Congrats! Hoping for something similar here, although I just filed today 2/13. Already got the message that my return has been accepted. I’ve always been a PATHer but I don’t think I am this year.
I just checked the tool and mine says it will be sent to my bank on March 17th!!
I use BoA, and have had used the same account ever since direct deposits from the IRS have existed. Every single deposit has always been on exactly the date they said, never early, never late, usually within the wee hours of the morning.
I’m 3/2 also! That was super fast for me, I only just filed on 2/21, and it got accepted same night even though that was a Sunday. WMR was up by either Mon or Tue, transcripts Thurs, and WMR on Fri! So happy! BoA for me, which is never ever early. Always exactly the day of.
Me. Filed on 2/21, got text message a few minutes later saying it was accepted by the IRS. WMR went to one bar almost immediately, I think it was the very next day. Saw the 846 on my transcript today, which I hope means DDD on WMR tomorrow. Additional child credit but nothing else unusual.
Fingers crossed for all of us to see some magic on WMR tomorrow!
Looks like I might be getting mine today! I’m in Florida.
Nothing for me today. I am in Florida.
BoA and nothing yet but I have my hopes up for tomorrow (Tuesday 4/14). Deposits almost never appear in BoA on Saturdays, Sundays, or Mondays (yes there are rare exceptions but not for anything like this). I imagine that most “big” banks are gonna be the same.
Hope to see you all back here in a few hours with the happy news!
I’ve used BoA for a long time, and I have always gotten my DD on the exact DDD date, never before, never after. Usually somewhere around 5ish am ET.
I’m gonna guess that it’s “sorta…”
I believe the US Treasury Dept does send the funds to our financial institutions several days in advance, with instructions to post them on our DDD. Whether banks heed that or not is a different story. Seems like you mostly see that on prepaid cards where there’s not a regular account to hold a credit behind the scenes.
I, however, use BoA, and every single year since WMR has existed, my money has posted on the exact date of the DDD. Seems like most “regular” banks won’t post it early.
Any code on WMR or on your transcript? I’ve read that there is a (very rare) situation where a delay can come up even after a DDD has been given. Search “code 1121” on this forum.
It looks like there’s some confusion around two different WMR readings that look very similar. The operative word is “Still.” Still = uh oh.
The one that says “We have received your tax return and it is being processed” is generally assumed to be good.
But there’s another one that says “Your return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.” That one is sometimes not so good.
Daily
Filed 1/22, accepted 1/23, PATH message on WMR on 1/30, but no movement ever since. Just sat there exactly like that until today, code 846 for 2/22 on transcript, and “Your refund is being processed” message on WMR.
So, wait, are you saying you got your 846? Are you a PATHer?
I’m not an expert, I’m new to reading transcripts. But I doubt there’s any rule that says they must update with an 846 before WMR can update. The fact that they historically have done so could just be coincidence, or lucky timing based on days of the week and when those individual things update.
Today being the 15th, I believe they just started the final processing of our returns, and the daily update of the transcripts happened before business hours. And I don’t think they update live. But just because our transcript doesn’t show it yet, doesn’t mean it’s not going on behind the scenes.
I’m still holding out hope for a DDD tomorrow on WMR. I don’t expect the transcripts to update until at least next Tuesday, maybe Wednesday, by which time our money will already be on its way.
Of course I’m just trying to think positive, but the truth is that none of us knows for sure. We’re all guessing and hoping.
You’re not the only post I’ve seen saying that. Who knows what it means though… I want to think that it means progress is happening!
I’ve seen a lot of different theories out there about the exact moment that PATH expires… but none of them seem likely to have shown an update today. When we see an update on our WMR, it is the result of work that was completed by the day before. And since yesterday was only the 14th, it is unlikely that they were doing anything with PATH refunds.
Today… however… is a very different story…. I imagine that they are frantically processing right now and we might start seeing some WMR updates tomorrow… whether it’s DDD’s or just the removal of the PATH message. Of course this is just my personal guess, none of us knows for sure.
I’m not giving up hope that we may still see our WMR update tomorrow with our DDD’s…
I’ve read that transcripts *can* theoretically update anytime any day, but that definitely doesn’t seem to be the norm. Most people see them update on Tuesdays and Fridays. But just because we see the update on the transcript those days does not necessarily mean there wasn’t progress going on behind the scenes that just hasn’t been posted yet to our transcript.
The way my very-hopeful mind envisions it is that today, being the 15th, they all kicked into high-gear and are right now as we speak whizzing through the system, generating millions of 846’s even though we can’t see them on the form.
WMR does, however, show updates on Saturdays… so… well here’s hoping!
I think technically she’s right that they only just begin processing today, but understand that everything was already sort of pre-set up and ready to go just waiting for the clock to tick. That “processing” she’s talking about will go extremely fast, and is probably already underway as we speak. It’s always been that way since the PATH act started, and since we’ve gotten our refunds on or around the 22nd in years past, I still have hope that it won’t be much different this year.
Maybe give or take a couple of days because the 15th this year fell on a very inconvenient Friday, with a holiday Monday afterward.
I did some similar sleuthing a while back, and noticed that same pattern. I am hopeful that it will be the same this year, and many seem to hold the same opinion.
My only hesitancy is the day-of-the-week pattern. Last year, transcripts updated on Friday, Feb 16th. This suggests that on Feb 15th, when the hold lifted, they started processing. And then the next day, Feb 16th, they updated to reflect the work that was completed the day before.
This week, if they release the hold on the 15th, that will be tomorrow, which is a Friday, and they will process them tomorrow. That would stand to reason that the transcript would update the following day, the 16th, to reflect the work that was completed the day before. Problem is, transcripts don’t typically update on Saturdays. Nor does WMR typically update on Sundays. Next business day? Tuesday, because Monday is a holiday.
We don’t have precedent to know what would happen after that. Transcript & WMR maybe update on Tuesday? Or Wednesday? Or worse, the end of the week for weeklies?
So I’m hoping with every fiber of my being that our theory about tomorrow is right…
Every year I always say that I’m not going to get myself back into this, that I’m not going to stretch myself to the point where I am relying on my refund. And yet, every year, here I am again. I never learn.
For me though, it’s not the “when” that is killing me. It’s the “if.” I’d be fine if they told me it was going to be 3 weeks from now, as long as they said it was guaranteed. You read the horror stories about it refunds being delayed indefinitely, or any other number of unexpected things that arise, government shutdowns, holidays, computer problems, mistype on address, omg the list goes on… so I think I speak for many of us here that we’re all just looking for some reassurance, crying on each other’s shoulders. There is comfort in knowing that we’re not alone.
Bump because I didn’t use Turbo Tax so obviously no email for me lol… but I’m watching this thread anyway because it would be good news for me too if there’s evidence of progress….
No one officially knows that there will be an update tonight. It’s all just a guess based on, well, hearsay and previous years patterns. But… the very strong popular theory, myself included, is that PATHers might start updating tonight on the Transcript to show the 846 code, followed by a WMR update on Saturday morning, with a DDD of approx 2/21.
This pattern has been very consistent for the last few years. But we’re very concerned this year because of the days of the week these all fall under…
The pattern that seems to be developing is that the transcript updates with the 846 the day before WMR with the DDD. And the update is for processing that was completed the day before. Which means if we start processing on the 15th, the earliest we’d see an 846 would be on the 16th. This is what happened last year. But… the 16th this year is a Saturday. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone mention a transcript update on a Saturday. Or a WMR on a Sunday. And Monday is a holiday.
The earliest DDD’s with that pattern last year was 2/22. But with the days of the week being a day behind this year… I don’t know. I’m hopeful, but not optimistic.
Interesting about what constitutes “mid-February.” I’m not sure if the official wording actually says a date, I think it just says mid February. And in years past, I’ve always seen it say “after February 15th.” This year, it’s been a little more vague about an actual date, with a lot of people still saying the 15th, but I’ve seen a few posts saying the 14th… I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but the 14th would make sense this year because the pattern for years past has been:
Holds release the 15th
Transcripts update the 16th with the 846
WMR shows DDD’s showing the following ThursdayIt makes sense that they would push it through this year on the 14th because of a) the looming uncertainty of government shutdown and b) the 15th is a Friday before a 3-day holiday weekend.
So everyone let’s keep our fingers crossed… pray, light a candle, whatever you do, get that positive vibe going!!
(repost from another thread) I’m curious to know, for anyone that has a 1541 and also claimed EIC and/or ACTC, did you ever get a PATH message? Or did it go straight to the 1541?
I’m curious to know… for anyone got 1541 that claimed the EIC and/or the ACTC, did you go to the PATH message first and then it switched to 1541? Or did it jump straight to 1541?
There is no Pepe Silvia!!
Out of curiosity, is there anyone *this year* that previously updated to PATH, but then updated again after for a 1541, etc?
I have seen posts that this has happened in years past, but I don’t believe I’ve seen anyone post about it this year… I soooo want to believe that this is true…
Claimed both credits. Filed on 1/22, was accepted on 1/23, WMR updated 1/24 to one bar. Updated 1/30 to PATH, no movement since.
Checked my transcripts for the first time on 2/4, and they were already there (I don’t know how long they had been there, that was the first date I ever tried). Just the usual codes, no delay or take action codes, no 846 yet. I check every day but they have not changed at all from when I looked at them for that first time.
I have also been looking for patterns so I’ll share what I’ve gathered so far. Looking at last year’s feed, the posts of PATHers transcripts updating started on 2/16, showing a code 846 for 2/22. WMR updated the next morning, 2/17 showing that same DDD.
The days of the week this year are problematic for that same pattern, as 2/16 is a Saturday, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone post that their transcript updated on a Saturday. And 2/17 is a Sunday, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone say their WMR updated on a Sunday. Monday is a holiday, not sure if anything would happen on that day. Most banks, at least, would be closed.
I really hope I’m wrong about this, but I’m putting my bet on seeing transcripts update no sooner than Tuesday, 2/20, WMR updating no sooner than Wednesday, 2/21, and DDD no earlier than Friday, 2/22. More likely, the following Tuesday, 2/26.
Also from what I’m reading, those 1541 take action codes can, theoretically, show up anytime. So we’re not safe until we actually see either an 846 or a DDD. Those posts started showing up this week, with a big batch of them yesterday.
My transcripts are all filled out as well, minus the 846 code. I don’t know what date they actually showed up because they were already there when I checked for the first time, which was this past Monday. I filed on 1/22, accepted on 1/23, and PATH msg on 1/30.
I was digging through last years feed, mostly looking for PATHers but I suppose it could have applied to anyone. But they started posting messages in the main news feed that their transcripts updated on the morning of 2/16 to show their 846 code for 2/22, then on 2/17 to show that DDD on WMR, That was 6 days–but it included a holiday.
I hope/wish I was wrong, but it’s unlikely that we’ll be in the update tonight… I’m thinking more like a week from tonight… and I’m worried that even that might be optimistic. :(
I was looking at last year’s feed and the PATHers started posting on the 16th that their transcripts were updated, and on the 17th that their WMR updated for a DDD of the 22nd. Those dates fall on the next day of the week this year–the 15th is on a Friday. So if our transcripts were to update on the 16th, well, that’s a Saturday. And the following Monday is a holiday. So we might see our transcripts update on Tuesday the 19th, WMR on Wednesday the 20th. Five days later is a Sunday.
The days of the week are not behaving nicely for us this year.
Is it true that transcripts only update on Friday mornings? I read that somewhere but I’m new to transcripts so I cannot speak from any personal experience. If it is true, that would throw the theory off, since DDD’s could be on different days of the week.
It won’t appear on there until you’re done. But once it does appear on there, you’d see it with the other codes under the “Transactions” heading, the columns say “Code” “Explanation of Transaction” “Cycle” “Date” “Amount.” Code 846 is typically the last one in the list, and the date it shows is the date you’ll be getting your refund.
Filed 1/22 H&R Block
Accepted 1/23
Switched to PATH 1/30
Cycle code 20190502
EIC, first time with that since before PATH existedI’m new to reading transcripts, can someone tell me what the cycle code means? I know that mine translates to day 2 of week 5 of 2019, and that’s the day I posted to the master file. But I’m not sure what to do with that information…
I filed on 1/22, accepted 1/23. One bar until PATH message appeared last Wednesday (1/30). I am able to see transcripts from 2015 to 2018. The 2018 is all filled out except the magic 846 code. I don’t know how long the 2018 has been there–last night was the first time I ever checked for it and it was already there.
