Thanks @chattycathy, but im really not I just get my info from the great mods here at IGMR, and I pass it on to you guys. They are the gurus, im just a messenger :) im glad you got some answers tho, and @concernedny isn’t the only one that can help all the mods on here are quick to give the best answer they can, atleast that’s been my experience :)
Hey @chattycathy if you go over to the home page and talk to @concernedny he can help you with your question about 3rd party designee. :-) good luck
@chattycathy did you have a power of attorney?
Thanks @ashley and @chaddox.. So foreveryone having trouble getting into transcripts I remembered seeing @ray say something about this last night so I searched him and this is what I found…hope it helps some of you and I hope those that haven’t gotten news get some fast…I am still going to be checking in here daily so if anybody has a question that I can answer I will good luck-
@ Anyone who has trouble seeing their TRANSCIPTS and it says wrong info try these 2 steps and dont forget trans can bee fine for weeks then tell you info is wrong all at once so they’re kinda glitchy too. __TROUBLE VIEWING YOUR TRANS?____________OK i figured a couple things out thats been giving folks troubles in seeing their TRANSCRIPTS. #1 You cannot view them or says “Wrong info”……..If you have a middle initial on your return try putting that after your 1st name with no space. #2 You always get the 122 code when trying to view TRANSCRIPTS… You know how you see the box that asks why you are wanting them for with all the little buttons you select? Not selecting the “other” button “at least” as a option will give you a 122 error code.
Hi @tbailey79 you need to look at your account transcripts and then let us know your codes..also we have a new injured spouse forum that was started it is the one with 2014 on the title..if you go to that one you will get more answers :-)
Yeah it was just a few mins ago @chaddox !!
I got an 846 for 4/14 guys!!! Yay!!! We are getting our whole refund back….it just updated just now :-) I’ll still be here and when WMR updates I’ll let you all know :-)
@chattycathy that’s ok I still don’t know a lot of the acronyms people talk about on here…or even in text messages for that matter… anyways a tax advocate is someone that can help you get your refund faster if you have a hardship and are in serious need of your money. Sometimes they require proof of hardship and sometimes they don’t, depends on who you get. A tax advocate can help or hinder the situation, it just depends on how close you were to being finished before the TA stepped in.
Hey :-) no updates here, hoping for one tomorrow on transcripts tho…
@chattycathy- usually they will dd if you filed the 8379 with your taxes, if you mailed it after filing, or if you get a tax advocate they usually mail it. If you get a tax advocate they will give you the option of getting a check in the mail, or waiting another 2-3 weeks for the dd, so most choose the check.
@elizabeth- I was able to view my transcripts today, and I have never had any trouble getting into them at all, so maybe you not being able to view them is a good sign? Crossing my fingers for you good luck!
Hi @chattycathy you and I have the exact same dates …when did you file? Unfortunately no refund for me yet but I did talk with an IRS agent that said my return has been with an IS agent since the 13th. Hopefully we get an update on transcripts this friday..fingers and toes crossed :-)
@ashley so there’s a guy @ray that is the transcript man who says they usually update on Fridays, but there are a few that update daily, and biweekly as well. Of course I’m not telling you to stop checking your transcripts, however often you check them is completely up to you, I’m just passing on the info. Hope that helps.. :-)
Happy Tuesday y’all :-) I broke down and called IRShove n’ stuff today..my dad peer pressured me with his anti tax man antics..anyways found out my return has been with the injured spouse department and assigned to an individual since the 13th. Tried to see if anybody on home page had heard of someone that had experience with this but was not very successful. I would be willing to bet there are others on here that have been assigned to someone too, but are still just being given the 11week run around when they call. Either way lets just hope we hear something soon..I’ll let you guys know if I get any updates.
Phone number for IRS rep- 1800-829-0582 extension 632. Just saw one of the mods give this number for anyone having trouble getting thru with other phone numbers.
Ok apparently that guy didn’t answer any questions from anyone so not so sure if he can help..maybe he will come back later..
Hey guys if you get this in time you might be able to catch this guy on the home tab in the general chat area- I’m copying and pasting his comment

Hi Everyone,One of my clients who is having a refund problem told me about this site and the many challenges everyone is having. Feel free to post your questions and I will do my best to provide you with some insight.

Former IRS OfficerJust curious who did you all file with? I filed with turbo tax- and their form 8379 wasn’t ready until 2/6..which was weird considering most other tax firms had theirs..
Yeah I’ve noticed that a lot more of the people that filed on or after 2/1 are getting dd’s- hope you all see something soon.
I saw that @chaddox- maybe your a biweekly updater? Wish they would provide us with some kind of status updates-as our return is worked-in a dream world. The one good thing I see is lots of people are getting them quick this year..last year there were a few here and there getting them within 6-8 weeks and it was heart breaking..it will come..you’re over half way there…atleast we aren’t in the 2nd week of February wishing for April to be here haha..
@elizabeth- Yeah it’s important. When you file IS a human bring has to work your return. Once they finish it’s cycled thru and posts to master file and a ddd is generated, unless you mail in your IS form or get a TA in which case your check will be mailed. I wish I could give you a concrete answer on how these dates work, but IS is a horse of a different color. I’ve yet to find a pattern or order to how they work the cases- the truth is in the fine print- you may have to wait up to 11 weeks or in some cases longer- and coming to terms with that is hard for those that have plans for their return, and a lot harder for those in financial distress. Everyday that goes by you get a little closer to your return-every time I even think about stressing about all this I think to myself what if injured spouse weren’t an option? Happy Monday
Congrats @james…no updates for me this morning my 21 days from my 570 code date is up today so I’m looking for some kind of update by friday. Also, there are people whose transcripts update daily , and even biweekly, but in most cases they update on Fridays, if you do a little research this website has a lot of information to offer on transcripts, codes, dates and more. Check out the tabs at the top of the page under contacts you will find phone numbers and websites that are extremely helpful, for those of you that are new to IGMR.
@elizabeth you need to look at account transcripts
-morning …I just copied and pasted this to give you all some info on as of dates- this is from Mary a moderator here at IGMR. Still no update for me yet. Enjoy your Saturday-do something fun…free.
**************Sticky Note*****************
AS OF reflects the “current through” or “effective” date. Any activity which occurs on the transcript must be logged; once logged, the date updates. If no activity occurs but an examination or review is active, the AS OF date still changes (as it is considered to be activity). If the AS OF date does not change, we assume that there is no further processing that is actively occurring. This can mean one of two things; the IRS is awaiting documentation to substantiate a claim, or the updates have yet to post (glitch). Refunds CAN be issued regardless if the date is current or not, future or past.
End of sticky note.
hey, im what the bleep :) -filed and accepted on 2/7-(turbo tax didn’t have form ready by 1/31, so we waited)
a week later processing message came up on WMR-hasn’t changed since-
-account transcripts- cycle date 20140705, 570 date is 3-3, and my as of date went from 3/17 then a week later to 3/24, and another week later to 3/31 -hasn’t moved since. I haven’t made any calls to IRShovenstuff and don’t plan to, not that anyone else shouldn’t, it just hasn’t proven to be of any help in the past, going to wait it out and check for updates from you all. never seen an update on WMR, even after receiving my refund in the past, but others have so im not gonna lose hope. @Kristin-@ray the transcript guy says that transcripts update on Fridays-super amazing guy that is taking time out of his life to ease the minds of people anxiously awaiting financial relief-just saying. I will update if changes occur-Good luck everyone.Thank you @purple33!
@purple33 since you had a successful TA experience would you mind giving everyone a recap of your stories process including your dates and correspondence between you and your TA? I think it might be of great help to those that don’t really know how the TA process CAN go.
That’s awesome @purple33 congratulations!
Actually i think it’s technically the third paragraph..either way it’s the one that starts with “However, there are exceptions to the policy” :-)
The very last sentence..
Check out the 7th paragraph where it talks about exception to policy..
Hey good morning @katmill! Happy Tuesday I hope you are well :-) i am good , I have been trying to find out more info for folks with TA’s, but it’s pretty hit or miss..some people see rapid results due to a diligent hardworking TA, and some see and hear nothing for weeks…this is no news to you all :( I did however find something that may help those of you trying to get a TA but get turned away because you don’t have a hardship…see if you interpret this the same way I do and let me know what you think http://www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov//userfiles/file/TAS_change_case_criteria_6_12_12.pdf
That’s great news @maximo2 congratulations!
@brokeandfrustrated I’m so sorry. There are really no words. I’m very sorry for the situation you are in. I’m praying for you.
It doesn’t start until 9 here..I’m on the east coast :-) holy crappy TA! I bet you get the rest in a week or two, if your TA doesn’t call you back I would call first thing tomorrow and ask for her supervisor. I’ll see what I can find out about partial refunds involving injured spouses using TA’s and ill let you know what I discover enjoy the show..if you have a bottle of red wine in the back of the cupboard grab it and celebrate your 1/4 refund..if not me and my friend will have a glass for you :) enjoy the show!
Well she is actually sitting here with me! ( we are having a girls night and watching the season finale of The Following) anyways, she said no it didn’t state that it was a portion it only stated that final review was still in progress and her TA actually confirmed for her that it was only part and she would receive the rest later.
@irstressing is it possible that they are going to send the rest later after full review is finished, or does the letter stating changes confirm that is all you will be receiving? The reason I ask is because I had a friend that filed injured spouse last year, she got a TA and the IRS released enough money to help her with her hardship and once they finished complete processing about 3 weeks later, they sent her the rest. I’m glad you at least got enough for rent congrats :-)
Thanks guys, you’re so awesome even though I know you are totally pi$$ed at the IRS :-) i am going to be doing nothing but free stuff every weekend until hubby gets home, we are saving up to take a lovely trip somewhere far away from “reality” , and the Army lol. WT heck is going on with these TA’s? If it were me and they weren’t calling me back, I would call the TA main office and literally refuse to hang up until someone helped me. Maybe it will freak them out enough to get you a supervisor and maybe she/he will be freaked out enough to take action. Something I also saw this weekend was that people are going to the White House website and sending letters to the President…just some food for thought. I hope you all have a happy Monday, and I hope the IRS has a productive Monday.
Hi @sahm2my4 thanks for sharing, and welcome to our group.I have seen a few people who have gotten a dd in less than a week after a referral was put in, so I hope that is the case for you as well.
Hi @mylij831 if your husband was the only income, and you DO NOT live in a community property state, and the offset is yours, then yes you should receive the entire refund. You can google the community property states, but I believe they are Louisiana, Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Wisconsin might have forgotten one so please look it up to be sure good luck to you :-)
Morning, I was hoping you all would wake up to good news this morning. Good luck @katmill
Well said @irstressing wish I could send you guys a pic of the beautiful beach I’m laying on for FREE, refund or no refund, free fun is always the best fun. Happy Saturday you guys are in my prayers.
Congratulations @saros!
Hey @waiting13 yes that’s a good sign people usually see that message a few days before dd let us know how it goes!
I know it sucks guys but Just remember to take a deep breath, it’s just a bad day(s) not a bad life :-) and the da$n IRS WILL get your money to you, the only question is WHEN!
So sorry @irstressing :( I had high hopes for you getting yours pretty quick since you mailed it in hopefully you see something soon
Hey that’s great news @katmill2369..about the acceptance date, not your TA.. :-) lets hope he is right. @brokeandfrustrated, maybe she is working on your case and doesn’t want to call until she has answers for you? Didnt someone say they got some answers by calling their TA’s supervisor? Or maybe that was on a different forum. Either way i know you can call the TA 800 number and ask to speak with your TA’s boss and they should be able to help.
Thanks for the update @s_m
That’s awesome @purple33 congratulations :-) !
I don’t know what the deal is with WMR. It updates for some and not others? So many mysteries behind the IRShovenstuff.
I also forgot to mention that I believe your cycle date will only change once it processes the final time through IMF. So like in @maximo2 I don’t know, but I bet his cycle date was something like 20130605 or anything smaller before it changed to 20131105..but these are just my opinions..nothing else :-)
code 150 is just your withholding-Code 570 is a freeze code BUT its normal and it’s only released when your money is released to your bank..in other words you want that code there it doesn’t keep you from your money, actually it protects your money from being offset..unless you don’t need the injured spouse form, in which case you can call to have it removed as @j33 did.
So I guess you got the gist about the cycle dates…we don’t know what they mean , and we don’t know if they start jan 30 or jan 1… Irs says we don’t need to know..yeah ok TAXMAN!…anyways your date if we start from jan 30 is march 21, 2013.. From jan 1 it’s feb 19, 2013. I’m going to tell you what I’ve been thinking but only take this with a grain of salt because I’m no tax expert, I’m thinking the cycle date is the last time your return was “cycled” through the IMF system. I think it only tracks processing through IMF and IMF alone. The other processing date march 4, represents the day that your return was picked up by a person in the injured spouse department and began the manual process to calculate what you should receive. The midlle 3 digits in the number under code 150 are your Jillian date. For this you will calculate 440-365= 75 which if you count 75 days from jan 30, you get April 15, which in a theory I recently found means the IRS has until march 6, to get you your refund if they stay inside the 21 day window allotted for normal refund processing, which is what you enter once your Jillian date is up if you e-filed you form 8379, if you mailed it in then then your Jillian date is probably much higher…please do not base any financial decisions on this or think in any way that what I am saying is absolute truth these are just my opinions, and mine alone , nothing more and nothing less. I hope some of this makes sense to you..
Sorry forgot to post the link … http://www.irs.gov/pub//irs-pia/imf_pia.pdf
IMF stands for Individual Master File
IRS – After the initial filing of the tax return, any changes or updates (adjustments) to a taxpayer account, whether initiated by the taxpayer or the IRS, is submitted as a transaction to post to the master file so that the file reflects a continuously updated and current record of each taxpayer’s account-
Here’s some info to check out just talks about IMF
I’m reposting this so you have a reference @tiredofwaiting99
IMF processing will be daily except on weekends. Some transactions post to IMF on a daily basis as opposed to during the weekly cycle.
Note:
In January 2012 with CADE 2 Transition State 1 implementation, IMF began processing and posting all Individual Taxpayer submissions and transactions and remain the system of record.
IMF Cycle Date is a daily cycle designated by an eight digit number indicating the year, the two digit cycle number and the two digit number indicating the day of the week (YYYYWWDD). The following values for DD are defined:
01 = Friday
02 = Monday
03 = Tuesday
04 = Wednesday
05 = Thursday
This date is the equivalent of the Cycle Date in IDRS and reflects the date the transaction is posted by IMF. See Exhibit 3.30.123-2, Enterprise Computing Center-MTB Posting Cycle Calendar.
Example:
IMF daily transactions directed to daily accounts input in the campus on Monday, August 12, 2013 will have a posting cycle of 20133302.http://www.irs.gov/irm/part3/irm_03-030-123r.html
Let us know what yours is @tiredofwaiting99 and we will discuss it between all of us so you can get multiple answers..the more the merrier :-)
@tiredofwaitiing99 I wish I could give a definitive answer about the cycle dates, but all we have are mixed answers from people at the irs and opinions of those that don’t. Some say it starts jan1st and it is only the day your return was received, but I have seen several cases where this is impossible and the math does not work..for example @maximo2 accepted 2/14 but cycle date is 20131105.. Which proves that theory completely wrong..others say it starts as of jan 30- so if yours was 20131005 it would be 10 weeks from jan 30 and 05 means thurs. what they represent no one knows for sure? It has to mean something, but I have been told its only for irs use and are of no use to us….sorry so long :-)
I did receive mine before the 11 weeks @tiredofwaiting99. I received mine 8 weeks 2 days after being accepted. Accepted 2/23, irs said started actual processing on 2/28 and then went to injured spouse dept on 3/18..got money 4/22. Maybe we should all post our dates again? It would probably help a lot of people so they don’t have to go back through all of the old posts?
And my cycle day was also on a Thursday..
Hmm that is pretty interesting..my 11 week mark would have been on a Thursday as well…
Woot woot congratulations @injured4life!!
That’s understandable @brokeandfrustrated I hope your TA proves @Saros wrong :-) let us know what you find out.
I couldn’t work there..I have a serious soft spot for people In need, and I’d be spending way too much time trying to help each person to the fullest extent..no joke..my husband says it’s my gift and my curse..I have a feeling they might see some rogue agents giving out info here soon, with the cuts coming…
@purple33 I think a lot of it boils down to the fact that injured spouse returns are the irs’s red headed stepchildren and the customer service agents can only do so much without getting chewed out by the actual injured spouse agents working the return. It sucks because I know of times that I called and I could tell the agent wanted to tell me more, but couldn’t kinda like the whispering lady that @buttons16 had who told her what her dd was…
I contacted my friend that works for IRShovenstuff guys, he said the alert was for individuals in Boston and its just an extension for those people and nothing else. Injured spouse is still looking at the normal 11 weeks
Holy crap that’s terrible news @tiredofwaiting99. 18-20 weeks?? That’s the first i have heard of any kind of alert on injured spouse returns. That’s pretty disturbing, I hope it’s not true.
@brokeandfrustrated did you check and see if your bank has a mobile app for your phone, you could pull your accounts up pretty quick that way too? Good luck you guys I’m going for a quick run while the sand gnats are at bay, but I’ll be back!
When does your bank normally do deposits? I know some people say the IRS deposits any day except Sundays, and at anytime, but I bank with USAA and our money no matter where it’s coming from if its a dd it hits between 6 and 7 am…that being said, if it were me and I had quick access to my checking throughout the day I would still check often, especially considering the TA’s comments. Either way Im just happy you have somebody going to bat for you, maybe give her another 24-48 hours and if nothing happens by friday call her.
Hey guys sorry you haven’t seen deposits yet..@brokeandfrustrated I don’t think they are required to give you any information once a TA is involved, but I have heard of a few ucky people with TA’s getting info from regular agents it just depends on the agent…what’s the worst they an do, tell you I can’t help call your TA?
Oh and as far as WMR that’s up in the air..I would call 8008291954 to check the status because WMR doesn’t update at all for some folks, and for some it does..
@billbilly I dunno if you saw it but @j33 responded to you they had a hold or freeze removed from their account and it took about 9 days for them to get a dd, but on another note you filed 2/23 so your 11 weeks will be up in “2-3 weeks” too..so it could be a stall tactic. Who knows? I think you will see something soon, but it wouldn’t hurt to call again today to see if someone can dig a little deeper for a dd… :-)
Me too @maximo2 please keep us updated I’m crossing fingers and toes :-)
Bahahaha I know @pamela79..don’t judge me lol!
And the reason I subtracted your 21 days is because you paper filed your injured spouse form so you don’t have to wait for the system to generate a dd…I dunno.. I have way too much time on my hands since my hubby is deployed.. :-) I’m sure there are a lot of people this formula makes absolutely no sense for, but when I found it i couldn’t resist comparing the numbers with you all
That’s true but something kinda cool..if you subtract 472-365=107 and then subtract the 21 days for normal processing..107-21=86… And 86 days from jan 30 is 4/26… :-) i know it’s crazy I just like trying to figure this stuff out..not that I ever really will lol
@purple33 you have been awesome too :-) i hope we all meet here next year but under much better circumstances..like to tell eachother we got our refund back really fast…!!
