@Willbeas “verifying a direct deposit” refers to verifying that it was sent and received. For example, if your DDD was tomorrow and tomorrow comes but it is not there.. then they can verify the deposit having been sent. It has nothing to do with WMR.

For what it’s worth, WMR is working for me but not for my spouse – joint return. Both had DDD posted yesterday for 2/4. I can’t explain why and it doesn’t do any good to speculate.

My 1/2 cent: a tracer, in a legal context, is a way of investigating what happened to something that left its expected path. A tracer in a refund context would then be to trace or to investigate what happens to a refund after it leaves the IRS. WMR generally just tracks the status of a return. Once a refund leaves the IRS, should someone fail to receive, the tracing process would being. The tracer feature of the WMR tracking app, presuming it has one because of the distinction in the down time, is down for a longer period of time than the return tracking feature.

Hello I looked on where’s my refund and said I am under review and I will receive a letter. So I pulled up my transcripts and codes follow

811 Refund released 2-16-2015 -0.00
971 Notice issued 2-16-2015 -0.00
*****846 Refund issued 2-16-2015 than the amount of my federal withholding only
my child credit and additional credit isn’t applied
can you tell me if the 846 is the amount I may get deposit on 2-4-2015 that was my refund date. Please help

I filed 1/23/15 and it was accepted DDD changed from 2/6 to 2/20 transcripts show “no return filed” and a bunch of zeros what is going on? now the app is down and so is WMR site on 2/1/15?

@justme Hi! *waves* That’s the eternal question. No one knows? It’s all over the place. For instance I filed around 4pm on 1/25 and was accepted the same night. I have been stuck on one bar, with only my account transcript showing all 0’s but others that filed 1/26, 1/27 and 1/28 have either received their deposits or have a DDD. Then there are others who filed early in Jan as far back as the 16th and 21st and they are in the same position as me. It’s strange. I’ve heard some folks are being pulled for review and all other manners of things. But it’s all speculation until you personally get an update or the IRS sends a letter.

No one is being disrespectful towards those who filed early. The IRS doesn’t start accepting returns until 1/20 regardless of the date you filed prior to that.

There are so many factors and variables that go into completing a refund on the IRS end of things – cycle groups, ACA penalties, EIC, holds, etc. To say that 1/28 filers are being disrespectful because a thread exists for those wondering about the money they loaned to the government, tax-free, is not fair.

Having said that, update on my end: WMR still at 1 bar, only able to see wages on transcript. Hoping for an update tomorrow.

Can anyone explain to me in layman’s terms why there is such a discrepancy between filers. I filed 1/17 accepted 1/20 and still didn’t have a DDD I see others are saying the same while people who filed later in the month have a DDD date within a couple days.
The site and number have both been down for me since yesterday evening too

I think we all need a laugh. A break. A distraction. Even though I realize it’s no laughing matter to some. They need their refunds. But getting mad at innocent people and being rude isn’t going to make the refund process faster and it’s not going to guarantee you get one at all. Get mad at the IRS for encouraging early filing which they know damn well does not work out “early” for the filers. But most important get mad at our Congress for cutting the IRS’s budget. They’re understaffed and can’t get things done quick.

Does anyone know when Illinois will start accepting e-filed tax returns? I filed on the 25th of Jan and the site still hasn’t given us a date they’ll even start accepting returns. No info online either! It’s Feb 1st! I always get my state refund months late, like in the middle of summer, but again it’s the not knowing what and when they’ll even start processing that’s maddening. This tax season is starting off terrible! I’m never filing in January again. I should have stuck to filing in Feb or March.

Beast- I hate to tell you this but if you owed the state – they will take it too. This happened to me last year. They took the amount I owed out of both refunds. I had to fight with the state to get my money. It took about 6 weeks to get back the total amount. It is set up to grab it out of both. Since the federal got it first, now you will need to go back to the state for entire amount. Your Ohio will be short the same amount.

It means your almost done.. Once you can order your return transcripts that means your return is finished and then you get ddd like the next business day. That’s how it worked with me and some others
