key tax return and refund dates
When can you file your taxes?
You can submit your tax return before the IRS begins processing as early as the first week of the year with many tax preparation providers. You don’t need to wait until the IRS begins accepting tax returns but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January. Tax returns filed before the IRS officially opens sit in a “queue” and are held until the IRS officially begins accepting tax returns.
Your tax return may be selected in a test batch. If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early. This can result in early direct deposits depending on the payment provider you select. Our cycle chart will update with key dates including test batch dates.
When does the IRS accept tax returns?
The IRS usually opens around the third week of January each year. They announce the opening date early in January.
The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on January 26, 2026.
When is the IRS test batch?
If you file your tax return early, it may be sent to the IRS in a test batch before the IRS has officially opened for the year. It is usually a week before the date the IRS begins accepting tax returns. This has resulted in refunds in the past that can be posted by direct deposit as early as the day after tax season opens.
When will I get my tax refund?
Early filers whose returns are accepted in a test batch can anticipate a tax refund as early as the day after the IRS opens the January filing season if your return was in the test batch. The day that the IRS deposits refunds varies for regular returns but we notice trends based on the method you chose to file and select to direct deposit. You can use our tax refund calendar or refund cycle chart to help find out when you will get your tax refund.
Where is the IRS refund cycle chart?
The IRS no longer publishes an official tax refund cycle chart. It has been eliminated and replaced with IRS FAQ. Since then, dozens of versions have popped up, some better than others.
That’s where we step in.
Get the dates, skip the guessing.
Each year, we compile the most accurate Refund Cycle Chart, built from IRS manuals, payout trends, PATH Act release dates, holidays, and real user updates, so you don’t have to guess when your refund will hit.
Check the IGMR Refund Cycle Chart and see when your money’s coming.

@EmilyM: The IRS website has been like that going on 2 weeks or more. A lot of people’s transcripts are like that. Even my people. So don’t worry it should change. If it don’t check wheres my refund Saturday

@Beenpatientallmylifetillnow:

Her transcripts are blank with all zeros.
Some people on Facebook group have had the same codes and updated today, so pray you and my day update later today.
I receive a 570 and then a 971 with a letter saying there was nothing for me to do my return was being verified. But we are on week 4 with 971 how long does this take 🙄
@texasmomof3: im stuck on 570 which i verified 2 months ago and recieved 810 a week later. The only thing that has been changing is my as of date. All my wages have been filled in so idk what is goin on
@texasmomof3: 3/30
Last time it changed was last week
@Beenpatientallmylifetillnow:
What is your as of date?
My as of date hasn’t even changed today, Im so irritated. I’ve never waited this long for my money. No letter no nothing
I filed 3/9 and was accepted 3/9. It’s now 18 days, still blank transcript and WMR hasn’t moved. I used TuebiTax and paid for 5 day early access to funds.
What seems to be the typical timeframe this year? I dont expect 21 days at this point.
@Shellysgirl1968: Congratulations yall, no you will not how to wait until 4/13, your wmr should update Saturday when a direct deposit date of 4/1 I Believe.
@Shellysgirl1968: idk??
@Marib: do we have to wait until 04/13?
@Shellysgirl1968: mine says same. Finally an 846!
If I got my 846 and it says refund issued 04/13, does that mean it was issued already or not til 04/13?0
@Number: when you call push 1, 3,1,3 2 and you will get a live agent.
I cant get through to speak with a human. I tried searching here where, it shows what to do but doesn’t go through maybe its outdated. I tried pressing the 000000 and no luck. Please let me know how it’s possible TY!
Filed and accepted 3/9, blank transcripts since 3/16. Only thing changing is the as of date and now its 4/13/26
@bulldog88: yes, file03/05 and accepted same day. Account transcripts all zeros and an as of date of 04/06 just showed up this week even though I’m a weekly.

A direct deposit of your refund is scheduled to be issued on (MARCH 27, 2026) to the account you requested. If your refund is not credited to your account within 15 days of this date, check with your financial institution or tax preparer to find out if it has been received. See Direct deposit on our website.
anyone get a deposit yet
Hello,
I’m looking for some insight from anyone familiar with IRS audit reconsideration timelines and transcript updates.
I recently called the IRS and was told my audit reconsideration was completed on 3/18/2026. The representative confirmed my tax liability was reduced and that there is now a credit on my account, but she could not see the exact amount yet and advised me to wait for a notice.
Questions:
How long after an audit recon is marked “completed” does it typically take for transcripts to update?
Is it normal for a rep to see a credit but not the amount yet?
Does this mean my account is in a pending/posting phase before the refund is issued?
When should I realistically expect to see code 846 (refund issued)?
@I’m Confused: what did you want to know.
@I’m Confused: I guess no one can respond
Omg NYS is awful been waiting since 2/3 accepted on 2/4 finally this past Saturday it updated to your refund has been processed, and it’s a awaiting, a deposit date and then it went back to processing a little while ago. Unbelievable.
@Dollbaby127: Ok thank you. I guess I just have to wait. It’s not a “full audit” so hopefully it doesn’t take too long for then ti do the adjustments.
All that means is they have not processed it yet. I filed 3/9 and was accepted 3/9. Same thing. Just $0.00 all over with no codes.@Shellysgirl1968: @Shellysgirl1968:
@Bria2k26: Yes they always say 60 days but it don’t be. But after 30 days I would call again
Has anyone else had to deal with irs not accepting or rejecting after 24 hrs.?
Mine has always accepted or rejected within the hour of filling. I need to amend and can’t until it is accepted. What is the longest you’ve waited for it to be accepted
Filed 3/8
Accepted 3/9
Account transcript- no return filed
Return and record of transcript not showing anything for 2025
Anyone having the same problem with transcripts not showing?
During the process, they took my earned income credits and child tax credits which added to my balance for 2022. I filed and was accepted on 3/5/26. My transcripts updated last Friday on 2025 taxes showing my entire refund was credited out. On my 2022 transcript I can see it was credited in. But the earned income and child tax credits have not been added back for that year. I’m wondering how much longer will the reconsideration take. Has anybody been through this before or should I just wait this weekend to see if there’s another update before calling again?
Hello, I don’t know if anyone has my sane situation but I was hoping to get some tips on what to expect. I got a letter in December that I owed taxes from 2022 (a temp job I worked 3 months on) that was not filed as well as Uber and instacart. I was told by the irs to do a schedule C. I sent everything in back in Jan and was told my account would be under reconsideration. I was put in a hardship and none collectible status. From the beginning of February, I was told by another irs rep that they’ve just received my information and it could take 60 days to complete the reconsideration because they are short staffed.
570/971 still waiting! On my week 4 of waiting after verification! Just give me my money!
Hello everyone
Update, my son received his dd today around 3:30pm on his current card.
He had fee taken with TurboTax from refund and paid for the 5 days early feature, which was a waste of $35, because current card offers 5 days early for free.
Good luck to all still waiting.

This has been a wild year! Filed and accepted 2/26 and finally received full transcripts update this morning between 6am-10am with a 846 on 4/06. WMR still hasn’t updated and no refund as of yet. We went through TurboTax.
@Just Joi: Saturday you will see your date on wheres my refund.
@Tay25: oh wow! Thank you for the info! Congratulations 🎊 👏🏿
@Tay25: yay 😀 congratulations 🎊
My son still waiting for his dd, thank the lord it’s coming
@Catmommy2450: @texasmomof3: I got my deposit to my sofi account sometime in the last couple hours. No fees.
@Just Joi: I got the same date and got my dd this morning to my sofi account. No fees.
Good morning, y’all! I’ve been checking for updates. My transcripts just updated. Cycle code 20261105. So I’m weekly. But it’s showing an 846 code with date 4/06. Anybody know when my DD may deposit? WMR still has nothing.
@Shellysgirl1968: that just means nothing’s happened yet that they’ve just received your return and it’s being processed. You will have information and every fund most likely by the 26th of March.
Filed 3/5, accepted 3/5, fees from refund, today account transcript appeared but with all zeros and says as of 4/6. ?????
@texasmomof3: thanks, you too!
@Catmommy2450: sorry I’ve been responding to the wrong person. Lol. I’ve read 3 banking days which would be Wednesday but then saw a post where someone with the same 846 dates wmr updated to ddd of 3/23. If he has a no hold bank and no fees it could be anytime.
@Tay25: Okay, thanks, yeah 3/23 sounds about right, Congratulations 🎉
@texasmomof3: someone with the same 846 posted their wmr updated with a date of 3/23, so maybe Monday🤞
@texasmomof3: I have a NHB(sofi) with no fees. I’ll update when it deposits.
@texasmomof3: im not positive but I read 3 banking days from the day of the 846 so that would be Wednesday. If he has a NHB, it could be anytime.
@Tay25: exactly the same for my son, has 846 for 4/6
@Tay25: my son is the same so when will he get his refund
Accepted 2/19. Received letter and verified online on 3/9. Transcript just updated with 846 of 4/6. God is good!!! I’ll keep praying for all of you who are still waiting.
