When can you file your taxes?
You can submit your tax return before the IRS begins processing as early as the first week of the year with many tax preparation providers. You don’t need to wait until the IRS begins accepting tax returns but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January. Tax returns filed before the IRS officially opens sit in a “queue” and are held until the IRS officially begins accepting tax returns.
Your tax return may be selected in a test batch. If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early. This can result in early direct deposits depending on the payment provider you select. Our cycle chart will update with key dates including test batch dates.
When does the IRS accept tax returns?
The IRS usually opens around the third week of January each year. They announce the opening date early in January.
The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on January 26, 2026.
When is the IRS test batch?
If you file your tax return early, it may be sent to the IRS in a test batch before the IRS has officially opened for the year. It is usually a week before the date the IRS begins accepting tax returns. This has resulted in refunds in the past that can be posted by direct deposit as early as the day after tax season opens.
When will I get my tax refund?
Early filers whose returns are accepted in a test batch can anticipate a tax refund as early as the day after the IRS opens the January filing season if your return was in the test batch. The day that the IRS deposits refunds varies for regular returns but we notice trends based on the method you chose to file and select to direct deposit. WOWWWW! Fastest turn around ever! Checked yesterday and my 2025 transcripts weren’t even available. Check this morning and they are there with all good codes and the 846 code. I filed close to the PATH lift.
@losttttt: I’m an 0605 weekly and had no expectation to update until Friday. I woke up and something just told me to look not thinking would’ve changed, but it did. I updated to 846 this morning along with a ton of other weeklies. Idk if I’ll get my money today cuz the DDD is so far out but my fingers are crossed lol

I called sbtpg and it says a payment has been made and check with my financial institution but it doesn’t give a date of when it was deposit yet. So hopefully I will have it by Friday

I’m weekly 0605, always been weekly. Just got my 846. Never gotten it on a Thursday before. Hopefully that means money today for no hold banks!
@Sheila_33: revision to my question. So my as of date was 3/2/26 with the date next to 570 being the same. Now the as of date changed to 3/9/26 and the 570 shows 3/2/26. However when I look at transcripts for the last four years now all those four years show an as of date of 3/2/26…..any insight?
Deposited yesterday and my WMR still just says the PATH note and only one bar. What a useless site. Honestly only trust the transcripts.
Good morning everyone I have a quick question I’m a 505 cycle code so unfortunately later on tonight will be our update night so excited I live in Louisiana and received state refund first filed free tax USA so the took the fees from my state for filing my state first does this mean sbtpg will still hold my refund until ddd or will they go ahead and release since fees were already paid when they receive it
I’m an 05 daily got my 846 code and I’m an 05 daily. This is my second year being one. I haven’t deposit going to Cash App. Hopefully I get it tomorrow sometime. Michigan is so slow. I’m still waiting on my state refund. I filed 2/1 and accepted 2/1

This is really the first year I’ve seen transcripts update on Wednesday night Thursday morning for weeklies. So with no holds banks like cash we could see a deposit Friday/Saturday heck even today Idk

Morning good people. My cycle code 0405 and I did update yesterday to as of date of 03/02 but no 846. Still the same this morning. Maybe everybody updates later tonight or early in the morning. My transcripts have been filled in for dang near 2 weeks.
@Benita: my best guess is that you will have a 2/24 DDD, and the weeklies who update Friday morning will have the 2/25 DDD. But if you have a NHB (no hold bank), you will see it before your deposit date 😊
