so i called irs yesterday and the guy said that they did not have a return on file then today i called cause i was worried and the lady that i talked to said that they have my tax return but just not processed it yet said looks like it has gotten stuck in a glitch in there system uggh they wont do anything about it till the 21 days

Update: i filed on 2/10 and was accepted 2/10 , ordered my transcripts today, my process code was 20150605 (2-11-2015) after addind 4 business days to that I’m guessing my DDD is 2-17-2015 (2-19-2015 the latest (my husband’s birthday)

WMR still has 1 bar and processing. I knew I had an offset even though it didn’t show on my transcript. Called the offset line this morning and was informed some of my refund went to the offset and it’s dated for the 18th. I also called the irs refund line and got updated information that’s not on the wmr hotline. Hopefully I’ll get the rest of my money before the 18th.

I was accepted the 6th and 90% of those on that thread for the dates of 6,7,8,9, a lot already have their DDD and a bunch also got their refunds today, if you can believe it. However there is that 10% which of course I’m a part of, lucky me, that don’t have anything except one bar and zeroed out transcripts. I am thankful at least that 2014 is there though, a lot don’t have it available yet. As the info is going, once you can see 2014 it’s being processed. I’ve seen people process only a day or two and I’ve seen folks sit with zeros for a week or so.

I’m comparing the last 3 years of transcripts and they show pretty much exactly as you noticed for yours. It’s been just under 2 weeks for me and I also have Netspend. They get it to me at least the day before, if not 2days and always between 10-11 am Arizona time. (We don’t observe any sort of DST, only state that doesn’t)

People are getting their refunds without WMR ever updating. My sister has no bars and when she called yesterday they said you’re all good! It’s coming tomorrow! Of course they said her bank may hang on a couple days, but that’s neither here nor there. All I’m saying is wmr is not the authority to go on. Thankfully.

I would trust transcripts over wmr. If you can see 2014 but they’re all 000’s they’re processing them, if you do have figures there you can tell what’s going on with it by the codes listed. Even though IRS says you can’t and it’s a social media myth, that’s bs. Their handbook says what the codes mean and confirm the 846 refund issue code and the breakdown of cycle dates. Such conflicting info

This may brighten our spiritsa bit thru this “Waiting ony Refund” season…ladt year i filed and was accepted 1/31/14, a Friday. I used turbotax. No change from 1/31 until the moring of saturday, Feb. 8th. I got my DDD for Wed. feb12. I use Netspend so my money was in my account by 7 pm the night before- Tues the11th.
This year. I filed and was accepted Wed Feb 4……no change and its friday night. Hoping i wake tomorrow to a DDD!
Once it starts to happen, it finishes fairly fast.
What are your experiences this year filing on or around Feb. 4?

Cynthia – right! But I don’t go by those numbers. The reason I said 2-17 was because someone else updated and had a 3-2 issue date and her mail date is 2-17. Those numbers are just a general date – doesn’t necessarily mean it’s ten days before. Many people had 2-23 refund issue date and theirs were mailed 2-11 or 2-10. I just ended up in the 2-13 bunch.

If mine says 3/2.. I think that means Tuesday, 2/24 that’s the day they will mail it out or I should receive it by then?

I called the treasury early, still too early, IRS hasn’t sent them the funds for them to generate a check..

I stay in alabama and my mail date was on the 10th. I never got a ddd cuz it was rejected by the bank. But im sure it wouldve been the 6th

The manual says a code 766 is…IRS TOP Offset reversal w/OTN, Not exactly sure if that is that you owed an offset and they took it or if they took it and were not supposed, so they have to put it back…..I will see if I can find out more info

This is from the irs dot gov/Refunds/Tax-Season-Refund-Frequently-Asked-Questions an sounds very much like “no bars means under review”. But we know they aren’t being completely forthcoming here as people have seen bars disappear after being approved, and have gotten transcripts with cycle codes they could predict their DD from when there were no bars. So even the best information is somewhat, meh.

All I’m trying to say is don’t lose hope! I have abandoned all mine. It’s too late, the damage is done, I’m in repair mode now and will never count on a return again. For me, hope is the enemy of peace. But that’s just me

After you posted I searched for that and found there may be other unknown reasons? googling “when your bars go missing on wmr does this always mean your’re under review?” should pop up one instance where it might be for another reason.

I might suggest a poll feature to the keymaster here for next year, seems like it could be helpful for some things. Something as simple as My bars disappeared I (choose) was/was not under review – dozens of other things too

My transcripts have also been updated with 846 code and 3-02-15 date… It is such a relief to finally see a change on my return… I’ve missing bars since 1/31… And still missing now but my transcripts have been updated as of last night with the 846 info… Filed/Accepted 1/21 and also had cycle code 20150405. I did have an offset on my account but that isn’t the reason for the long delay. I switched primary between my husband and I and it caused it so yeah KEEP THE FAITH people it will come!!

So I called a tax advocate and got a case number.
\Then I called the IRS just to see what’s up since I cannot access my transcripts online (still with call IPSU-already did 2X)

Anyway, the rep told me ‘I see your refund is set to be release on 2/19’ Good right?
‘But there is a freeze’ What?!!
I asked what is the hold about? he said it was put there by collections. Now we have 0…ZERO debt from past years including this year. So I told him to transfer me to collections.

Spoke to the collections rep, who checked and gave me a ‘WTH’ response..i.e. I have ZERO debt outstanding including 2014. So I should not even be speaking to him. So I asked if he see a hold and what is it about..He said it originated from the department (refund) that I just spoke and it pertains to identity theft.

Again with the identity stuff…mind you i spoke to IDverify yesterday who said nothing was in their department regarding identity verification…and the times I spoke to IPSU they said this ‘alert’ erroneous or not will not delay my refund.
The collections guys..trying to be helful said anything with identity alerts will delay my refund.
OK..so why did the rep lie and say the hold was from collections and not try to remove the hold. sigh

Well, the good news if any is that they have 45 days from April 15 then they have to start paying interest – so in their good business sense (stop laughing hehe) we will all be paid by June 1st lol. Of course they have a bit of an out, they stop accruing interest 30 days before the time they issue the funds, so nobody has to be paid before July 1

However in my case, and I’d suggest it for anyone with time on their hands, I went back to 2011 and found some money I could have gotten there, and another year since then. One 1040x has already been “adjusted” and says I’ll have a letter within 3 weeks telling me all about it, but looking at the transcript for that year it shows a payout date of 2-23 so I should have that check in the mail by the end of the month. The other one will probably trigger an audit but the numbers are valid, so the more time they take, the more interest I’ll get. I’ll just wait until April 15th to mail that one (last possible date ever for a refund from 2011).

So by delaying me this year, they’ve cost the Treasury about 2 grand in unclaimed funds and interest (which seems to be around 5%) because if I got my damn money on time I wouldn’t have gone rooting around in past tax years for a little “revenge”.

Hey Shanni,

An offset might delay the refund. That 846 code is your golden ticket.
I had an offset last year and it prevented my refund entirely. Not that this could happen to you. If the offset is less than your total refund maybe it wont delay at all and the IRS will just deduct it directly. Good luck. Keep your head up.

FOR ANYONE WHO HAD THEIR BARS DISAPPEAR ON THE ‘WHERE’S MY REFUND’ SITE :

The bars disappearing means that your tax return is under review. Something in your return was flagged by the IRS computers or you had a previous tax issue (offset, etc.) in prior years that automatically causes this years return to be reviewed. From what I was told, the 21 day waiting period starts over from the time the review was initialed

Alex: I’m in the exact same boat as you. Filed on the 25th. Bars disappeared, all of that. When the bars disappear is means your return in under review. Somebody is actually looking at due to something the computers picked up and flagged. The other shitty part about this is that you can only call and check your status of your refund 21 days AFTER THE REVIEW WAS INITIATED. Which means the 21 day waiting period starts over when the review started. So not from the 25th. It blows big time. My review started on Feb. 8th so… Yeah

I’m with you taxonomy…I’ve been filing my taxes for 25 years, NEVER had a problem, and I budgeted in this year’s return. We are depending on it.

I had planned (and still plan) to begin saving a significant amount this year (the first year I ever could) but can’t do so without this refund to settle debts and pay bills first.

I don’t know bgreen, I finally called today – day 21, and she told me I had to wait until day 22 which of course is actually day 25 with the weekend and Monday holiday. “I can’t give you any more information than you can see online” You mean you won’t as in can’t because you’ve been told not to.

Quite done with it to tell you the truth. I’ll check my netspend card once a day over the weekend, call on Tuesday, then check once a week just to remain sane. Like a fool I counted on the money this year – never again. I’m just going to hunker down in disaster mode and ride it out – too much lost opportunity time chasing it down this year, too many angry moments, too much BS.

The 3/2 date isn’t meaningless, it’s the date your paper check would be mailed if you didn’t use DD.

The 2-18 date is correct, as verified with my ex, who works for the IRS. The date code translation that you’re seeing on this site is correct.

I had an accepted date of 2/5, and was accepted within 5 minutes of submission. Yesterday, my file was sent to review (all bars missing), and today, I ended up with my ddd date of 02/18/2015.

Don’t get discouraged and be patient. Your time will come. The amount of your refund does not matter as I got over 4k.

Here is my situation again for anyone who hasn’t read it.

filed and was accepted on 1/21 and had bars for 5 days. Since then my bars are gone and I get the “We are still processing” thing. Transcripts give me the identity theft message. My husband is exactly the same. I called the IRS last week and was told nothing was wrong as far as the identity theft and that transcripts load after 14 days.

I just got off the phone with the IRS and was told as of 2/2 there was an error of some sort found (she couldn’t tell me what it was) and that my return would take up to 8 we TO BE RESOLVED and then possibly another 6-8 weeks to be released. I could have lost my mind when she told me this however I remained calm because she was so nice.

So now I’m wondering is this the generic line they are handing us or is it really going to be May before I get a refund. I’m beyond fed up at this point.

You need to check your transcripts to see if you have any new codes. I have a 841 code and no other codes….it means refund was cancelled and it seems that means that they have to re-issue it but since most of us are weekly accounts, I am n ot sure if we will have to wait an entire week or not.

Other people got other codes, which means they are in review or some other issue.
