Interesting…yes I know LONG read…but this guy (whose wife worked at the IRS) explains how to get the IRS people to tell you over the phone what is going on with our code 570. He said there is a number called a designator that we can’t see on our transcripts but the IRS can on their end…

MORE ON CODES: The IRS publication I mentioned is 633 pages and takes some time to read. Since I am unemployed right now, I had a chance to read the whole thing. What I found out from it has really been a big help. Most of the codes, referred to as ‘TC’ codes by the IRS, such as 150, 570, 971, have designators to them that are not shown on the transcript. In other words, they are incomplete on our transcripts. For instance, my designator for 570 is ‘1’. The code is actually 570-1. If you want to find out what is going on with your taxes you need to be persistent and informed. The designator part of the code tells the IRS what exactly is going on with your account / return. Once I realized that I only had the transaction action (TC) code and not the designator, I called the IRS and asked them to tell me the whole code. In doing so, I was able to get a person to actually pull up the screen that shows them the whole code and they were able to tell me exactly what is going on with my return. You may have to call them several times to find out what is going on because many of the people you contact in the call centers may not even know how to get to the right screen or unwilling to go through the trouble of looking it up for you. When I call them, I use option 2, that is, to discuss my account rather then 1, track my refund. If you call them wanting to find out why your refund has not arrived yet, be assured you will most likely be treated rudely and referred to their useless Where’s my Refund page. Getting your transcripts is your most useful tool. They can be obtained online by simply going to the IRS home page and following the links. If you do not have an online user account, you will have to sing up for one but it is an easy sign up and only take a few minutes. Requesting them by mail can take up to 8 weeks to get them so you will want to get them online (instantly). Once you have the TC codes, then you can call them as ask them to tell you what the designators to the codes are . If they wont tell you what the designator means or wont look it up for you, hang up and keep calling them back until you get someone on the phone who will tell you. Be aware of another fact, if your refund has any codes on it other then the standard processing codes, you are definitely going to be waiting an additional 4-6 weeks for your refund.

@Ty TT didn’t actually take it. They just put it on paper telling the IRS what they need to take from your refund…I have TT as well.

I know we all have that 570 code so what I’m about to say may or may not apply….

We all have that 2/16/2015 out there to the side on our account transcripts and are feeling we may not get our money until then…
Well I went back and looked at my past years (2012, 2013) ACCOUNT transcripts…

My 2013 account transcripts says I was refunded 2-24-14 but in actuality it hit my bank 2-6-14
My 2012 account transcript says I was refunded 2-18-14 but Ina actuality it hit my bank 2-1-14

So I don’t know how much I would rely on that 2-16-14 date….it could and hopefully will come much sooner.

@2013taxpayer I think you’re probably right! Excuse me if I made a mistake…my brain is doing backflips ever since my transcript became available. Excitement to not knowing….to still wondering. Thank goodness I got insurance coverage this year. Absolutely hate this stuff lol

@widget yes thank you for sharing. I must say my refund excitement is now as deflated as a New England Patriots football though now. It sounds on target. Because after 2/16 there would be accrued interest the IRS would have to pay. Just wondering though did they say it might release before then?

That code if it expires on 2/16/2015 is exactly 21 days from the date our returns began POSTING…not accepted. 20150402i is 1/26/2015…which is what the IRS will go by…not when our returns are accepted. So maybe…..but I say no because after 2/16/2015 our refunds start accruing interest that IRS will have to pay. Which means they pay more than our actual refunds are. I don’t think it’s accurate and we should see our refunds before then. But yes it’s possible. That would be the latest.

One others interesting thing about 2/16….we all began officially processing 20150402 Monday…1/26/2015…..21days from there is 2/16/2015…..look at your transcripts……it has a place on one of them for interest accrued….and 2/16 beside it with 0’s. If they don’t have it done by then the IRS will have to pay interest on literally millions of dollars. So I don’t doubt that they want to expedite this. Just wish we had received some form of notice that this could happen and that maybe we shouldn’t be alarmed about it.

I’ve been reading several help groups that have people in it with our same situation..

One lady just got off phone with a nice IRS rep that told her it should auto remove and shouldn’t hold up their refund. She said that as long as code 971 isn’t on there there should be no issues and that WMR and even transcript might not even update until after we receive dd! Even though the person could view their transcript and see it had the 570 code the IRS rep said their was no hold on their end? This is absolutely crazy! Let’s all just keep pulling for one another. I sure hope we see dd tomorrow or for you card holders tonight. If we don’t then I’m calling IRS lol! I’m just reporting what I read…..

I just got off the phone with the IRS I was told that the code 570 is for the ACA insurance penalty but that it is not holding up the refund and they could not give me any more information until the 21 days were up but that I should still receive my refund within 21 days

Anyone willing to call IRS? I’ve never had a holdup period with my refund…always did it early always get refund early….this is nerve wracking. Yes I’ve had one bar since acceptance…nothing changed…

I’m in that same category yall are…been following yall and anyone else I can find. Really sucks….I have searched high and low and haven’t seen any getting ddd or dd….I truly believe we will get ours though. The Treasury is the last link in refund chain….that 570 code is holding ours up. Once they place 571 code it should disappear and be replace by 846 then Treasury releases funds. I hope it automatically falls off. Surely it won’t be a person having to manually go in and change them because there are millions of us they would have to do that to. If I find anything new I will post here!

                                            CYCLE
                                            20140601

That is the year 2014. 06 is the 6th week 01 is first day of cycle. There are 5 days in each cycle…… Each cycle starts on Friday and ends on Thursday…my feeling is that if you get to refund approved before Thursday you should get same DDD of someone who got refund approved earlier in the cycle…I believe anyone approved in between Friday and the following Wednesday will each have the same DDD. This is my best guess…
