@kra
It’s under payment history or account summary. Something like that where it shows your payments & balances. If it says (refund) you’ve been issued a check already. You can also look at the very bottom of the screen in a grey bar.. I noticed a message stating “TOP complete” treasury offset process? Idk.
Mine says the same thing. If you can see refund, that means you have been issued a check & it’s on the way. I’ve also called the treasury offset line & mine is still there.
April 22, 2020 at 7:55 am in reply to: Tax return offset- has anyone received their offset payment yet? #4420122Following. Mine were taken 2/26. I’ve received the email from the department as well.
Chime just hit. 1:14pm. I paid for my fees thru TurboTax, my taxes were offset to student loans, I filed in February accepted same month. Good luck to you!
Same. In Cali with chime, still waiting..
Refunding my original return
Call them & confirm your address. Mine did the same & they are refunding it with a paper check 30-45 days
I’ve got chime. I paid for fees upfront, I have nothing so far. Chime deposits throughout the day but I don’t know with this one.
Okay, thank you!
Thank you!! Do you know if your offset is still on the phone number line? And did you have to tell DOE to reverse it in order for you to start the process of receiving the check?
@Nina thank you so much. That is the Same exact issue for me. So fingers crossed 🤞🏽! I don’t have Facebook so this is the only source of info I can get right now. Thank you, thank you!
Congrats! Anyone on this thread seeing any checks from the DOE?
I’m so happy for you guys! Good job on waiting till later to file! I’m still waiting over here, looking at my USPS Daily Digest hoping for a check!
Keep faithful!!
Agh! Mine is still on there
I definitely agree that the 3-13th rule they have in place is creating a lot of confusion because I feel like almost everyone is getting a refund because they obviously need the money for this pandemic. When your taxes are offset – it takes weeks to get to your account & post to the balances. If it’s still in the process – which the DOE or whoever can tell you, then you’re getting a check refund. If you haven’t filed yet – they just won’t interfere at all.
Are you sure it was applied to your balance? It takes about 4-8 weeks to post to your account.
I filed 1/31, was accepted 1/31, had a dd of 2/26 & it was all taken. I’m getting a paper check refund. I was in the process of filing hardship & everything. I believe the 3/13 issue is that’s the day trump declared the pandemic. They will stop offsets & wage garnishments for 60 days after the 13th. So nobody should be offsetting & nobody should be getting their wages taken from checks.
@Megan
They cannot take any tax offsets as of right now. I haven’t looked at the stimulus bill but I believe there is an end date or a deadline of when all of this is supposed to stop. I feel like other people have said 4 months on other forums… but they cannot & will not take any offsets right now.
This is why I keep updated with this forum.. because I want to know when we start seeing things in the mail. I will be updating you guys as soon as I get anything in the mail from DOE. I was also told the IRS can be getting the refund back too & disbursing it their way. This week is just up in the air. So much is going on in the US right now.
Yes! We’re in a pandemic.. they can’t just take money away from us that we need clearly. They’re giving back 1.8 billion dollars that they just took. It’s just going to take time to get the checks mailed to us. Like someone said, this just happened last Friday. EVERYONE IS CALLING & WANTING ANSWERS. I was told that with the DOE.. it’s basically when it’s your turn, it’s your turn. 880,000 other people are wanting their money & calling.
