So I called my congressman office. They made me fill out paperwork and are sending to the TA office. I could of done that on my own! Not sure why everyone is saying call your Congressman. Anyway, they also told me that the IRS still works the refunds as a IS and sends what is due to the Student Loan people, then the Student Loan people send you…[Read more]

    • I spoke to the department of education on June 22nd because of what my ta said something about not even beginning to process till June 29th and the gentleman at the department of education said that that was inaccurate they are not garnishing taxes until September 30 so basically you won’t get garnished until next year’s taxes and they’re not…[Read more]

    • Then what is taking so LONG??? It seems it would go faster if they see that it is filed IS for student loans, they know just to “release” the refund. SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • My taxes were put in the system on February 13th and I’m still waiting. I have a tax advocate in the congressman’s aid. I’ve had the tax out of control 3 weeks now. and what’s really ridiculous is it that processing in random order shouldn’t then go for the people that have been there the longest then also the one with the lower-income. On top of…[Read more]

I am at a complete loss for words. I left messages for my tax advocate two days in a row no call back so today I called the IRS again. It was an active status being worked on May 19th and June 19th now they’re showing its not being worked on. On top of all that the injured spouse claim is for student loans which are shut down with the cares act…[Read more]

Okay, so I recieved my half of the stimulus due to filing Injured Spouse. I filed my taxes with the IS form on April 13th, recieved the stimulus May 28th via DD. It’s now been 12 weeks since filing and no update on our tax refund. Anyone know what gives here? Obviously theyve had time to process the form or I wouldn’t have gotten my half of…[Read more]

    • Wow, Amanda I can’t believe you received half your stimulus, I filed April 15th with IS using TurboTax no stimulus, no tax return, I tried to call IRS but their automated voice basically said they’ve had too many calls so they aren’t taking any more. I can access my transcript but basically nothing has been touched since May 16th. What state is…[Read more]

    • It’s out of Indiana. I was shocked too. But now I’m like well they had to have it processed. I didnt file IS on my 2018 taxes so they had to have used 2019s IS form for the stimulus. Fingers crossed for you. This is some rough stuff! We are so far behind, both were laid off for 2 months, hes back to work but I am not. 6 kids. We are drowning.

So my TA updated thru my congressman’s office. She said that my paperwork “needs more time to work the issue” whatever that means but it has been assigned within the unit. So that’s a plus at least. I guess with “unit” they mean the IS department. Another update at the end of July I don’t know if we can hold on much longer, feeling so…[Read more]

So, it’s been 16 weeks since I filed IS. Called several times and they can’t give me any information. I can not get a transcript because I don’t own a credit card or have loans. This is so aggravating! Does anyone know how much interest the IRS is going to pay, and how long it requires to accrue it?

    • The IRS is giving up to .5% in interest. By my calculations with what I received I got .49%. Basically take your expected refund amount and multiply it by 1.005 and it might give you an expected amount for your interest.

    • Thank you! Is that 0.5% or 5%? I was reading somewhere it was 5%

    • I read that same information however if it was “5%” I was shortened $302. It only comes to what I received when it is .5%.

UPDATE: so I got off the phone with a lady from irs but was told not to put any of my personal info as she can only answer questions about the stimulus. She told me that the 3911 form is the form we need to fill out IF we received a 1444 form which I did after CS took their portion. Follow the directions on the 3911 form to the T and only put in…[Read more]

Has anyone read question 52 on the economic payment for stimulus? It’s saying they can trace it and if we didn’t get it to file a 3711 form but the last irs rep I spoke to said I’ll need to file it with my 2020 taxes but the question doesn’t state that. I’m at the end of my rope but I can’t help but to have hope this nightmare will end soon. I’m j…[Read more]

Alright, so my transcript updated with two 846 codes. One is the larger amount going to me and the other being the smaller amount, however, when they took our Stimulus it paid off his back child support. Why would they still take anything out of our return? He pays automatically out of his checks, he is all caught up and owes $0 for child support…[Read more]

so I mailed an amended return to remove my daughter from my return so she could file and claim herself. This was back in early March. Also mailed my IS form at the same time for CS offset. Amended return, her return and IS form all mailed at the same time. She just called me this weekend and said she finally received her check. I’m glad…[Read more]

    • Sorry to hear. I was fortunate enough to get my refund, tho I’m struggling now and any portion of the stimulus would be great right about now so I’m trying to get that figured out. I do hope they come through for you tho

    • @leeda thank you. Me too we are holding on by a thread.

So I now show a balance on my transcript..but it isn’t a negative balance. But its for the exact amount my refund should be. Does that mean its still my refund though? I have the 970 Hardship refund code on there too now.

    • @Ash any negative(-) signs on your transcript is a credit to your account think of it as a backwards documentation. Is there an 846 or 766 code appearing by the negative sign? This will be good news in your case!

    • Thats the thing, there actually ISN’T a negative sign….which I though was weird. There is a 840 code (refund issued) and then the 970 (hardship refund). Very confusing since theres no negative sign..

    • I looked through my transcripts. What date does those codes have? Since my Injured spouse was for Child support I never received a 970 code. Do you have a 971 or 570 code on your transcript?

    • The date for both was 6/24. And yes i have three 971 codes on the transcript lol

    • Wow 3 😮. Was your IS for student loans? Did you mail your IS form in? I hear that you will get ur full refund from DOE if it’s for student loan debt.

Date 0605…still no refund or stimulus! Called IRS again this morning and they told me wait 8 more weeks since I was asked to resend my IS form. Original IS form was rcvd 3/6 as it shows on my transcripts. They’re basically telling me that my original IS form has been lost because it was never scanned into the system. Its marked received and…[Read more]

OK so I promised to let you know if the money showed up in my acct by 7/6/20…well I got a great surprise today because I received a check for my full refund plus interest. Shocking turn of events! This has been 5 months of Hell and nonsense but it’s finally over. For all of you still waiting…pester the IRS .

0705 with a tax advocate and speaking to my congressman and I’m still waiting on just my regular tax refund with an injured spouse claim due to student loans and now I have found new information that the cares act stopped all offset with student loans I really don’t know what else to do.

Wednesday is when irs make direct deposits.

  • T. Bell posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 1 week, 1 day ago

So I called the IRS today and I was told my direct deposit date was today or to wait 5 days for it to deposit. Is this normal or should I expect it today? And does the irs normally deposit refund any time of day or is it just in the morning?

  • Susan posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 1 week, 1 day ago

Woke up to a direct deposit! They withheld nothing and included interest! Good luck eveyone!

still waiting 20200605 electronically filed everything Jan 29, 2020 and was accepted the same day, contacted Congressman, TA still nothing! no refund and no stimulus!! I see people who filed way after me reporting that they at least got there refunds, Is it true that the IRS won’t process because it is up to the TA?

    • I ended up contacting my congressman then on June 19th contacted a Senator also. I then called IRS. They told me it was being worked on but could take 11 more weeks. I told that lady I was going to lose my house and car I needed my money. She was putting in something for my TA. Following Monday my TA called me said that everything was completed he…[Read more]

Well, it’s the end of June. I filed 2/6 electronically with IS and nothing yet. I’m based in California, but I don’t think that has anything to do with it. I was told when I called someone worked on it 6/3 but I call BS. Maybe I’ll see it next year?

    • I filed Jan 29 electronically with IS still nothing Congressman nor TA has helped every time I speak with someone at the IRS it is a different story.

  • Thea posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 1 week, 3 days ago

It’s nice to see people starting to get their refunds. Has anyone whose tax refund got offset for child support get their money back yet?

    • Money for refund or stimulus? You won’t get tax refund back for child support offset. The stimulus will most likely get given back through next years taxes. They haven’t figured any out yet.

    • I filed IS electronically with my taxes on 02/04, so I know I’ll get it back, all the agents have given me different answers regarding timeline. I just wanted to see if people have started seeing their portion come back to them.

    • CS offset. Received tax refund 6/24.

    • @heather7985 thanks for replying. that gives me hope. did it get deposited into your bank account or did you receive a check?
