I just called for the first time and called the number @whatthebleep had suggested and pressed 00000 and had them transfer me to the Advanced Individual Accounts dept… at least that is the dept I asked for. I talked to a lady who did not help me one bit. She basically said the average time is 9 weeks or something. 9 weeks from what date… the filing date… the acceptance date… what? Geez… I dont understand why they can be so rude and keep their jobs. I guess I will start calling daily as well. I just want an estimated date. We’re expecting a baby in 3 weeks and our refund would be nice to have.
AnonymousWell…got the 11 weeks BS. The lady was super nice bud said that we won’t even reach the 11 weeks until May 9th? WTF? I so don’t understand anything about the dates this year. Called a TA, he said he for sure saw that the IS dept got our stuff on 2/18 so refund no later than May 1st…..so….I have no idea. LOL. Goodluck to everyone else today.
AnonymousThis is our 3rd year filing IS. Each of the previous 2 years it has taken the full 11 weeks. This year is a bonus however. We passed 11 weeks on Friday and after calling the IRS last night, her bounty of information was, “It’s still processing. Call back if you haven’t received it by the end of April”. Also WMR hasn’t moved from “our tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.” in 2 months.
Not necessarily @lisa120484 the code I’m referring to is on the account transcript and you can order it by clicking on the green contact tab at the top if this page, but your probably just better ff calling FMS to see if they have received any of your refund yet. Their number is on the contact tab as well.
AnonymousA return transcript. Should I be looking at an account transcript?
@lisa120484 are you looking at an account transcript or a return transcript?
Anonymous@whatthebleep where do you see the code on the transcript? I just have the hard copy of the transcript that I ordered via mail. Is there an updated transcript you can look at online?
AnonymousThe lady in account management was really nice. She took my information and referred me to a TA, who will contact me within 7 days. So more waiting. *sigh* And there is no guarantee the TA can help. She could not give me the amount of my refund after the offset, she didn’t have that information, but said there were no problems with our return and everything is processing normally. She also gave me the standard “injured spouse takes up to 11 weeks,” and that would put us at getting our refund by May 16th. I told her there is no way we can wait that long. Behind on our car payment and they want their money soon and we only have the one car. She was puzzled why the lady in the TA dept. transferred me and didn’t go ahead and take my information and get things started. I told her I was puzzled by that too. Oh well, it’s the IRS…nothing they do surprises me anymore.
Good luck @katmill2369 welcome to the group – I’m going out for a quick run but when I get back ill be calling the IRS ill let you guys know what I find out (yes I call almost everyday).. Don’t judge me :-)
Hey just to let everybody know something i do know about transcripts for injured spouse claims-if you look on your account transcript at the codes on the bottom- if you ave code 570 that means there is a freeze on your money and it will usually say additional account action pending- this means your refund is still sitting in the system “processing” (ridiculous) when you order transcripts and that code is gone your money is about to be released or has already. That’s one fact I have been able to substantiate in this debacle, and I just wanted to share.
AnonymousHi all! I’ve been stalking for awhile (creepy I know)! I was a participant last year and was trying so very hard to be patient this year as we have had to file IS for 3 years now but UGH it’s getting ridiculous. So, here’s my story. E-filed on 1/30, accepted on 1/31 except we had damn education credits so not really accepted until 2/14 I guess? WMR changed about 2 weeks after that and then NOTHING. Started calling around the end of March and been getting the usual 11 week run around, as well as a different date from every rep we talk to. They have been unusually rude this year as well. Some tell me to count the 11 weeks from when we originally filed, some from the 2/14 date, some from 3/11? So I have no idea what’s going on. My hubs is a police academy student and I’m at home with the kids so needless to say we need the $$ as badly as anyone else…..I’m currently on hold with the “advanced individual account dept” thanks to whatthebleeps great tip!!! Hopefully I will get some answers and will be able to update with good news. So, 11 weeks THIS week if we count from the original file date and 9 weeks from the education credits acceptance date…..ugh. Stupid IRS. Thanks for listening to the whine guys!!
Good luck @brokeandfrustrated hope you get good news
@lisa120484 call them at the 8008291040 number, I gave up on trying to understand transcripts weeks ago. When you call choose one for English, wait for the next set of options and press 00000, it will say ” I’m sorry we couldn’t understand your request please wait while we transfer you” when the operator picks up ask for advanced individual accounts. They should be able to update you on your progress.
AnonymousWell I called the tax advocate line and explained our situation and hardship, and she transferred me to account management. Ugh!! Now on hold….
AnonymousCorrection: I mean “received our tax info… not our refund.”
AnonymousGood morning everyone!
No change in our status either… have not heard a word from the IRS. We e-filed on 2/21 with the IS form, so it will be 8 weeks tomorrow since we filed. I don’t remember when it was actually accepted through the IRS as I didnt keep notes… I should have though. I did order our transcripts, but it doesnt give much information. On the “Received” line… should that be the date that they received the refund? Because ours says 4/15, which is odd I think. But who knows, I reallyd ont know what I am looking at there.
Should I call the IRS and see what they say? I havent called at all yet as I was trying to be patient and wait out the 11 weeks. Our offset is due to my husband’s overpayment from the VA for the GI Bill. Maybe that’s why it’s taking so long?
Morning @purple33 and everyone else still no changes here on my end
AnonymousHows everyone today?
Anonymous@whatthebleep That is a good thing your WMR changed, hopefully get DDD by Thursday. I still have not seen any change on my WMR. My funds were unfrozen on 4/10 but still no update. My return was forward to IS department on 2/25. Hopefully we will see a DDD this week.
@j33 whats going on with your release? Did you try calling today?
@j33 my WMR changed to the received processing message this morning, but no dd yet filed 2/23 accepted 2/23 started processing 2/28 went through normal processing and was assigned to someone injured spouse dept on march 18, which is the processing date it shows on my transcript by the way, from there it usually takes 4-6 weeks to see a dd- if your return had no other issues- I did my taxes myself on turbotax as I do every year.
Anonymous@whatthebleep Have you received any updates on your DDD? I know they told you that you would have a DDD this week.
@Purple33 Just glad we have a website where we can all help each other out, just saw you got an advocate I’m glad things are looking up for you too hopefully you see some fast results
AnonymousBy the way thank you @whatthebleep for all your support.
AnonymousCool! Congrats, @buttons16!
Woot woot! Congratulations @buttons16!
Anonymoussuper quiet lady said DD date of the 18th! so Thursday!
Anonymousgot someone and they are super quiet!!! its so hard to hear!!!
@bahahaha!
Anonymousthe guy who answered said they have multiple injured spouse departments lol and which one…what a special person lol
AnonymousI just got done talking with an IRS advocate, since we are in financial difficulties right now. She was really nice and she is getting my account expedited. I am so thankful. Thank you everyone for all the great information. Hopefully this will help. If anyone else has real bad problems call the advocate line they are really helpful. Their number is 1-877-777-4778 or TTY/TTD: 1-800-829-4059. Call they have been so helpful so far.
The department you get transferred to is actually called advanced individual accounts if you want to ask the operator to connect you to that instead of saying injured spouse. They are the dept that deals with injured spouse claims as well as a few others.
I know honey we are right there with you, no worries :-)
AnonymousI should have thought of that myself lol I used to work in a call center and that’s always what I told people to do when they wanted to speak to someone lol…yeah long day so far
@buttons16 call the 8008291040 number again after you press one for English and it starts giving you the next set of options pres 00000 wait for it to say please wait while we transfer you, when the operator picks up ask for the injured spouse department.
Anonymousso I called both numbers ( 800-304-3107 and 800-829-1040) and got nothing useful from either of them. the lady on the 3107 number said that she couldn’t tell me anything about my offset or my IS form and the 1040 number just gave me automated responses…I just would like to know when my release date it, if its available! gah
Anonymous@maximo2 hang in there. I am waiting with you. I am already at 8 weeks and I am still waiting. @brokeandfrustrated hang in there too. We are strapped for cash too. From now on I am not filing an injured spouse form until they send a letter. Also I now would rather owe the IRS rather than have the IRS owe us. It’s so stupid. All the people I have spoke with from the IRS have no answers except that I have to wait till May the 4th to the 8th to finish processing the paperwork. WHY? It isn’t rocket science… SIGH.
AnonymousFound out today why my form didnt go thru, it wasnt processed correctly the agent that sent it off forgot to include my 10 number id. So when they had the DD ready they had no clue who to send it to, he is resubmitting it in the morning he says…..hopefully two week wait and not another 8.
AnonymousIs anyone else having problems seeing all the other postings?
AnonymousHi im wondering if after you were offset and you send in the is form if wmr will change. Im usually very good about keeping notes. Im not even sure when i sent the form out. It still shows the offset information. Being that its worst time to call right now ill wait bit more. Havent gotten a thing in the mail. Thanks
AnonymousHello all, I have been working in a Pvt Ltd company since last 2 years and I am bound to wear my work place uniform. I have to take care and maintain my uniform bu my own. I have recently heard about Uniform Tax rebate and I came to know that I can have the tax benefit of maintaining work place uniform.
Can anyone please tell me what is the procedure to file for Uniform tax rebate?AnonymousI wonder if u have to tell them and confirm for them to dd vs issueing a paper check, i reading mixed responses
AnonymousI am still waiting for them to fix the codes on my approved form….this is getting crazy, estimated 16 weeks total at this point after filing the form.
AnonymousWell I have been monitoring this forum for about the last month. I filed my taxes back on 2/1 and was accepted 2/2 the Irs however has me being accepted 2/5. I can’t seem to get anything but the same old 11week spill. This is my third time filing as an injured spouse I never really counted the days. This year has been super tough financially on my family so I am on edge as to when we will receive our $$. I see some that have filed after me yet they say they have received there DD.
@brokeandfrustrated that’s how she said it “could” go, but that doesn’t mean everyone will have to wait that long I hope. She said that they have had cases where it has taken 3-10 days after deposit date for people to actually have money in hand, so she wanted me to be prepared in case it happens to me. I don’t know the reason behind it, and she could only tell me it was to do with their deposit system. I bank with USAA so I’m not too worried about any issues on my end. I am also extremely flustered by all of the IRS’s huge failures at communication, and disorganization, and I’m a pretty easy going gal :-) the way I have looked at it is this : it is what it is. No matter what I do, they are going to do what they do, and my money is going to be released when they release it. A TA is out of the question for me because I’m not financially struggling,so all I can do is hope that someone there is doing their job. For all of you out there that do rely on this refund to balance your budget, you are not alone we have all been there and that’s why we come back to this site over and over because two minds are better than one, and the more knowledge we share the more informed we are on what lies ahead.
Anonymous@whatthebleep…you mean that even after we are given a DD that we may still have to wait 3-10 days past that date to get our money? I thought that the money is supposed to go into our account on the exact DD that they give us….It is so wrong how IRS jerks us all around. I know one thing, after going though the long wait this year I will think twice before filing an injured spouse form again.
AnonymousI am still waiting for my refund has anyone got theirs this week?
Hey @maximo2 sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I also filed wit TT, and I just talked with the irs actually and they said I should get my dd this week, but they said that it could take anywhere from 3-10 days after my deposit date to actually receive the funds in my bank. I’m hoping that applies to you too, and that you will receive funds this week. The rep I had was extremely helpful and nice I’m assuming because calls have slowed down, so if I were you I would call again oh and I also only waited on hold for 7 minutes.
Anonymouswhatthebleep. I filed with TT but mailed in IS form and they received it 2/7. They have been telling me for the last month that refund is there just waiting for DD but ITS BEEN SITTING THERE FOR A MONTH. I’m starting to think it somehow got forgotten by their system, but I’m scared to ask for a release of funds cause they say that can take up to 30 days which may delay longer. But I’ll probably hear the same thing when my 1-2 weeks is up. Do you call IRS, what have they told you?
Haha that’s what opened to me too! :-)
@brokeandfrustrated I was at first so I went to the home page, clicked on forums, and then chose the injured spose forum, and then I clicked on page 2…hopefully that helps, I also chose the notify me of follow up replies via email option below so I don’t miss any updates in case the page goes down :-) but if you want to email admin they are pretty awesome about fixing any errors :-)
AnonymousNever mind, after I posted my question, then I could see the rest of the posts. Anyway, no change for me on WMR, was really hoping and praying to see a DD this morning. I have read on other sites that a few people that filed around when I did are getting a DD for this week. Please Lord, we need our money badly. Praying that everyone gets good news soon. :)
AnonymousAnyone having trouble seeing all the posts on this forum?
@buttons16 that’s good news usually the WMR changes to that message right before a deposit..also I saw someone on the turbotax community that filed 2/22 also, and they got a dd of 4/17 so hopefully you get one too!
@maximo2 I’m sorry to hear that. I really hope you see something before the end of this week. Who did you file with?
AnonymousUpdate, still nothing. Accepted 1/31. Told a few weeks ago check would be issued 4/9, then told DD by 4/15. Still nothing. Just called “well its sitting there ready for DD but hasn’t been through that part of the system yet, should definitly have it in 1-2 weeks” what BS. Any injured spouse people got theirs yet?
AnonymousI’ve been looking and reading posts on this site for a few days now and I am happy to see that I’m not alone. Yes, it does suck that we have to wait but at least its not just me! Here’s my story: I filed and was accepted 2/22 (Friday) with the injured spouse form through TurboTax. I have been looking every day at WMR and it changed about 2 weeks after I filed to “its being processed and you’ll get a refund date when available” blah blah blah. I went online today and checked WMR and the status has changed to “we have received your refund and it is being processed”. What I’m hoping is that, based on others experiences via reading this forum, that my family will get our refund within this week. I’ll keep you posted! Fingers crossed!
AnonymousI still haven’t got my refund. They are telling me May the 4th. I got my transcripts and it says that they finally processed our refund on March the 11th, but they got the return on February 16th. I am so upset right now. I am so upset to about how the IRS personnel or so rude and inconsiderate. Wow… Good luck to all of you.
AnonymousI’m waiting with you all…I filed and was accepted 3/14/13, efiled through H&R. Got orange bar thingy that they received but the last week and half it changed to no bar, just a message: Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.” Did call in to many phone # and finally spoke to an actual live person…told me that they received my return & it’s been assigned to someone for processing. Status: well, told could take to the end of May to complete a return w/IS attached. Our tax dollars at work…they can take our money faster but that can’t process it due to bureaucratic BS (debt ceiling, fiscal crisis, etc) We’re basically paying for them to all sit in DC with their finger in their butts. We’re in the wrong line of employment…
April 12, 2013 at 6:14 am in reply to: IRS LTR 4883C, Potential Identify Theft in Original Processing #18014Anonymous-Verified 3/1 4883c told to wait 4-6 weeks (6 weeks ends on 4/12)
-Called almost every single day…always told I was still processing
-No bars, status stayed at Your tax return is still being processed.A refund date will be provided when available
-4/11 status changed to we have received your return and it is being processed
-4/12 bars came back,DDD of 4/16still nothing for me
Anonymous@irstressing- I called the main #1-800-829-1040 and asked for insured spouse department. I was asked if I already filed and I said yest that I had questions on the status of return.
AnonymousWell, a lot more happened yesterday after I spoke with the offset office. We found out that our house is now being condemned, so thankfully the FB group was able to tell me about tax advocates. I called them, and was informed not only did we have an offset with the Department of Education, but now the IRS is saying that we owe $2800 is back taxes from 2008, which is ridiculous. I called the IRS and was able to straighten it out, but so thankful to the advocates, because otherwise I would never have known. Plus, they are working on an expedition of our refund for hardship, since we will have no place to live in 2 weeks. I definitely recommend them if you have an imminent problem and you need your refund to get to you faster. My plan had been to wait it out, unfortunately that is no longer an option…
Anonymouscalled 800-304-3107 (thanks aoldenburg83) pressed 1 for english, pressed 2 then option 5 in order to speak to someone live-took me all of 30 seconds so no wait this morning! this is the offset dept…unfortunately thay had not received anything from me yet :( so i guess i’m still stuck in the ‘processing’ limbo…good to have this info-a huge thanks to everyone who shared
Anonymous@aoldenburg , what number did you call to actually speak to someone at the offset office?
Nevermind, I see the above post now. Thanks.
AnonymousYes the Taxpayer Advocate Service is an organization which is build to help people in resolving their tax related problems. They can handle any type of issue related to tax. Moreover it provides free and confidential service to taxpayers who need any type of help resolving IRS problems that they have not been able to resolve by their own.
Anonymous@charbelle, the number I called is 800-304-3107, I remember calling a couple of times to get the right combination to speak to a person, but I did get through.
Anonymous@j33 Can you tell me what number you called? You must be happy to know it’s on its way! I sure would be. :)
AnonymousUPDATE :I called IRS again today to try to get more information, I was told that I needed to wait till beginning of May for my 1th week . I was accepted 1/24 , I had education credits so waited till 2/14. I was told that my return went to IS department on 2/25 and I had to wait 11 weeks from 2/25. He said if I did not have my refund by then to call back and ask for a TA . He did say my return is still being proceeded, since I do not need the injured spouse I asked him if there was anything I can do. He then just told me to hold and reviewed my account and he took the time to take off the freeze off my account, he told me to hold on the line till he finished unfreezing my funds. He then told me I was all set. I have called 4 other times since I filed to let the IRS know I did not need the form and they all told me I had to wait it out and there was nothing I could do. I did ask to speak to the inured spouse line and when representative came on line the first thing he asked if I filed injured spouse claim. So I’m guessing only the injured spouse department can remove form since this is the only time I asked to speak to someone in insured spouse department. Does anyone knowhow long it would take after they unfreeze funds to get DDD? I forgot to ask I was just so happy that he removed form.
Anonymouswhat number do i call to get the offset dept? i called the number listed under the contacts tab-it was automated & i was told yes we see two offsets (my student loans)….well yeah i know i have them that’s why i filed IS…..in any case is there a number for the offset or IS dept where i can speak to a live rep?? i would like to know if they have already disbursed funds thata-way…. :)
But I still have high hopes for you @8fullinches!
Sorry @8fullinches that last comment was meant for @maximo2 :-)
Anonymous@whatthebleep ,thx for the good news(opinion) ,hope so.
@8fullinches I bet you have a deposit before the 15th…we will see :-)!
Anonymous@whatthebleep, yes it sounds like good news but i wanted to ask her if thats the day the check will be mailed out and or deposited or is that 2week window just an estimate when the form will be finished for review.. still wondering,i guess ill have to call back in two weeks
