Would love some help please- Husband and I filed our joint return and we have EIC and CTC. We did our taxes through turbotax and everything went well, accepted and approved refund. WE found out last week that there is an offset by the us dept of education for my defaulted student loans (they are keeping the ENTIRE refund). I have been told about…[Read more]

  • Great news!!! They are clearly doing something different this year. I e-filed with the IS on 1/23 and it was accepted same day. My refund was just deposited today! I had no idea what to expect as I had not requested transcripts and I never had any bars it only said processing on WMR.

So I’m new to this and hoping to get some help. We filed on 2/14 and it was accepted on 2/14 by the IRS. We filed our IS at same time. I spoke to the IRS today and they said 16 weeks!!

Everyone keeps talking about transcripts. Where are you getting these? How will I know my Injured Spouse form was received?

I’ve followed this forum the past 2 years and it’s very helpful. So thank you for all of the info and updates. Now then, onto my situation.
I e-filed my returns with IS form on 1/21, accepted 1/23. I’m the only spouse that works and I’m the IS because my husband owes child support. I also have a child from a previous marriage. A week after our…[Read more]

    • Forgot to add we do not live in a community property state.

    • I hate to see ppl go thru a lot. As far as the state goes they never took mines before so that’s new. I for one am still waiting for refund or at least release code on transcript. I don’t think its taking 11 weeks this year and see a lot of ppl getting their portion back very fast. Keep calling the IRS to at least see if its been assigned to someone.

To call or not to call….

I filed 1/23, accepted the same day. There haven’t been any updates. I tried to do online transcript and couldn’t find it, also tried to do mail and it keeps saying my address doesn’t match when it does. I type it exactly as I have on my return. So I can’t see any movement and have no clue if it’s even been transferred…[Read more]

    • I have seen ppl getting transcript faced to them, something about faxed to their phones. I myself haven’t done this, but then again still waiting as well lol. Yes I would call it sure it won’t hurt nothing

Hi, 1st time having to do this, Filed IS 2/3/17 and notified on WMR that it was accepted on 2/5/17. Got married last year and found out wife owed 4,900 in federal taxes from 2014 before I knew her. local IRS told me to do IS when I efiled so I did. that way it was together. Wife has no income and im the only source. claimed her and my son. will…[Read more]

got a code 846 this morning

    846 refund issued 3-13-17
is this now my refund date

  • I wish every IRS Center works as fast as the others. My return was sent to Philadelphia and they seem like they are the slowest workers of them all. I want a ddd. 😒

    • That processing center isn’t opened. It could by the hold up. IS are being sent somewhere else

    • Omg lol. So i have no idea where it is then. Because according to my transcripts, thats where it was sent. Ughhhhh so im probably being pushed back after others!

Filed taxes electronically 1/20, mailed in IS on 1/23.. IRS says they recieved IS on 2/2… WMR never warned of a offset which confused me because it did last year.. then last week it showed a DDD of 2/23 going into my bank account with my full refund.. never got it, and now WMR says it sent and deposited into my bank account, refund amount still…[Read more]

    • Same thing here – lesson learned, always file IS with your refund. People that filed the IS with their return received their DD yesterday. BS that it takes longer just because it’s filed separately.

Ok so this is our second year filing a IS form and I’m so confused
How do I figure out when I’m getting my return we filed before the acceptance date and it accepted on 1/25 so now all is says since then is it has been accepted and is being processed
Is there anywhere else I can find my status of my return because it hasn’t changed at all????

Hey everyone, so I am new to this IS form. I just received my refund by DD and was surprised that it was short a few thousand and I didn’t know why so I called the number on the irs site for offsets and lord behold that took majority of our refund because of my husbands student loans. I was told I can fill out the IS form but I’m having a few iss…[Read more]

    • Credits are things like just and example: child tax and earn income, could be a credit for school, or a house. Those things will normally get you a credit. You can go back to the IRS Website and they will have a list of credits and you can see if any of them was credits that you used. They are listed on your tax return paperwork also. Hope that helps.

    • If it’s not a community property state you will get all your refund money back as long as you earn the money and owe no debt.

    • Thank You that helped a lot I just sent my IS off it says it will be delivered on Monday

This is my very first year having an offset. I am currently not working , I stay home with my children. My husband is the sole provider for our family. The tax lady filed our return as married filling jointly. Department of education took our entire refund. I am unsure why she filed as jointly if I am not working and havent for 2 yrs.…[Read more]

Filed and accepted in January, filed IS separately via mail the next day – had a DDD of today but didn’t receive anything. Did some research and it seems that if you file the IS separate from your return they send you a paper check instead of DD, which is crap. So now I play the waiting game for the check to arrive. Hopefully they mail it out quickly.

    • Wait time is 8-10 weeks when you file the IS separate. I mailed mine in on Wednesday of this week for 2016. However, I mailed mine for the 2015 tax year over a month ago. I called yesterday to check on the status and make sure it had been received. I was told it was in “process” and that’s all they could/would tell me. Sooo, a quick time frame for…[Read more]

Filed and accepted 1/23 IS/EIC. I had to order transcripts through the mail. Offset line hasn’t updated, still says may be withheld. I see people have already received DDD, I’m debating if I should call the IRS. Will they research it yet? I know last year it had to be a certain time before they would even look. I wish I could see my transcripts…[Read more]

Anyone that got a DD date last Saturday, did you call the IRS earlier in the week and told you that it can take up to another 8 weeks? I just talked to a guy st the IRS and he said it could take up to another 8 weeks. I’m hoping that isn’t the case and I finally see an update Saturday.

Hi, all. This is my first year filing married and I filed the injured spouse form at the same time I filed. Should I have filed a separate injured spouse form for my state return [Oklahoma]? Is that even a thing? I ask because I received my OK state tax refund in the amount of $160. Our refund amount was $408. That only gave me 39% of our refund…[Read more]

    • Yes you needed one for State as well. Your federal should be fine.

    • Thank you. I just found the form (505) on my state website. It says not to file it with the return, so there’s still time for me to possibly recoup some of my loss. I really appreciate your help!

    • No problem.

    • I live in Oklahoma and deal with this every year. A few things to consider was who took the refund, was it owed to the state or to someone else? My husband owes OSU-OKC and we are disputing it but every year they take my state return. I usually receive a letter in the mail right after they take it so I call and make sure I do the same process…[Read more]
