I haven’t received anything yet… my transcripts were the same yesterday and i got locked out today… as of yesterday my codes go…. 846 2/24/14…. 898 2/24/14…. 971 injured spouse form received 2/18/14…. i mailed my form on 2/14/14… i couldn’t believe they received it in 4 days…. so as i understand it…. they released my money to the debt so i have to wait for them to reverse it and then refund it again… also i take my 971 code as your 570 code…. same date for me…. so i have many questions… nothing in the mail today…. WMR shows where they paid the debt but nothing else…. its so stressful…. its my debt… i don’t work outside the house so it is all my husbands income… so i think they will refund our whole amount…. i am hoping

Kristin looking at tax codes it says that 971 means a letter is being issued showing they they kept some or all toward a debt

Does anyone know when and/or how often the transcripts update? ie Is it worth checking several times a day or is it like the WMR site that only updates at midnight?

Hey everyone!!! My Story—E-filed both together on January 25th, accepted next day. 2-3 weeks in WMR status changed to good ol “a deposit date will be provided when available”. So here I sit and I wait, obsessively, checking WMR for an update and my account transcripts for an 846 code(deposit code) to show up beneath my 570 code which by the way has the 2-24-14 date next to it… I do know from reading other threads that there was a guy with 2-18-14 next to his 570 code that got his refund Tuesday…from reading other threads a averagely accurate statement that has been made is that roughly 3 weeks after your 570 code date is when u should get a DDD and also ur status on WMR roughly switches 2-3 days prior to that.

Now that ive given my guess-taments, I have a question……I have read that a lot of people see a 971 code following their 570 code on their transcripts, and this codes shows that money has been applied to your debt…. Is this true for everyone??? I hope not, because if so, I guess I have a longer wait than initially presumed.

My 570 was on 2/24. So if that’s the case I’ll be thrilled. But not going to hold my breath. Things rarely go that well for me lol

if the 3 week thing is right…. maybe some good news for ya…. crossing my fingers…. i have noticed that there is not near as many injured spouse people on here this year…. alot of the identity theft people…. so maybe that’s a good thing for us…..

My refund status on their website has not changed in weeks. Is the site even working??? My refund was accepted by the state on 2/4 and i have heard nothing since. Im sure if i owed them money i would have heard from them the next day. Im getting a little frustrated with them….

I spoke with an agent who said our 8379 form was processed on March 4th. And that it should be two to three weeks and our refund would be in. They says it’s 45 days from when they revive the form which for us was Feb. 10. Now if you efile the form and don’t mail it in separately they say it could take 11weeks. This is crazy!!!

I received a letter with code CP 53 as well, stating that i will get my refund in 3 to 4 weeks from the date of the notice. which for me is March 10. I wonder if it will update tonight or tomorrow. As of today 3/13 the WMR tool says that my refund was deposited yesterday 3/12 but so far nada. I will have fees deducted by SBBT so I contacted them to see if they had any info. While the gentleman that I spoke with was extremely helpful it basically came up that they had not rec’d anything from the IRS and that the dates given by the WMR are not reliable. He also said that the IRS transmits refunds every day of the week, not just once a week as I had suspected. So basically just wondering if anyone is in the same boat OR if anyone with a DDD of 3/12 has rec’d their refund yet.

On my transcript I still have the 570 code with the date 2-24 my as of date at the top changed Monday 3-10 to as of 3-31-14. Not sure exactly what that as of date means? I saw somewhere that a couple of people who filed an IS had direct deposit dates. So I will just conitue to wait I guess what else can you do.

This is our 4th year filling IS…let’s see what the experience will be like this time around! lol

The website says “Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.”. It has been like that for two weeks?? This is ridiculous. We are going on six weeks! I already got my state return which I efiled along with the fed. Like I mentioned, my son paper filed after me and got his state taxes yesterday. And I need the money! grrrr

However, that’s only helpful if it’s placed on your transcript *after* your 8379 is received and processed; otherwise, it’s just telling you that your refund was initially approved (and then taken). Is there any code *after* the 846 on your transcript?

I see one that has some codes on it and I’m seeing dates. I’m not sure what these dates are exactly. I sent in my return 21 of Feb, I’m seeing a date of 03 March and 15 April also code 846 but I’m not sure what that is. So many codes I which I knew how to understand this stuff

Otherwise, when you are able to order your account transcripts (You can click that under the Tools heading on the irs.gov main page, as “Get transcript of your tax records”) you should see the date that the form was received into the system on your transcript.

Ok so this is the first year me and my husband have had our return taken because of my student loans. I am a stay at home mom have been for 2 years now and a military spouse, budget is always tight here. The Day I found out our refund had been applied to Education Department blah blah blah, I went down to an H&R Block, paid $20 to have our injured spouse form done and mailed it before I got home so it could go out that Friday morning. This was Feb 20-21. I’ve been waiting patiently, the only thing I have received in the mail so far is the letter telling me your return blah has been deposited to blah for blah blah blah. Now! I’ve gone on to the IRS website everyday since and I have been checking for an update on Wheres My Refund. Nothing. The same thing they have had since I found out it was being taken. I tried calling my local IRS office were we sent it, can’t get through to anyone. I already know it takes about 8 weeks, my question is when will I see that they have received it. Because I’ve heard of things getting lost or them not starting on it until late so on and so on. But to make sure I’m not getting put behind in the system I’ve been cyber stalking the IRS to make sure they are handling business with the return. I feel bad enough as it is with me being the reason my husbands hard earned money is being taken because of my student loans. I just need to know how do I go about checking on the status of my form. I wasn’t kidding about stalking them everyday :)

                                                                                                                    Lloyd

@Julia: I went through this same crap last year because I go to school online and they had to verify that I was in school in order for me to get the education credit. This is my last year and I graduate in April so this is probably the last year that I will get the education credit. It seems as if the same problem is occurring again this year: having to verify that I am indeed going to school online, although you have to wait to get your from 1099 T from your school in order to put on the tax form the school code and the tuition figure. Ugh I just don’t get it. Today is day 29 for me excluding weekends and President’s Day.

The rep stated my refund was under review and would take 90 days. My status showed ” has been received and is still processing”. I checked again this morning and it showed “pending approval”. I filed on Feb 5th. This is very confusing and annoying.

I printed the last four years, plus this year and compared. I only had this 570 code on one year of transcripts. I do know that any April 15 date refers to the date you have to file your return by. That date is the same every year the only thing that changes is the year. This is the deadline for all to file their taxes with the IRS. Every year of transcripts looks different for me. The credit transferred out and then back in always shows the same date, even though I know they didn’t happen on the same day. I do know that once they credit the transfer back in, the refund should be coming soon. I called the IRS today because I thought I made a mistake on my IS form and was transferred to injured spouse dept. My case had been assigned, but was not worked yet. I go online to check my transcripts at least twice a week, no change yet.

Interesting that Patrick mentioned the DD date is usually 3 weeks after this. That puts me at 3/31/14 and at the top of my transcripts that is the date next to the any incrued interest or penalties portion. I wonder if that means anything? The other date listed is 4/15/14 next to the 806, 766, and 768 codes.

One month and a day, from the day they received it. I have also had to wait longer than the given eight weeks, due to computer issues at the IRS but it usually takes eight weeks or less.

Directly from my own transcripts, my own experience filing the 8379 individually a few years ago resulted in a 971 code on January 26th, stating the the 8379 form was received, and the actual refund was issued (by check) on April 11th. So it took approximately 10 weeks from the time the form was received to receive my refund. That said, the IRS has made improvements the past few years in their processing, so hopefully yours will go faster. The biggest hindrance is that there has to be an actual reversal of funds applied to other debts before your refund can be issued; this does not occur when you file the 8379 electronically at the same time as your taxes.

That said, the IRS “wait times” are and have been WAY off for years now. The average total time, this year and the past few years, for filing it together electronically is right at 6 weeks from acceptance to DDD. I have not heard of anyone receiving their refund back that quickly when mailing in the form separately; my own took roughly 11 weeks when filed that way several years ago. Please do update us when you receive your refund.
