@ Haley, yes your check should be mailed next Friday if you filed the IS form after you filed your taxes it is always a check.

I amended my return on 2/7 it was sent back for a missing paper. I sent that in it was received on 3/10. So call today 5/23 and they tell me that someone closed out my return so they had to do a referral which could take up to 30 days. I just have the worst luck. I amended my b/fs same issues as mine forgot the paper sent in received 3/10 got his money in 4 weeks.ugh!

My husband filed our joint tax return back in January (I didn’t work all last year though and we have 2 children) and we were expecting our return on February 6th. Then we found out they were taking for my student loan debt. Well we were told to file an injured spouse form through Turbo Tax so we did then 8 weeks later we found out it had to be mailed in! We hurried up and mailed it in and they got it on April 7. It shows on our transcript that it was received so that is great. We have been playing the waiting game and finally today our transcript updated with a few different codes and a new cycle number along with a date of June 9. It says:

          290 Additional tax assessed 20142105 06-09-2014
          971 Notice issued 06-09-2014 $0.00
846 Refund issued 06-09-2014 $xxxx.xx (no minus sign so I’m not sure if that is good or bad because I thought a minus sign indicated a credit)
776 Interest credited to your account 06-09-2014 -$xx.xx

Does this mean we will be getting a return back? It is just so confusing. We have been waiting for what seems like forever.

I started my taxes through intuit and when i sent them initially i hadn’t finished. I ended up doing my taxes through h and r block because intuit started glitching on me plus they almost made me miss out on like triple the refund. I was not aware of this earned income tax credit and how its beneficial to report all your income. do you think I could maybe get a double check since the first tax return was filed for alot less because i only had my w2’s initially when i started. does calling help?

Good luck on that…if those numbers meant anything I would have had my refund a couple months ago! Did you sign up for direct deposit or check? Your refund date will have a code 846 If that’s not there, no refund yet

905 cycle passed back at the end on Feb so you prolly have the 570 freeze/review or exam ect……..In normal circumstances when a cycle date is generated and done processing by wed/thurs 1 week you would get a DDD update 1-2 days later for the next week.

Did you have an 846 code? That means the refund has been released. My transcripts showed code 846 with a date of 5/19. I actually got the DD on 5/7. So may get your DD as early as tomorrow.

I just saw that my information on my transcript was updated. It says 20142005 6-02-2014. Is this when I should expect my DD or check? How do I know which way they are sending it?

They told me it should be in my account on wed but was surprised the person working on my case hasn’t given any updates. It shows the money was returned from my wife’s college. All that is left is dd into my bank account. Gosh, I hate they never update or give us status on the case. SMH

I am beyond pissed. the first time I called I was told my return went into review feb 4 and to call back in 2 weeks if I didn’t have my refund. 2 weeks passed so I called back. the rep told me I should have been got my refund because they posted it feb 4 but they didn’t send it out. told me if I didnt get it within 1 week to call back. called back last Thursday may 8, and was told it was in review and to call back if I had not seen it in one week. this is the shocker, I called back today and was told it was pulled for random review and guess what? MY REVIEW HAS NOT EVEN STARTED YET. Basically ny refund has been sitting up untouched since Feb 4. I couldn’t do anything but cry. this hurts to be lied to and jerked around.

                                  This is dumb

The state has the money to pay you back. They hold all this money in high interest accounts for as long as they can to make more money at your expense.

                                        Update 05/13/2014. Final update.

I called the DOR one week ago and spoke to someone on the phone. I explained that it was getting close to 90 days and I still hadn’t received my refund. The lady on the phone had me on hold (but I could still hear her typing) for about 10 minutes, and then came back on and said that she’d done something and that my refund had completed review and would be available in 10-14 business days. (Funny how their “hands are tied” and they “can’t do anything” until they have to meet the 90 day requirement, anyways.)

So I checked again on the DOR website on 05/12 and saw that it still said that my refund was being reviewed. I was beyond pissed off at this point, as it had already been 5 days since I was told that it was completed. I called into the DOR and the lady on the phone told me that my refund **HAD NOT** completed review, and to call back in 2 weeks. So I’m furious by this point because they have apparently lied to me, and it’s officially been 90 days since I submitted the return. I sent an email with a few choice words, demanding that they let me speak to a supervisor because I was not going to tolerate being lied to and given the run around. The next day (today, 05/13) I checked the website and it says that my return has been processed on 05/12 and will be deposited into 7-10 days.

Summary: I submitted on 02/12, and it completed review on 05/12. Exactly 90 days later. Which is what I’ve been saying all along, they just want to hang on to our money for as long as they can until they’re forced to give it to you. Get prepared to wait the full 90 days to receive your return, especially if it’s a larger return.

Hopefully all of this information has helped someone. Take care!

I filed in January as well, received an initial letter from IRS in February saying my account was being reviewed and then nothing else. My status has not changed once on the WMR. I also used Education Credit and have significant student loans. Any help would be appreciated.

Filed an IS form 2/28/14 due to (soon to be ex-) wife’s students loans. I filed the IS form by paper AFTER our refund didn’t come in from the original filing. Checked the IRS transcript and it says that the Refund was issued on 4/26/14. I have been reading many different scenarios in this forum, but none are exactly like mine. From what I have read here, though, it appears that 1) My refund check should be cut and sent to me 14-21 days after the refund is issued. Correct? 2) The check will be made out to both of us since we filed jointly and were not separated or divorced when the IS was filed. Correct?
Side note: this also happened 3 years ago with my loans. She hasn’t worked in 5 years but still filed an IS form to get some cash. The IRS gave her a couple thousand dollars which I just found out about last month. She hid the letter and must have forged my signature on the check or declared us divorced/separated which we weren’t. Attorney says nothing can be done. SMH.

I eFiled my 2013 return through H & R Block on Jan 22nd 2014. The return was accepted by the IRS on Jan 31st. I received a letter the first week in March dated Feb 24th that my return had been selected for verification and that I was to do nothing at that time and that the verification would be resolved in 60 days, at which point I should contact the IRS. 60+ days later I contact the IRS. I am informed that a referral letter will be sent to the IVO (Integrity& Verification Office) that they have ANOTHER 30 days to conclude the verification and release my refund. It is now the second week in May and I still have not received my refund. Every phone call to the IRS office takes 45 minutes of wait time to speak to a live person and then I am told that they have to wait for the referral to expire before any action can occur. I contacted the Tax Payer Advocate for assistance in this matter. A WASTE OF TIME. My humble opinion is that the Tax Payer Advocate is a Federally funded “hand holding” measure that does NOTHING that will actually benefit anyone.

I was laid off 2 years ago and returned to college as a full time student. A significant part of my financial budget for this semester was that tax refund. Now I am behind in my bills. I owe friends and family money. My auto insurance has lapsed due to non payment. I got a title loan on my 2001 car mistakenly thinking that surely the IRS would not need OVER 3 MONTHS to make a phone call or ask my former employer for documentation. They proved me wrong.

I am now a committed advocate to abolishing the IRS forever. The day that happens? Good luck with those extended emergency unemployment benefit forms you Jerks.

Ex filed taxes and his wmr still says date provided when available, offset hotline originally said he had a debt and gave local child support phone number for him to call. He has had no movement on his acct for weeks and for the past several days offset number now can find no debts for him and he got a 846 code today on transcripts for may 26th no 203 codes or changes on wmr so I am praying somehow I still get it but I am worried since it longer says he has a debt or code

I check WMR and it say: YOUR REFUND HAS BEEN APPLIED TO A PAST BLAH BLAH BLAH…

Did not hear anything for months. Transcripts updated to release code and the next week our DD was there. WMR never updated. We live in Texas but they gave us a little more than half our expected refund. Also, my name is not on his account but wells fargo let it go through. Good luck to everyone still patiently waiting.

She said it’s just sitting and has not been touched. Awesome…… they said they have 2-4 weeks to either refund or at least provide an answer. She said to give it a week and I can call back in for an update. Hope this helps.

I have a code of 570 with a date of 3/10. I have had no change in transcript or any further information since then. WMR says the same ol’ “return still being processed, we’ll notify you of a refund date when it’s available” blah blah blah. I’ve called weekly, no further information can be provided. No work has been done on it. Told me to call back. It’s been almost 12 weeks… you would think they could provide SOME type of an update. Quick to take our money, but sure as he** can’t return it in a timely fashion. It’s never taken this long.

I have tried all the numbers and just get rerouted back to the automated system where I get NO help. Any ideas? I have been waiting patiently and have not called or looked but now that I am already in May I would like some information. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

At least when mine closed that is how it went and most everyone else I have read about have been similar.

And BTW, the IRS started processing late but once they were up and running the government shutdown has nothing to do with current processing. Know your facts please before posting. How do I know?….I’m an IRS employee…that’s how.

I check the site and phones once a week for both on different days. it still says im being processed and will get a date when ready. I haven’t gotten any letters or anything from the irs. so is it really being processed or am I being garnished for some reason…(idk what though).

On the refund page it says “Your refund may be reduced even further if you owe any past due obligations such as child support, another federal agency debt, or state income tax.” but shouldn’t I be able to see if they were going to take more with the injured spouse?

After all the diff answers I kept getting about DD dates and etc, I finally got some real answers on their. Thought this might be helpful to someone. :)

My date is 5/19, but I figured probably DD next week with a 2 week safety built in for them, hence why it is dated for so far away.

I called in and only spent 26 minutes total from dial to hang up on the phone. A really nice man told me that after he forced a refresh on the system, it showed we’d get a DD on Wednesday. I was so excited to hear an actual date. He said WMR would update tonight or tomorrow night.

I got locked out of my transcripts so cannot view them until tomorrow. Boo :(

I called last week on the 23rd and they said i would see the deposit 2 weeks from that day which would make it next week. :-) Finally its happening!!

WMR still hasn’t changed from the still processing screen. Hoping that the DD will be sooner than the 19th since I know others have gotten it sooner. 12 weeks by my figuring, but 11 weeks according to the IRS. I call BS that they were still working on it. I think they are finished, but are instructed to hold them to the last possible day they can. Most likely the handful of people that got them faster than 11 weeks had either a new processor or a sympathetic one.

Do i really have to wait an extra 17 days before I can get anything? It will have been a total of 15+ weeks for this crap.
Also there is a 290 code above the 846 code and when I looked it up this is what the description was: Denied either claim made on Form 843 or request for removal of penalty. Now 843 is this: Refund issued. It also says this : Reversal of erroneous TC 841. Date and amount must match those of the TC 841 being reversed.. And to help with that last code 841 well, this is what it says: Refund cancelled. Now, from all that and going backwards… did they try to take our refund and hold it longer? is that really what I gathered from all that?
I’m excited that there is an 846 code, BUT when will I really get it? I’ve heard from so many that it’s not the correct date.

It states to “allow 90 days” on their website, not “allow 90 business days”. If they try to give me that bullshit, I’m gonna raise some hell. I’d like to see how long it took one of our asses to get into trouble if on April 15 (tax day), we told the state of MS to give us 90 business days to pay them. This lopsided possession of power is ridiculous, there’s literally no consequences on them, they have all the power concerning our refunds and they know it.

On 05/05/2014 (less than a week from now) they would’ve hit the 90 day time limit that they have to complete your review. I’m convinced Mississippi just wants to hang onto the money for as long as they possibly can, the state is dirt poor. They just give you the run around over at the DOR until the 90 days approaches, then they’re forced to pay you. I filed on 02/12, meaning 05/12 will be at the 90 day mark. I bet you my return goes through by next week, proving my theory on why it’s taking so long. Figures someone has to force them to give you your money, they never would otherwise.

He said their system updated over the weekend and to call back Monday if WMR did not update. I cannot access my transcripts today and WMR has not updated. I think those IRS people do not know what they are doing.
