When can you file your taxes?
You can submit your tax return before the IRS begins processing as early as the first week of the year with many tax preparation providers. You don’t need to wait until the IRS begins accepting tax returns but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January. Tax returns filed before the IRS officially opens sit in a “queue” and are held until the IRS officially begins accepting tax returns.
Your tax return may be selected in a test batch. If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early. This can result in early direct deposits depending on the payment provider you select. Our cycle chart will update with key dates including test batch dates.
When does the IRS accept tax returns?
The IRS usually opens around the third week of January each year. They announce the opening date early in January.
The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on January 26, 2026.
When is the IRS test batch?
If you file your tax return early, it may be sent to the IRS in a test batch before the IRS has officially opened for the year. It is usually a week before the date the IRS begins accepting tax returns. This has resulted in refunds in the past that can be posted by direct deposit as early as the day after tax season opens.
When will I get my tax refund?
Early filers whose returns are accepted in a test batch can anticipate a tax refund as early as the day after the IRS opens the January filing season if your return was in the test batch. The day that the IRS deposits refunds varies for regular returns but we notice trends based on the method you chose to file and select to direct deposit. DDD of 2/4 and my deposit just hit my Patelco Credit Union account at 951am Pacific. They are coming!
I just saw someone on facebook say they just got their refund. They are following the PATH. Possible?
Just checked and SBTPG is saying amount not found ddd 2/3 according to wmr 2/16 transcripts. Fees from refund,

@ASDmamabear: I got the delay message in 24. I’d verify and then 60 day hold
@TXLady 26: once you log into your IRS account, you can view records, and that will allow you to access your different transcripts for each year. All of the codes that people talk about are on there.
Is Turbo Tax not using SBTPG anymore?
those 2/4 deposits starting to drop in the last 30 min. I havent got mine yet, but Ive seen multiple people say so in facebook groups
How are you getting the information posted in the comments? Where in the irs account is this information?
@NYkhidd: Yes I will get my social security payment on February 5th or 6th because I have Go2bank early card.
@Sexy: I know except for my hubbys military paycheck. if the 1st is on a sunday we get it the friday before and if it’s a monday then the sat before. I fully don’t expect it to come until 2/4 unless for some reason the irs doesn’t send it
@MelloDello53: social security is different for everyone .. I know many people who get social security between the 1st and the 5th of the month

Good morning beautiful ppl. So, does anyone know what day the irs updates it website to view your information return documents? I can see one employer already in the system but I’m waiting for kraft heinz settlement W2 to post. Thanks in advance!
@Sheila33 does that mean we can be changed from weekly to daily? I was weekly for many years and I just noticed when I looked at the 2024 transcript that my cycle code ends in 4… but prior years was 5.. I’m just curious because this is the longest I’ve waited for the bar to move from received to approved in the past 6 years.. transcript shows no return filed.. blank with zeros and no codes…. Btw. THANK YOU SO MUCH.. you are awesome .. you really help to put minds at ease..
@itstaxtimeagain: my state has been processed since the 20th and just a Friday last week. It had a direct deposit of February 5. I would’ve thought I would’ve had it by now but neither one.
