I filed on the 15th, got accepted the 16th, should be getting my deposit by Feb 6th. There are “rumors” going around that the IRS will begin making deposits Jan 30th. I said rumors because I am not sure how true that is.

I filed early last year and I would never do it again. I was apart of the tes batch and we were put in a “back pool” meaning our returns were processed a few days after the opening date. it took the whole 21 days for me to get my return back and it had never took that long.

Filed using Taxact on 1/7, was accepted on 1/13 and lost my bars and amount on WMR on 1/16.

Mine is the same, filed 1/7 using Taxact, accepted 1/13 and 3 days later on 1/16 I lost my bars and had tax topic 152 the entire time, still do. My amount is gone too.

They will never send them out till opening day. They should have to send them, not holding them. Because if there system goes down like last year, then it will take longer.

Apparently I’m a part of the glitch. They said my return wI’ll have to be resent on 1/22.

Mine says it is still being processed topic 152 no refund amount on side. No tracking bars either.

it is highly discouraged from using your last pay stub to file. Sometimes the numbers there and on your W-2 do not match up, which can actually DELAY your refund. If you don’t mind taking a chance, go for it. But it is wisely advised you just wait for your W-2.

Last year I filed with TurboTax and was accepted early, and it actually delayed my refund. People who filed after me and were accepted after me were getting their refunds before me. This year I opted to use H&R Block online as they had the lower cost, and have not been a part of any test batches so far. I don’t expect a change until the 20th, and hopefully will get my refund faster than last year.

Hey @zandersmom what is your impression of what goes on the early test batches of returns? Do they get approved more quickly or is the deposit sent out faster?? Basically are there any added benefits to be one of the test cases?

I myself was accepted on the 16th! Woohoo! I figured that they wouldn’t begin notifying of acceptance until next Tuesday but alas , here we are! I wonder if we’ll be a part of those horror stories surrounding the early batch cases. Is it safe to say that we will be one of the first few to get our refunds back first !?

You may not get accepted until the 20th. That is the official start up date. Some people got accepted early for a test run that IRS does every year. They do update on Sundays though but as of right now the WMR system is down . ( May be doing updates on the system its been down since last night)

Got accepted on the 16th and it shows in WMR, this is the first time I have been accepted early so im hoping this goes better than last year. I had to end up suing the irs last year just to get my refund.

I don’t think H&R Block is ever a part of the early testing batches. True? False? Anyone know? I used H&R Block two years ago and ended up a part of their major screw up with Form 8863, so opted to go with TurboTax last year. Decided to give H&R Block another shot this year due to TurboTax bending everyone over with their inflated pricing, and H&R Block offering a lower price (maybe they got their act together this time around). Anyways, if being accepted early as part of a test batch doesn’t get your refund any earlier… I’m not too worried about it.

I just filled mine with hr block and it says pending on the hr block site. It is my understanding, from what I have read, hr does not submit returns until the IRS opening date of the 20th

What Dana said! And give the irs site 24 hours after you get a notice saying refund accepted.

It will say you have entered it wrong if you have not been accepted yet. make sure you are entering the correct amount before any fees.

Question: does anyone know what, why, and how they could possibly not approve a refund? Has anyone been received then NOT ACCEPTED? What happens? Is it different than a usual audit situation? Also, is it typos, etc. that cause this, or bigger things?

I always stress so hard until I see that Approved bar. So I thought discussing the unliklihood of it might help, lol.

Yes @michelle that is what it means,no bars is a sign of processing, next step if no issues are found will be refund approved with a ddd. I don’t expect any changes until after 1/20

I used H&R Block two years ago and was a part of their screw up with Form 8863. So last year I went with TurboTax and things went well. However, due to their insanely inflated prices this year, I opted to give H&R Block another shot because what they charged to do it online was a MUCH better deal than TurboTax. Well, mine still says pending, and what Amber said does not surprise me. I should of just paid a little more and filed with TurboTax again. I wish I could change who I filed through now.

Does Where’s My Refund always display my refund status with the tracker showing three steps?
No. In some cases the tracker graphic will not be shown if your return is being reviewed prior to step two: “Refund Approved,” and instead an explanation or instructions will be provided depending on the situation. This can happen even if you previously checked Where’s My Refund and it showed the status as “Return Received” along with the tracker. In these cases be assured that we have your tax return and we are processing it. Please follow the directions provided by Where’s My Refund?. I read this on the irs website, does this mean if your bars dissapeared on WMR that this is what is going on?

H&R Block will not even submit the returns to the irs until the 20th. So you won’t see anything or get accepted until at least the 20th. That’s why I didn’t file with them!

I filed TT on 1/10/15 and was accepted on 1/12. I’ve noticed many people from Arkansas who filed after me already got their state refund. I’m in Arkansas too and haven’t gotten mine. My federal still has one bar. What do you think is going on?

Federal/state Missouri filed 1/16 at 8am, both were accepted by 5 pm. 152.

Filed 1/7, accepted 1/13 and today on 1/16 my bar disappeared but still says topic 152 (direct deposit). I also cannot get my transcripts, getting a scary error msg when I try to login to the online system. “We cannot process your transcript request. Please contact the Identity Protection Specialized Unit (IPSU) at 800-908-4490. ” I am seeing a few others with this msg tonight too, not sure if we should freak out or not. My return is very straight forward and usual, same kids, same job, same address etc.
