Indiana state refund accepted 1/22/24, approved as of 1/26/2024.
That may be a record for us, honestly. Our state usually drags, but hey, y’all, they’re moving!
February 24, 2020 at 12:54 pm in reply to: Why do you need your tax so importantly this year? #4373011I don’t ‘need’ it this year. Nothing is in danger of getting shut off, we’re broke but that’s just normal life.
But I have house projects I’ve been looking forward to since paying the house off last tax season, and a brand spanking new baby boy I’d like to finish buying the ‘gear’ for. Again, nothing dire, baby basics are covered but I’d like to get a rocker/glider and a pack’n’play or the like for downstairs :)
Depends on the bank. I use Woodforest, normally get deposits a day early. From previous experiences, credit unions don’t tend to hold so release ASAP, and major banks rarely release before the date assigned.
My husband shows as processing on the website, PATH on WMR, and I show as PATH on both. Gotta love it. (Married/joint, so just slow updates, but still!)
@bnlav – Congrats!
I’m at 40+3 over here, getting induced Monday if the.little guy doesn’t get a move on before then. So I’ll definitely gonna have a baby before the stupid IRS does their thing.
Hey, at least it’ll be a distraction from compulsively checking 🤣
Let’s see.
1.) Pay off a loan from my mom
2.) Get gas lines ran to finally get the damned furnace that’s been sitting in my basement for 2 years hooked up (don’t hire family, people. Just don’t. Way to much money I’ll never see again shirt if taking a cousin to court)
3.) Fully functioning stove. See ‘gas lines’ in previous point.
4.) Am pregnant, today is actually my due date. So finish baby odds and ends once he gets around to making his appearance.Should leave a little left for random uses. Probably getting existing kids a thing or three and go out to dinner or something.
@Somuchmore
…You do realise those of us stuck waiting because of PATH are getting back more than we pay in, right? There’s legitimately no way for us to get a return of $100 or less, or to owe a ‘small amount’ money.
For someone talking about how great the PATH act is, you sure seem a bit ignorant about who it is affecting, and how.
Look, sometimes you just gotta except that some people (accept you, apparently) can’t be bothered to figure out homonyms.
Thats defenitely not worth their time, nmkay?
….god that hurts to write

Oh Lord that sounds adorable. Hope you get your $ in time to let him go all out and get amazing fishy friends.
February 21, 2019 at 8:10 am in reply to: NO PREPAID CARDS WITH DDD of 2/22/2019….BANKS ONLY #4289762And they didn’t lie. Cool. Refund was made available in Woodforest acct at some point between 1 and 7:30 EST today.
Oh, and free filed, so no other banks to clear etc
Money available in my bank when I woke up. Woodforest.
Filed with TurboTax 1/23, accepted 1/24, DDD 2/22. ALL DA CREDITS EVER!
Tax refund at Christmas… I could almost be okay with that. Would be a hella pike for the mini-humans!
@justin a disconnect should qualify for hardship. Not sure how that’d work if you’re also filing injured spouse.
The hardship would probably clear faster than injured spouse does tho.
February 20, 2019 at 10:54 pm in reply to: NO PREPAID CARDS WITH DDD of 2/22/2019….BANKS ONLY #4288838Woodforest here. Told the husband it was there and would be available tomorrow when he called earlier.
Here’s to hoping!
@Deep freeze
Thats awesome! Also running on space heaters over here.
Not because my furnace is still busted, oh no. Bought a brand spankin’ new one and have already paid for it’s installation. It’s because stupid cousin in law is an HVAC guy and has been putting off installing the new one because he can get away with doing so cuz ‘family understands’.
Am about to lose my mind. Like dude, any discounts you may have given us have been more than eaten by my electric bill. Get this damn thing installed.
Lesson friggin’ learned.
@Courtney Joy
like yea, the money would be good, but meh. We’re pretty okay anyway.
Husband didn’t know my phone bill was due today so took kids to dinner last night.
Oops, that won’t get paid, but it’s Straight talk. I won’t have any issues just staying on wifi for a few days and paying it whenever money appears or on payday. I don’t call people anyway, so it’s not worth pulling from savings or credit. Kids are healthy, happy, obnoxious heathens. Their butts are covered, their shoes fit, there’s pork for tacos in the crock-pot.Basically, we’re doing pretty damned good for us at tax season. I kinda like feeling stable enough to not be losing my mind about tax refunds :)
@momjess mine went way earlier than that last year, state this year went in 2 or three early as well.
I’m sitting on my couch snuffle sneeze coughing and trying very hard not to pee my pants because three full term+ babies sure as hell screw up everything.
And then you made me laugh in the middle of it.
I’m sure you know how that ended up 😂
I keep checking my stupid bank hoping (Wood forest, normally doesn’t hold anything).
Nope. Still the same $20.48 as 10 minutes ago
Stupid money. Kinda wish I didn’t free file, then I could stalk another site too 😶
@blackwood
I’ve gotten deposits into my actual accounts the last few years (self filed), but when we used tax services and prepaid cards it always wound up being in my husband’s name because he was listed first on the return.
Heck, currently work retail. Half the time emerald cards don’t even have names on them just ‘H&R customer’ or ‘Emerald Member’.
Should they be in both parties names? Yup. But it’s easier to just do it as the primary on the return so that s what happens 90% of the time in my experience.
February 19, 2019 at 12:40 pm in reply to: Any good news??🥳(doesn’t have to be tax related) #4282490There’s a bunch of irritation and rage everywhere today, so just gonna bump this back up and hope some people focus on some positives while awaiting the whimsy of the IRS/banks :)
If you’re calling about an emerald account in your husband’s name it doesn’t matter what your tax filing status is, it just matters whose name is on the account. It’s basic fraud prevention, not sexism
@dallas
Every year I promise myself I won’t file before opening day. And yet I still do.
I actually got a DDD in the first round of PATHers this year at least, but it does seem to penalize early filers most of the time.
February 18, 2019 at 8:01 pm in reply to: TurboTax Blue Bar is full but still says accepted #4279568@Mommajess
They do. Hire people right before (and during) tax season, I mean. One of their contracted call centers is about 15 minutes away from me, husband worked for them a few years ago then got switched to another contract after tax season.
Their actual tax advisors are supposed to be trained/helpful, but most call a seem to end up on a software/customer support line.
Mine is kinda tax related, but not OMG STRESS FREAK OUT.
I have confirmed that our refund finishes paying off the house. We weren’t sure where we were exactly with interest and a couple late payment penalties, but it will be enough to payoff and have a little bit of cash still left. Won’t be able to prepay our stuff like normal, but losing the house payment seems 100% worth it.
Am EXCITED!
Finally got a DDD for the 11th. Yay, I guess?
I’ve never had to ID verify and nothing has changed this year so I doubt that will change. Still sitting in that stupid message for the main person on my taxes and ‘not yet in process’ on the secondary person listed on the return, so they haven’t even looked at them yet.
Cripes this is a slow year.
You get back what the spouse would have gotten if filing separately, more or less. When I claimed it, I had to specify I’d have claimed our kids, etc, and did get back some child tax money, I think? But guaranteed half, no. Just whatever they would have received based on their income alone.
And it takes FOREVER! An extra 2-3 months when I did it, though mine was multiple years ago, so may be faster with efile/dd.
Also needing my tax check for house buying purposes. Thankfully I’m not on as tight a deadline as you, but still impatient so I can get everything started and get us moved in and etc etc.
I just want it sorted, dammit
@kellyo – sounds about like the split in my house lol
We’ve agreed house down payment and car paid off. Or rather he conceded when I pointed out how much money that frees up for us on a monthly basis ;)
Paying off my car
Down payment on a house
Kid school uniforms
Rock on the Range money (falls on our 10th wedding anniversary this year, very much looking forward to going)February 13, 2017 at 11:34 pm in reply to: Just noticed this – IRS ARTICLE – "PATH ACT Refund Timing" #4169474@Gary-Child Tax Credit doesn’t get you delayed, it’s the ADDITIONAL Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Credit that are affected by PATH.
I’d assume they only had CTC and you have CTC+ACTC or EIC
Nope, mine switched to ‘Your return has been received but has not completed processing. Your 2014 tax year refund has not yet been issued.’ today though. Removed the ‘within 2 weeks if efiled’ line.
