Timberowlhttp://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/Tax-Season-Opens-As-Planned-Following-Extenders-Legislation-2014
“The IRS will begin accepting tax returns electronically on Jan. 20. Paper tax returns will begin processing at the same time.”
http://www.irs.gov/Refunds/What-to-Expect-for-Refunds-This-Year
“The IRS issues more than 9 out of 10 refunds in less than 21 days. . However, it’s possible your tax return may require additional review and take longer.”
Ohhhhh it’s just the WAITING I can’t stand!!!!!!!!
The MRS.We filed our return in April 2013…as of January 2015, we STILL don’t have a date. I WISH our wait was 14 weeks. Well, at least we know what to look forward to THIS tax season, lol. Wish us luck!!
JessO@jasvan70It sounds like things are on schedule. No one really knows the starting date. I have read. Most likely by Jan 20th but have heard mid Jan is possible.

You do not mind ?AnonymousDid your refund go to your card ok last year?
ShermondriaI called the IRS and the agent said my 2013 was adjusted on December 11 but the check is not due to go out in the mail until 12/31!!!
I can’t believe this people are actually sitting on my check for 3 weeks!
To the person mentioning the transcripts, my record of account shows the refund cycle 20145202 and the date of 1/12/15. The guy said the checks come out of Austin, TX.
Akpmommy4I am soooo ready. I am doing my warm up exercises as we speak!! Igmr always helps take the stress out of the process so now that I’ve added the page to my bookmarks,… LET’S GO!!
scarlettI think “Raquel” was being sarcastic due to the attitude you showed in your first reply.
“To the person asking about interest….it is NOT 3% a day, good grief” You could have expressed that a bit differently. That being said, thanks everyone for sharing all this great information with us.I just wonder where/how will I report the interest when e-filing…..On what line?
Does anyone know?Again, don’t be snarky if you don’t like other people doing it to you.
CJR38Yes, the interest is taxable. And, why the apparently sarcastic, “ok, genius”? People here are trying to help each ither out and share information. Comments like this one suppress any desire to help.
RaquelOk genius. Can you please share wether or not are we going to pay taxes on the interest money?
Thanks.
CJR38About interest…. i found a reasonable answer to question. Interest is calculated at an annual 3% rate for the days that have elapsed since return was put into system, minus 45 days. So, if you mailed an amended return for 2011 on, say August 3, 2014 and the IRS logged it into their system on August 13, 2014, there’s no interest on any refund due calculated for 45 days from August 13th. After day 45, simple interest (as I understand it at this point) accrues at rate of .03/365 per day until the time an IRS guru approves the refund. So even though the govt may have had your extra money for years, you only get interest on it if the IRS takes more than 45 days tp process your return and approve a refund. So most of the time, a refund will get no or a very few days’ worth of interest. Hope this helps. I found it interesting, so I’m glad someone asked the question.
CJR38Helpful hint: if you call the IRS number noted on the Where’s My Amended Return website, do so as soon after 7:00 AM as you can reasonably expect someone to get their coffee and sign into a work station. The waits times are much lower than in afternoon…..2 to 7 minutes, as opposed to an hour or more.
Another hint: the website to check amended returns (Where’s My Amended Return?) is NOT up to date, no matter how often you’ll read this and hear this on robo calls. My return was processed Dec 3, according to an agent, and the website still shows the return as not having been processed….three weeks later. Apparently, many returns get shunted to some special place for processing, and there’s no feedback to this update website.CJR38Called IRS again and was finally given a date the check is scheduled to be mailed. IF they mail when they said, total time will have veen 5 months from receipt to refund. Pretty bad service, if you ask me.
To the person asking about interest….it is NOT 3% a day, good grief….it is 3% (annual rate), calculated for each day….so you’re looking at, roughly, .03/365% a day for each day . I don’t know when they start calculating interest, but if you’re like me, the govt has had a lot of extra money of mind for 3 years, and I didn’t get a cent of interest on it.shaquitaFile my taxes on turbo tax they were received feb 4th 2014 and never seen a status bar til yesterday Dec 22 2014 and my boyfriend just got a status bar too anyone knows if that is a good thing or not any info please help
RodWhat are the starting dates for this year?
Jbishop1001I’ve been ready for a long time, YES!
AnonymousHey Jasvan!!! Doing some stretching and warmups for the upcoming tax season lol trying not to catch a cramp lol
Going to be another wild year! I Hope things run smoothly. Don’t like what I heard today from irs chief but I think he’s just raising s ruckus with government over their budget cuts. So thankful we have IGMR. Over the years it has been much more informative and reliable than any place on the web. I will be doing my snooping and digging the Internet to help out as usual. Miss you all and see you soon!
SamI amended years 11,12 and 13, which they got in mid August. I spoke with an agent last week when my 16 weeks were up and he told me no to worry, that the IRS pays interest on the refund. According to him they pay 3% per day and it starts accruing 45 days after they got your amended tax return 1040X, and that they stop it once the check is issued. I’ve look all over the web to see how they compound that daily interest but to no avail, I would like to know (if you don’t mind) Did they pay you interest in the refund you got and if any how much over, was it substantial?
Thanks.
CJR38I filed amended return for 2012 in early August 2014. They received it, as noted on website ‘Where’s my amended return.’ I kept checking website but no change until 12 weeks passed, then the website notification was to call IRS..wait on phone was over an hour, but then got an agent who reported there was nothing wrong, just that the filing required combining two tax returns. I refiled as married filing joint for 2010 and 2012 after DOMA sections declared unconstitutional. The 2010 was completed in a few weeks and we got a refund. The 2012 one, however, has now been outstanding for over 18 weeks. An agent told me on a second call that it showed as having been processed in early December, but still no check. Wondering if other same sex couples are running into extreme delays in processing. This was not a complicated filing. Also wondering if getting a transcript will shed any light on the issues.
Joe De AverageHi guys,
I have a question that would like some answers here. Hope you guys can advise since it’s Thanksgiving tomorrow and IRS decided to close early which is typical and i totally understand that. Anyways, I filed my tax return for the year and claimed my niece and got the credit for the claim. Without realizing the fact that my grandparents claimed her as well on their tax return because she stayed there longer than six months so i wanted to amend my return using the 1040X. I completed the steps and will send the difference owed to the IRS next week. Here comes the question, my grandparents never received the fund for the year (yes, i just found out) it’s been on hold or pending or whatever. Now since i will be correcting this issue and sending in the 1040X, will the IRS complete their return and provide the return to my grandparents for whatever the amount they are entitled to? Please advise guys.. thanks a lot.
Psychmaj2I filed amended return for 2013 and mistakenly listed the wrong computation method although my amount was right. The IRS corrected the amount (which really was not the part that was wrong). I refiled and mailed another amended return on 6.13.14 explaining that I really used a tax worksheet to figure my tax instead of the tax tables. I go to Where’s my Amended return and always get a message to call in. Every time I call, which has been three times so far, I am always told they need another 30 days. This is RIDICULOUS!!! One tiny error. If they would’ve contacted me the first time instead of trying to correct it on their own, this could’ve been avoided. It is now 11.24.14 I STILL do not have the full amount of my refund. Does anyone have any idea who to write a letter or send an email to about this situation? I don’t have time or the patience anymore to sit on hold for an hour or more only to be told I have to wait another 30 days.
AnonymousI filed my return and it was accepted on 2/2/14. I was entitled to a $5300 refund. When I called to check on the status a couple of weeks after it was accepted, the system kept saying it was being reviewed. 90 days later, I got a letter saying they needed more information. I sent them receipts, cancelled checks, travel logs, expense trackers, etc. They were overnighted. Now, 200 days after initial acceptance, I call to check on the status of my refund. It said that my return has finished processing and no refund is due. I then call to talk to a person. They informed me that not only do I not get my large refund but I now owe them almost $4000. The lady who was reviewing said that she did not accept any of my deductions even though they had receipts to back up each and every one. I am so angry at this point. Do any of you know of any lawyers or anything I can do about this? When I told the lady I was getting a lawyer, she told me “The State of Mississippi is sovereign.” This is ridiculous.
deederGot ddd for the 20th with code 203….hoping an praying I don’t get offset…definately need $$$ right now..

know a few of the pictures aren’t loading properly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same outcome.SaundraI believe everything said was very reasonable.
But, think on this, what if you added a little content? I ain’t saying your information isn’t good, but what if you added a
post title that makes people desire more? I mean 8863′er | Where’s My Refund?
is a little plain. You could peek at Yahoo’s front page and note how they create article titles to grab people interested. You might try adding a video or a pic or two to get readers excited about
everything’ve written. Just my opinion, it would make your posts a
little bit more interesting.AnonymousHello. I’m new to the forum after waiting over 19 weeks to receive my refund. I’ve been filing an Injured Spouse Return for several years now and this is the longest it has ever taken to receive a refund; most of the time it is within the 12 to 15 week time frame. The IRS website only shows that it is being processed. I’ve tried calling the IRS at the 800-829-1040 number and also the 800-829-1954 number but I just receive the same information that is available online. In the past I didn’t have a problem reaching a live representative, however, this year it appears impossible. Since most every one here on this forum has said that they have spoken with someone at the IRS, would you please divulge what number you used and prompts used to reach a live person? I must admit, I don’t like using prompts that will send me to a person not involved with refunds and then risk upsetting them. Can any one help with this or let me know how long it has been taking others to receive their refund? Thank you.
StephaneThe IRS received my mailed form on 5/21/14 which I filed with an Injured Spouse Form. I called in July and asked the status. I was told (by a very rude person) that they did not receive my refund until 6/21/14 which is not true as I see the delivery date on USPS website. OK, so maybe that’s when the department received it. I asked when I could expect it and was told first of August. I called back the second week of August and was told that I was never told I would receive it the first week of August and it would be the last week of August or the first week of September. This was a bummer as my family was going on vacation the last week of August and I had really expected to use my refund for our trip. Still don’t have it. I called back again and was told September 11th – I am not holding my breath. The bad news is…my husband owed some child support, but we paid that in full so I no longer needed the Injured Spouse Form. I don’t know why it takes the IRS so long, but how much in interest and penalties would we be charged if we owed the IRS and took months and months to provide it??? (Not happy).
CarmenHi Nick,
After all that, have you received your refund? I filled my injured spouse on July 8th. I trying to figure out the status of my claim. Where can I call to get more info? Where did you call to get assistance on this? Thank you.RandySo taxes were accepted on 4/15 electronically. I expected 10-12 weeks so I did not even bother to call until July 15th. Was told it was processing and I would need to call back in 30 days. I waiting until August 13th and called, and was told it had not been 30 days yet. Then I got a letter on August 15th telling me they had not completed and needed another 30 days. Currently showing an account balance in my favor and a code 570. Any suggestions on what I can do to help speed this along. Coming up on 5 months…
IonaVery nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wished to say that I’ve
truly enjoyed browsing your blog posts. After all I’ll be
subscribing to your rss feed and I hope you write again very soon!NickI filed a stand alone 8379 after I did an ammendment on my 2013 taxes. I was first told 45 days, so I allowed it. After not hearing anything I called back and was told to allow another 30 days, so I waited. After 30 days I called back to get another run around stating to give another 30 days. I got fed up so I kept calling everyday.. Finally I was transferred to the injured spouse department.. I talked to a guy who was really nice and he opened a case in their department, he said allow 2 weeks for my entire refund to be issued.. Suprisingly I called Friday and was told my case was closed and a pending refund is being issued to allow another week or two to receive it… Hoping it comes soon, Ive been waiting for too long for this refund..

pissed offanyone expecting a dd of 8/13/2014 not get theirs today??
AnonymousFiled my return in late February. Finally was able to speak with someone at 601-923-7089 about 3 weeks ago. The nice lady said it was in process and they needed to verify my husband’s income with his employer. She asked for a phone number which I provided…..still nothing. No one has called to verify anything. This is ridiculous.
phyllis wilsonMy refund was e-filed on march 8th. Still processing. Come on it’s not that big of a refund but it is MINE and I want it. This absolutely ridiculous.
2013 TaxpayerWe did our taxes through Turbo Tax in February. Still says pending on their website. It’s alright for them to keep our money, but if we are 1 day late we get to pay a penalty. What’s fair about that?
ShelinaHello I mailed in my amended return and on wmar it says received on July 16th but on my transcript it doesn’t have my amendment on their just my refund that was issued in February any advise?
Mia PauloWe processed your amended return on August 1, 2014. If you have not received a notice and you would like to speak to a customer service representative, call 800-829-0582, extension 633, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will need a copy of your amended return.
What does this mean?
MikeMailed my return in mid-March. Almost five months later I have not received my refund. I have called the automated line at least 20 times and it always says the return “has not processed” and “no other information is available.” What does this mean? Anyone else having this issue?
C Clarkoh dear God! I just called the number, pressed “0” and it told me that all representatives are busy at this time….it doesn’t give you an option to hold, it tells you to call back later or go to the website and it disconnects you!!!
i am totally convinced it is some sort of scam, this is outrageous!
C ClarkAt least I see that I am not alone.
I filed my return in February as well and my status continues to say “received, under review” i tried to call today to speak to a human and i was routed back to the automated line.
i am going to try the number posted above and press “0” to see if I get some movement. this is beyond ridiculous!
philThey received my 1040x on 2/11/14 adjusted mid March completed 3/28/14 and as of today still no letter stating about my refund i didn’t even Receive a check what’s taking the irs so long i want my money now it’s been over 16 weeks
Hockey1933Two questions: My amended return was received 5/29/14 and still says “received.” How much longer should I expect? Also, i have tried about 30 times to get my transcripts, but they website always gives me the “technical error/problem”. Any idea on why this is happening? Thanks in advance.
MoniqueFor the benefit of making a pertinent product comparisons, we have looked at routers
in this variety that reveal similar characteristics for example IEEE 802.11n wifi standards, 2.4 GHz band and dual antennas.
Nothing significantly less than an n layer 3 switch is
highly recommended, if you’re buying new router. It might be a good idea to
enhance to your radio n router, for those who own a wireless-g

When should i actually receive it?
Bills backed up and still waitingI sent in my Injured Spouse form March 28, 2014 and they received it April 9, 2014. Then they started processing it April 16, 2014. I called at the end of May and they said that there was a credit on my account but they was not done completing my claim. I called back in June and they they said that my claim would take another 30 days and I should call back if I have not received anything by then. I called back on July 8, 2014 and they said my claim was still unprocessed and that i should give then another 30 days to complete my claim. Even though it has been while over the 45 days which was June 15, 2014. And know I have a Taxpayers Advocate to see why my claim have not been processed. So now it is almost 4 mo. in counting. So if you know the word of prayer please pray for me, and if you don’t keep your words to yourself. Thank you.
CarrieJennifer,
When did you file it? What day was it accepted?
JenniferMine says adjusted last night when should I expect my check
Andreadid you ever get your money?
MelissaDefiled in February, and it was accepted, but never showed on the MS site. I called and they said it was under review for 90 days, so more than 4 months later, I called again and the woman finally says they’ve finished reviewing and I should get it in the next week or two. I’ll believe it when I see it. Now the website says its under review instead of not there at all. I filed almost 5 months ago. Absurd.
VadaIts such as you read my thoughts! You appear to grasp so much
approximately this, such as you wrotee the bpok in it or something.
I feel that you just can do with some p.c. to pressure the message house a little
bit, but instead of that, this is great blog. An excellent read.I’ll certainly be back.
# IRS SUCKSwell i talked to 2 different people at the irs last week and they said that my check was mailed out on the 11th and that it would be here today and no surprise its not so here’s to still waiting 19 and a half weeks and counting
kginwatingalso my as of date was may 26,2014 reverted back to march 17, 2014.
people said that when your date goes backwards there is activity. i guess it was true in my case. but still no other codes were found and still no letter in the mail. TA suppose to call on fri lets see what he has to say. *what i already know smh*
kginwatingim still waiting. called the irs today to see if i could get and info. she was very nice and says after all the security questions that i had an adjustment to my account and told me the amount with i thought was low because im the injured spouse yes he made more money but he gets my education credit too. they say split down the middle my butt. im not even getting my ed credit let alone half. i do have a TA which was useless if i had to call the irs myself for updated info. i dont even care anymore its been to long of a wait. im suppose to be release next week sometime she says but didnt give me a date. it was a hour wait to talk to someone in the injured spouse dept i refuse to wait that long. next year if i do decide to work or go to school filing separate i will do he can have to kids finish paying his debt so we will not have this problem anymore. i didnt see any interest either so when it updates on the trannys hopefully i will tell me something. better than waiting on hold..
4 months
30 referral ended on 15th of this month.
filed feb 22 accepted feb 27JenniferGlad to know that I’m Not the only one waiting to hear something. 14 weeks and counting and still nothing showing when we’ll get our tax return.
GlennI am still wait on my 2013 Refund from Feb 8,2013
I have call the IRS every month and the IRS still send me the run Around & now on June 4,2013 I get a letter for TA say that the need some Documentation so they can Release my refund a TA agent contact me on June 20 ,2013 but I didn’t get any call WTF is going onCindy 2014I filed my return through H&R Block in early March. The MS web site showed my claim has been ‘under review’ for over 90 days. I just called 601-923-7089 and hit 0. It took a very nice lady 30 minutes to research and tell me that my large refund still being reviewed.
RichardI used TurboTax to file 2013 taxes. I decided to paper file because I have an Injured Spouse Form I have to do every year because my wife forclosed on her house before we got married.
I mailed the taxes with the Injured Spouse form on 1/12/14. I got notice from Where’s My Refund that papers were received 2 weeks later. Next day, it said processing.
Months go by, and no word from the IRS, no status update. My wife called and the lady said they have until 6/12/2014 to handle Injured Spouse Allocations. It is now 6/20/2014. 1 week after their deadline, my wife called again, and they said they were waiting on a document to be sent from another office (really vague).
I’m still “processing”.Who is holding these people accountable? Why is this so difficult? I’ve been waiting for ages to get my refund and the result is I have now been sued, because I was planning on using this money to pay off some debts. Now I’m screwed! Thanks IRS, go suck an egg.
AshleyBeanI just ordered my transcript online. I amended our return on March 1, IRS received on March 16, and we were told on the phone yesterday that we should be seeing our refund any day now. But my transcript is so confusing. It has a negative balance with a date of July 7, 2014 beside it. I have a 806 code, but no 846 code! Help!
DannyI filed on Feb 2 Accepted,I called the number and was told that its under review,Then called back a few days ago and told they are waiting on info from my employer, asked if I could help they said no just waiting to hear back from employer,I think its all a scam on the part of Mississippi we need to vote theses people out of power thats the only control we have,This is an abuse of power to the extreme.
KelleyI filed my taxes end of March with the injured spouse form, as of June 13th, it was 11 weeks. I called IRS and the lady said because of the work load, they had to reroute the returns. Mine was sent to a different person. She said to wait 30 more days. I was not a bit happy. They said it was a long process. uugh!!!!!! She did make some notes to maybe speed things along. But checked my refund status today and it still says being processed. I need the money!!!! My money.
Irritated Coast GalI efiled in April for a DD; my refund is still “being processed”. I have tried the numbers posted here to check the status, get nothing but an automated bunch of horse manure. Like the majority of you on this thread, I am getting pretty frustrated. Any other suggestions?
JbTax payer advocates are completely full of shit. Not only is the TA a liar so is her manager. I’ve been going through identity theft on top of a hardship. The TA manager said all my stuff was in the hands of the examiner and their is nothing she can do until the examiner is finished. They told me the only way they can contact the examiner is through email. I asked if I could speak to the examiner and she told me absolutely not. So finally I got to speak to an examiner today and if my TA would of picked up the phone and called my problem would be cleared up by now. The examiner said the TA can most definitely call them. So has I’ve been sitting here for over 4 months waiting on them to fix my problem, I have also caught my TA in a bunch of lies and called them out on it and then they would lie again. They are useless and full of shit.
