Chase posted for me about 35 minutes ago (4:45pm, New Jersey).
I actually called them at 4:15 pm. That had nothing in their system – my account details or the backend – about any ACH transfer. They checked through Friday. But anyway, I’m happy.
I am not happy.
Still nothing on my Chase. I’m in NJ/NY.
Did anything update on Where’s My Refund or the TPG site for those of you that just got your direct deposit through Chase?
I also have Chase. I called them yesterday and they claimed that ACH deposits can post up until 11PM every weekday, but I don’t believe it. It’s always been 4AM, on the button.
No money in my account this morning.
To echo a lot of other people in this thread: This has never happened to me before. The only reason I even used SBTPG was because TurboTax was ludicrously priced this year. I likely will not be using either in the future.
Even if it’s just one day late, process and timing should improve for the customer year after year, not get worse.
No update for me on SBTPG. But I have Chase and I’m pretty certain they don’t take direct deposits after the wee hours of the morning.
Maybe SBBT is processing everything in batches based on recipient banks, so as to sensibly stagger it all out. No reason to complete mine early if I’m not even going to get it until the morning. Might as well prioritize other banks first.
Of course, that could be nonsense.
I mean, I’m having funds taken out and my refund issue date is tomorrow. SBTPG (same as SBBT, right?) hasn’t updated yet but I expect to get my funds tomorrow or Thursday.
February 5, 2019 at 10:52 am in reply to: Filed 1/27, Accepted 1/28, Transcripts this morning, but 1 bar? #4258385Hey all sorry for abandoning my own thread – thanks for the responses. I did, in fact, wake up to two bars on Saturday morning with a DDD of 2/6/19 (tomorrow), which matches the “Refund Issued” date on my transcript.
I have fees taken out by TT as I said before. I understand that SBTPG usually gets a notification 1-2 days before the IRS intends to release a refund to a taxpayer through SBTPG. Is there any way to check if that notification happened? SBTPG still doesn’t show my refund being available but I assume that site only updates when the refund actually hits their bank. Is that true? Should I expect to see anything on their site today or not until tomorrow?
I’m just hoping I get my DD to my bank tomorrow.
February 2, 2019 at 12:37 am in reply to: Filed 1/27, Accepted 1/28, Transcripts this morning, but 1 bar? #4255972Thanks, all. I’ll check in a few hours.
February 1, 2019 at 9:24 pm in reply to: Filed 1/27, Accepted 1/28, Transcripts this morning, but 1 bar? #4255887@Kimbers Wrong. Their official start date for accepting returns was 1/28, but they have been accepting some returns filed earlier to test the system. They do this before the official start every year.
Also yes please fix the title so it’s spelled correctly. Should be “If you get excepted paste here”
Filed in the wee hours of the morning of from Sunday to Monday morning. I tihnk it counted as filed on 1/27. Regardless, I was accepted yesterday. 1/28.
As of now, no movement, but based on experiences in past years, I expect to be approved by tomorrow (1/30) and get my DD by Tuesday (2/5). At least I hope so.
My taxes are pretty simple from a Federal perspective. The only new form for me is the HSA one.
I’m trying not to post here anymore because mine came through and I don’t want to add insult to injury for you all, but I cannot fathom why NJ is still taking this long for all of you. This is so messed up. I really hope you all get an update soon.
Sorry I haven’t been back for a few days. Just to address the question about stages: Mine initially started at stage 2 (Processing) and then skipped stage 3 and went streihht to stage 4.
I double checked this morning and my DDD is still tomorrow.
I wish you all a lot of luck. Unbelievable how slow this is this year.
@Jackie1
Thanks, and I’m sorry you haven’t gotten and update yet. :(
Mine updated – I got a DDD of 3/13
I was accepted on 1/24. Six weeks ago. This is crazy.
Still nothing.
Last year I got my refund on 3/7.
I just tried calling their non-automated customer service center and all I get is a recorded message saying “sorry but due to inclement weather conditions we are unable to take your call at this time” and then it hangs up.
New Jersey is unreal.
@rob Not sure but I created this thread on a Tuesday (Feb 20) which is when mine switched from “your information can’t be found” to “Processing.”
New Jersey just gets worse and worse every year.
No update for me yet, either. Really depressing.
I have mine set to deposit directly to my checking account.
I haven’t found any evidence of anyone anywhere getting any update from NJ past “Processing.”
I mean, I haven’t found a lot of people posting anywhere (including here) about their NJ tax refunds but even so…
Anyone get an update yet? This is very frustrating.
@LF
Nope, never had to send in more info.
Did the website update for you with anything? I’m assuming not.
Well, I guess I was wrong. No update. Unbelievable.
I found my post from last year. My post was on 3/1/17, a Wednesday:
“We approved your refund in the amount of $X to be deposited into your bank account on 03/07/17. It can take up to five days to show in your bank account. If your refund doesn’t show in your bank account after 5 days, check the bank routing and account number reported on the bottom of your New Jersey state tax return.”
So they are tracking later/higher delay this year since pretty much everything was the same with my tax situation last year except I had to file multi-state this year. I could believe they might need some extra time to research the credit I am claiming against the taxes I paid to NYC, but even so, it doesn’t seem like anyone else got an update, so I am going to assume that they are just slower this year than last year.
@LF
No, I just think they suck at updating, frankly.
Based on what I remember of past years, I believe many of us will see movement on the site tomorrow and will get DDDs of next Thursday-ish.
That may be a little too optimistic, but I think NJ’s primary issue is poor communication.
I still have no update beyond processing.
To say I am frustrated is an understatement.
I’ve been checking daily. The NJ site just updated today: My return is now in the “Processing” stage.
@Frank Agreed. I had to file dual-state and got my NY refund in early Feb. To be honest, I didn’t even notice that I had gotten it until today (it was a tiny refund). NJ is so late, every year.
I have a DDD of 1/30. With Chase I expect to get my money on Wednesday, 1/31.
I forget how long I’ve been here. I think 7+ years. Maybe more. Maybe 10 years. Maybe 20. Maybe I’ve always been here, before the dawn of time…
Sorry for the spam, I guess you can only edit once. The OP incorrectly states I received my money on Tuesday the 29th, but it was actually Tuesday the 31st last year. Either way, it was that Tuesday.
I expect WMR to update to 2 bars tomorrow. But I’m going to check after 8AM today for the heck of it.
Here’s my experience from last year (2017 for my 2016 return) based on one of my posts here from last year:
– Filed via TaxAct on 1/23
– Federal accepted on 1/23
– No EITC or ACTC
– Had 1 bar starting later on 1/23 after
– Did have Tax Topic 152 the entire time
– Was able to order transcripts starting Wednesday with a cycle date of 20160404
– My account transcript said that my Direct Deposit was issued on 2/13/17 (clearly wrong)
– I did NOT have two bars at 2AM, 3AM, or 5AM. When I woke up again at 8AM, WMR had updated. So if you checked super early this morning, check again. I’m in ESTSorry for the spam, I guess you can only edit once. The OP incorrectly states I received my money on Tuesday the 29th, but it was actually Tuesday the 31st last year. Dear god I misspelled a word in the topic header. :(
edit: Oh thank god, you can edit on a non-mobile browser.
@Jerrica Where do you see an estimated refund date? Or are you basing that on the schedule on this forum?
January 22, 2018 at 4:48 pm in reply to: Filers who were part of last tax season's early test batch… #4198757What was the cut off for test filers?
January 20, 2018 at 3:38 pm in reply to: 2018 Early Acceptance AND I can order my 2017 transcripts by mail #4198598Hmm, I just filed 5 seconds ago and haven’t gotten my DD, DDD, or DDDDDD yet. What’s up with that?
Same:
We approved your refund in the amount of $X to be deposited into your bank account on 03/07/17. It can take up to five days to show in your bank account. If your refund doesn’t show in your bank account after 5 days, check the bank routing and account number reported on the bottom of your New Jersey state tax return.
If you have more than one bank account, make sure you are looking at the deposit information for the correct account (e.g. savings vs checking.)
If the bank routing and account number reported on your New Jersey state tax return is incorrect, contact the bank to find out what you should do next.
If you signed up for a refund anticipation loan or rapid refund, you should contact the business you had file your New Jersey state return.
If your bank account was closed after you filed your New Jersey state tax return, the bank will return the refund to us. We will send you a paper refund check through the mail, to the address listed on your New Jersey state tax return. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for this process to be completed.
Maybe “issuing” means “start sending direct deposits out”
Meaning we may start getting them tomorrow.
I’m really angry now.
Morning.
Same.
Sigh.
Thanks, I hope so. Last year I got my NJ refund on 2/23 or whatever, too.
That would be nice.
When you say that according to their website they are doing some deposits the same day, you are inferring that from the line that they are going to issue refunds starting 3/1, right?
I hope you are right and that we both get ours on Wednesday. I filed on 1/23, I think. Sigh.
@Camilla:
It’s actually spelled “moolah”
;)
@Tara: Ah, cool, thanks for clarifying. How does weekly/daily work, then, if you don’t mind sharing?
To be honest, that’s something I don’t know too much about. Someone in another thread said that if your “cycle date” (which is on your transcripts) ends in “06”, then you are weekly, otherwise you are daily.
I believe it means that weekly people only see status movement on a weekly basis while daily people can see it any day during the weekly cycle, which is I believe Tuesday through Friday?
There are other threads here that may help more than I can on this subject.
Sam: The deposit date on the account transcript is nonsense. Don’t pay attention to it.
My deposit date also says 2/13/17, but I got a DDD today of 1/31/17.
Last year, my account transcript showed a deposit date of 2/15/16, but I received my direct deposit on 1/29/16.
@ItsMyMoney: Sorry to hear, but if you are a daily rather than a weekly, you may get your DDD on Monday. I wouldn’t lose hope. And the “deposit date” on the account transcript is clearly not something to go by. I confirmed that last year was the same: My account transcript said that the deposit date was 2/15/16, but I received my direct deposit on 1/29/16.
Note: I use TaxAct every year but I don’t believe H&R Block would be any different.
Yeah they should give you a reason. I was rejected once like 4 or 5 years ago and I was given an explicit reason.
I will say I dodged a bullet by looking closely at my W-2s. I’ve been with the same company for 5 years now, but their FEIN changed. Make sure you are not blindly importing your W-2 from last year without double-checking the details.
Fourth bullet should read “after being accepted”
@melbomb Not sure what you mean by that – I’ve always used TaxAct and I’ve always gotten my refund exactly on my DDD.
That said, I always paid my tax software fees with debit/credit card. If you have fees taken out of your refund, that may impact timing? I dunno. But if you have money going straight to your own bank account via Direct Deposit, whether or not you used a tax prep software shouldn’t matter at all.
I don’t remember the exact decoding. Has to do with the tax cycle that everything was posted (year, week, and day). It’s based on the IRS’s processing cycle. It points to an exact date, but it is parsed based on their cycle (i.e. 20160404 doesn’t mean 4/4/16). I don’t remember the exact code and it may have even changed this year.
I can say this: Last year, my Account Transcript showed a cycle posting date of 20150402 and “Refund issued 02-15-2016 $X”, but I received my money on 1/29. I had filed on 1/22. And the IRS started officially accepting returns on 1/19.
Like, you, I was just able to order transcripts. Mine shows a cycle posting date of 20160404 and “Refund issued 02-13-2017 $X”. I bet mine it comes earlier than that.
Can you check your Account Transcript and see what it shows for the Return Issued date?
Ha, nice.
I’m pretty sure New Jersey won’t be issuing any refunds until 3rd week of February, which is a bunch of garbage in my opinion.
Sorry to be a naysayer here, but there is no 2017 Tax Refund Schedule. The table provided in the link is an estimate only.
It also:
a) Differs from a majority of other estimated tables I’ve seen. Here’s an example: http://themilitarywallet.com/irs-federal-tax-refund-schedule/
b) Suggests a MUCH longer timeframe than last year (last year, the IRS started accepting returns on 1/19. I submitted mine by 1/22 and had my money via direct deposit on 1/29 – which is 10 days from the day the IRS started accepting deposits, or only 7 days from accepting mine
Considering we have people claiming they have DDDs of 1/27 already, I highly doubt the estimates in the link you provided are accurate. I believe the majority of those who have filed up until now (that do not have EITC or ACTC) will get dates of either 1/27 or 2/3.
@charlotte People like Kyle show up every year. Or maybe just Kyle shows up every year, I’d have to dig back through previous years’ posts. I’ve been coming here for years. They always pop in with their skeptical distrusting nature and inflated sense of entitlement demanding proof – as though anyone owes them anything.
Don’t be soured by Kyle and his ilk.
Last year, the IRS started accepting returns on 1/19 (Tuesday). My return was submitted and accepted on 1/22 (Friday). I got my DD on 1/29 (Friday).
I don’t recall exactly when I got my DDD, but I think it was Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.
I don’t really know what to expect this year.
I got accepted about 2 hours ago (3:31PM EST)
Student loan *interest. I can’t type today.
I didn’t have any credits or anything. The only non-standard thing I reported was $67 in student loan income I paid throughout 2016 which I wasn’t even eligible to claim due to my salary. But that’s been the case for years anyway so that wouldn’t impact me.
Uhhh. I accidentally posted too quickly. Obviously :) for you. I was going to say “:( hopefully nothing wrong with my return.”
You were accepted within 5 minutes?
:(
I filed with TaxAct this year. I’ve filed with them for the past 5+ years so it’s just easier from a data import perspective.
Only cost me $5 to efile Federal and NJ tax forms.
Not sure why. The $5 was the data import fee. I remember paying a lot more last year.
I got my DDD of 1/23 a few days ago. I think on Friday?
And I did get my actual deposit today.
Well…that’s fun. Thanks for the info, Kaldria.
@Jg
Does the NJ site even recognize your submission? They still tell me they have no info on my refund.
Filed on 1/22. Accepted 1/23. Still nothing on the NJ site.
Anyone know how long an NJ state tax refund usually takes after being accepted?
I filed at 12:30AM on 1/22 via TaxAct. Accepted about 9AM on 1/22.
Just got a DDD of 1/29.
