@alabamagal, if you did not get a form 1099, then you need to file a schedle C (self employment). Freetaxusa will allow you to file a schedule C for free for federal. Turubo Tax charges a ton and Tax Act charges $14.95.

, just file your w2 then. Many people change jobs.

@mominillinois No i didnt work as self employed last year i had a regular job last year. I usually file schedule c because of the self employment but last year i did not do any self employment so i wanted to file just using my w2. I never had any problems with the irs not even with my refund. I want to file taxes on my own using my computer instead of going to a tax preparer. Im not trying to get audit just trying to save a few bucks in my pocket.

I have heard that the account must have your name on it in order for a dd to be made to it. I am not quite sure about prepaid cards though. Perhaps he could call and get another card with your name on it under that same account? Are you still able to go in and make changes before HR Block submits it? I can in freetaxusa.

@mommyoftwo, are you still working as a self employed person??? If so, you will still have to file either a 1099 or a Schedule C.

Hello again everyone! I filed with Freetaxusa this year instead of Tax Act because I was tired of the fees to file a schedule C. I just submitted mine and pray nothing goes wrong. I have been in the test batches the last few years and never had any issues. Anyone have experience with Freetaxusa? Thanks!

I sit here again wondering – do I file early or wait? I’ve never had an issue with my returns n the past. WMR is usually very slow at updating but I always get my refund when I should ( within the 21 days it says you should for DD). I think last year I filed a day or two before opening. So what’s the verdict?? Early or wait???

This has always been true for me also, for the most part. Except when filing early.

I filed my taxes today (H&R block online). And I fear that I’ve already messed up… I used my brothers routing & account # to receive my dd. I’ve read that this is a automatic no no? I’ve read it will go through… I’ve read that it won’t. He uses an American Express Bluebird from walmart. He’s had it for several years and I think that is the card I used last year but I’m unsure! Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance. Definitely not my brightest moment.

Mina, you could submit a change of address wit the usps. If you do it online it costs $1 but it goes through quicker.

We filed our taxes electronically in April, they were rejected and soon after we received a letter from IRS about verifying our identity due to identity theft. We took steps to verify identity and then faxed our taxes instead to IRS tax number in early May. Called in August after never hearing anything and was informed our taxes may have been lost due to the amount of taxes they received by fax and I should wait until October checking the refund status before trying to re-file. On October 30,2015 the refund site finally said it was processing….. And today we received another identity verification letter in the mail. To call and speak with someone in the IRS takes over an hour and they usually have me call another number and wait another hour…. Which is difficult because we both work full time. I am overly frustrated with the entire system. Not to mention no one at the IRS phone numbers ever has any idea what’s going on.

I have noticed several people who have posted on here had received review letters from LA dept of revenue.
I filed extension and taxes were filed on Oct 15.
I am suppose to receive refund from the state – but i received a “review letter” from them yesterday.
The posts i have seen on here are from back in Jan, Feb, March – Can any of you guys tell me what became of your ‘review’ process?

I eFiled through TurboTax on February 12… so almost 9 months ago now. It shows everything “Accepted” and I got my federal refund in the usual time frame. I found myself going through the “where’s my refund” tracker on the MS DOR website over and over from then until the 90 day mark and beyond Eventually I kind of wrote it off and figure I’d get the refund eventually or not but whatever. (Basically, I’d have a happy $600 surprise if it ever did come in, but I didn’t have time to fool with it anymore. I figure the state is counting on a lot of people not wanting to jump through hoops to get in touch with anyone at the DOR.) Finally had some time today to really sit down with all my ducks in a row and chew some people out… called 601-923-9089 (found the number on this thread) and almost immediately go through to someone. I told her it had been nearly 9 months since I filed and I needed to get my refund NOW. She asked for my social and put me on hold for less than a minute. Then, she came back on and said to allow 7-10 days for the refund to post to my account. I was shocked… I asked if it would be direct deposited still into the originally specified account, and she said it would. We shall see… are they really just holding money until they get a call?!? WORST. STATE. EVER.

I originally filed electronically but it was rejected due to some using my wife’s SSN to file a fraudulent claim so I wound up sending in paperwork and filing a police report. I received a letter from the IRS which stated to file by paper and it could take up to 180 days to process. I filed by paper in April and all I’ve been getting “you refund is still being processed” and it’s been over 180 days already. It’s anybody’s guess when the status will change.

My WMR Status has changed from ” Your refund is still being processed” to “We have received your tax return and it is being processed”

Filed my taxes Jointly with my wife on 2/12/2015 accepted the day after.

Got a letter to verify our id on 3/5/2015 wasn’t able to get through to verify until 3/23/2015, finally was verified and was told it would take 6 weeks longer to receive my refund.

6 weeks came and went and after that just kept counting the weeks.

Went through the steps to get a Tax advocate which really didn’t help.

Finally after endless calls my wife went to the irs building locally to get tax transcripts for school and re verified id, the lady there said nothing was wrong and that refund should be pushed through. That was on 07/20/2015.

More weeks went by and WMR still showed “Your refund is still being processed”

I called again on 8/18/2015 and was told to verify my id again but it showed that the Id had been verified twice before on 3/23/2015 as well as in person by my wife on 7/20/2015, after that was completed she looked into what was going on and I was fed some type of excuse but was told it would be pushed along to the next steps of the processed and it would take an additional 6-9 weeks.

So a couple weeks went by and I believe on 9/16 or 9/17 of this past month it switch to “We have received your tax return and it is being processed”

I don’t know how much longer it will stay on that status but it has now been around 2 weeks. I will keep you all updated.

If anyone has any information on how long it’s suppose to stay like that please reply.

I called two weeks ago, a lady said they have not assigned an officer yet for my file . I called yesterday September 21st the lady said, my refund is processed and the check mail date is Friday September 25th. I do not know where she got this answer from, I checked WMR, today Tuesday September 22nd, still says ” we received your amended return, however it has not been processed. I do not know what to say. Looks like the IRS people do not know what they are talking about. The lady also said, if I do not get my refund within two weeks to give them a call. The automated phone system says, WMR is updated every night, ha ha

They already took refund due to him not me owing past due obligations, I’m currently in process of getting an annulment. I checked where’s my amendment on IRS website and they have received it. Any tips on what documents I need when the IRS asks?? Thank you

I filed amendment to the returns for year 2013, 2012, and 2011. Sent all the documents on the same day and I see on WMAR website that they are showing status for 2013 and 2012 returns – received 3/10 and adjusted 4/10. Based on other posts, it seems I should see the adjustment in couple of weeks by mail. However, I don’t see any information for 2011. Before sending the returns, I made sure that the submission date was within the 3 year window from the date I filed the 2011 returns. Anyone has any idea what’s going on? Is it just delay in processing at IRS or delay in updating WMAR? Any help and thoughts will be appreciated.

I know this is new this year, but has anyone ever had the IRS ask for additional documents of any kind? I was accepted long ago – 1/12 and just received the notice. My blood ran COLD when I saw buried in the first page that I will receive an update 6 to 8 weeks after my response to the letter.

I did immediately fax over what was requested. Twice accidentally. Any positive experience would help me feel much better. Thank you in advance!

I chose to have my fees deducted from my return and the rest DD into my Higher One bank account. The problem is nowhere on any of my tax documents does it show the temp account with H&R Block bank that it is supposed to go to first for the fees to be deducted. Shouldn’t I have this info somewhere? It seems that must people do, but I don’t. The only account info listed on any of my tax papers is my actual personal bank account (everyone is telling me it should says H&R Block bank’s acct # not mine). Many people told me this is odd or wrong and now I’m confused and terrified that my money isn’t coming. I called and spoke to 3 different people with H&R Block and none of them had any clue what I was saying and they were no help. Does anyone have any info to help me? I dunno what to think at this point!

The irs accepted my return on the same day. and Its been over 21 days.. Also when I check on wheres my refund it shows that it is still processing. I dont know whats going on. And its impossible to get through the IRS to talk to a human. I chatted with H&Rblock and they told me that the estimated refund was on 2/13 could this mean that the refund is going through right now? I´m in Limbo right now.

Have no code on where’s my refund, no bars and it’s just says refund still processing. I can’t order transcripts online because it says call ID verify. Can’t order return transcripts by mail because it says they are not available yet. But I was able to order account transcript over a month ago. I’ve done the id verify online and it says it can’t verify my identity online. I’ve called I’d verify and they say they don’t know why I’m in is verify because there is no trigger on my account. The only thing that has changed is my refund amount increased by $5 on where’s my refund but it happened at least 3 weeks ago. I finally got a tax advocate involved. I had to fax her paycheck stubs, copies of our ID’s and social security cards, our return we filed with Jackson Hewitt and documentation of hardship. This was done over a week ago. I haven’t heard anything back from the advocate yet and there has been no movement on where’s my refund or my transcripts. What do you think my next step should be, should I call IRS again. I don’t understand why it’s taking so long, it’s never been this long for us before? I feel so helpless and frustrated!!!

Further investigation suggest that TT is having a technical issue where a blank or corrupted file being transmitted, generating no transcripts but can’t be re-filed a second time. Most of our clients file form1040EZ. this is a heads up.

We also just hear reports about SBBT TPG freezing tax refunds for ID verification, which you are required to fax identity documents. This is the first time we encounter this situation

I see many people saying that the people who got accepted the 21st and before will get a DDD of the 28-29. Is this true? I didn’t know if it was just rumored that or if it was actually validated! I filed the 16th was accepted the 21st but still have one bar, no approval. I’m not pushing the issue because I know it comes when it comes I was just curious to know if the rumors were true?

Woodforest deposit checks a day before BOA and M&T and others who will hold your direct deposit longer than 2-3 days. Woodforest is a great bank and they may not be a well known bank but their services as far as deposits are excellent. I’d rather wait till noon on a Wed or Thursday than 8am on a Friday. Be patient because there is nothing you can do with your money at midnight unless you have OCD and need to see your pay as soon as it hit the bank. But waiting til noon is not that bad, your errands and bills aren’t going anywhere!

Where’s my refund now says my refund has been mailed on 8/28. Just curious on how long everyone’s wait on average has been for a refund being mailed. Thanks again.

I filed my tax return form 1040 in March. My refund was estimated to be $3210 with an Earned Income Credit of $3305 and health care individual responsibility of $95. Soon afterwards, I received a notice from the IRS to file form 8962. Another $51 were added to my refund using the information from form 8962. A few weeks after filing form 8962, I received another letter from the IRS that my refund amount had been adjusted to $3228.

My refund was never released, and upon calling the IRS, they told me to expect a letter in the mail. I got that letter last week and it’s a request to file the amended tax return 1040X.

I looked over the form 1040X and found it very confusing. Where do I put the $18 that IRS credited to me? (requested a transcript and report, found an explanation code 766). What proof do I attach with that? Where does the $51 credit go on the amended return?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As of today, August 22 she still has not received her refund. As someone else posted, OTC website still says RECEIVED BUT NOT PROCESSED, FOUR MONTHS!!!! FOUR MONTHS!!! and cannot get an answer. I will have her try calling the Tulsa office. She also mailed it in, with everything attached, so it is not an e-file problem.

I filed in January and still have not received a refund. there was nothing new on my return that was not there last year. I was told when I called yesterday that my review was never completed so it should be 6 weeks before it’s here or (hope not) but a letter saying what I need if anything.

This year my tax return was only $300!!! Why is there such a descrepency between the two refunds? Everything is the same, and I even claimed my son on my portion, and that is at least $1000 for the child tax credit! Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

But the text messages I receive are (mostly) just one long number. For example, I received the following three text messages:

I just happen to win the lottery of ERRORS inputted by IRS. Sadly, I am a former employee from way back when it was 1. less difficult to process taxes and 2. to have the proper knowledge to give correct information. I have been dealing with those that could not speak proper English, understand English, could not pull up a return, could not help and gave wrong information. Advocacy was very difficult and proved that they do not communicate with the tax payer. I have been waiting, calling, faxing and patient. Today after all these months I finally get a call to let me know I have a DDD of this Wednesday 8/12/15
mind you I filed in February 2015 was accepted and approved then my return some how some way was coded with an error. I want to let all of you know that consistent calling – faxing- and asking for managers is a big key to get the right answers.
I still have friends there but I never ever will put their jobs on the line for those that can not or will not do the job correctly.
Be patient, and I do apologize to anyone that is, has or went through what I went through, I had my electric and gas turned off….

Sent this information ( o h yes we had a dead line to sent that as the 30th of the month) . I have looked on the web site and of course we still are not approved . Called the number 609 292 6400.

There was nothing wrong with our return !!! they never addressed it for 3 months and now we are waiting another 90 days for information!!!!!!!!!

Called on 3/27 and had to verify my identity. They told me 6 weeks, on 4/27 they told me its not 6 weeks its 9. I called today again, (7 weeks on Friday) and they said if everything goes fine the refund would go on the June 1st release which has a direct deposit date of JUNE 15TH!!!!!!! they are required to send a letter if there is a problem after the 9 weeks.
I didn’t get any letter, so when I called they had no answer for me and said I needed to allow another 45 days.
Today is day 45, and my status finally changed!!!! it says my refund is scheduled for 8/5, 6 months after I filed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the first time in many years that I am getting a refund. The last person I spoke to at the IRS on July 1st, verified my identity, checked into my return, and said she could find no reason to why my refund should be released. There were no notations requesting additional information and no letter sent to me. Here I am a month later and when I check “Where’s My Refund” it says my return is still being processed. I am at my wits end!

Whenever I do on online inquiry I get that stupid stale message that says it’s received but not yet approved. In all my years of filing taxes this is my first time in this predicament. Yet still the state can send my dad a mail bothering him to pay his money for what he owes the state. Get off my dad’s back and send me my money. This is a joke. The state can’t pay out but is quick to collect. Yes, please don’t ask my dad for any payment when u owe me mine. Shame on you NJ. I guess I will be receiving last year and this year together.

Had the WMR status bar until last friday. Now, it says: Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available. It also lists tax topic 152. Also noticed my refund amount disappeared. Anyone else having this issue or have any news about it? Thanks

He had gotten a letter saying his taxes were going to be offset in order to pay for back child support. He then had his girlfriend file her taxes and claim him as a dependent, in order to not lose his return to child support. There is no way he made under $3200 for the year, how could he get away with being claimed? Then to top it off he said his girlfriend owed the Irs money so the money she received for claiming him as a dependent went towards the money she already owed the IRS, instead of coming to me for the care of our child. Is there anything I can do?

I have ALWAYS owed in state and federal taxes. I filed this year for several years based off of a letter Taxation sent to me. I am owed money. I personally went down to the Taxation Division in May of 2015 and as of right now July 2015. There is nothing. Whenever you owe they are really quick with sending out the letter. But apparently not with paying it out and that in itself is a huge problem. Not good NJ…Not good…
