Nevermind, I see.you were logged in to post this message. Please send an email to admin (at bottom of page) I just need to ask you a couple questions. I’m so sorry for this silly block….
Hi Are. just pray. I’m so JUST KIDDING. sorry that you were unable to post. We had to put a lot of speed bumps in place to deal with my “stalker” and looks like you were affected. Can you send me an email from your registered email address so that I can verify this is you and get you whitelisted. Thanks :)
AnonymousI am not getting a “You cannot post from your location” message on here. I am in London, still am. I also am not the person who was spamming the boards or whatever happened last night. Can we fix this please?
Anonymous1. Double Check Direct Deposit Routing Number, number for number
2. Double Check Direct Deposit Account Number, number for number
3. Verify that you checked the right type of account (checking/savings) on your tax software (If you had it DD in a savings account, make sure you or your accountant didn’t check “checkings.”)
4. Call your bank to see if deposit was rejected for any reason (Wrong account number, name not matching, if it is a small down home bank you will find out this reason within 10 minutes, big banks are harder.)
5. If bank has no idea, wait until the day specified on Where’s My Refund (Where’s My Refund (WMR)) to call the IRS, they will mail you out a check pretty quickly. I know people that have gotten their checks within 2 weeks of failed direct deposit dates… Shortest was about 1.5 weeks.Always wait a full five days after your failed HDD date to call the IRS (so you won’t waste 30 or more minutes of your life on hold just to hear “We can’t give you information until….” If you filed on April 25, don’t call till the 30th.
Failed direct deposits can happen for a multitude of reasons, the most common being entering wrong routing and account numbers, or putting them in the wrong places on the tax return (switching the numbers). One of my banks, a credit union, denied multiple deposits because many banks are adopting the policy of not accepting returns that have a different name than the bank account. Every return that is supposed to be direct deposited has a specific set of ACH deposit instructions that go from the IRS to the bank about a day before your return is supposed to be deposited. If your bank sees another name on their that does not completely match the name on the account, they may deny it. They also may deny it for having incorrect account numbers. The worst thing is that if you entered in the wrong account number and it was connected to another bank account at that bank, then it will be put in that account with no question (this is for banks that have not adopted the name matching policy yet). People who this has happened to have reported NEVER receving their tax returns. Of course, the IRS is not responsible for a lost return due to incorrect account numbers! Unless it of course comes back to them as rejected, in that case you will get a check in the mail within 2-6 weeks to the address listed on your tax return..

IrfanThis is why people are told to wait for their W-2 s. The dernifefce is probably a deduction for something you have taken out pre-tax like health care or retirement.Did you file it yourself, or with somebody like H&R Block? If you filed through someone else, call them and ask if it was transmitted yet they’re not legally allowed to send it to the IRS without having the W-2.If you filed it yourself, then you know it’s already sent. In that case, you’ll have to file an amended return, 1040X. You can download the form and instructions at irs.gov. It’s not real complex, but must be filed on paper, not efiled. For your state, do it with the correct numbers from your W-2. You might end up with a letter from them too if they do their computer match with the feds before your federal return is corrected. You’re not in trouble with the IRS, but you’ve caused yourself some unnecessary aggravation.Good luck.
MadelynWow. Really?Paypal is already so suoipcisus in my mind. I have a paypal account for my business and one for personal use. For the business, I don’t mind giving a tax id, but for the personal account I really don’t think I should need to supply my social security number unless I pass a certain threshold.
InnocentI wouldn’t be too crceeonnd about the message but, in will in fact delay the receipt of your refund for a bit. My friend got the same message and they requested proof of a dependant living with him and him having legal custody but, this was triggered because he was claimed on someone else’s return as well. All it is, is there is some discrepancy in information that you entered on your return to what the IRS has in their system and basically want you to send the additional information proving what ever it may be If you call the IRS they will be able to give you more information on the problem and should be able to tell you what the notice is requesting (800) 829-1040 Was this answer helpful?
PeniataIt’s good to see someone thinking it thurogh.
DavidIn 2005, the IRS tightened the rules for head of uohsehold.Previously, you could claim HOH if your adult child lived with you no matter how much money they made. Now, you must also be able to claim that child as a dependent and that meant their income has to be less than $3500.Previously (for 1 or 2 years *only*), you could even claim HOH if you had a child that you treated as your own living with you all year. Now, that child had to be a qualifying child related to you by blood or marriage. The child of a roommate, girlfriend or cousin does not qualify. While most preparers noticed and followed the rule changes, some didn’t. While most preparers quizzed their clients to ensure they actually met the rules, some simply heard I-did-it-last-year and did it again. As for HRB, did you have the extra cost insurance that said HRB would actually pay for the mistakes, including tax, or just the regular professional courtesy that they would try to assist with an amended return and consider paying the penalties?Ultimately, the tax return is your paperwork. Ultimately, the information on the return and tax bill are yours. If you owe higher taxes, then it’s yours to pay.
Karenthe Tax advocate is yes a free IRS rcsviee however, it is not for resolving your tax debtthe office is available to help you resolve tax issues you have not been able to resolve with the normal IRS channelsit is a small office, not a big work force and very busyif you have a $16000 tax debt, you only options are to pay it, get an installment agreement or try the Offer in Compromise which you can do yourselfthe latter is not often accepted and not a hugely successful option
Hmmmmpaying fines, getting license, computer fixed, hd camera (to start a vlog), bariatric clinic, getting in shape, establish credit, and MOVE! ITS A LOT I NEED/WANT THIS MONEY FOR…sad praying for this best!!!
VeronicaIf you REALLY want to be “smart” about it, don’t have so much tax withheld from your pay in the first place! A “decent” reunfd in my book is $0. Heck, I’d rather PAY when I file. That way the government is lending ME money, not the other way around that’s all that YOU are doing and you’re getting nothing in return for it either. If you went to Wally World and bought some stuff for $15 and gave the cashier a $20 and she told you that you’d have to wait until next April for your change, you’d go postal, right? Hell yes you would! Why then is it such a great deal when the GOVERNMENT does the same thing to you? Dumber yet, you AGREE in advance to let them do it to you. You ASK them to do it to you!If you get more than pocket change for a reunfd then you’re doing yourself a disservice. If you had the proper amount of tax withheld in the first place, you’d be current on your credit cards or be ahead on them even. The interest you would have saved could have EASILY been as much as HALF of whatever reunfd you are looking at given the credit card rates often charged to college students! If you’re carrying any credit card debt, pay that off FIRST. That’s a rate of return of between 35% and 75% right there. You want smart? You just got it!
jeffI filed on the March 15, give or take was excepted 2 days later and had a should be dd date of march 30. Now its telling me because of processing delays April 24th. Am I gonna get my return?

Another branch of the IRS may have intercepted your refund for further review. When this happens, IRS Customer Service may tell you that the refund has been sent out when in fact it never reached your account. This is part of the IRS Revenue Protection Strategy and it insures that questionable information on a tax return is addressed before paying out the refund. If this happened in your case, you will get a letter from the IRS within the next few weeks to explain why your refund was withheld. They may need more information from you in order to complete the review and disburse your refund.AnonymousMrsRivera52 says:

Lmao well I just got off the phone with the IRS rep and this is my story: Filed 3/23 accepted within minutes still no money so I called this past Monday and the IRS rep said that they have already deducted my husbands debt from 2008 and my refund had been completed and to expect the return before April 23 however my family needs to get up to new jersey due to a family member in the hospital so I called again and spoke to rep number:1000730245 and told him our situation the put me on hold for 5 min and came back and told me the money has been frozen of course I asked why and he said to see if there are any other outstanding debts I told him there were none, he then told me I wouldn’t even receive it for 2-3 weeks from April 16th…. I’m livid at this point and asked why the previous rep told me the other information he said she shouldn’t have….. Well at this point this is a bunch of bull and I don’t believe anything they are saying…. That would out us at damn near 2 months for an e file smh!!!

I just got off the phone with a rep from the IRS. He was very helpful. He told me to call back and ask for a referral letter. This letter is sent to the person that is actually processing your return. The person that is processing your return has 30 days to reply to you directly as to what is going on with your return. I hope this helps.AnonymousMy family and I are taking a trip to New Jersey, my husbands father recently had a stroke. Anonymousam self employed )operating without a business license) and I allow 2 of my friends to live in my house with 1 child each. they have lived with me all year and niether parent is filing taxes this year. I don’t charge either of them any money for rent, utilities or food etc. as they are both very close friends of mine. Now with that said, since the 2 children are under my roof I claimed them for the earned income credit. I have just received a letter from the irs requesting information to be submitted before I will receive my refund.
information requested are as follows:
1. EARNED INCOME CREDIT – FORM 886-H-EIC
2. DEPENDENTS – FORM 886-H-DEP
3. FILING STATUS – FORM 886-H-HOH
4. SCHEDULE C – FORM 11652My question is… is this standard operating procedure for the irs review process? Do they normally ask for all this information to be submitted?
I don’t even know where to start. I have receipts for payments from the entire year proving my income totalling just over 13K. the parents of the children will cooperate and write any letter I need. the problem is that I support these children by providing a roof for them, but I don’t have guardian rights nor do I want them. I am just helping out my friends.
with the information I have provided do I need to be worried I will get in trouble for claiming my income which is, up til now, totally unreported and under the table in prior years.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

screwedContact number for turbotax and intuit’s refund cashing dept is called tax products group 1-877-908-7228. An agent at turbotax gave me this number to track and verify funds and when they will be in.
Second contact is for IRS – FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SERVICES 1-800-304-3107
This number was given to me by the tax produvcts group because the IRS short changed my refund almost $900.00 in error.we used to see mass updates on Wednesday and Sunday nights, but other updates still occurred on other days of the week except Sunday. the last 2 weeks though haven’t shown mass updates though. keep checking.
AnonymousWhen does wmr actually update or does it update daily?
Good point…we haven’t had a chance to add those, thanks for asking.
Ghost is what people have come up with when describing that the WMR cannot find information about their return.
One liner was coined referring to the message “your return has been received and is being processed.”
AnonymousWhat’s a ghost mean? Does this mean WMR is not working?
What’s a ‘one liner?’
AmandaL@tryingtobepatient, You know I did file a college credit. I’m not sure if that’s what the hold up is. I just wish that we could get it, The one letter I first got (which a rep told me to pay attention to that letter) My 60th day of waiting regarding that letter would be April 14th, On my transcripts it says my money will be realized on April 15th. I’m not sure if those two dates play a roll in it. Who knows. We’ll see.

@All, I just reviewed all the recent comments here. (You will be able to search soon too). There have been “I GOT MY REFUND!!” reports on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. This confirms the information I personally was told by a Bank of America rep: “The IRS sends deposit notices on M-F and the deposit will post and become available according to the respective bank or prepaid card posting policies.
The only bank I have heard of posting on a Saturday has been Wells Fargo; this was confirmed by one of our former moderators and detailed information regarding Wells Fargo posting schedule has been provided in the Forum.
Also, their have been a few reports of Walmart’s Greendot prepaid product posting on a Saturday. BOA also told me that deposits are never posted on Saturdays or Sundays for their customers.
If anyone has experience otherwise, please let us know and post it in the forum for other who are searching. For those that have heard only Wednesday and Friday, this I believe, was the IRS’s former policy we have each experienced in past years. According to a report I read on irs.gov summarizing the readiness for implementing the new system, this was a feature that would improve processing times this year.
I believe this info dictactes that is safe to say that you can receive a deposit on any day of the week except Sunday.

neverendingwaitAccepted 3/6. I have had two dates 3/20, 3/27. Around the 16th it switched to the one liner. Haven’t bothered to call the IRS, not willing to wait on hold for hours to find out nothing.
dazedandconfusedI got the one-liner. From the person I talked to, the WMR site is invalid for people who have their returns held for review. BTW, I got the college credit, and this is my first time filing single, as I was previously married so I filed joint everytime. I think that’s why I got flagged. Damn you, IRS!
F/A-Jan23rdI have the one liner now for the second time. Filed on 1/23 had the “should receive by 2/7 that came and went and it changed to the one liner for almost a month then changed to “should receive by April 3rd” a week later it changed to “should receive by March 27th” March 28th it changed back to the one liner and is still there. I know my return is in the errors department, has been since 1/26, but I’ve been told they were able to fix it themselves…if that’s the case then why the hell is it still in the errors department..I have no idea what the error is.
AnonymousAmanda…did you take the college credit? I also had 2 dates and now a 1 liner. Filed mine in Jan.
AmandaLI want to see how many of us are actually out there with the scary “One Liner”. The one liner is when your Where’s My Refund states “Your tax return has been received and is being processed”, Now I personally have only gotten 2 dates since I’ve filed and I’ve been stuck on this one for the past 2 weeeks or so. I had a date of 02/07 for the LONGEST time, then finally it updated, to this one liner, then it updated to 03/20. And now I’m back here.
What has everyone elses experience been? Has anyone called and asked what it actually means?
AnonymousBecause of my particular circumstances, it was advantageous a few years ago for me to examine my withholdings from each paycheck. After tax deductions and credits each year, I typically have a very low tax liability that results in a sizable refund. By adjusting my W-4 on file with employer to better reflect what I expect to file at the end of year, I was able to reduce the federal taxes withheld from each paycheck (more $ throughout the year) and still receive my sizable refund at the end of year. This made a huge difference or me! Look into this and see if it’s appropriate for you situation, but just keep in mind if your income bracket or tax deductions changes throughout the year for whatever reason, you need to reexamine things so that you don’t end up owing. budget budget pla plan plan…. ;). Than you big sister (she worked in my payroll office) for teaching me this 10 years ago!

Employees who would like to change their withholding to reduce their tax refund or their balance due;
Employees whose situations are only approximated by the worksheets on the paper W-4 (e.g., anyone with concurrent jobs, or couples in which both are employed; those entitled to file as Head of Household; and those with several children eligible for the Child Tax Credit);

If you qualify for our help, we’ll do everything we can to get your problem resolved. You will be assigned to one advocate who will be with you at every turn. We have offices in every state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Although TAS is independent within the IRS, our advocates know how to work with the IRS to get your problems resolved. And our services are always free.Qualifying taxpayers will receive personalized service from a knowledgeable taxpayer advocate who will:
Listen to their problems,
Help them understand what needs to be done to resolve the problems, and
Stay with them every step of the way until the problems are resolved.
How to Reach a Taxpayer Advocate
You can find the address and phone number for your local Taxpayer Advocate Service office on our website at http://www.irs.gov/advocate. You can also:Call our toll-free line at 1-877-777-4778.
Ask an IRS employee (in person or over the phone) to complete the form on your behalf.
Form 911, Request for Taxpayer Advocate Service Assistance (And Application for Taxpayer Assistance Order), is available by phone at 1-800-829-3676, or on http://www.irs.gov.
Taxpayer Advocate Service Refocuses Workload
TAS is temporarily limiting its acceptance of cases when the taxpayer’s problem solely involves an IRS delay in processing certain tax documents, beginning October 1. If the taxpayer is not currently facing an imminent threat of enforcement action or otherwise experiencing situations that meet the definition of an economic burden, TAS will refer the taxpayer to the appropriate IRS function specializing in return processing issues, rather than accepting the problem as a TAS case. TAS will prioritize cases to ensure effective service to taxpayers who most need TAS’s assistance or whom TAS is best suited to assist.
AnonymousInjured or Innocent Spouse Tax Relief
IRS Tax Tip 2012-60, March 28, 2012You may be an injured spouse if you file a joint tax return and all or part of your portion of a refund was, or is expected to be, applied to your spouse’s legally enforceable past due financial obligations.
Here are seven facts about claiming injured spouse relief:
1. To be considered an injured spouse; you must have paid federal income tax or claimed a refundable tax credit, such as the Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit on the joint return, and not be legally obligated to pay the past-due debt.
2. Special rules apply in community property states. For more information about the factors used to determine whether you are subject to community property laws, see IRS Publication 555, Community Property.
3. If you filed a joint return and you’re not responsible for the debt, but you are entitled to a portion of the refund, you may request your portion of the refund by filing Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation.
4. You may file form 8379 along with your original tax return or your may file it by itself after you receive an IRS notice about the offset.
5. You can file Form 8379 electronically. If you file a paper tax return you can include Form 8379 with your return, write “INJURED SPOUSE” at the top left of the Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ. IRS will process your allocation request before an offset occurs.
6. If you are filing Form 8379 by itself, it must show both spouses’ Social Security numbers in the same order as they appeared on your income tax return. You, the “injured” spouse, must sign the form.
7. Do not use Form 8379 if you are claiming innocent spouse relief. Instead, file Form 8857, Request for Innocent Spouse Relief. This relief from a joint liability applies only in certain limited circumstances. However, in 2011 the IRS eliminated the two-year time limit that applies to certain relief requests. IRS Publication 971, Innocent Spouse Relief, explains who may qualify, and how to request this relief.

WMRsucksWhat exactly is the 6 week message?
CathyFiled on 3/16. Accepted on 3/17 with a dd of 4/10. DD of 4/10 changed to 4/3 with now explanation. That seemed like good news? Then checked WMR again and got the “6 week message” with no explanation. After much reading I am still confused. Some say it means the money is released and on its way. Others say it means the return has been “pulled” for review or that there is some other sort of trouble.
Does anyone know the truth? Or have a similar story? Misery loves company! Would love to hear similar stories and their outcomes. And most importantly what opinions are based on regarding the 6 week message.
Thanks and good luck to all!AnonymousEadoin2 said:

From what I have researched it says the code means someone tried to login using the secondary taxpayers SS #. This can not be correct as I filed HOH only claiming my 2 small children. There is no secondary tax payer.

Anyone else use WoodForest bank? When I opened my account a few months ago I was told that they do not hold direct deposited checks. I specifically asked about my tax return and they said as long as its direct deposited it will not be held, as soon as it is sent to the bank they release it to the customer. However, I have noticed a guideline on transactions stating that if they are done before 8 pm they are posted to the account but after 8pm they get posted the next day. Not sure if this info will help anyone but I figured I’d pass it along. If anyone has any other information about this bank please post. Thanks!Jorrie said:

You can call and ask an agent to pull up your “account” and go over it with them. I know because I did this last week and got specifics. Also, I believe that if you have a taxes owed offset you would have received a letter/bill in the mail. I have. That is why I originally called the IRS. I wanted to find out what was going on. I was also informed that I would be receiving a certified letter about my TAX DEBT, which I did.carolyn said:

If there is in fact a pattern at all it seems highly unlikely that it’s based solely on acceptance date alone. Filed on the 9th, accepted on the 18th and still in processing with a 2/7, married filing joint, three children, Pennsylvania, w-2 in hand, H&R Block, no offset, return filed same as always and never any problems. Post your details people and let’s see if there is some sort of pattern.Corizon said:

A pattern to what? IRS had trouble with their system on everyone that filed between the 17 and 19th i believe. Think they lost everything and had to start over which is why the wmr says still processing and why they are late. Some people have gotten their refunds, but i think that is only about 30 percent or so. The rest of us are still waiting and waiting and waiting…..cybernimf said:

These issues and delays are issues are related directly to a new fraud detection and prevention filtration system holding more refunds than anticipated and more returns are being impacted then originally projected by IRS.
The IRS has worked to correct this error and so they now believe refund timing ,for all refunds, including ARs will be on the following schedule:
* Select returns were impacted on the very first day of processing on 1/17/2012.
* Refunds from that first day which were expected on 1/23/2012 may not have funded yet.
*Updated information indicates affected returns filed on:
* 1/17/2012 are expected to fund on 1/30/2012.
* 1/18/2012 are anticipated to fund on 1/30/2012.
* 1/19/2012 are anticipated to fund on 2/1/2012.
* 1/20/2012 are anticipated to fund on 1/2/2012.
* 1?21/2012 are anticipated to fund on 1/3/2012.shon123 said:

This is also the first time I ever had an issue since efile started. The pattern before was always something like it would show by a Tuesday, then change to DD on the Friday before, and the money would show up Thursday night.Filed 1/22/12. Accepted 1/22/12, TaxAct Basic, Chart shows 2/1/12. WMR shows by 2/7/12
Republic Bank site shows 2/8/12.I understand the part about the 26th or before being delayed, but people filing after me but before the 26th are getting DD before I.
UPDATE: WMR finally also shows DD date of 2/8/12.

My brother actually did this a few hours ago. He just went to a “title loan” place and talked them into giving him a loan so he can buy his new TV today instead of waiting for next week. They gave him a $2400 loan and he has to give him the whole $3300 refund by next Friday! Any later and he owes an extra 75$ per week. I thought he was joking at first but he actually did. Unbelievable. I could see doing that for bills or rent or something, but a TV? I shouldn’t have admitted he was my brother, lol.
Now if you’re in a situation where your car is about to be repoed or your rent is going to be a month late or some other emergency, this might be a last ditch option for you (or maybe you’re just miserably impatient like my idiot brother.) They were hesitant at first until he proved how much he was getting by logging into the WMR on their computer and showing them his SS card. He said the guy thought about it for about 10 seconds and made him the offer. Who knows, maybe you’ll something better than the $900 interest my brother paid, but it might be an option if you’re desparate.
EDIT: almost forgot. He did not have to leave the title to his car.Crystal85 said:
