Just got my 846 this morning. Waiting on my second and 3rd bar to show up… won’t be long now…
Filed: 2/17 (waited for the PATH Act to end)
Accepted: 2/17
Transcripts blank: 2/19 – 3/4
Transcripts Updated: 3/5 with 846.
Filed and accepted 2/17. Waiting on my update. I decided to wait to file this year, just to avoid walking the PATH.
Same.
Ok, so with today being Presidents’ Day, we should be seeing some sort of movement starting tomorrow. I still have not checked my transcripts yet. I guess I will start tomorrow afternoon.
Fellow PATHer here.
Filed: 2/6
Accepted: 2/7Was a weekly for 6 years. Hopefully, when I see my transcripts, I will have updated to a daily. I don’t mind the wait, as I only see it as money pending in the bank. I will check my stuff on the 16th for updates though. Until then, it’s just a waiting game.
I usually look for transcripts when the bars and code 152 disappear.
Because it’s been there for over a week (if you didn’t claim the CTC or EITC) or, it’s been over 2 weeks (if you claimed the CTC or EITC). It will disappear by default after those times.
Usually that’s a good thing, because it means that your refund is processing and you should be able to see a transcript on the status of your refund via the IRS website.
2/7 PATHer here! Still processing.
You can check the IRS website for a definite answer, but I THINK it can take 2 to 4 weeks after processing for paper checks to be mailed. I’m not sure on this, so please don’t take my word for it.
I just filed today. Now walking the PATH. I don’t mind it though. After a few years of walking the line, you get quite used to it. I just made it my point to visit IGMR Forums and chat it up with fellow Path walking folk like myself. I’m just waiting my 24 hours before seeing WMR update to the classic PATH Act message. Anyways….HOWDY EVERYONE!

February 6, 2025 at 8:36 pm in reply to: I have kids and got my refund before February 15th. #4540792They made this rule to help with preventing tax fraud, due to people claiming those credits early and stealing the credits from parents/guardians who have legal rights to those credits. Most fraudulent returns cases come from those early returns. So they did this to block the frauds and protect the real tax payers.
February 6, 2025 at 8:31 pm in reply to: I have kids and got my refund before February 15th. #4540791Everyone who claims the EITC or the CTC will have to wait until after 2/15. No exceptions. If you had yours prior to 2/15 and you have claimed any of those credits then it had to be due to a refund loan that was given by your tax preparer. I know this, because I know CR’s, RO’s and RA’s that work for the IRS. There are no exceptions to the rule. They take this rule VERY SERIOUS due to people making fraudulent tax returns.
Filed 2/20 and still waiting.
To topic 152 is normal. Nothing to worry about. It basically means that your refund is being processed; and to give it 2 to 3 weeks.
This sucks. And I didn’t see anything concerning the rebate credit! The only payments that we got were the Empact stimulus, and the ACTC! When was we supposed to have seen the additional $3500? I wish I got notice of that supposed payment! I am so heated right now, but it’s mainly because I have to wait.
We’re in the same boat as you over here. Filed on 2/1; got transcripts with codes 971 and 570 on or about the 25th. Called the IRS….Waited 2 hours and 45 minutes before anyone answered the call, just to hear that we confused the ACTC or Empact Stimulus with the Rebate credit on line 30, and should have left it blank. Now they have us in errors, and it needs to be corrected, before our reduced refund is issued. ETA is 4/19 at the latest, she told me!
February 28, 2022 at 4:02 pm in reply to: Who can view trans with 570/971 and tax summary on irs website #4518397If you are a daily, you may see a ddd sometime this week. I wont be able to know until Friday, as I am a weekly and they will only touch my transcripts once per week.
February 28, 2022 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Who can view trans with 570/971 and tax summary on irs website #4518396I’m in the same boat, but i’m a weekly. If they updated your transcripts today, then that may mean that you are a daily (cycle codes ending with numbers 1 through 4 are dailys and ending with 5 are weeklies).
Anyone with updates since last posts?
February 25, 2022 at 6:25 pm in reply to: Sad weeklies who didn’t update today support group #4517899Check your transcripts! I’ve been checking mine every hour, and until 3pm MST, my transcripts showed N/A! I was FINALLY able to check my updated transcripts at 3pm! They update the transcripts throughout the day! Go and check! They may have updated your transcripts as well! WMR didn’t update though.
To all whom transcripts showed N/A earlier this morning, CHECK THEM AGAIN! Mine showed N/A until about 3pm MST. They update throughout the day, and not just at night! WMR isn’t updated yet though.
BTW, I filed on 2/1, was accepted on 2/2, had 1 red bar on 2/2 until 2/19, been on the delayed message since 2/19, and didn’t have access to my 2021 transcripts until today 2/25 at 3pm.
Praying for everyone to get DDD’s by this evening or Monday at the latest.
Just got access to my transcripts at around 3pm! No kidding, you guys…. I’ve been checking them since this morning, and had N/A until around 3pm. I think they update transcripts throughout the day, and not just at night! If you saw N/A earlier today, you might want to go and look again! You may have updated like I did! Just giving the heads up!
filed and accepted 2/2/22. No movement on WMR or on transcripts. Looks like everyone else left this thread and I am all alone.
Nope. I’m still here. Just reading the posts. Hopefully something updates for us soon.

Nope! I’m still here! Still waiting…. Just reading other peoples posts.
Since PATH started, I filed the first week of February, got the path message within 7 days time, was on the PATH message by day 10, stayed that way until the 17th (2 days after PATH lifted) , on the 18th I get my bars back with it showing 2 red. On the 23rd I always got my DDD showing with 3 bars for deposit on the 25th-28th so far like clockwork. No sweat.
Friday for transcripts and Saturday for WMR update and your DDD WILL NORMALLY FALL ON A WEDNESDAY
Nope! I’m a weekly, and I always got my refund on a Thursday 😂!
Also, I filed on 2/1; so its only been 10 days for me. Tax season started on 1/24 this year. I always make it my business to file in the first week of February if I could. A lot of early filers seem to get caught up in the “test-batch” and if you are a PATHer, then you end up waiting longer than those who waited until the season opened. People often forget that PATH affected filers will still have to wait until Feb 15th before their return is processed.
I still have my 1 bar. I wouldn’t worry about it, because there are still a lot of us PATHers out there what are sitting on 1 bar. I think it has a lot to do with processing times. The PATH Act doesn’t lift for another 3 days anyway. We may just jump to 2 bars this year, instead of the dreaded PATH message ;)
Oh, and No. They won’t stop the processing of the return that was already accepted. They will more than likely process her return, issue a refund, and if your records are correct…..Send her a notice of audit, where she will have to pay that money back. If she gets audited, she will have to paper file for 3 to 7 years for the sake of preventing fraud; and you may have to paper-file as well.
In the end, when all else fails; the IRS sides with whomever the dependent spends most of his/her residence. The only exception is if the other party has no employment or is disabled, in which case they may go based on whom has an income (of course).
You may need to get a letter from her stating the agreement, or show doctor / school records proving that the child lives with you for more than 6 months out of the year. In my opinion, if she really did it by accident, she would give you the difference when she gets her refund.
Well….. I may have a bit of bad news for you. While there is an option to have an agreement for dependent filing status, unless you can prove that your dependent was in your care for 7 out of the 12 months of the year, you won’t be able to get a reversal on the tax refund that your child’s other parent is getting.
Also, I’m a PATHer
I’m in the waiting pool too!
Last year I got a “still being processed” message after Ingot PATh message and had to verify my ID.
Delayed my return about a week. That happened to me too. I found out that some random person tried to file taxes in my name while using a stolen ID and random SSN. It took the service 4 months to get it right for me.
My husband works for the service. He said that while there are many reasons why this would happen, even at random for the returns that are completely fine; this is a big reason why your return may have this issue, and when they correct the amount, It wont always be the refund that you were expecting. Sometimes it will be more, sometimes it will be less (in most cases and do to an offset), and in very rare cases sometime no refund at all.
My guess is they are pulling returns, and ensuring that the correct information is being put into the system. A lot of people are filing their taxes, and claiming a credit / not claiming a credit that is due / and or not reporting or forgetting to report a tax form / and or W-2. When this happens, and the system recognizes it, It will kick it out as an error, and it may need to be reviewed for errors.
Oh… And I always equate the “Losing the Bars” to it being 2 bars, because some of us never see the 2 bar step. Especially those of us that are effected by the PATH act.
Now for the phases in the waiting game. Phase 1, wait for bars to appear; For me its usually 24 hours after submission… (1 bar = Refund Received). Phase 2, wait for bars to disappear; Usually within the first 7 days… (Que the dreaded PATH act message). Phase 3, bars reappear; This used to be within 7 days, but since PATH started it has been between day 14 and 17 *post bars disappearing*… (3 bars = Refund Sent with DDD).
Ok, so originally I was going to wait until the 15th to file, but decided to submit my taxes today. I figured, why not; and went ahead and did it. I know the rules for those of us whom walk the PATH this year, and since I had nothing else better to do this morning… I went ahead and hit that submit button. A couple of weeks in PATH act jail wouldn’t hurt. I’ve done it since it started back in 2018.
Anyone else whom claim to get the credit without these terms are trolling and probably are the same ones that come on IGMR every year just to troll and upset those of us whom are walking the PATH, just for kicks and their own sick gratifications. Its like @antsymomof4 said…. No one is above the law, and no one can escape the Feb 15th wait, unless you are not a PATHer or got the Pay advance.
Unfortunately, there’s no exception to the LAW that has been in place for years. The problem here is either the same trolls as every year that comes out to mess with people or people who are confusing CTC and ACTC and EITC
I agree.
I’d bet these people are the same ones that will be going on FB/Twitter and other forums on IGMR complaining about how they still didn’t get their refunds, come may 2022. Lying about getting their refunds and later complaining about not getting theirs. I found a few people doing this a few years back. Pathetic.
The only people getting early refunds are those who claimed CTC ONLY (this is not PATH worthy), and those whom claimed the EIC and or ACTC through a tax company, and got refund advances through their professionals companies (H&R Block/Turbo Tax/Walmart/ etc.
I figured why rush, when our taxes wont be processed until Feb 15th anyway, and why sit in limbo for 6 to 8 weeks when you can wait 2 to 3 weeks after filing to get your taxes anyway? It’s my sons first time filing, and I gave him the heads up that he will be waiting until at the very least, the last week of Feb before he sees anything in his bank account. He sounded a little disappointed at what I told him, but then he was reminded that it’s still money in the bank.
Just filed my son’s taxes yesterday. As we expected, He is walking the PATH too, as he claimed the EIC. I’m going to wait until next week before I actually submit my taxes, as I did since the PATH Act was put into place.
😊 In your case, you can count your $6000.00 credit toward what you will receive for your 2021 refund, granted you owe nothing for federal or state taxes.
If you didn’t get a payment last year, or if you opted out of the payments, you will get your payments in a lump sum with your return this year.
ides of February
Looking forward to the ides! It’s become a norm in my household 😂.
Hi everyone! Fellow PATHer here, wishing everyone a smooth tax season!
April 21, 2021 at 1:47 pm in reply to: Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided…” #4484933Finally able to see my transcripts today. Tax topic 152 came back last night. Filed March 7, and accepted March 8.
Finally able to see my transcripts today. Tax Topic 152 came back last night.
Filed: March 7
Accepted: March 8
Lost bars: March 21
Contacted IRS: First week of April (No errors told to wait 10 weeks *May 5*)Now in limbo.
April 9, 2021 at 2:14 pm in reply to: IRS RELEASES STATEMENT THAT MANY WONT SEE TAX REFUND UNTIL SUMMER #4483235All of those that filed February 12 through May 17th are known as seasonal filers, and those who file after the tax season closes on May 17, 2021 are considered late filers. So if what you mentioned is correct about early filers being jog-logged, then this doesn’t apply to those who filed after the tax season opened. I’m not saying that you are wrong, but what they did was misinformed you on who falls under what category.
Sources: Spouse, 2 aunts, and 1 cousin that works for the IRS.
April 9, 2021 at 2:14 pm in reply to: IRS RELEASES STATEMENT THAT MANY WONT SEE TAX REFUND UNTIL SUMMER #4483234“Early filers” aren’t those who filed after the tax season started. You are not considered an early filer unless you filed *prior* to the opening tax season date which in most cases those who file earlier than January 27th; however in this case it’s February 12, 2021.
March 30, 2021 at 8:23 pm in reply to: Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided…” #4478923Here I am wondering why my tax transcript is blank for 2020 filing, and looking in here, I’m seeing you February filers are still waiting?! With the slow movement of how things are going, I may as well be looking to maybe May or June for my taxes to be processed! Goodness gracious!
Anyway, I hope that you February filers get done quick, so that we March filers can get ours! Good luck you guys. *good grief*
Still waiting.
Filed on 3/7, and lost bars on 3/21. I checked my transcripts yesterday, and still haven’t seen anything posted for the return for the 2020 tax season. I’m not worried though. No errors other than my adding my unemployment and filing before the passing of the new bill. No offsets either.
Any news?
Filed: 3/7
Accepted: 3/8 (with 1 bar)
Bars disappeared: 3/26
Stimulus status: Received, but incorrect amount *amount was based on 2020 tax year*
Refund status: “Still processing”.This has been the longest time waiting for a refund, since paper filing over 10 years ago. I’m not worried; however I do find the wait a bit irritating.
March 17, 2021 at 11:30 am in reply to: Only half stimulus round 3 expected amount received #4473297I was supposed to have gotten $9800, and only got $7000. I don’t know what the heck is going on. I filed Married filing jointly with 5 dependent children.
March 16, 2021 at 1:34 am in reply to: Got my stimulus, wrong amount. Should have been more #4472391I filed on 3/7 and was accepted on 3/8. They should have had my 2020 tax year information, however they still have my stimulus to be deposited into my bank (2019 information) instead of my credit union (2020 information). This stimulus package bill was passed days days after my taxes were completed and accepted, so there is no excuse. The IRS dropped the ball this tax season.
Mine did the same, only to my bank account that I still have, but hardly use. It’s annoying, because now I’m thinking that the IRS is shorting me on my stimulus due to the amount of dependents I claimed last year vs. this years return.
I think you do still get one. Unless of course you owed more than what your stimulus amount is.
Im sorry, but with the tax season starting late this year (February 22, 2021), I thought that the PATH ACT wasn’t in effect at all. Usually tax season started in the last week of January, and the PATH would hold up filers claiming CTC and EITC until February 15th. How did this work this year? *I’m just curious*
I made sure that I filed and was accepted DAYS PRIOR TO THE NEW BILL BEING PASSED FOR STIMULUS! What is it!? Is the IRS not paying attention to new accounts being used? Why are they forwarding funds to prior accounts without updating? They shouldn’t be using last years banking information for my stimulus!
The bad news is I’m upset at the thought that I may not even get all of my stimulus amount back, because I claimed a new baby on this years taxes along with using another institution for depositing my funds!
Same here! The good news is I still use that bank.
I’m thinking that the error is coming to all of us who claimed CTC and EITC along with filing before the new stimulus package was passed last week. I could be wrong about this, so please don’t take my word for gold.
Mine is the same. I think it’s because I filed on March 7th which was prior to the new stimulus bill being passed. When I call the automated number for the status of my refund, and put in the amount it tells me that my refund is still processing. I’m guessing that for those of us that filed prior to the new stimulus bill being passed, it is due to them correcting the amount of our refunds. I could be wrong, but it’s just my guess.
Shimmy DDD of 3/17!
Hi all! 😀
Filed: 3/7
Accepted: 3/8
Claimed: CTC & EITC
Status of refund: Processing
Status of stimulus: Processing
But…… now that I know that the EITC and CTC will only apply to next years tax filing season……I do believe that delays just may come in with the stimulus payments that will be going out according to the H.R. 1319 bill that was passed in the house of representatives on 2/22, passed with amendments in the senate on 3/6, and approved then passed again in the house today 3/10. All it needs is the presidents signature. I could be wrong, so don’t quote. I’m just guessing.
Thanks for clarifying this information. I was sending messages “not trying to misguide anyone” but as a form of guessing the scenario as to why refunds were delayed. So to all that may have seen any of my misguided information… I do apologize. It is NEVER my intention to misguide, as I try to be as informative and honest as possible.
