Here’s the thing. I pulled the photo and ran it through an EXIF data reader…it shows the image was modified today…meaning photo shopped. That explains the hesitation to share anything without being asked, doesn’t it? Disappointing.
JamieFiled on Jan 16th, accepted same day (an hour after), WMR on 1st bar since the 16th
ShareeI WAS REJECTED LAST YEAR. THE IRS HAD MY DATE OF BIRTH INCORRECT. THEY SENT ME THE EMAIL THROUGH TT AND I FIXED IT THE SAME DAY AND WAS APPROVED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY.
Anonymousthank you and good luck :)
AaronI filed with TaxSlayer on 1/16 and got my message that it was accepted today around 10 am central. On IRS it shows with one orange bar and topic 152..
AnonymousLOL Good luck to you!
Anonymousyeah im sure questions will be asked lol
AnonymousYou know everyone will be asking you:
When you filed, when you were accepted, what service you used, when and how did WMR update, and all those goodies…better spill it now so you can have a thread to cut and paste from. LOL
AnonymousIf that is the truth, you gotta let us know if you actually get it Thursday. Good luck, if true, I hope it is for you. I only say if true because some people can get really crafty…call it the burden of being the first to have/show it. ;) Nothing personal, alright?
pat mhas anyone been accepted that used hr block
AnonymousAccepted by the IRS means they have received and are reviewing your return. During this time they can reject or approve. The confusion here may be terminology. Do you mean can the IRS “approve” your return and then reject? If you mean can the reject after accepted – yes they can.
jamesHi. We have 4 children, 2 are from previous relations ships and neither father is in the picture, the children are ages 14 and 10. It is telling me that if I don’t have some kind of court order I have to file some kind of form to be able to claim the kids, IDK if that was something we had to do before since we always used JH in the past. I put i’m their step father but should I just put that we both are the legal guardians? Not sure what to do.
AnonymousI’ve not heard of an actual IRS acceptance, then rejection. Are you sure it wasn’t your tax software saying you were accepted, then getting a rejection? If so, that’s a glitch on their end.
I was rejected last year, because my daughter filed that no one could claim her when we actually could…she moved out on December 21, her 18th birthday, and when we filed, it said a dependent’s SSN had been used already. Found out she did that deliberately because she didn’t find it fair that we “made money off her”…God, self righteous kids…
Anyway, it was a straight rejection. Pending through preparer straight to reject.
Tell us a little more…what the steps were and who said what, maybe then we can help better.
Anonymousi filed and already been approved and have my DDD heres the screenshot from my phone
if that didnt work heres the link for proof http://postimg.org/image/s0zb6fy2p/
RtbartonieSo how long after you at accepted does it take for the IRS to approve your refund? Also how long are you in the woods? Is it until your refund has been approved or once you are accepted? Also tax slayer projected a higher number than TT and TA for federal refunds… Could this pose a problem?
It has to be at least 800-1000 more than my other software.
DionI filed on 1/9 and was accepted on 1/13.
Anyone…..Buellar….Buellar……lol
I really haven’t found an answer yet, not a straight one anyway. Can anyone out there please explain the process & reasoning behind being accepted or rejected?
Or if anyone has a personal experience with being accepted first & then rejected, please help shed some light here?
RtbartonieOkay I submitted on the 18th accepted this morning around 930/10.
January 20, 2015 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Finaly a statement from the irs about the "glitch" #4093041AnonymousLemme guess, another turd? I’m not even going to look at photos…I figure legit proof shares will show up on the facebook page.
January 20, 2015 at 3:06 pm in reply to: Finaly a statement from the irs about the "glitch" #4093040Sam, that is the second link to a literal piece of crap you have left this morning. It is getting annoying. Also, I was eating a Twix at the time, “was” being the operative word there.
Can’t you find something else to do down there in your mom’s basement? Maybe if you look hard enough, you’ll find a soccer ball. :-)
Now I will attempt to eat my other Twix half in peace.
AnonymousIt means the IRS accepted it, but the TT software just hasn’t updated to show it yet.
That happened to me, too.
I heard about a supposed turbo tax glitch, and went ahead and filed with Tax Act yesterday, being TT was pending from 1/15. I knew the worst that could happen was whichever one processed second, it would simply be rejected.
So, I got an email from Tax Act saying Federal was rejected because the Primary SSN had been used this year.
Logged onto TT, said “pending”.
Went to my IRS2Go app which has WMR built into it for the heck of it.
One orange bar, showing accepted.
An hour later, got the text from TT and the email saying it got accepted.
TT shows Feb. 20 for refund date (of course, that is 21 business days from now), but says 9 out of 10 people last year got theirs within 7-10 business days.
I remember it being pretty short, all things considered last year, but I’ve never had one within the week, it’s usually two for me…I always had seemed to file just after a cycle processed. LOL
Ok people, let’s get to it! Lol Wondering something: I am about to try and order a transcript, there is no way this could delay my refund or have any nefarious side effects is there?
PS I think I posted this in another spot when it should’ve been here. Sorry guys, first time in a group.
Those who want to keep up with other TaxSlayer filers can post here.
So far, I filed on 1/20 and got accepted on 1/20. WMR shows one bar.
JakeingaTT 152 doesn’t mean much really. As far as I know it is a more or less generic topic that gives basic information about the tax refund process. People get desperate about their refunds and start reading more into things than exist, and I think a lot of the talk about TT152 is part of that.
I have heard rumors both last year and already this year that if you see TT152 everything in your filing is good to go, and you are going to be given a DDD very soon. I have also read claims that if you have the TT152 your actual DD is in the next (or in this case first group of) Direct Deposits, but I honestly don’t believe any of that. If your refund has been accepted you can expect your refund within 20 days of it being accepted.
My experience with E-Filing (going back to the mid nineties) is that I have gotten Direct Deposits in as little as six days (happened two years in a row, 98 and 99), and as much as three weeks (last year was the longest I have had to wait, I filed on the January 15th, was accepted early on the 16th, but processing didn’t start until the 25th), I got my DD on 2/7. That was right at three weeks, and it nearly drove me nuts. I made the mistake of not paying attention to reality and let myself get convinced that I was going to get it much quicker, and honestly expected it around the 25th, even though I knew the IRS was behind because of the government shutdown.
This year I am also hoping I will get it quick, a week turn around would be great, but so would two weeks, and if I have to wait until 2/6, I will survive. My big lesson from last year is to not count on it coming before the IRS says to expect it, I did that last year, and found myself in a jam waiting on money for a week and a half that I had counted on getting earlier.
CaligirlI filed with taxact on 19th at about 8pm and was accepted by IRS today at about 9am. I have 1 bar on the refund status check bar.
Kristi HGood deal, thanks! I just couldn’t really invest too much time to information last year because of what my daughter was putting us through. Thank you for the clarification!
Kristi, Tax Topic 152 means absolutely nothing. It is basically telling you that once your refund amount is “approved” you will have your DD within 21 days. Having TT 152 doesn’t mean that your amount is approved, it doesn’t mean that your DDD will show up tomorrow. Everyone whose return was “accepted” has TT 152. TT 152 showing up today just says that the IRS received your return and it is being processed. Once your refund amount is “approved” 2nd orange bar, then your DDD will be forthcoming. People read too much into TT152 but no one actually reads it. The amount of your refund while in 1st bar showing “accepted” could still change. Once accepted, it has to be actually reviewed and could up until “approved” be sent back for corrections. Please do not get all excited at this point. Get excited once “approved” shows up.
jakeingaFiled late on the 18th, got acceptance notice from tt an hour ago. Now I try to remember to be patient
RtbartonieCode 152 is great it just goes over your options for getting your refund!!!
Bruce JaraczewskiI filed with TurboTax January 13 today is the 20th still says pending greeter!!
MelodyFiled yesterday (01/19) with TT. Got an email and text about 20 minutes ago that Federal was accepted (Idaho won’t be open until the 23rd). Checked WMR and one orange bar with amount and code 152. :)
AnonymousI put this question in another thread earlier, no responses inside that person’s thread, but I just need help remembering.
Is it just me, or last year, when Tax Topic 152 popped up, wasn’t that generally a good sign, and usually the next WMR date showed up with a DDD, or am I confused?
I can’t remember how it went last year, and want to provide the answer for others to the best of my knowledge, and I just can’t remember how it went down last year, because my daughter moved out at the end of the tax year, and then claimed that no one could claim her when we legally could (she had just turned 18 December 21st), and screwed us out of $2,000 in credits, and we needed it SO badly last year…so I wasn’t fully concentrating on info like I normally am.
Please let me know if I’m right or not. On a side note, my taxes got accepted today after pending since 1/15, but I have TT152 on mine already. That’s crazy. LOL
Thanks!
MsTJust filed my with Efiled and has been accepted. Hope things go smoothly this year. Last year was a mess.
Filed with TT on the 14th, at 9pm, roughly, federal accepted the 16th, state (GA) accepted this morning. WMR says accepted, one orange bar, with amount to the left and Topic 152.
AnonymousI got accepted !!!!!!! Turbo tax gives me a date from 2m to feb 10!!!!!!!! Goodluck yall!
MelodyI was just accepted for Federal taxes filing with a 1040c for my small sole proprietorship business. This is my first year. Checked WMR and I have one orange bar for acceptance! So nervous waiting for it to advance and hoping I don’t get pulled for audit being my first year. Anyone with experience in this and how long it usually takes for them to decide to pull for an audit? Thanks.
jarkrtFiled with TaxSlayer on the 20th at 12:05 am. Return accepted on the 20th.
Has anyone here ever been.accepted by the IRS, then rejected? Why does this happen?
Every year I am so antsy in the waiting period from acceptance to approval, so I am curious as to what the acceptance to approval/rejection process entails.
If anyone out there knows about the process and reasons for rejection, or has experienced it first hand, please share with us! :-)
MCRT88I filed with TT Deluxe on 1/9, got federal accepted 1/12, state accepted 1/13, and WMR has 1 bar, refund amount and “Tax Topic 152″.
However, I had the 8960 form in my return and I was concerned last night because I saw that the “fix” was to enter all zero’s or delete the form (I entered 1.0000 on line 4 and 0 on the other line). I called TT Support last night and asked if this would effect my return in anyway, if I would have to re-file or if my refund would be delayed.. She ran through the regular spew and then stopped, actually talked to me like a person, was extremely nice, pulled up a bunch of info on it and then asked me for my SSN and said that they can see what has been processed so far by the IRS. She told me that my return was ACCEPTED all the way across the board, that there were no issues and that the only thing left for the IRS to do is issue a DDD. That they will not start issuing DDD’s until at least 1/20 and that I should see a DDD within 24-72 hours after “Tax Season” officially opens. So fingers crossed that I wake up to a DDD tomorrow or the next day!! Based off of last years Early filers and DDD, it could be as early as next week! I will be hoping, if not, the earliest I have seen is the 5th and that isn’t far!January 20, 2015 at 1:41 pm in reply to: Are the 21 days actual calendar days or business days? #4093018KathyIf you go by the various”refund schedules” posted, it’s straight days.
DaniI filed on the Sunday the 18th and received my acceptance text this morning. WMR has one bar. Last year I filed super early, didn’t get into test batch but received my refund on the 12 of Feb.
AnonymousI filed this morning at 11:38 with Turbo Tax. I received a text at 12:52 saying it was accepted. It shocked me. I’ve never had it happen so fast.

Filed with TT on 1/16, received text from TT this morning that my return was accepted by IRS. Went to WMR and it shows received with 1 orange bar. Earlier this morning (around 6am est) it showed nothing was available on WMR. No issues whatsoever filing through TT. Have always used them, have never had a problem. On another note, people who are just anxious and filing 2 or more returns, you may end up getting flagged as multiple filings and placed into the Fraud department. A coworker of mine had that situation a few years ago and it took her over a year to receive her refund…..just be patient. If you were expecting an accepted today and it takes an additional day or two, just wait it out, better that than having to fill out all sorts of forms for the IRS and snail mailing them, causing you to wait even longer. I thought I was going to be in that “glitch” and I wasn’t. I filed 1040A, EIC 3 dependents, no issues, return accepted this morning, the day that IRS officially opened.
AnonymousI was accepted by the IRS on the 12th. I was showing 1 bar through WMR. Now it states for the last 3 days no bars and your return is still being processed with no amount. Not to sure what to expect.
resFiled mine on 1/14 accepted on 1/15….wmr has one bar
AJFiled last night (10:05 p.m.) with TT. I signed up for email and text alerts but did not receive either. Federal return was accepted this morning, state (MI) is pending. One bar on WMR.
DanJust got the official “Accepted” email from Turbotax!
@Sam, while tax preparers certainly do just that, if wmr says you are accepted, you are accepted. The IRS accepted my return on the 16th, I filed with TT the 14th. So, whether simply as a test or not, the IRS has officially accepted several returns before the 20th.
As far as time frames, if the first date last year was the 6th, and they opened the 30th, wouldn’t that mean this year the earliest DDD would be the 27th?
DanUpdate: Just got the official “Accepted” email from TT!! YAY!
ChristyFiled TT 1/19.. no email from TT but went to WMR and it has been accepted! :)
AnonymousFiled 1/17
sent to IRS 12:55 pm 1/20
waiting….AnonymousNo I meant 5 days for it to be accepted last year not for a refund, I wish! It was 2 weeks to the day last year from acceptance for my refund
DanExact same situation here. It looks like we’ve been accepted but TT is slow and hasn’t changed us from Pending to Accepted yet. I’m choosing to believe the IRS over TT.
AngeliqueIt means that your return was accepted. I would sign on to TT and see if it has been updated.
BeccaI don’t think anyone has got a DDD yet I think mostly everyone is still in the received & processing stages. Would be nice though to see the changes happen quickly! Is it true or just a rumor that some people may get them on the 27th? I’ve seen a few threads where they are saying things like that, it’s probably just trying to get people all excited
RtbartonieWow!!!! 5 days that’s awesome I hope my refund is that quick this year!!
AnonymousSO i filed on the 18th of this month , TT has not emailed me anything but i went to where is my refund and its on the first bar. What does that mean?
RtbartonieSorry, I have never asked this before. I always wondered was it actually 21 business days or 21 calendar days from the acceptance date?
I was in the test batches for 2012 and 2013 .. And the 1121 coders… And the refund canceled group offer year.
I guess I’m asking what to expect if everything is going smoothly thus far. Thanks so much!
Anonymousno DDD yet. Pretty positive it will be overnight or tomorrow!!!
jenHas anyone got a ddd
TotsaGot Accepted 1/13 TT. What about Approved? Anyone?
PrissyFiled with taxact, on 1-16-2015, accepted by IRS today, this morning. 1 bar at WMR site.
waitinonmymoneyWoo hoo! Filed 1/17 with tax act… accepted this am 1 bar on wmmfr!
DanJust checked WMR for giggles and guess what? We’re in there with one bar and processing! That means we’ve been accepted, right? Even though TT is still showing pending?
AnonymousFiled today at 735am and already accepted by IRS! Last year took 5 days
AOhioGIrlI filed with TurboTax about 2AM 1/20/15 as of right now still shows pending in TurboTax. However, WMR shows it as received and processing with amount so I am thinking TurboTax is having delays in updating to accepted?!?!
ABallI was accepted by IRS on the 13th. Anyway, if it is like last year when I was accepted early we got our refund in the 1st DD on 2/6. If it goes like last year I am looking for a 1/27 DDD. Good luck all!
I filed 1/13. No update/email/text from Turbo Tax.But am able to log onto WM and see it was received and Processing. 1 bar with TT 152.
amandaI was part of the test patch in 2013 and 2012. They just transmit several test batches to the irs to test their system. They don’t actually process or approve any returns. Last year I got accepted very early, I got my refund on the 6th of feb, same time as everyone else that got accepted the first day. After the issues years ago, with them now saying wait 21 days… i don’t expect or count on anything, this way I’m not dissapointed. This is the first year I didn’t get accepted early, but I did get accepted today.i have used tax act since 2007 and i have not had any problems so far.
DanAll of these acceptance emails are getting my hopes up! Filed 1/18, so hopefully I’ll get mine soon and not be glitched!
ciballI had a daughter that passed at one month, the man at HR Block told me I could claim her for the entire year….she had a social security number though. Sorry for your loss, I know what you are going through.
Corey B.E-filed with TT on 1/16/15. Just received my acceptance email and text around 11:30am EST on 1/20/15! It’s been a crazy few tax years. Had to catch up on some missed years and payoff some offsets. This year– free and clear! Im a single dad and really need a break– planning a cruise! Need my DDD ASAP!!
BusterFiled on 17th with Turbo Tax (No EIC or Glitch), went from pending to accepted about 15 minutes ago. IRS is showing received (one bar) and Turbo Tax is giving refund window of 21st to Feb 10th. Good Luck to all other Turbo Tax filers.
amandaThe irs ALWAYS transmits several tests batches before the acceptance date. It does NOT process them though. In the last 2 years, I was always part of the test batch. Not this year, I still did mine on the 15th, but didn’t get accepted until today. Just because it accepted your return early, you WILL NOT get a refund sooner. You will get it at the same time as everyone else. The irs accepts returns, but they need to be processed and approved by the date on the cycle chart, in order to get your refund on the date listed.
