And with any forum you are always have a person who is lying or keeping things going when it’s not necessary but who’s to say that that person is lying I know I don’t have two bars lol

I’ve been preparing taxes for myself and other people for 6 years and what I said is totally true , I never filed for free so I’m talking to the people who filed their taxes and paid for their returnI wasn’t talking about the people who did theirs for free

I meant to say i used THEIR EMERALD CARD every year. Didnt pay fees upfront. Last year I was flagged got refund in March. I pray this don’t happen again.

I had submitted the 15th and waited until the 20th for my acceptance. I believe it has been an ongoing hr block issue this year…

Ok, I filed on 1/19/16, my federal and state were accepted the same day. As of 1/22/16 my state (wi) has been processed and completed. I received a ddd of 1/27/16. I have received federal and state on the same day many times in past years. As of right now I am still at one bar on wmr. I am waiting on a very big return, I hope it updates soon but all we can do is wait. Good luck everyone

@Rozilyn That only works if you’re getting fees taken out. If you choose to have fees taken out from your tax return, it goes either to Santa Barbara Bank (HR Block) or Republic Bank (TaxAct) then they disburse it to you after fees are taken out. If you filed through them and paid your fees upfront and not having any fees deducted from your tax refund, the IRS will deposit it directly to your bank account.

If I had gotten notice of them trying to garnish my federal return I would have challenged it on the basis of hardship, but I never got anything for it. I work as a pizza delivery driver right now. I make very little money. I used to have a decent job, but I got sick and had to move cross country in order to survive. This delivery job was the only thing I have been able to find.
I have an interview for a decent job here in less than a week, but it will still be a couple months, if I get the job at all, before we start getting income from it. In the meantime we are sinking further and further. Our bank account balance is over 500 bucks over drawn, we are behind on rent, and we are trying to get other bills paid off.

This return would have taken care of everything we needed and given up a leg up. Now, I am worried that it will all be gone.

I will probably not get any of my refund. I was supposed to get around 7K this year, but I owe over 8K in student loan debt. I filed taxes tonight, and they were accepted within an hour or so. I called the offset line and it said that I had an offset by the department of education. I checked the website for myeddebt.ed.gov and it says over 8K.
My wife, who has more loan debt than me, has no offset.
It bothers me, because we needed this money to get many things caught up. We are a family of 4 with a third child on the way.
I NEVER got anything in the mail stating that they were going to offset this year. I tried to setup a payment arrangement about 6 months ago, but being as low income as we are I couldnt go through the proposed arrangement. We get collections calls all the time for my wife’s student loans, but not for mine.
I know I owe, and I would be happy to do an arrangement if we could afford it, but for right now we cannot afford to lose our refund.
Does anyone know how likely it is that they will take the whole refund? If there any chance that it can say there is a potential offset on the hotline but have nothing taken?

No. That’s not how it works. There’s always someone to look over the refund and approve it. Even in hospitals, someone has to be there to monitor everything. Machines are known to malfunction and have errors.

I would rather our refunds get delayed by a few days and everyone there are safe and sound instead of having to drive in the hazardous weather to get to work just to get refunds out.

I have had the same job and addy for 4 tax seasons. I don’t understand why if anyone I would get chosen. I have tried calling all day but keep getting a phone company message that all circuits are busy.

So, it looks like they may not have a glitch this year.I filed my taxes with TaxAct on 1/7/16 and it was accepted on 1/11/16. I don’t think there’s any specific rhyme or reason to it really. Last year I filed with TaxACT it was ccepted within half an hour I had my refund within 8 days. Last year my fiance had filed with H&R Block like he did this year but he didn’t get his refund until the exact 21 days and it wasn’t accepted on time and hrblock sent message sayi
g there was an errpr which turned oit to be their system Because a lot of people waited a long time for their taxes that they filed with H&R Block last year.

I saw on the news that there is a “historic” snow storm in the east and they declared a state of emergency in several states including Washington D.C. which looked to be getting the worst of it with up to 3 feet of snow.

Is anybody else worried that it might delay the refund process if nobody can get to work or if the power goes out at the IRS refund processing center assuming that it’s in DC?

I’m hoping that it’s a mostly automated system that can run 24 hours a day and t h at they have back up generators like hospitals and banks do. (At least my bank does)

From the past 3 years the IRS will move your bar on a Sunday morning around 8:00 am. Anybody that file before the 19th will get their’s 1 week ahead of the other’s that filed on the 19th. So when I say that your bar will move on Sunday. So we got two more days, unless your’s go up for review it can take longer.

It basically just means that they received your refund, and it matches what their system has for you (I.e. Your social security number and basic info like that is correct.) Now, about the way they are processed. And let me clarify that this is not fact, just what I’ve put together from what I’ve learned… I’ve heard several people state that everything is done electronically through the computer, unless there is an issue. But, somewhere in the last week, I read something while digging through IRS publications and their website that the computer accepts them and a person manually goes through to approve them. Based on the various things I’ve read, I think it is a little of both. I think it electronically gets checked to make sure everything adds up, the numbers are correct and make sense, and that it matches that person’s income and assets and that the person doesn’t have any offsets or anything that would delay their refund. This would speed things up. Then, I believe a person does whatever the final stage would be to push it through approval. I’m not saying I’m right about that, that’s just what I’ve put together from everything I’ve read.

I’m sorry that I neglected to tell you that the reason that I lived with them was because I was in an abusive situation. Also, with child support I had plenty of income to be on my own, but needed the safety of their home because of the abusive situation. My parents were also given custody because of the abusive situation with my girls father, long story that you certainly are not privileged to. Thank you for your “advice”, please don’t judge.

All I can do is go by experience. But I do believe we’ll see movement tomorrow.

So my question is: a HRB just slacking on sending out notifications that the returns were accepted or are these same people not showing up on WMR either??

Last year, they vanished and I was left in limbo until April. I was flagged by IPU and it took forever to verify and prove I was who I said I was. This year, the IRS gave me a PIN to use when filing, so I have my fingers crossed. Filed 1/11/16, Accepted 1/18/16, currently have one bar. I hope I have bar movement over the weekend. Good luck to everyone!
