! Some of these questions are redundant, as well as the answers. People, please read before submitting a question..but then again, if u did that then u would have read before submitting your refund which clearly states to ensure names, spelling, acct numbers, to be totally accurate. Amazing.

@Brianda Moore:
so sorry you’re going through this. but it’s somewhat comforting to know our situations are identical. congrats on the new baby! and, yes, my fiancé and i planned our wedding around our tax return. we have never had any issues, money comes like clockwork every year…except this year. we had to reschedule our wedding.
but, i guarantee that the reason your CP53A notice is dated different than mine (mine was 2-23-15) is because yor DDD was a couple days later than mine.
filed and accepted 1/25
DDD & rejection date 2/2
refund cancelled 2/4
WMR updated 2/5
tax transcript updated 2/6 with following codes:
846 refund issued
841 refund cancelled
971 notice sent 2/23/15
i know this has been a major headache and inconvenience but i’m trying to stay positive. i see a lot of folks have gotten 570 codes – those are full-own audits that will take months processing through the examination dept.
a very helpful rep told me i ought to be thankful i only had 971 code – which was triggered by that stupid pre-paid walmart card that rejected my DD. rep said that, basically, they are “researching” our accounts to determine that we are in fact the taxpayer attached to name and SSN on tax return and that we are in fact the refund.
hope this helps!!
keep me updated. and, again, congrats on the baby! hell, If I can get my refund back, I’LL BUY your baby some clothes – hah -

My transcripts say the same thing! I can’t believe it takes so long! I couldn’t believe it when I found out what had happened. I was scheduled to have a baby on the 13th of February and we needed the tax money for the remaining baby stuff! We would of had the money on the 3rd if all went well! Baby ended up coming on the 9th! Yes! Definitely keep me updated if anything changes on your end! Sounds like we are in the same exact situation!

@Briansa Moore – same thing with me! my fiancé has a pre-paid walmart debit card and i opted to have my monies DD in his acct. I had NO idea it would cause such a backlash. I was under impression monies would be sent automatically via paper check once the IRS cancelled direct deposit. NOPE.
tax transcripts updated with TCs:
846
841
971
BUT…the glimmer of hope is that the agent i spoke with after receiving my CP53A told me I was “lucky” that I didn’t have TC570 – because that is audit. what they are doing to our accounts is “researching” to make sure the name/SSN listed on return is the actual taxpayer and is owed the refund. i read where this same thing happened to folks last year and some said it took 2 weeks after the letter was mailed (that’s when the 8-10 weeks begin) and some folks received the refund right at 2 months. so it just depends on how backed up IRS is. but i did get the feeling that we WOULD in fact get tne refund. let’s keep each other in the loop on updates. -

Sorry to hear that :( I know the feeling I was stressed for 3 weeks.
Mine was just because my bank closed when the deposit happened. But all the account numbers are correct and its under my own name. When it is just due to the bank being closed, they just automatically do a paper check without any issues or reviews. Hope yours get processed soon.

February 27, 2015 at 8:22 pm #4109203bonnybleu83
@Cynthia,
when your DD was rejected by bank, was it due to simple error in routing/account number? the reason for my asking is that I see your paper check was automatically sent out with a date.
my monies were rejected by bank, also,
but it was because my name was not on my fiancé’s account. as such, the IRS rep i spoke with this week after receiving my CP53A notice, advised me that it “flew up red flags everywhere” bc my name/SSN did not match banking info. and apparently the reason code sent back by bank warranted researching my account due to suspicion of fraud. such a headache. -

yep – we are definitely in the some boat. BUT…i have been researching this situation since it happened to me. and one glimmer of hope is that I talked to an IRS agent tuesday of this weel. he confirmed we are NOT being audited. we are being “researched” so IRS can confirm that our name IS attached to the tax return since there was a bank mismatch. keep in mind that the 8-10 week period starts from the date the letter was mailed. so, for me, that time frame starts 2-23-15. i found an excellent tool that is used specifically for IRS tax agents and lists the steps they have to take with returns that were rejected by bank due to name/SSN mismatch. if you are familiar with tax codes and tax jargon, you will be able to read it. it def made me feel better. i will copy and paste link so you can look at it. let’s keep each other updated, okay?
good luck to you! -

I do not have the same situation, my bank account numbers were correct, and I am the only one named on it. Mine was rejected because my account closed before the direct deposit, so the process for me is shorter, they just automatically issue a paper check. That is why it took 3 weeks.
2/4 – DDD Rejected
2/14- WMR updated that check is going to be mailed by 2/23
2/23- it was mailed by treasuryTranscript only says:

@Cynthia
@De5670I am having the same experience. Was your DD rejected because you were not listed on the account ? if do, do you have transcript codes:
846
841
971
if so, this means that you are NOT under audit. but the IRS is researching your account bc IRS rep told me that “it flew up red flags all over the place” when i attempted yl deposit my funds into an account that was not mine. I was instructed thst i did not hVe to go thru ID Verify. but the notice I got on 2-23-15 was a CP53A notice. i called back once i received the notice. they say “8-10 weeks”. and I also noticed that I can view all transcripts EXCEPT wages and income. @Cynthia – do you know why?
i spoke with a few people in the same boat and I was told that it depends on how backed up the IRS is – some folks got theirs in 2 weeks. some said that, last year, it took the full 10 weeks.
I have observed that people whose DD was rejected only due to incorrect account/routinf numbers had a paper check immediately mailed out. however, those whose DD was rejected due to not being an account holder “could” receive one no later than 8-10 weeks after IRS “researched” the account to determine taxpayer was in fact owed the monies and confirmed identity.
has anyone else received a CP53A notice??? -

It sounds like they asked you call to confirm the names on the refund? I am not clear as to why your bank rejected your direct deposit.
And hopefully it’s processing now after you have called. You should check your transcript next week. They usually just say 8-10 weeks as a general information but it should be sooner than that. Goodluck! -

I got a 1120 reference code but the IRS has already received my refund back from the bank. That is what the lady told me when I called today she said they were in the process of processing my refund she told a little longer because they have to verify the names on the refund since it was rejected by the bank before they can mail me a check. 2/19 WMR original DDD

What do you guys think? I should get it early or imma be waiting forrr-ev-ver? I know I can’t get a straight up exact answer on that but…what do you think the chances are of me getting it sometime this week or exactly on the date given for my check to be mailed to me?

February 24, 2015 at 12:44 am #4108724Cynthia
I will share my experience and I hope it can help someone here because I went crazy these last 3 weeks.
Filed 1/26 , Accepted 1/26
DDD 2/4 , Bank rejected DD 2/4
My bank confirmed that they rejected it the same day. Treasury confirmed they received it back 2/5 ( keep in mind that the treasury only disperses the check ) even if they receive it back right away from your bank, it still needs to go back to the IRS so they can approve and have the treasury process a paper check. It is also correct that the IRS don’t see it right away. I called several times and they don’t see the rejected direct deposit. I even fought with my bank thinking they are holding the funds somewhere before the treasury told me that they received it back the next day. IRS didnt see it and just kept saying it takes 3-5 weeks.2/13 – my transcript updated saying 971 notice / 846 refund issued
2/14 – WMR updated a mail by date of 2/23
and today 2/23 it says that my paper check refund was sent. So I am expecting it by Friday because they mail it out on your “mail by date” and it takes 3-4 days as I’ve seen people receive it within that time frame.
My advice is keep checking your transcript and Wmr because it updates and holding on the phone is a waste of time which I did everyday and it didn’t really help much.
So 3 weeks total from the day it got rejected by my bank. I hope this helps someone .

So I have a question??? If my DDD was for 2/19 but Netspend actually received and rejected it on 2/13 and when I called the IRS on 2/18, they said they didn’t receive it yet, when should I expect a mail date for a paper check???

You are probably a weekly then… the irs does have your money but your account doesn’t update everyday, only weekly. Next Fri your transcripts should update, then sat WMR should give you a mail out date. Same thing happened to me.
DDD 2/4
Bank rejected 2/5
Treasury recieved 2/6
Irs recieved back on 2/9
Then that weekend I got a date for the following week. -

Green dot recieved my deposit 2/4, i don’t have it, treasury says green dot processed it so they can’t reissue it until they get it back, green dot won’t look because they say it’s automatically rejected but they didn’t so I guess i just don’t get it

Anyone from fl getting a paper check? How long did it take?
-
February 18, 2015 at 1:33 am #4107661Anonymous
@Stark –
that eases my mind thst you’re in the same boat (unfortunate for both of us). but why are WE being reviewed if our refund was initially approved like everyone else’s?? that’s the confusing part. I opted for my monies to be deposited into a pre-paid card that didn’t have my name on it (stupid mistake, I know). and now it’s taking an act of Congress to get a paper check? I see that others had the same codes as us:
846
841
971
but they also had a quick turn around with a paper check. anothe glitch was that i had to verbally update my address with IRS to have notice sent. bc I always have DD so I didn’t think abojt updating. not sure if that had postponed the notice. but it said 971 – 2/23/16. so im assuming that’s the last date IRS has to send out notice. did IRS agent tell you what the notice is about?
the agent i talked to 2 weeks ago was very rude and not helpful. she told me no further action was needed – would NOT confirm that i was in fact receiving a refund at all now and said a notice was coming. 2 weeks later, no notice. sounds like from your post, that the IRS agent disnt tell you that you would definitely be getting a check either? just that a notice wS being sent and it could take 10 weeks from date monies were sent back before anything would happen. what do you think????
so frustrated -

They will send you a paper check. I see that some people have had their refund mailed out a few days after the rejection date, but you may be in the same boat I am. For whatever reason, my bank rejected the DD due to some information being incorrect. I know for a fact that I entered all the information correctly, but we are beyond that now. I spoke with a nice lady from the IRS who explained to me that I got the 971 code due to some information being entered incorrectly and not matching, my direct deposit being rejected and that it was going to be reviewed and that I should allow 10 weeks from the notice they will send out (won’t be sent out until 3/2) for them to send anything after the review. Hopefully it won’t take that long, but I’m not counting on it. It would be nice to have the money now, but I’m not depending on the money for anything really. Keep checking your transcript and WMR daily, they won’t be able to expedite it or anything like that.

HELP:
filed & accepted on 1/26. DDD of 2/2. bank rejected my DD scheduled for 2/2. reason was that my name was not listed on account (stupid mistake, i know). after 2 days, transcripts updated to show the following codes:
846 – refund issued
841 – refund cancelled
971 – notice sent w/ date of 2-23-15now i am panicking! becauze I see that some of you have updated transcripts that reflect a date a paper check will be mailed. does that mean I am being audited??? I did not hVe any review codes on my transcripts. but I don’t have any date when a check will be mailed. I talked to an agent via phone almost 2 weeks ago. she wS rude and short. said I needed to wait to get. my notice. no further action was needed from me right now.
FREAKING OUT. If my refund was approved and sent to bank (thst rejected it since my name was not on account) why would i not have a paper check mailed shortly after that???
is ANYbody in the same boat as me?
was approved but opted for monies to be sent to bank that was not mine. and have the same IRS codes on their transcripts? am I under review? im so confused. PLEASE HELP!!!!! -

David – once it is rejected the it’s will issue a paper check. They will NOT attempt to redeposit. I called and tried to do the same and they refused. Simply said we wait for your funds to be returned and will issue a paper check. Allow 6-8 weeks. Mine was mailed yesterday and rejected on the 4th.

Myrefund was rejected yesterday Feb. 13Th and I’m wondering if the irs can redeposit my refund because I was added on to the account yesterday? ? This I why they rejected it because I wasn’t an account holder. So we fixed it right away.. Has anyone ever had theirs redeposited into their acciunts

My refund was to be deposited on Netspend card 02/11- the account was blocked & Netspend sent back to IRS on the 02/11. I have not seen any updates on WMR yet, I am unable to look at my transcipts either. From what Im seeing thru the threads is about 4 days to get back to IRS & then IRS issue check, Do they only issue checks on Fridays?

Transcripts updated 2-5

Original dd date 1/30. Split refund and part of received and other part rejected. WMR still saying Take Action and call IRS. I have already called IRS they state the refund will take 5 weeks,should receive by March 6. Does anyone know if WMR changed to let you know check is mailed?
-
February 11, 2015 at 6:14 am #4105775charlie
My refund is to be mailed out today but I moved yesterday will my check be forwarded to my new address?
-
February 10, 2015 at 9:49 pm #4105607Cynthia
I am worried.
My DDD is 2/4.
Talked to my bank, they see my refund being rejected due to my account being closed. They confirmed that it was rejected and sent back to irs same day 2/4.
WMR states, deposited 2/4. 3 bars (refund sent)
Spoke with an IRS live person and they only see the deposit date, they don’t see anything rejected or returned to them. And that once the rejection comes through, a paper check will be automatically issued.
How long will this take? Will anything about switching to paper check show on Wmr or transcript?
Thank you

February 10, 2015 at 2:18 pm #4105331MJ
1st thank you all for sharing your experiences, I have been losing my mind trying to figure out what the he!! is going on!
My return was accepted on 1/20, then approved on either 1/27 or 1/28. At that time it stated a 1/30 DDD. On 1/30 the bars on WMR were never completed filled. I checked again on 1/31 and the sent bar was filled and the message stated it was sent and if not received by my bank by 2/4 to contact my bank. No deposit was made so I checked WMR on the morning of 2/4, it stated DD had been rejected by bank and paper check would be sent by 2/10.
Checked WMR this morning 2/10 and sent bar was still not filled. So in my anxiety, I got on Google and found this message board. Called the number provided (800) 829-0582 ext. 652 was able to speak w a very nice lady who stated the check was in fact sent out today which should be received in 7-15 days (jeez) and confirmed the proper address.
I truly think there was a glitch in the “matrix” b/c I have used the same account for the past 5 years. And in my obsessive compulsive nature I have a habit of checking the numbers 5 times before submitting. So there is really no other explanation.
I hope this helps someone.

Call your bank to verify it was rejected. If so ask how long it will take to return to irs. I think the irs will give you a mail by date once they have your rejected refund back. Also call the IRS, they can give you more insight.

February 9, 2015 at 8:27 pm #4104864Imh
Sam
Looks like most people have to wait for the bank to return the funds to the irs before getting a mail by update. My account info was blank (irs glitch) so I was immediately switched to check and given the mail by date of 2/11.
-
February 9, 2015 at 4:54 pm #4104788sam
For those of you who were rejected and already have a mail by date… how long before you saw movement on wmr? My bank rejected my funds on the 5th but when I called the irs today they said they still havnt received the funds. Getting worried this whole process is going to drag on..
-
February 9, 2015 at 4:40 pm #4104782Nay
Has anyone with a mail by date of 2/10 have a status update on where’s my refund showing it has been sent?
-
February 8, 2015 at 9:10 pm #4104394QRB Love
It seems that there is a problem with the IRS when depositing the funds. The same status update about the DD was rejected by the bank is showing for me and 2 of my friends. but the bank is saying that they never reject ACH transactions unless the acct# is wrong but the acct# was correct. The bank don’t even have record that the ACH was trying to come through and was rejected. This has to be a glitch in the IRS system, which sucks, Because they are saying they will mail our checks by Feb.13th.

My bank rejected my refund on 1/30 my transcripts say 841- Cancelled refund
Then it says 570- additional account action pendingWhen I call they say its under review. Ive gotten at least 7 different reasons for the 570 freeze. They tell me I shouldnt expect a check until April, wth?? Anyone else see anything like this on their transcripts?

February 8, 2015 at 2:26 pm #4104311Timothy host
My bank rejected my refund on 2/3. I received an update on both transcript and wmr.
Transcript: (updated Thursday night 2-5)
846 – refund issued
841 – refund cancelled
971 – notice issued
846 – refund issuedwmr: (updated Friday night 2-6)
Refund approved:
We are sending you a check to the address shown on your tax return because your bank returned the direct deposit of your refund.
You tax refund is scheduled to be mailed by Feb 13, 2015.
My question? Do they only send checks out on Fridays? Also, is there a chance it was mailed last Friday since my wmr updated so quickly (4 days after reject) and since it says BY Feb 13th does this mean they can send it before 2-13?
Thank you!!

Update: Hubby went up and talked to a banker today at our branch. Our federal are not showing up but the state taxes are trying to come through. Anyways, for those of you that are dealing with wrong DD numbers, go up to your bank and ask to talk to a banker. Ask to have them look up the ACH transactions and to fill out an ACH switch form. As long as the dd has not been rejected yet the form will allow the bank to manually move the funds to the correct bank account. Unfortunatly, if they have been rejected then it will be just one big waiting game!! Your bank can also call the ACH to see if your funds have been rejected yet or not and when they were. Hope this helps everyone!

shondell thank you for the info. If you don’t mind me asking when was your ddd originally? My ddd was 02/04. It was sent out as scheduled but still waiting to see if it has been rejected and when they will mail it out. When i get on wmr it just says our refund has been sent. I found my hubby put the wrong dd number when i decided to double check everything on H&R because of a gut feeling.

This will help me calculate my waiting days. Thank you!

I filed 1/20 accepted 5pm (2 hrs after filing) then approved on 1/27 and refund DD 1/29. Fudged up my account…..My fault! my fault….. But SBBT (turbo tax) issued and mailed a check Monday 2/2, was hoping for today, since the IRS doesn’t seem to be that long at mailing checks…. but It wasn’t here today. I PRAY FOR IT BY MONDAY!

If you don’t mind me asking… what was your original DDD and how and when did they notify you?
-
February 6, 2015 at 7:03 pm #4103572
We are sending you a check to the address shown on your tax return because your bank returned the direct deposit of your refund.
Your tax refund is scheduled to be mailed by February 10, 2015. If you do not receive the refund by March 10, 2015, please contact us again. We are unable to take any action until then. This what i got when I mistakenly sent my DD to a close bank account. -
February 6, 2015 at 6:40 pm #4103564slf
my hubby put i the wrong DD number in for an account that we closed a year ago. Im expecting the bank to reject the DD but everyone I talk to is sending me in circles. I can’t get ahold of the IRS to notify them of the problem. Called the 1-800-829-1040 but can’t get through to a person, its all automated. Does anyone know how to get through to someone? And when the bank rejects the dd and sends it back the IRS will their website that updates refund status update that they will be mailing me a check instead? I keep going in circles and can not get any answers!!!

@candigirl
I thought once it is rejected it’s just rejected. Hopefully in 5 days you’ll have your paper check and won’t have to deal with the bank saying they are going to try again.
-
February 5, 2015 at 11:45 am #4102426candigirl
Yes, this has happened to us this year too. We have been using HR block emerald card for 8+ years and have never been rejected until this year. The correct routing number and acct number was on the return. DD was supposed to be 1/30 and I’m just now finding out it was rejected for some unknown reason. I had to get rowdy with the bank in order for them to dig deeper to find out where my money was. All the IRS could tell me was that they sent it to my bank. I tell you what we are working for our money with all these hoops we got to jump through. This is a frustrating time of year. So how long does it take to get the paper check once the bank rejects the refund? Also, the bank was saying that they are going to run it back through in 5 days. That doesn’t sound right. I thought once its rejected it’s rejected. I couldn’t understand. Does anyone know? I don’t need my money flip flopping all around.
