The Best Ever
hang in there guys, i got word that the system may be ready to process us on Feb 11
AnonymousAccepted 1/24 processing no Dd
AnonymousMy story:
I filed on 1-17 with Taxact.
I was accepted on 1-24 around 2PM.
I filed 1040A, married filing jointly with 5 dependents (our 5 kiddos), and 2 w2s.
Checked this morning with WMR tool and could not get an update.
Eventually tried the hotline and got the processing…21 days message.
I have tried multiple times to order a transcript with no luck.
I JUST WANT A DATE!!!DannyCI filed the 26th and was sent a email from Jackson Hewitt saying my refund was accepted the 27th. I checked WMR and it says processing with the bar and everything..so heres to hoping that the early filers are being processed as usual. If not hopefully I can be rejected and then re-file without the form…
CharlesI was accepted on the 24th. I checked WMR this morning at 7am MST. It worked fine and showed a DD of Feb 1. I have checked it 6 times throughout the day, including 5 minutes ago and it has worked fine and stayed the same every time. For comparison with you guys, I filed a 1040EZ, single, no dependents, and only a 1099-SA for my HSA. Sucks that it looks like it’s holding up for you. It wouldn’t be surprising to learn though that WMR still has a few issues and that they are working them out.
AnonymousI filed on 1/29 and was accepted today called wmr and it says processing and could take up to 21 days! BLAH :-(
MattFiled with turbotax on 1/24, got accepted 1/27.
On the where’s my refund today (1/30) it says to “payment being sent to bank on 2/1 and if not seen by 2/6 to contact them.
I have to say this is the fastest in my history of filing if it really hits when they say.
Just wanted to share my story and I will keep it updated.
-Matt
HeidiI filed on the 20th and got accepted on the 28th. From all the reading Ive been doing the irs isnt doing weekly deposits this year. With the new system they are also testing testing daily refunds! I will not swear to that though. I was reading about the new Mef system today :)
AnonymousFiled with JH on 21st Received Acknowledged email on the 28th , no info still on WMR site. IRS hotline says received and processing. SBBT site says no refund received still. Please post your status update my fellow 28th ACCEPTANCE fans.
ConnieTT just sent me this… finally, official word!
Important Information About Your Federal Tax Return
Process delay for higher education credits
Your return has been accepted, but on January 28 the IRS announced that all returns like yours, with higher education credits, will be delayed for processing until sometime in mid-February. The specific higher education credits include the American Opportunity Tax Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit, found on Form 8863.What this means
Don’t worry, your return is still accurate, and the IRS has accepted it. However, because it contains Form 8863, it will not be processed until the IRS is ready, and your federal refund will take a little longer than expected. This is a nationwide issue for everyone who is filing Form 8863, no matter who is preparing your taxes. What you can do
Keep watching your email. We will keep you updated with the latest information from the IRS about your return.AnonymousI also was accepted 1/24 10:38 pm pst and am showing “processing” on the WMR and also the 800#. My hubby spoke to an irs agent today and was told our return has been processing since 1/24 it hasn’t been flagged for anything and to expect our refund in 21 days. I am so hoping I update to a DD in the morning!
MelissaFellow 8863’er here.
Boy this website is addicting! I filed mine on the 24th and was accepted on the 26th, and I cant access thw WMR site, it says they have no info on me, and when I called the 800 #, it said the same thing as others have heeard, its processing, 21 days, blah blah blah.. I too wish I would of known this before I field, I would of left off the 8863, and just filed it later on.. Ugh..
@ Lina, I sure hope that 2nd IRS person you talked to was right!I just wish the WMR site would at least show some kind of information..
So we wait…..PMVery early this morning the “new” WMR site showed the return was accepted and said it would be deposited within 21 days. I just check when I was shutting down my web pages and thought what the heck, maybe it will be good news (but not expecting anything different).. Boy was I wrong… now it cannot located my return… Hoping it is processing to the next phase, but worried something else may be happening. I got to be a chosen one last year too and my return got stuck in their system for over 2 months.
LinaHi fellow 8863ers. First let me tell you that if you check WMR too many times in one day, it will basically block you and tell you nothing is found. It has been like that for years. I think it’s for your protection in case someone got your info. Also after speaking to one IRSer that didn’t even know there was a hold on 8863, I called back & the next lady said they should process 2/11. So by logic conclusion, those who got accepted last week ( w/o 8863 ) are getting DD on 2/1 we should get it a week after 2/11. Fingers crossed and we should all keep in touch and post when ours has been received.
AnonymousFiled on 1/29 didn’t get accepted until today (1/30), keeping an eye on this board hoping that you all put up good news and I’m a day behind hehe!! FINGERS CROSSED FOR US!
AnonymousI filed 1/29 and was accepted same day. Today WMR says received and processing also. It would be REALLY nice to get a DD on 2/1.
Verucaliseaccepted 1/25, both WMR and phone say processing, up to 21 days. Cannot order tax return transcript. Easy return, 1 W-2 and just married with children.
me123That would be awesome.
PMThe IRS accepted my tax return on 1/24/2013 at 12:35 PM – Any idea or hope for a DD date?
PMI got accepted “Date: Thursday, January 24, 2013 12:35 PM”
Both WMR and the phone line says the same thing… Accepted and a refund will be issued within 21 days. Any other 24th acceptance out there that didn’t get a DD date?Dani@Crys, filed with H&R block on the 27th.. not sure if it was “accepted” beacause the IRS didnt start accepting the returns until the 30th,but I know a lady that works thre that entered all the returns in the system the next day so that when the IRS started to accept them on the 30th all of us that filed that day and before would already be sent to IRS…
but like I said before mine was showing through the IRS WMR site earlier .. now it isnt showing anymore .. who knows .. always something every year.. Im not goign to expect mine anytime before Feb 21st..CrysMine was accepted on the 26th and I checked the WMR around 1pm and had the processing bar, just rechecked it and same thing. Called the number and it says they received it and 90% get their refunds in 21 days yadda yadda… had I known this was going to be an issue I would have filed without that form and amended later :( some of us rely on this money for things that we can’t afford any other time. Like I need a new laptop for school and I need to fix the car that’s broken down outside that I havent been able to fix for 4 months. Ugh…. I miss paying H&R Block ridiculously high fees to have my money super fast :/ Seems like it takes the IRS longer and longer every year
MistiMe too. It seems like refunds are taking 7 days so I’m thinking we may see ours on Tuesday.. Hopefully :D
Dani@Connie.. the same thing happened to me earlier .. return accepted .. but now cant find me or I entered my info wrong.. and I didnt file with the 8863 (whatever that is)
The Best Everlol, we have to stick together sister.
taxseasonballerMine has no bar or meter whatsoever, but my gf’s does, so I have no clue either
Connie@YourTheBestEver :-) You made me feel better just knowing I’m not alone!
The Best EverYeah mine was showing online also with the return accepted bar but now its not showing neither, suggestions?
Connie@Jackie 1/24. And it showed the tracker bar earlier today with only ACCEPTED filled in and the usual 21 day notice, now it is like years gone by where it shows nothing – like they don’t know you telling me I might have entered my information wrong. Just checked again, same thing. Perhaps this is like someone said, that they are doing them by hand or something. I should stop reading this site, LOL, I’m not all the concerned about it just makes me wonder, you know?
Jackie777Connie- When did you get accepted? Mine says accepted but not acknowledged?? My current status:
2012 Federal Personal
TurboTax Electronic Postmark: January 25, 2013 10:04 PM PSTStatus: Pending
What this means:
It takes the IRS about 24 to 48 hours to process efiled returns. During that time, they are considered “pending.”
Next step:
Come back here later (we suggest waiting 24 hours), or check your email. We’ll notify you as soon as your return has been accepted.
What’s the current IRS status on processing returns?
Hide Efile History
Sent to Tax Authority | 01/27/13 01:16:17 PM
The filing has been transmitted to the agency and the agency has accepted (but not acknowledged) the filing. The system is now waiting for an acknowledgment message from the agency regarding the filing.Received by TurboTax | 01/28/13 06:27:06 PM
Your return has been received. You can expect to receive an email acknowledgment within 24-48 hours, indicating whether or not your e-file was accepted.Connie*sigh* mine showed the Accepted bar a few hours ago on WMR, now they don’t find me. Wonder if they are holding it or kicking it back. Time will tell.
GAH2004I contacted Turbo Tax to figure everything out and basically everyone who had been accepted early and approved, the IRS is holding on to those returns and if you were not accepted yet Turbo Tax will send your efiles out when issue is resolved.
This is some of the info I was emailed after speaking with a Turbo Tax rep.“Thanks for reaching out. It’s good to hear that your return was accepted. Because your return has the form 8863, IRS will start processing refunds for returns like yours starting mid February. Don’t worry if your tax return has this form, you don’t need to do anything on your end. After mid-February, you can expect to receive your refund in 21 days or less. You can read more here: http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/iq/Efile/IRS-Announces-January-30-Tax-Season-Opening–What-You-Need-to-Know/GEN85071.html?direct=true”
Hope this helps.danawhat is sbbt? ty
DaniWMR is now working
Jackie777Hi- I filed with Turbo Tax Friday Jan 25 at 10pm and my husband and I both had a 1098 and filed form 8863. My current status says in line for processing and a link under the message that read:
by TurboTaxBlogTeam January 30, 2013
What is the current IRS status on processing returns?Last updated 1/30
Congratulations of finishing your taxes!
We know how important your refund is to you. Good news, there are currently no processing delays for TurboTax customers.
The IRS started processing returns on January 30th. Returns will be processed in the order they were submitted and as soon as your return is accepted, we will notify you by email. This notification could take up to 24 hours.
The IRS estimates that you should receive your refund within 21 days of your return being accepted. The IRS issued more than 9 out of 10 refunds in less than 21 days last year and expects the same results this year.
Once your return has been accepted by the IRS, you can track the status of your refund by logging into your MyTurboTax account.me123Filed with tt, accepted same day. Irs site says received and processing.
aaronNo I was told 15th the soonest. I have a feeling it will change to the 8 th tho
kelhelmsetWMR site down for me. Called the number and received the “being process and you should receive your refund within 21 days” message. I got the “accepted” email from TurboTax on 26/1.
MattAnyone accepted from thr 26th or 27th have a ETA yet?
AnnPhone number says received and being processed should receive within 21 days.
MattI was excepted on 1/24 and I can’t get any WMR or the phone number…hopefully I get the same as everyone else excepted on 1/24…anyone else have anything pending?
SandyI filed on 1/17 with a form 8863 and was accepted on 1/24. Before the site became unavailable this morning it had said that my return was received but still being processed. No date, just the 21 day statement.
CelesteWhat does WMR say for those of you who filled with the 8863 form and was accepted? I filled on 24th and accepted 26th with the 8863. WMR says “We are sorry Where’s My Refund is currently unavailable. Please try again later or call the Refund Hotline at 1-800-829-1954.” I’m hoping since we’ve already been accepted and now on hold we’ll be the test batch so we’ll get it back faster then midfebuary.
MeCall the number. The WMR isn’t working but 1 (800) 829-1954 will give you your info. Mine was accepted 1/23, I paid fees up front…DD set for Feb. 1st.
AnnAccepted 1/27 war says currently unavailable.
NaeI was also accepted on 1/25 but when I checked wmr they have no information on it. So I the irs and the lady i spoke with stated that she doesnt even see any returns since last year. So who knows when we will be getting ours. We filed tt on the 5th of Jan.
AnonymousI was accepted 1/25 also…just got a pending deposit in my Account Now card set to post on fri!! :)
AnonymousI was also accepted on 1/24 and got a DD date of 2/1! :D
ArinoreAccepted 1/24/12, the WMR says “Your tax refund is scheduled to be sent to your bank on February 1, 2013,” so looks like those of us who were accepted early will be processed rather quickly.
BookI filed on the 12th, accepted on the 24th with turbotax, paid to file so no waiting on a third party to take their cut. Expecting a DD in my checking account. Is there a reason not to have it go to a Checking account? I really dislike all things walmart….
AlizeI’m still waiting also .. :(
Divine kmazI used freetaxusa.com as well. I filed on the 8th and accepted on the 24th and I wished I would have used another account besides my checking for dd. I’m still waiting
AlizeI was accepted 1/25.. i filed with free tax usa.. so no fees are going to be taken out.. i also opt for dd with my walmart card like i used last year. Is anyone else hopeful for a DD today???
MichelleWe we’re accepted 1/24, I work for one of the bigboys that was guaranteed a spot in the hub program, so filed there to guarantee early acceptance. My manager has been telling us expect to see checks this week, because the whole purpose of this program was to try out new systems before the bumrush. I’ll stop back in if I get news of mine or hear about people who were accepted on the 23rd getting money.
CorizonHi All :) Back again too :) Loved this site last year :)
AnonymousMoney!!!!!!
Matt ArnoldHopefully since we were chosen as testers and accepted early, our returns will be at the top of the queue tomorrow. :)
I know right? I feel like a test subject. Guess we’ll know something tomorrow…hopefully.
AnonymousI just wish that they would give us early folks info that way we know what is going on.
dphillipsConnie,
The delay is with any return that has Form 8863. And yes, the bug was discovered in the new system after they accepted some early returns. My guess is that it won’t take until mid-February for them to fix the issue, but they are no doubt trying to give themselves some wiggle room. :)
AaronWow i feel like a complete idiot. I did the same. I bought the software and got federal free.
I used the free edition of TT, so I didn’t have to pay any fees. I’m having my refund DD into my checking account.
Aaron7:23am est still nothing on sbbt website. Am hoping at 9am est which will be 6am pst the website will update and my info will be on there. I kinda expect to see my refund on the 7th or 8th but hope for the 1st.
aaronSame, but have either of you had ur info added go sbbt website yet?
ConnieI keep reading this for 1040, is it any different than for 1040A? Heck, I’m happy to get a refund, so it’s OK if it comes later. I am guessing this bug was found after they started accepting them? Education Credit form has always hung up early filing, I’m surprised we were able to fill it out at all this early.
I was also accepted on 1/27/13. Filed with TurboTax on 1/25/13 :)
chadmhttps://cisc.sbtpg.com/index.aspx here is the site that lets you check sbbt to see if they have deposited money there from some of the tax preparers
I have a account now….not sure if that is a good sign or if it is just part of the process…lelewhyHello, Im a 8863er I filed on 1/18/13 was accepted on 1/25/13. In 2009 I was a victim of ID theft and my taxes were delayed for 3 years from that point on. This year I was told I was able to file with no blocks now Im delayed because of school credits crazy. Let the waiting began.
AnonymousMine was accepted on Sunday 1/27/13 I filed with TT on 1/25/13.
Anonymousthis is what I found sunday on the tax wise blog
IRS EFile: Delayed Processing of Form 8863The IRS announced on an industry call with software vendors participating in the Controlled Launch this morning that they would start rejecting any e-file that contains Form 8863 (Education Credits) effective immediately.
What does this mean for returns that you have already sent to the EFC, but have not been sent to the IRS?
Any return that you have sent to the EFC that has NOT been transmitted to the IRS that contains Form 8863 will be rejected by the IRS with either Reject F1040-419 or F1040A-419 Form 8863 is not being accepted by Modernized e-File (MeF) at this time .
Will the EFC reject any e-file that contains Form 8863 to the ERO instead of sending it to the IRS?
No, we do not crack open the e-files at the EFC, we simply batch them and send them to the IRS. Any efiles already at the EFC will be transmitted to the IRS.
Will you be issuing an update to the US 1040 module to prevent the e-files from being created?
Yes, we are working on creating US 1040 v 4 that will prevent you from creating an e-file if the return contains Form 8863
What will happen to the e-files that the IRS has already accepted that contained Form 8863?
The accepted e-files that contain Form 8863 will be held for processing by the IRS until internal IRS programming can be made to accomodate the processing of these returns.
Will this impact when the taxpayer refunds are processed for any accepted returns that contain Form 8863?
Yes, the accepted returns are being held, which means they will not be sent to refund processing.
hope this helps a little
AnonymousI don’t believe the IRS has decided what they are exactly going to do with the early filers who were accepted with Form 8863. It is likely they will hold them until they can process them.
There are over 3 million people who file using Form 8863 each year, so this has a huge impact. I doubt this will take long to fix.
mustanggrlFiled 1/22 accepted 1/26.Form 8863 included in filing. I am a single mother of four, work full time and am a full time student. Just going to wait and see what happens, but I am hoping that those already accepted will be processed before mid Feb to test the fixes to the system. It seems to me that they identified a problem and once they think it is fixed they will use returns on hand to run through to ensure the fix is good before opening for those who have not been accepted yet.
AnonymousThat is a question that I can not answer, It could be stored as they fix the issue, I would assume that if they were going to be kicked back that would already be happening. I hope for all of you that it comes sooner than later because waiting is horrible :(
chadmWhat happens to the returns of the people that had already filed a 8863 form…i had filed with one already and was accepted.
