Has anyone filed IS for a previous year? Example, our taxes were offset last year due to student loans. We didn’t know filing IS was an option and didn’t even know the offset was going to happen until our taxes posted to my student loan account. I sent in IS for this year and last year too. Has anyone filed for a previous year?

I have filed IS the last 4 years. Each year I have gotten it. My wife is the injured spouse. So at one point school was taking my taxes. Since doing IS they havent taken a dime and actually if you want them to not take your State taxes you can do that also. Your tax prepper should have all the paper work to file once you get that offset letter for state taxes. Call your prepper and ask them about that.
