Definitely NOT true.
This morning I jumped from generic message (no steps) to step 4 of 4. My DorWay balance also went to zero so I know it was sent despite the DOR telling m
The DOR i formed me today that they are not yet issuing refunds. The date she gave was the 7th – not sure if that meant FOR the 7th (which means some could see by the 4th or 5th) or not starting UNTIL the 7th.
I had seen someone else post the same thing in the past few days either here or the live chat. I did not inquire about a date, she provided it when I was making sure something else had been completed properly and successfully.
Their WMR site says 6-8 weeks from acceptance or February 7, whichever date is later. So I guess we won’t see deposits til after the 7th…
Several have already received.
I thought for sure since the rep said it approved Wednesday, I’d have it today. But still no payment. I just wanna be a thousandairre.
Have you checked MyDorway? When the amount goes back to zero it has been sent to your bank.
SC is on it this year. Filed 1/21/22 they accepted apparently the same day and I called today because I knew I had an offset and she said the remainder of my refund was released yesterday 😳
Congratulations! Do you show any of the steps?
Our SC return was accepted same day but shows no “steps”. MyDorway does show the refund amount.I jumped to step four this morning.
Mine still shows no steps. Dorway shows refund.
I still see my credit for state, but the refund status does not show any steps (on phone – is it different on computer?).
It would be nice to have one for off topic conversation, where those who desired could get to know each other more or get advice/answer questions aside from taxes.
My guess is that the person does NOT have the credits held up by PATH.
The CTC will not delay your refund. the ACTC and/or EIC will.
Do you have a form 8812 in your return? If yes, you have the ACTC. If not, you do not.
Yes, it is possible.
It is possible. Some of them may be trolling but some are probably legit.
If you claimed Earned Income Tax Credits or Additional Child Tax Credits (not to be confused with the Child Tax Credit), then your refund will be held until February 15th.
If you did not claim those credits, then it is very likely you will get it sooner – people are already reporting refunds set to be deposited tomorrow (myself included) and I expect more to be deposited on February 1 and February 3.
That should not have anything to do with your refund. Most of the time, the IRS does not match the W2’s they receive from the employers to the information submitted by the filer until much later in the year anyway. In that regard, it is very much an honor system. Unless you have been flagged for submitting things wrong before, they would proceed as if it were correct.
I filed on the 14th, accepted on the 17th. On the 25th I got two bars and a deposit date for the 27th.
January 26, 2017 at 4:46 pm in reply to: no bars, paragraph saying to check my status after 15 #4153196It seems that if you claimed the Earned Income and/or Additional Child Tax Credits that the message you are describing is what filers are getting when their return has finished processing, but the refund can not be released yet due to the PATH law that is making refunds on returns claiming those credits be held until mid-February.
I use H&R Block to file online, but I always just pay the fee directly. Doing so means that my refund goes straight from the IRS to my bank account.
It seems that when you have the fees withheld, the IRS sends the entire refund first to the preparer, who then takes their fees and then passes it on to your bank account. I have seen some say that it is a smooth process and does not delay their refund, I have seen others say it has taken extra time for them to receive it.
They also charge you a fee for this service, so you are paying extra (not just the fee you would pay if you paid it ahead of time, but that and then another fee).
January 26, 2017 at 4:42 pm in reply to: where can I find the date I will receive my refund on my transcrips #4153193The April date is standard on all transcripts. The February date is likely when your WMR will update and your funds will be released, to be in your bank by the 15th.
Unfortunately, if you claimed Earned Income and/or Additional Child Tax Credits, a new law means that ALL refunds claiming them will be held until February 15th.
I just wanted to point out that there are two people posting under the name “Me”…myself (registered user) and someone else.
The other “Me” has not done anything wrong, I just wanted to point it out because I noticed it and it could get confusing…

There are two “Me”s posting, myself (registered with that name) and another. I just wanted to point that out.
Although you filed and was accepted (that really just means received, without gross errors – i.e., names, dates of birth and social security numbers match – the IRS did not open until 01/23. Nothing happened prior to that as far as processing.
I would not worry. I would presume that you will likely be included in the next update – probably Friday night/Saturday morning, and if not probably next Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. But I would not worry as of yet.
When your return is initially received by the IRS, that bar can show up throughout the day. However, other updates occur overnight from Tuesday night/Wednesday morning or Friday night/Saturday morning … at least that is how it has gone in years past.
I can tell you that if you check too often, you will lock yourself out of WMR on the IRS site and it will say no info available and you will not see anything until the next day. But, it does NOT update once you have that first bar throughout the day so there is no use in checking it more than once a day anyway.
@ Kyle, people really did get two bars today. I am sorry that you are not one of them.
In years past, I have noticed that WMR updates on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning for a deposit date of Friday and on Friday night/Saturday morning with a deposit date for Wednesday. Hopefully you will be in the next group of approvals.
Two people could file at the exact same time with the exact same basic details and still have different results for their returns – one may be flagged for an error, one could be randomly selected for review, etc. There are a number of reasons that people could get an update before you do.
While they no longer publish a schedule, the IRS used to have one that would say if your return was accepted between X date and Y date, you should get your refund on… I am sure that even though it is no longer published, it is the same if there are no errors. So someone accepted one day could be in this first batch, but the next day have to wait for the next batch.
There is also something about weeklies or dailies which I have no idea really what all of that is about, other than you are in two groups. I think one can pretty much post instantly but the other must be held a bit longer.
I got my second bar this morning (January 25th) with a deposit date for Friday (January 27th).
However, since there was some speculation and name calling (troll/liar) on the live forum, know that while I had the child tax credit for our children, we did not have the credits that are causing delays which are the earned income and additional child tax credits.
You can click on the “home” icon and scroll down and there is another chat feed outside of this thread where more people are posting, that could be another place to ask.
I am guessing those that were accepted early will be among the first to get that second bar, from my experience it will likely be Wednesday with a Friday or Saturday direct deposit date…but, whether it is this week or next is the question.
Being accepted early does not mean you will get your refund any earlier. It simply is a process by which they test their systems before they are overwhelmed, to try to work out kinks.
If you have EIC or ACTC, you will probably not get your refund released prior to February 15th just because you were accepted early.
I filed with H&R Block on the 14th and was accepted on the 17th.
I have not checked my status on the H&R Block website, only on the IRS website and via the emails H&R Block sent.
Being accepted just means that the IRS has received your return and that it did not include any gross errors (names, birthdates and social security numbers matched).
If you lose bars and get the generic message, I usually find that the next update is one that includes a direct deposit date. This has happened to me EVERY SINGLE YEAR and I do not think it is indicative of a problem at all.
If you get a message saying No Info Available, it is often because you have checked too often in that day and you have been locked out. Check back the next day. Other than initial acceptance, which can come at any time of the day, updates are only done once per day, usually overnight, and so checking more than once a day is unnecessary.
That has happened to me EVERY YEAR. It will return, and then you will get a refund date. Nothing to be concerned about.
By now you probably got an email from H&R Block. I, too, filed with them and got an email about the EITC or ACTC (neither of which pertain to us). Later, I got an email update saying there had been an error.
I filed the 14th and was accepted on the 17th as well. However, being accepted just means that the IRS has received it.
January 20, 2017 at 11:24 pm in reply to: Anyone not claiming eitc or actc…have you filed??? #4151509Me! I filed the 14th, accepted the 17th.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss!
If your child was stillborn, you can not claim him/her as a dependent. Had s/he lived, even for a short time, you could have. But unfortunately, that is not the case if the child was stillborn.
You can choose to itemize and deduct eligible expenses (such as medical). However, most people do not have enough deductions when itemizing to be worth more than the standard deductions, thus it likely will not be beneficial for you to itemize but definitely consult someone for educated input.
I filed using H&R Block online on the night of January 29. I was accepted mid-morning on the 30th. Still processing.
