I will probably not get any of my refund. I was supposed to get around 7K this year, but I owe over 8K in student loan debt. I filed taxes tonight, and they were accepted within an hour or so. I called the offset line and it said that I had an offset by the department of education. I checked the website for myeddebt.ed.gov and it says over 8K.
My wife, who has more loan debt than me, has no offset.
It bothers me, because we needed this money to get many things caught up. We are a family of 4 with a third child on the way.
I NEVER got anything in the mail stating that they were going to offset this year. I tried to setup a payment arrangement about 6 months ago, but being as low income as we are I couldnt go through the proposed arrangement. We get collections calls all the time for my wife’s student loans, but not for mine.
I know I owe, and I would be happy to do an arrangement if we could afford it, but for right now we cannot afford to lose our refund.
Does anyone know how likely it is that they will take the whole refund? If there any chance that it can say there is a potential offset on the hotline but have nothing taken? No. That’s not how it works. There’s always someone to look over the refund and approve it. Even in hospitals, someone has to be there to monitor everything. Machines are known to malfunction and have errors.
I would rather our refunds get delayed by a few days and everyone there are safe and sound instead of having to drive in the hazardous weather to get to work just to get refunds out.
i got the same message. i think the one’s without option 3 are generic. but we’ll know on monday
cmI am under manual review. First time, usually my state is super fast. I have not changed anything from last year. I have had the same job and addy for 4 tax seasons. I don’t understand why if anyone I would get chosen. I have tried calling all day but keep getting a phone company message that all circuits are busy.
mellisaMy Fiancee filefd with HRBlock online, Wednesday 1/20/16 and it was accepted by IRS yesterdau the 22nd. So, it looks like they may not have a glitch this year.I filed my taxes with TaxAct on 1/7/16 and it was accepted on 1/11/16. I don’t think there’s any specific rhyme or reason to it really. Last year I filed with TaxACT it was ccepted within half an hour I had my refund within 8 days. Last year my fiance had filed with H&R Block like he did this year but he didn’t get his refund until the exact 21 days and it wasn’t accepted on time and hrblock sent message sayi
g there was an errpr which turned oit to be their system Because a lot of people waited a long time for their taxes that they filed with H&R Block last year.AnthonyFor everyone asking about your return I looked on Santa Barbra banks website under tax payer and answered the questions and I was accepted on1/11 said I would have my refund by 2/01 so u might want to check that out
ScottI saw on the news that there is a “historic” snow storm in the east and they declared a state of emergency in several states including Washington D.C. which looked to be getting the worst of it with up to 3 feet of snow.
Is anybody else worried that it might delay the refund process if nobody can get to work or if the power goes out at the IRS refund processing center assuming that it’s in DC?
I’m hoping that it’s a mostly automated system that can run 24 hours a day and t h at they have back up generators like hospitals and banks do. (At least my bank does)
AnonymousOr you could just get a cashiers check.
LameekaMe either…..I called and they said that they couldn’t see it in their system….and to call back in 14 business days
Kaylee@Babbs
You can write a check for as much as you want providing that you have sufficient funds in your account. Dealers have a limit on how much they can take from you via a debit card.
AE9xI got my DDD for my state for 1/25. Couldn’t have come any sooner, I need it for a psych co-pay. :) Hope you get yours soon.
KiminCOSorry, by “today” I mean 1/22 – I forgot the time posts as eastern time.
KiminCOI filed our taxes with H&R Block today, I got our accepted email about 12 minutes after the submitted email.
RynoSecond year of manual review. Last year it was an identity quiz. For crying out loud my federal refund is 20 times larger than my state, and the feds have no problems… Wtf Ohio..
JessicaI filed on 1/15 through TT.
Accepted federal on 1/19
California taxes has no info on my return, getting concerned, it’s always updated faster than federal and have gotten it 7 days after I’ve filed.I filed 1-20-16 with tt was accepted 1 hour later. Sbbt says should have mine by 2-10. But hopefully sooner. 1 bar on wmr.
I filed and got rejected with F1040A-372-03 stating to fix our return for the savers credit. Said ”
I got rejected with 1040A-372-03
“Detailed summary for the IRS reject code:
If Form 1040A, Line 34 ‘RtrSavingsContributionsCrAmt’ has a non-zero value and Line 2 checkbox “Married filing jointly” is checked (element ‘IndividualReturnFilingStatusCd’ has the value 2), then Line 21 ‘AdjustedGrossIncomeAmt’ must not be greater than 60000. ”AND this year it can’t be greater then $61,000. Apparently the IRS hasn’t updated their system yet to acknowledge the correct amount. I’m just stuck!
found out it’s a Savers Credit. At IRS site it says Married filing jointly with income not over $61,500……ours isn’t even hitting $61,000 so why I it kicking it out?
DesireeFilled 1/11/16
Accepted 1/12/16 federal, accepted 1/13/16 state
Went through turbo tax
State deposited on 1/20/16
Still at one bar on WMR
Not able to order tax year 2015 transcripts
TPG has not received my refundI got rejected with 1040A-372-03
“Detailed summary for the IRS reject code:

I know of no way to fix it. Will this set us back any? Calling Taxslayer in the morning to see what the world is going on. Never had this problem before.
CalmdownThank you Desiree for a detailed explanations.
RozilynI got accepted in about 5 minutes I did mines on tax act, and depending on what tax site you did your return on check with the bank put your information in and it will say if it is expecting to get your refund that way you will know that the IRS has contacted your bank that would be Santa Barbara bank or Republic Bank
Jose a padron negronI filled whit hrb on the 9 was my refund accepted by the irs? Where can i see the status of my refund?
AnthonyDear babes

Kaylee@annasmommy2 They have taken off the option to get your transcripts online this year.
JaclynAny updates on this thread?
vjizzleDo they accept on saturdau?
vjizzleH and r block. Yeah it’s usually really fast. I filed night of 2/21 and it’s been 34 hours now.
No acceptance yet
Filed with HRB at 1230 on 1/20, was accepted today 1/22 at 1100.
BabbsCan anyone tell me from experience, how much money can on withdraw from a credit union account at once? I am hoping to buy a “new” used car and need my entire refund. I just wonder if they can give it to me? Anyone with any information on that? Also, I filled on 1/7/16 was accepted on 1/12/16 and was told dd should be credited to my account on 1/29/16.
kalassy@Nara
Bars disappearing doesn’t USUALLY mean you’re about to get a DDD. It CAN mean that, but it can also mean your return is under review or your return has been flagged for an identity theft issue. Bars can reappear the next day or several months later.Linda EvansI filed my taxes with Tax Brain on the 8th and got accepted on 1/13/2016. From the past 3 years the IRS will move your bar on a Sunday morning around 8:00 am. Anybody that file before the 19th will get their’s 1 week ahead of the other’s that filed on the 19th. So when I say that your bar will move on Sunday. So we got two more days, unless your’s go up for review it can take longer.
Paulfiled 1-8 accepted 1-11-16 rec’d last year 1-30-15 hoping for 1-26-16 this year
January 22, 2016 at 9:13 pm in reply to: has anyone been approved or received ddd for state return Virginia #4116099E.Me.I was approved on 01/20 with my VA Taxes. I filed on 01/19, but the WMR site doesn’t show any refund info.
AlexI filed the 21st will I get my refund the 29th?
SammieI filed in office on January 21, 2016 my return was accepted by the IRS on January 22, 2016. I did not pay my fees up front either.
annasmommy2Filed and accepted 1/22. I’m probably still on a weekly schedule so won’t see anything for a couple of weeks.
annasmommy2That might be true about your bank, but all banks are different, some real ease immediately and some (like mine) release exactly on your DDD.
Also you can download your transcripts online, I do it every year.
mjI filed on the 19th at 9:30 am. To this moment I have not received any updates from hr block. Nor was I showing on wmr. I refiled with tt at 5:00 pm today. Showed up on wmr and got my email from tt that it had been accepted not even five mins later.
JessicaFiled the 15th. Accepted the 20th
ScottI hope that the snow storm they are having doesn’t delay the process. They declared a state of emergency in DC and are expecting up to 3 feet of snow!
DesireeTo “Calmdown”, to answer your questions, first, no-because you got accepted doesn’t mean you’ll be approved. It basically just means that they received your refund, and it matches what their system has for you (I.e. Your social security number and basic info like that is correct.) Now, about the way they are processed. And let me clarify that this is not fact, just what I’ve put together from what I’ve learned… I’ve heard several people state that everything is done electronically through the computer, unless there is an issue. But, somewhere in the last week, I read something while digging through IRS publications and their website that the computer accepts them and a person manually goes through to approve them. Based on the various things I’ve read, I think it is a little of both. I think it electronically gets checked to make sure everything adds up, the numbers are correct and make sense, and that it matches that person’s income and assets and that the person doesn’t have any offsets or anything that would delay their refund. This would speed things up. Then, I believe a person does whatever the final stage would be to push it through approval. I’m not saying I’m right about that, that’s just what I’ve put together from everything I’ve read.
RissI submitted on 1/19 and mine is also still pending – doesn’t show on the refund lookup site. Confused about why it’s still pending.
GLENNAFiled with HRB on the 20th, accepted on the 22nd. Pre paid fees with debit card. 1 bar on WMR.
AngelaRozilyn,
Please no below the belt shots here please. I’m sorry that I neglected to tell you that the reason that I lived with them was because I was in an abusive situation. Also, with child support I had plenty of income to be on my own, but needed the safety of their home because of the abusive situation. My parents were also given custody because of the abusive situation with my girls father, long story that you certainly are not privileged to. Thank you for your “advice”, please don’t judge.

AnonymousI filed and was accepted 1/19. Lets hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel soon!! :)
AnonymousSince it happened to me last year and I got my refund on the 29th I can’t say it means you’re under review. All I can do is go by experience. But I do believe we’ll see movement tomorrow.
JayI see a lot of people posting that they filed with HRB and saying they’re not being accepted, whereas the TT people got acceptance emails within minutes or hours. So my question is: a HRB just slacking on sending out notifications that the returns were accepted or are these same people not showing up on WMR either??
KatrinaI was accepted on the 14th, this morning it said it was aprroved and to wait 14 days from the issue date for my check but I requested direct deposit and there isn’t a issue date just a processing date.
@Calmdown accepted does not automatically mean accepted.
TaxslayerbabyYes I e-filed 1/4/2016 refund was accepted by IRS 1/13/2016. Everything was fine had one bar, Wmr went down for a while the 19th when came back I had no bars on the 20th. So I called IRS twice and was told they saw no issues. Called the offset line no offsets I don’t know what’s going on… ?????
JamesAccepted 1-11-15. Still on 1 bar hopefully we will get approved over the weekend last year I got my approval on a Sunday and got my money on a Wednesday. Heard that early filers process didn’t start until the 13th
lori39I am hoping and praying my bars DON’T vanish. Last year, they vanished and I was left in limbo until April. I was flagged by IPU and it took forever to verify and prove I was who I said I was. This year, the IRS gave me a PIN to use when filing, so I have my fingers crossed. Filed 1/11/16, Accepted 1/18/16, currently have one bar. I hope I have bar movement over the weekend. Good luck to everyone!
markRelax, we filed yesterday. Allow a few days or a week or two before you start going crazy over a DDD
CalmdownJust a quick question. Does IRS process all returns by computer or they are manually process by humans? Also, once you get accepted, does it automatically means you will be approved. I filled with TaxAct on the 19th and got accepted about 3hrs later.
whats upYour tax return is still being processed.
A refund date will be provided when available is what mine says today. I filled on the 19th and the same day it showed accepted with 1 bar and today it changed to what is stated above with no bar and tax topic 152. Did anybody else do this and I hope there is not a problem.JakeMine disappeared last year and I was under review. Got accepted on Jan 16th and got dd 3-25-2015.
AnonymousSo, for everyone that was accepted on 1/11/2016, that was just a testing phase, therefore if you have received your refund within the 7-10 days always, it does not start from this day it starts from the day that the IRS started processing returns which was 1/19/2016. For everyone whom was accepted on or before 1/19/2016, you all will be receiving your refunds 1/29/2016. Remain calm please, assumptions kill. Don’t need anymore stress waiting for refunds :)
January 22, 2016 at 5:53 pm in reply to: has anyone been approved or received ddd for state return Virginia #4116069AnonymousI don’t think they will do any update until Monday for *Federal* and about State will i live in California and this is what it saying now
We authorized your refund on Thursday, January 21, 2016.
Please allow:
10 business days to receive your refund by direct deposit, or
25 business days to receive your refund by check.
If we made any adjustments to your return, we will notify you by mail.
Just filed today, also with H&R Block, and it got accepted a little after 30 minutes of me filing. Now THAT was FAST. Last year, it took a few days for that to happen. Of course, we shall see how the next 2 bars move along. lol!
Wishing everyone a speedy refund this year! :)
BrookDoes anyone have the second bar on where’s my refund.
I also seen someone say we should get a direct deposit on the 29th if we were accepted on the 11th. Where did you find this?
Just curious. I don’t remember the site or the process taking this long. May seem longer to me since I did an early file this year.
Just curious.thank
JkayI have filed with H&R Block last 4 years and never had issues. I filed with them on 1/18 and was accepted the same day. Just FYI.
Nona45Use ex tax service filed at 11am accepted 2pm South Carolina

RozilynBut if you check with your bank that Santa Barbara, Republic TPG you can tell if the bank has been notified by the IRS I checked Republic Bank it says that my deposit has not been received yet that lets me know that the IRS have contacted them check it out
RozilynI did my own taxes on Tax Act will go through Republic bank filed on the 15th of January was accepted on the 15th of January I do believe everyone who fall between the 11th and 20th will get their approval by on Monday or Tuesday and will get that direct deposit on January 29th
January 22, 2016 at 4:50 pm in reply to: has anyone been approved or received ddd for state return Virginia #4116059RozilynI think no one will have and approval bar until Monday I think that everyone who file their taxes between January 11th and January 20th will get their checks on January 29th that’s only my assumption sometimes you will get your return and there’s no approval are given
MCRTHello.. Well, I filed my state and federal taxes on 1/19 with TT and today I went to check my state refund for Oregon and it currently is on the 2nd bar, but underneath that it says that I am under “Manual Review”.. UGH! I don’t know why I would be under manual review, as I never have been. This is the first year I am not able to claim my son because of a recent court order and OF COURSE something would go wrong. I don’t know if it is under review because I don’t have a dependent but I still claimed the daycare that I paid for him or what it is but I am frustrated about the whole situation to say the least. Has anybody else been put under review? Is it just me? I am hoping it is just an error on the site or it is happening to a bunch of people and is something small like an “extra look” that I won’t have to go through a long ordeal for..
CaseyMine finally changed to processing refund. Any day now!
