I filed 1/21 @ 2:00 pm (Federal and State) with TaxHawk (sister company to FreeTaxUSA).

Accepted: 1/21 Federal, and 1/22 State (Michigan)

I am a Non-Early Filer this year.

I woke up this morning, feeling hopeful, (though I knew better…..(I thought that I would expect my earliest update……at the earliest to be 2/1) and found a DDD of 1/29.

It seems that they are processing returns in random, or by how they choose to grab them.

A. I don’t know, I filed through TT but I have seen people that have used TaxSlayer asking this..

2. Has anyone that filed on 1/19/2016, and was accepted “ON” or “AFTER” 1/19/2016 been approved yet?

A. Yes, people from before, on and after (I’ve seen filed as late as the 22nd) that have been approved.

3. Has anyone that filed on 1/19/2016 been able to order their transcript yet?

A. Yes, while I havent, there are people who have filed on the 19th that have been able to order.

4. Do approvals only occur early morning/early afternoon or can approvals still occur throughout the day, and if so is there a cut off time?

A. Approvals happen all throughout the day, whenever they process them, HOWEVER the WMR tool only updates ONCE a day from 3am-6am. So, while they may have approved a return at 2 PM, the person won’t know until WMR updates.

anything sent on 1/ 8- 1/18 were in the irs phase one testing batch
U may have filed early but they were not processed until the 19 just like everyone else

@Eve Both of those together means that your return is under review and should be done processing soon. In about a day or two, you should be able to order transcripts and get a DDD. You cannot order transcripts until your return is done processing.

So I filed 1/14 accepted the same day, filed with taxslayer. Have not been able to get transcripts and no update on wmr. But I know a few ppl who filed on the 20th and the same thing applies to them. Hopefully an update over night. But I have been hearing that those that got ddd today owed the U.S. Treasury (offset) and that more updates should come within the next few days. I’m thinking tomorrow through Saturday. I have seen updates happen on Saturdays. So here’s to being hopeful!! ?

@jenna That’s 21 days from when your return was accepted by the IRS. It’s not a deposit date. That’s the date they’re saying you should receive it by.

@Cookie Not true at all. WMR updates every day. Last year I got an update on Saturday and the refund deposited my account the following Wednesday.

Although IRS opened tax season on January 19 and began accepting returns, they didn’t begin to process the returns until January 22. Cycles 01, 02 and 03 are dead cycles. They get recycled into cycle 04. Tomorrow is the last day for cycle 04 so those who submitted their returns by the 23rd should see some kind of movement by Friday morning if on a daily cycle. Those on a weekly cycle should see movement by Saturday morning. Saturdays and Sundays are non-production days so no movements should be seen Sundays or Mondays.

To see if you’re on a weekly cycle or daily cycle, you have to look at your tax transcript from the previous years. If it consistently ends in 05, you’re on a weekly cycle. If the numbers aren’t consistent, you’re on a daily cycle.

To my best ability for years of being on a weekly cycle. Our updates come on Saturdays. I have researched my own past taxes and I have had mine deposited on Wednesday. Supposedly I do believe like they finish say on Thursday they have 4 days to deposit which puts your money to you on a Wednesday if you are weekly. Seems all weekly cycles have deposits on Wednesday. Thursday or Friday we should be able to order our transcripts and Saturday get the WMR updates then Wednesday a deposit. I do not work for the IRS but I have been audited and for the past 7 years been on a weekly cycle. My refund has had several delays for reason they can not answer. I just don’t don’t which Wednesday we will get them but I’m 90% sure we won’t see our updates on WMR or through our tax file bank till Saturdays. Btw I filed the 18th accepted the 19th. I live in Texas I used efile.com and I check their bank they use (EPS Financial) 24/7. This has just been my input and experience so please don’t quote me :)
