@Taramg5: Sorry to hear that. I know I would be calling ever 4.3 minutes just to piss them off.
It will go straight to your bank,
@Buehler Buehler Buehler Anyone?: So were you ever approved?
Ironically I have been locked out of WMR. I checked only once today. lol
Nothing is wrong with the majority who flied on 1/19. The IRS messed up and wont admit what really happened.
Just in case anyone is planning on calling tomorrow, you are going to get the following answers:
A. Your refund has been approved, we cant give any more information.
B. Your return was selected for additional review and this can delay it up to a week, which has pushed back your 21 days to 28. Please call on the 16th for more information.
Good luck!
#Governmentcoverup
Well look at the bright side.. Today is over! Worst case scenario, we have 24 and a half to wait!
@me again: Yeah, it can take longer for them to mail a check. I don’t think it would be 3 weeks. They probably just say that to cover their butts. I would expect it within a week from 2/10
@Pending: I guess anything is possible. But if you check WMR and it says they are sending an amount, that is what they are sending. They will not say they are sending $5000, and only send $3500 because of pending verification of EIC. This is why people get audited. Once the IRS figures out you lied to them when your employers all send in your W-2s, and you did not deserve the EIC, they will say you owe them, and then the joke is on you because now you owe them money you spent already plus interest.
To put it lightly, this is not something the IRS checks right now. They are more worried about ID verification and that they are sending refunds to actual US citizens and that dependent SSN numbers match up and not being double used, and so on.
When I say “you” I do not mean YOU. Just a choice of words when talking about people in general. =)
@wish it was 2/10/16: It is not that the IRS rewards anyone for having anything. It is the way te banking system works. Traditional banks wait to ensure funds are actually available and such before sending it their customers bank. Most banks actually receive the DDs a day or 2 early, but do not process them into accounts until the day it is said to release on.
It is kinda like sending a post dated check.
these prepaid cards are the ones that release the funds when they receive them thus why people get them a day or 2 early. If you just had to have your money 12 hours sooner, I am sure you could call your bank, see if they see the pending deposit and pester them to release it. Maybe they will, maybe they will not.
I have seen you asked this question before. I am not sure if I or anyone else can really give you much assistance. The only people who would be able to help would be people who have been in the exact boat before (which would be rare) or the IRS. I would suggest to contact the IRS about this.
I am not sure why they would send a paper check for 2013 and not DD it, unless you selected it, or it has just been too long. From what I know, you can still select Direct Deposit even while mailing taxes. But, by the sounds of it, you will get back $5000 in 2 separate deposits and then will need to pay the IRS $900.
@Cute:): It is not a federal holiday, so yes.
@Magic8Ball: Call their hotline at 800-935-9935 it says it in the automated message. You may need to put in your card number.
Chase does have a message saying they will release the funds as soon as they get them. I don’t know is this means on 2/10, or when they get it on 2/8/
@lesly: It is possible. Some people are saying that they have received it early with traditional banks. Some using prepaid cards will get it early. I think it has to do with if you paid your fees or filed for free and so on.
For the netspenders who get DDs 2 days early, this is the trend I seen.
Those of them who filed for free or paid fees upfront, got the DD 2 days early. Those who had fees come out of refund only got it 1 day early or not early at all.
WMR does say “by” 2/10 So I do think it is possible we will see our DDs by Monday or Tuesday,.

FYI I tried calling them the other day and they were less helpful than the IRS. Good luck though!
@Stef: Is this your first year filing? It is kinda strange that it says that if not. There were several times I called it and it said the same for me. I just tried again and it worked. Seems that the system misses a number here or there.
Also, if you filed joint, it needs to be the primary filers SSN, not the secondary.

DDD of 2/10February 6, 2016 at 1:12 am in reply to: What does being able to order your return transcript really mean? #4130797What everyone else said, plus look at it this way…
You can not order an incomplete transcript. So if you are able to order a return transcript, then that means they have finished everything there is to do on your return for that year.
The transcript is the Official IRS page that they keep on file that indicates everything. Like others said it can be used for all types of stuff, even loans.
So if you can order a return transcript, and that means that in the IRS system, you are done. All that is left is for whatever DDD they put on that paper (that we wont see for 5-10 days) to come, at least if you’re getting a refund.
Whatever method the IRS uses to update WMR, will be updated upon finished transcripts.
In past years many people, including my self, do not get updated WMRs and just get the DD in their banks. This would be because the room full of monkeys imputing data may forget to update some.
Yeah I hear ya loud and clear. trust me! I don’t know when you filed, but I just hope it was recently. Millions of people have been waiting a long time.
I filed 1/17 and accepted 1/19. Everyday since then has been pure mystery as to whats going on, but it looks like things are back to normal now, we shall see!
I have been very pissed off with the IRS the last 18 days. But, I must say, I am much less angry now that I can order return transcripts.
I am not sure what to say about the offset line. It should say you have one if you do, maybe it will not say til you are done processing? Not sure on this.
But there is a way to verify your identity with the IRS online, but I would not do it unless you KNOW you need to as it cane delay you up to 9 weeks.
Just checked mine and all is fine.. Well not fine.. but still 1 bar after 18 days.
@Ashley: When was the last time you noticed WMR was normal? Also, do you still see Tax Topic 152 near the bottom?
@Danielle: No. This year we can not print online. The IRS thinks it helps with fraud if we can only get it mailed.. Past years you could see and print online. But you must wait for it in the mail, and with any luck, you’ll have your DD before it arrives.
As for state.. I dunno about other states, but here in Illinois, to fight fraud, we won’t be accepted until March 1st. So yeah.. I know some other states are doing the same, such as SC. Maybe California is one of them?
I never file state early, I am always worried it will mess up federal somehow.. I do not know why. So I just do them separate.. lol
@Jenica: Well if you have ordered 2015 return transcript, you are all done. Everything except a DD and a DDD anyways, which will come shortly as you know. As for early DD, some prepaid cards like netspend offer 2 day early DD. I have seen some people that have gotten it 2 days early, but you also need to remember in some cases, your money is first sent to another bank to take out fees if any, then sent to your bank, so in that case, there may be a day delay, meaning youll get the DD 1 day early. Last year I used PayPal prepaid, and got my DD on a Wednesday, before any WMR updates. I don’t know if WMr was just behind, or I got my DD 2 days early. Some people have reported getting the DD a day before DDD with normal banks also. So I guess it is all up to the service offered by the prepaid or bank.
Also, thanks for the turbotax update. I filed with taxact, and I do not have the luxury of seeing those figures! But my TaxAct still says I should expect a DD by 2/9.. So maybe Monday? =D We will see
@Hailey2016: Indeed! Now its time to worry if we typed in our routing numbers and account numbers right! JK! (not really… This is normally always my worry until this year. lol)
@TurboTax users: Does TurboTax have any new % of people who got their refunds from 1/19? Last I heard it was 32%
Well if WMR updates tonight (well Saturday at 3 am) then the money may be sent as of Monday for a DDD of Wednesday. If WMr updates Wednesday, then $$ sent Wednesday for a DDD of Friday.
It is up tot the bank as to how they handle it. Some post early, some don’t. Most do it on time.
@Danielle: Calling is useless. They will give no helpful info unless you are lucky til it has been 21 days.
So if you can order your 2015 return transcripts, you are fine!
@Hailey2016: Glad you had good news today!
1-800-908-9946 < — IRS transcript hotline.
Did you put a different address on your return this year? If so, try that one. Other wise, Google USPS Zip code look up and enter your info there and it will give you the exact format the IRS uses for your address, regardless of what you put on your efile..
You could also try calling the hotline for transcripts, its a bit easier if you’re having issues with address. Last I knew though this system was down.
February 5, 2016 at 8:22 pm in reply to: Is it strange everyone can get return transcript today? #4130479Well not EVERYONE can. Still some people from 1/19 and before who can not. But the most of us did. What is happening now is what should have been happening 2 weeks ago.
February 5, 2016 at 8:20 pm in reply to: Is it strange everyone can get return transcript today? #4130474Why would it be strange? Were you not able to order it or something?
@GG: Wow. Maybe I need to try calling back. lol. That is awesome they gave you info so quick.
My question is… how are you getting the IRS to tell you your DDD? Those of us who filed 1/19 and before they basically told us to F off every time we call, and you file YESTERDAY and get them to tell you a DDD? lol
@losmoore: It updates around 3 – 6 AM Time zone I do not know. Just safe bet that by 9 AM CST, it has been updated.
FYI It seems as though the transcripts system is down. So this may mean a new update for people, it may also be why some cant order them.
Hey everyone. Man was it hard to get on this site today. Was down for me all day. Me like most others, were able to order both transcripts and with new address today. I seriously almost cried while doing a happy dance.
I am sorry to hear for those of us who have not been able to order them, and like someone else, make sure to try and call also, as you may be entering your info a little different.
I called my bank (Chase) and no pending deposits. But a sure way to find out is the people who have offsets can call the TOP hotline and it should say when they plan to deposit it. I am guessing the 10th. But lets hope they push it through earlier!
It would be nice! But I am not holding my breath.
From what I hear, Big updates Wednesday and Saturday (early morning) and supposedly they will be pushing them through everyday now.
Good luck!
@kit0kat2009: Really?? Were you ever a victim of it int he past? Just wondering if there is a reason it keeps happening.
Wow a whole 4%!
Well. Remember Saturday and Wednesdays are “the big update days”. Also, according to some of the reports going around, true or not, claim the IRS will be pushing them through daily, with large clumps on Saturday and Wednesdays.
But I am willing to bet that if we don’t have an update comes Tuesday, and we call, they will say “You were pulled for a random review which set you you back a week and thus pushed back the 21 days to 28 days” like they said to me earlier.
Yeah I feel the same about the I.D fraud stuff. I mean I know people like the early deposits the prepaid cards offer and such. But why not mandate people us a bank account that matches their name? Like magic… The IRS matches names to bank accounts. Much less likely to be fraud then.
But I know there is some people out there that cant open bank accounts and such. Just making a point at how easy it would be to cut back on fraud while not slowing the process down.
@jumill87: Here is some food for thought. 20 people are freaking out and 10 of them are calling their bank to see if a $100 deposit came in. The bank instead refuses to give these 10 people information, so they call 5 times a day. That is 50 calls a day that take up 5 minutes each. That is over 4 hours of wasted time each day. They could easily just tell these 10 people the truth, who will in turn spread the word and prevent the other 10 from calling and stopping the original 10 from calling thus saving a potential 40 hours per week. Now times that by whatever you need to figure out how many people are calling the IRS everyday just to get smoke blown you know where.
@jumill87: @chiinadollmimi: Same. Hell I was annoyed last year when it took 8 days to get my refund! You think the IRS would just step up and tell us what is really going on. Millions of people are thinking worst case scenario right now. Thinking something is wrong with their stuff, some people having babies, some getting married and some losing their houses and cars as we speak. Sure, do not rely on a tax refund to come in for bills. I get that. But not everyone in this country is filthy rich. I also do not think that all these trolls understand that a good portion of us are not getting back $200 or $300. Some people are getting back $10,000 + !!! Who would not be pissed if they had $10,000 in limbo? In many cases that is 10 months of work for some people! It is not like this money is a loan or a favor! Its ours! We worked for it! We gave it to the government so they could collect interest on it and do god knows what with it! GIVE IT BACK!
I get that issues arise as I am sure 95% of the people waiting in limbo do also. But I think a simple OFFICIAL notice saying “Hey, we messed up. We are sorry, Everyone should expect to receive their refunds about 12 days later than normal” would settle everyone’s nerves and stop the crap!
I am just trying to get through this like everyone else. I have found peace in figuring the IRS is a week behind and am hopeful for next week, but have gone on to make other plans. No matter if this is the case or not.
@chiinadollmimi: I have heard that email you received was just a generic email. Basically TT has an automated system that sends them out and it is past the time that people normally get their refunds. So they are ahead of their selves.
@accepted1919: Did you get any info from them?
Yeah.. I would not do the ID verify thing unless you know you need to. I can see it holding things up. For all you know, it will put a flag on your account to needlessly verify your identity.
I have also heard that it will hold things up, I do not know for sure, so do what you wish. Just saying… I would not do it.
I would say to call the IRS and ask if it would hurt or not, but god knows they would tell you that if you did it, a citizen of N. Korea gets their freedom.
No it is not normal! But you are not alone. Something like 90% of people who filed on 1/19 have been s**t on.
We have a forum for us here
February 4, 2016 at 8:59 pm in reply to: Still missing bars? Stop checking WMR for 24-48 hours. #4129342Sounds like they are trying to get you to stop checking WMR. lol
@accepted1919: I also got the busy signal a few times when I called them.. Just keep trying, it will go through.
@accepted1919: The number I called is 319.373.3600 and they are open til 9 PM CST I was on hold for maybe about 10 mins. Press the option for technical support (even if you used free efile)
Please update us to let us know what they say for you.
@Jamie: Please read my post below. I called about that error.
Also when I said TaxAct said everything was fine, they meant everything was fine with them. They said The efile was submitted and accepted by the IRS and not rejected. That is all the info they will see until the IRS approves it and so on.
So we are fine.
@accepted1919: NO! DO NOT RESUBMIT! That will probably mess up your or delay your return.
I just called TaxAct about it and they said everything is fine. The ONLY way it would not be fine is if it got rejected, which would have happened on the 19th or closer to it. You would also get an email from taxact saying it was rejected.
If you would like to confirm your self, The number I called is 319.373.3600 and they are open til 9 PM CST (1 and a half hours longer) I was on hold for maybe about 10 mins. Press the option for technical support (even if you used free efile)
Also while on the phone with them, I checked again and it showed up fine. So I think they are just having website issues.
@Worried2015: Just called TaxAct, everything is fine. Will still be going elsewhere next year though.
@Worried2015: @TC hmm It did not say that for me earlier. What is even more alarming is in my list of returns it used to say the following:
Type Description Status
Created on January 14, 2015 at 2:44 AMReturn Printed E-filed Status
FEDERAL Feb 1, 2016 Jan 20, 2015 Accepted as of Jan 20, 2015(thats for 2014, and it still says it there)
For 2015, it said the same info for this years dates, now its blank.
@Danielle: and @Paitently Waiting: Below is a link to the TaxAct site I used. It used to say everything was fine and accepted by the IRS on 1/19/16 blah blh blah.. now it says….
There was an error processing your request. Please double check your inputs and try again.

@johnjay: It is the best explanation we have had thus far. It sounds believable. Not that I am doubting you, but I wonder who that persons extremely reliable source is.
Then you also need to figure that if we have been pushed back a week, that makes our new 21 day on the 16th. TurboTax is probably covering their butts by saying 1/20 since there still would be an update 1/17 for a DDD on 1/19..
This all makes sense to me, how does it not to you guys?
@Steve Smith: Well TurboTax is only 1 of the services. There is a lot of ways to efile. So if TT says 28% got it, then you have to assume that about only 4% of people have actually received it. Probably less.
@Worried2015: No my bars never went away. Just was having issues ordering transcripts with old address, which just means the IRS has not processed mine yet.
Like I said.. The IRS calendar does not even say they started til the 25th, irregardless of when we filed, IRS told me a week delay. IRS has told several people a week delay. Tax Advocates say the IRS did not start processing on the 19th. TurboTax has delayed expected refund date date out to a week and a half past the old deadline for 1/19ers.
I think it is pretty safe to assume that everything is a week behind on the 1/19ers. Some got lucky, but the majority did not. I would expect an update and a DDD of Wednesday or friday 2/10/16 or 2/12/16
@Worried2015: Yes. Did you see the post I made a few ago about my call to the IRS?
Also, the tax advocate lady said they started accepting on the 19th, but did not start processing. But would not tell me when they started.
Based upon this and my before mention theory that the IRS is a week behind due to their calendar saying they did not even start working until 1/25/2016, I now believe that all the people who filed the week of opening week were just put in a que and nothing started until the 25th.
Maybe a select few made it through. but yeah.
I feel a bit better at least knowing what is going on. Still pissed its not this week, or last week. But at least now I can assume it will be next week.
I just got off the phone with the IRS. I then immediately contacted the Tax Advocate people and the IRS was more helpful than the later.
I initially called the IRS because neither systems were letting me order transcripts. So after they updated my address and ordered my last year transcripts which I did not really want nor care about.. I said to the guy “Now I know what the answer is to this, but I feel that I should I should try” and told him I filed on the 19th, and have heard nothing. I just wanted to check and see if everything was OK. He said “Well, you already know this, but it can take up to 21 days, but since I am already in the account, let me check” He then informed that my account was randomly pulled for review and this can add an additional week to processing. I then asked him if this was something I should be concerned about and if there was anything I needed to do. He went on to say ” No there is nothing to worry about, I have seen A LOT of people pulled for review. There is no need for you to do anything, just have to wait one more week. ” So I tried to fish a little more more info by saying “So, hypothetically if I was supposed to finish processing and get a refund this week, then it would be delayed for next week?” He did not really answer that the way I wanted, but he did say ” Normally, you have to wait 21 days from filing, but since the review added a week, you will have to call the week after to get more information.”
Basically saying that because of this “”review””” it added a week to processing and instead of it being 21 days, it has become 28 days. So I can not call on the 9th and get information (although I will still try), I now have to wait until the 16th.
Once off the phone with him, I called the tax Advocate line in Springfield, Illinois ( I called them vs. Chicago because you tend to get nicer people there) But she only directed me to call the Chicago line..
The woman I spoke with was even worse than the IRS and would only say it has not been 21 days yet. Kept repeating her self. I guess the only thing I could get from her, and only if I look real deep into what she said and twist it a little… I asked “Well the IRS said I am under review, I just want to see what this means” She said “It has not been 21 days, everyone is under review.”
So I wonder if this means that since there has been obvious delays and issues with the IRS, most the people from 1/19 and close to it are under “additional review” thus adding a week to our delay and buying them more time.
So I now see that the IRS messed up somewhere and there is no way they can process all the people from opening week, and that’s the answer. I do not think we are getting a DD or DDD this week. I am guessing next week.
That first article on empire news is a crock of crap. I don’t know what type of news site that is, but they’re either out to trick people or got their information way wrong.
God I wish TaxAct had the type of support TurboTax does.. I almost used TT this year too… But decided to stick with taxact since I always got my refund in less then 10 days. I guess it did not make a difference this year, but i will be going with TT next year.
@Aprilynn: I was hoping that you could get it from your transmission ID that you got when you efiled, but mine is 201601 lol and according that that chart… no good. =P
@Aprilynn: You have to get the number from your transcripts.
Yeah, I feel that if something happened, they would have updated people earlier when they first started telling people there were issues.
Does anyone who filed with TaxAct know if there is such a wonderful help line we can call to get info?
been reading up on this site
Seems that maybe people with EIC were delayed, but possibly being pushed through today.
Who knows..
@kmccann: you are right about being stuck in a loop. As for the ppl with small refunds getting a DD or not, I do not know. I have a large refund, but not many people have been sharing that info.
