September 16, 2023 at 3:37 pm in reply to: My refund was approved: Is the expected amount the amount I’m getting? #4533572SharonChaidez@sharonchaidez
Well, it’s September 5, 2023 & I still have not received by GA 2023 State Income Tax refund. The DOR system shows a negative balance (in green), but all the system says is that it’s being processed & it takes 12 weeks & to call the 800 number, which says the same thing. Is anyone else still having these problems?
Someone please help! There is an 826 code on my transcript for the amount of my full refund. I filed injures spouse electronically with my return in February.Buggoe
There was no message saying my refund was adjusted, just when to expect it to be deposited by.
How soon before i get the 4th bar? My return says refund processing since the 23rd May.Damien E Johnson
I have a 5071C letter and I need to verify my ID but when I sign into ID.me I get a couldn’t verify your identity on the IRS site … and I can’t get a live person @ the IRS on the phoneNj question
What is a Tax advocate? How to contact them? I got the NHW notice sent the document but never heard anything back except confirmation. Any similar cases here?Damien E Johnson
I filed in January and had to verify Id
I have as of date 7-17
Is that deposit date
Who is over this thread? My replies aren’t getting approved.Arreyis
Still nothing. IRS agents claim 6/17 is eleven weeks and to call again if it’s not done by 6/19. Ugh! This year has been the most annoying.GA
Just says processing. Georgia says no verification needed. I spoke with a representative a couple of weeks ago and said all looks good. The representative couldn’t do anything else to move it along. I keep wondering if 12 weeks is the magic time, then all moves to completion. This is definitely frustrating especially since this was electronic filing with direct deposit.WaitingGA2023
TJ – What are they telling you? Are you still Green Zero ? I forgot if you were expecting a Direct Deposit or a Check. Check the history area and see if something happened after May 9th, that would have affected you. Did you get a letter requesting verification?GA
E-filed on April 5th, GA refund says received and processing. Hoping I don’t have to wait the entire 12 weeks.76duuIx9UMKU
I’ve been sitting on as of 4/24 for a while. I called the identity protection hotline at the beginning of May cause my income transcripts said to, they informed me I was sent a cp01e last year and that because someone again tried to use my SSN to file my return was held up. Called again a week or so ago and she just said the IS form was holding us up now. Still no updates to any of my transcripts or wmr. We’ll see.TJ
Nothing yet….still waiting
Has anyone else experienced a delay?
Filed electronically and accepted on 2/26
Processing Date is 3/27
Seems like they processed mine a lot faster last year. I’m at week 11.Taj@ttbell08
Did you receive a letter pertaining to I.d. Verification?xLife
So, I have done my TAX on March 6th and still no refund approve. It says processing and wait for 12 weeks. I called today GA department of revenue and lady told me if I don’t receive my refund by May 29th, I should call back next day and ask where’s my money at. Basically you will have to wait 12 whole weeks it seems.Dave Walter
I’ve seen many people apply for the employee retention tax credit, but how helpful is it to employers and employees in general?Qasimja@qasimja
so i filed my taxes and had my fees takin out of my return so they went to my tax preparer first which was tax slayer then to me so how will i get my Georgia surplus tax refund now will it go to the bank tax slayer uses then to me? anyone else had this happen thanks in advanceCortezfam
I am still waiting and I filled 1/30.WaitingGA2023
TJ – I’m glad you’re seeing some positive movement. I received my DDD the day after I went to zero.
12 weeks is unacceptable. The DOR should do better. They give no explanations.TJ
For anyone still following this thread and waiting. I zero’d out last night and should have my refund this week. I pretty much had to wait the whole 12 weeks.Tre
How long did it take to comeTJ
I ended up calling yesterday. Was told if I don’t have it by the 8th, to call back, As of this morning, no changes. Will call back on 9th if I don’t receive it by then.WaitingGA2023
TJ – anything yet ?FaithInSC@bonitaw72
✋🏽 I filed 4/18. 😅Curious
Anyone else file late? 😅Velvetzea
Filed and accepted in January and still waiting for my refund. No letters, no transcript updates- had to get an advocate and they’ve been useless. Good luckWaitingGA2023
TJ – Hang in there, it looks like refunds are being released. Your rep said May 8th. I believe it will be sooner.
Ilovemoney80 – I believe you will be sooner than the 11th. Things appear to be finally moving.
Tonya – Congrats !TJ
@Tonya, Congrats on receiving your refund! I am still waiting….
We finally received ours today. This was the longest wait time ever. Praying everyone eill receive theirs soon.ilovemoney80
You can now login into the GA DOR and get the status of your Georgia surplus tax refund. I noticed the update this morning.ilovemoney80
OMG!! This is ridiculous!! I still have not received my refund! I called at 8 am and only had to wait a couple of minutes. I was told today that I should receive my refund by May 11th which is when the 12 weeks is up, she said she sees no reason why I have not received my refund and it looks like it was approved just waiting to be deposited. That is the second rep who told me that, so I’ll believe it when I see it.WaitingGA2023
Tonya, you’re at 12 weeks now. It’s time to light a fire under the DOR phone reps. Don’t be afraid to call. I called them numerous times.
Another site said there is a lot of W2 fraud going on, causing refund delays in the US. Maybe if the 2022 return has W2 from a different employer than 2021 it raises a flag. I did not have a W2 change from 2021.bkw
filed 4/18/23 ddd for 4/26 made over 6 figures with 5 child dependents married joint never had a refund approved this fast i think i might get my federal before my state .. anyone get there deposit early?Arliss
Has anyone received their refund yet?Boop
I have a 570 code with a date 5/8/23 on transcript
What does that mean?RobinA
I filed accepted 4/4…WMR shows 1 bar TT 152.. Pulled transcripts …..bottom 2 transcripts available but blank, and say no return filed, top 2 transcripts are N/A, I called 2 days ago and spoke to a rep who did not see any letters, delays, etc, The 26th will be my 21st day, so we shall see.BRS
Filed and accepted 4/7, no update on transcript or wmf as of 4/24, still processingJay@jay-b
@GoFigure: what dept do you work in?Boop
971 and 570 code.Gofigure
The as of date is not what the person wrote above me. It is a TICKLE DATE to come back to your file if it hasn’t processed yet.
How do I know? I work at the IRSGofigure
Finally, I got my 846 today, I filed electronically with IS on Feb 13, 2023.Cam5279
This one is new to me, so I thought I’d see if anyone else has experience they can share.
I’m the personal representative for an estate that required posthumous tax filing for 2022, a fairly straightforward senior return with a pension, social security, and a whole-life policy surrender all reported on 1099Rs. Filed the return in mid-Feb and about a month later received a letter asking me to send or fax supporting information verifying the withholding figures on the return. So I faxed over the 1099s on March 25. I didn’t, however, think to check WMR during this time so I don’t know how the status may have progressed. There is currently a “Take Action” bar in scary red letters that says “see below for more information” but nothing below it other than the standard “we’ve received your return and it is being processed” message. I hope that means they’ve received the information I sent and are processing it, but the fact that it is still flagged “take action” is concerning. And because the taxpayer is deceased and the death has (obviously) been reported to Social Security, I cannot access tax transcripts to get more detailed information without jumping through a bunch of paperwork hoops to provide the death certificate and probate letters of authority and all of that. The actual amount of the refund is negligible but I would very much like to close out the last of my responsibilities to the estate and this is the last remaining uncertainty on that front.
So I’m asking the internet hive mind: Has anyone else dealt with a follow-up request from the IRS? What is the normal WMR progression in this situation? How long did it take for them to process the supporting documents and issue a refund?
I’m still waiting. Filed February 1 accepted February 2 and still nothing.WaitingGA2023
Nobody else, yet?
Some of you filed in early February and still stuck on processing? Geez, come on Georgia, you can do better !TJ
@WaitingGA2023, congratulations! I know you are happy this journey is over! Hopefully, the rest of us aren’t too far behind.WaitingGA2023
The money is in the bank. These past two years were so bad for me that I will handle my State tax payments to make sure I owe without penalties. It will be great to see y’all posting your refund DDD’s !WaitingGA2023
Thanks for the sincere congratulations. I truly believe it was the second rep I talked to who made things happen. The physical talking to that rep probably verified my identity and the validity of my return.
I also think tk-snellings advice is definitely worth a try to get to the DOR reps who have the approval magic touch.Tori
I filed and was accepted 1/23. I’ve had no bars. No transcripts and when I called I was told its something holding it up (probably my name change). They put it in a wait pile back in Jan and it won’t be touched until after May 29th
Is anyone else in the long wait pile?ilovemoney80
@WaitingGA2023 I’m glad you finally have your DDD! I am still waiting for my refund, even though the representative I spoke with said that it was approved and I was just waiting for the funds to be released. When I tried calling earlier today, it said that there were 79 callers ahead of me. It sounds like there are several people who are also waiting for their refunds.TJ
WaitingGA2023, Congrats! I know it’s been a long wait for you!
Refund still sitting in green parenthesis for me, hopefully soon.WaitingGA2023
Status shows a DDD for this week ! This is the last status message change from GA. The next step is for the bank to show the deposit.WaitingGA2023
After rereading this year’s posts I suggest the following trick that gets the caller in touch with staff who are authorized to approve refunds: Tk-Snellings post on Feb 8 at 9:59p. Said to call 877-423-4746 and after selecting language use option 3 & 3. The last few years Tk just called and said “ I was just calling to check the status of my refund I usually have to call and verify myself to have my funds released” they place me on hold and come and say they’ve released my funds.
Congratulations. I still have the same funky 12 weeks processing 😭😭😭WaitingGA2023
Getting real close – GTC shows green zero, GTC activity shows refund amount as other, and check status says Refund Processing ten business days. I’m sure the second DOR representative made this happen. Next up is status giving me a DDD. Hopefully the dam is starting to break for all of us waiting for Georgia to issue refunds.Angeela
Strange this year. Normally refund received very quickly (never has Fed been faster) but has been a month and still waiting for WI…
Nothing special with my return.
Anyone else still waiting?
I couldn’t get threw today. It said due to high call volume we are longer taking calls. 🙏🏾🙏🏾 we get it next weekTJ
@WaitingGA2023, Congrats! Hopefully you’ll have your refund next week!TJ
Called again today. Spoke with super nice lady who told me mine was in accuracy review and have a DDD of around May 8th. Had to verify a few things but she said all looked good. I did ask about delays in general and she said there have been some with ID verification and return verification but if that applied, you’d receive a letter,WaitingGA2023
I’ve called more than four times, so I wouldn’t worry. You’ve passed ten weeks now. Even their website says to call if there hasn’t been a status change after six. the wait time when I called in the morning was not bad at all. I’d give them a call today if you can, otherwise you’re waiting through another weekend.
Good luck !
Congratulations. I’m so scared to call. I’ve called like 4 times since February 15. We filed February 1st accepted February 2 and still haven’t heard anything.Charlotte@ramen4life
We filed February 10th. Electronically with the injured spouse form. Our transcripts showed two 846 codes about the middle of March. So we got half of the tax return deposited March 29th, and the other half went to the state of Illinois for child support. Unfortunately those kids won’t see a dime, and he’s been supporting them financially even while paying child support ever since. Every case is unique, and I still support the child support system, just not in this case.WaitingGA2023
There’s hope – called, talked to two polite reps. Second rep put me on hold for a bit, then said refund approved. Rep said I should see green zero tomorrow morning. I certainly hope I’m getting closer. Rep did not say what made my return refund take so long these past two years.SMH
Is there any update on your tax transcripts? I filed on the 4/5 and it was accepted the same day. On my irs account, the account transcript and wage transcript show no return filed and the other two transcripts are N/AGoodie495
I deposited my paper check on Tuesday and there’s still a hold on it. They said they won’t be releasing it until the 20th. Anyone else experience something like this? Any way around it?
Thanks so much!Goodie495
Hey! I did get the check in Monday. However, I deposited it Tuesday and Bank of America put a hold on it and they said they won’t release it till the 20th. Which is super, super annoying.WaitingGA2023
No change this morning. I wish DOR would say why some are so slow. e.g. If DOR is waiting for company W2s to compare against returns, I wish they’d just say so, and give an approximate refund date. If still no change, I plan to call tomorrow morning.Andrea@ilovemoney80
I don’t understand when I read a post on Reddit several ppl on there said they had received their refund within just a weeks or some in a couple weeks, but they said they had received it so I don’t know what is going on.ilovemoney80
WaitingGA2023 – Same hereWaitingGA2023
Another groundhog day. I plan to call again at the end of the week.
