This is the first time I had to file IS. I can say that this was the worse experience ever. They received the form on 2/18 and on 3/24 the adjustment was completed and I was told today that the issue date is 04/04. I pray that it is in the mail before then. I’m just happy that I no longer have to call those RUDE agents.

i wish i knew which way they were doing ours since we mailed ours in…. ugh…. why can’t they just say on the WMR exactly whats happening instead of “it’s processing”…..

My “wages and incomes” transcript updated with my husband’s wage information. Under my name it doesn’t have my income information like his. I am the injured spouse. I hope this means someone is in my file working on something!

Yeah they updated sometime during the day last Thursday and there’s a second cycle # listed below my original one.

Just checked my transcript and see two 846 codes for different amounts. They add up the the original refund amount? What does it mean to get two codes?

Does anyone know if the tracking number at the top of the transcripts mean anything?

I sent it by mail…I haven’t gotten a DD date I was just thinking the new cycle number on my transcript might give me an idea if it were to be DD…but if it’s supposed to come by check maybe it’ll be any day now because they updated my stuff last Thursday.

Had a DDD of 3-26. It showed up fine on 3/26 in credit union account. Same day, there is an entry removing that amount.

First it was IRS TREAS 310 – REF
Then it was REV IRS TREAS 310-REF

irs.gov shows no errors in processing. Credit Union says it’s not them and we need to contact IRS.

                                  Any ideas what’s going on?

@Chaddox I was recently active on another site, and after spending a few weeks discussing and tracking it, we determined it was useless and ment nothing. The dates didn’t seem to hold any pattern whatsoever, even after we tracked the dates from those who had already received the return.

If your obsessive compulsive about waiting for your returns, like I am, I use this to keep track: http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html Makes figuring out the exact days much easier!

For me, today is day 54, seven weeks. The good news is, 11 weeks is only 23 days away so at least I can call and get my referral on the 24th! Something to look forward to if it goes that long

Why did they do that? Is it like a lottery? Do they just randomly accept people early each year?? That kinda rubs me the wrong way. Why would they tell everyone 1/31 and then PSYCHE! accept a bunch early?? Did you eFile or mail it?? Explain to me how it works bc I’ll file ASAP next year.

this year, I ended up having to wait til 2/6 anyway b/c I used TT. Somehow I ended up in cycle 805 where everyone else who filed that day seems to be in 605. I might try mailing the IS form next year. It seems to be the consensus that it’s faster that way anyhow.

I am going by the IRS website information:
WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today announced plans to open the 2014 filing season on Jan. 31 and encouraged taxpayers to use e-file or Free File as the fastest way to receive refunds.

The new opening date for individuals to file their 2013 tax returns will allow the IRS adequate time to program and test its tax processing systems. The annual process for updating IRS systems saw significant delays in October following the 16-day federal government closure.

The government closure meant the IRS had to change the original opening date from Jan. 21 to Jan. 31, 2014. The 2014 date is one day later than the 2013 filing season opening, which started on Jan. 30, 2013, following January tax law changes made by Congress on Jan. 1 under the American Taxpayer Relief Act (ATRA).

The IRS cautioned that it will not process any tax returns before Jan. 31, so there is no advantage to filing on paper before the opening date. Taxpayers will receive their tax refunds much faster by using e-file or Free File with the direct deposit option.

Yours would be the first I have heard of early filing allowed.

Helpful if you can’t get into your transcripts or feel like WMR won’t update for you.

Anyway I filed on 1-25 with turbo tax got accepted on 1-28 and in the first week of feb. My wrm updated with a dd date of 2-12 but the amount had been changed so I filled out the the IS form and sent it in on 2-9. On 2-12 part of my refund was in my bank. the beginning of March My transcript updated to IS received on 2-12 ( I sent it certified mail), then no change for weeks then on March 25 my transcript changed and showed the amount they has held put back and it showed a notice issued on 4-7 and refund issued on 4-7, as of date was 4-14,but yesterday (March 31) I check the mail and there was my refund in check form! My wmr never updated after going back to processing…

The change in the deduction amount from the different filing status would be compensation for not claiming her as an exemption… plus you will get it in the 21 day time frame.

I finally called today just to make sure there were no issues or that I was not lost in the cracks of the system. Turns out all is well and my return is sitting in the injured spouse department just waiting to be released. However the woman said they have the full 11 weeks to do so. The 11 weeks does not start until February the 6th when they actually started accepting IS forms. So guess it could be anytime till the latest she said was April 24th…. so we shall see…. keep yah posted.

And this was confirmed by them when I called. My brother in law was also one of them and got his return on the second of February.

The earliest you can start counting is when the IRS started accepting returns, which is 1/31. Today is 3/31, which is 59 days, or 8 weeks rounded down. No one is in week 9. :)

Had to amend after I found out they were offsettin due to wife child support.. Amended return was received on 2/18 and says it was adjusted on 3/14, haven’t got the notice yet.. Checked my account transcripts and I’m getting the following codes: 150 2/24; 766 4/15; 768 4/15; 846 2/24; 898 2/24; 899 2/24; 290 3/24; 971 2/18; 971 2/18; 898 2/24..
I’m just wondering if I’m going to be getting my money back? All the income reported was mine and I’m not responsible for her debt and not in community property so I should right?
It just looks like they’ve applied it to the debt, unapplied it, applied it again and issued the refund all on 2/24 but then something weird is going on with the 290 on 3/24 (after the date the wmar says my account was adjusted and the 290 is at $0). Am I just over thinking it and just need to wait for something else to show up?

I filed the same way this year as I did last year, no additions or subtractions. While this is only my 2nd year filing IS form, nothing I’ve read referred to resetting of 11wk processing period. I haven’t gotten a letter indicating there were any issues and my transcript does not reflect any changes. Hopefully, I will have some answers or clarification by the end of the week. If anyone has information about a “re-set”, please enlighten me. Thanks

Which is crap because I’ve never not received a refund. Turns out the program I used only sent in my federal that year. Anyway, I filed on February 2, 2014 and it was accepted within a few days (by both)

I called the 2.5 weeks ago and was told that I should have received the “90 day” letter, as well. That the money they deducted would also be returned to me (because I went ahead and finished the return for 2011. In addition to that, I would also be getting an additional $90.00 for my 2011 return. However, the reimbursement along with the $90 would only be sent out after my 2013 refund was approved/sent out for payment.

Last week the status of my refund went from ” has been received but processing has not been completed.” to “pending approval” and today when I checked on it, it was back at “has been received but processing has not been completed.”

Anyone else ever hear of something like that happening? ((insert angry face))

However, there was a second cycle date listed on my transcripts that I noticed when they updated: 20141305. That generates to Thursday March 27th. Everything I’ve read says to add 4 bus. days for DD, which would be Wednesday April 2nd. So, if I don’t see a DD on Wednesday I’ll assume a paper check won’t be far behind. But, if the paper check arrives on Saturday the 5th or later, I won’t know until Monday the 21st because we’ll be out of state. Would be nice to see it before we leave though! I’m keeping us all in my prayers.

Looking at my transcript for this year shows code 150 (Tax Return filed) 2/24/14, code 846 (Refund issued) 2/24/14, Code 898 on 2/24/14. Then code 971 shows twice as IS form received, and then as Amended tax return or claim forwarded for processing also code 971 dated 2/21/14 (this strikes me as weird since I mailed it AFTER my tax refund was offset and it was def. after they accepted my return. Anyway, now my transcript is showing code 977 Amended Return Filed as of 2/21/14.

The where’s my amended return status that the IRS has says that it was received 2/21/14 and was adjusted on 3/14/14. This is what it tells me:

Your account was adjusted on March 14, 2014. Within three weeks, you will receive a notice that explains the adjustment.

This Friday April 4th will be the 3rd week…anyone actually GET the “notice” within the 3 weeks or am I hopelessly stalking my mailman.

Seems like if the Amended return has been filed then there should be some info?

I finally got thru to someone, and when told the 11 weeks BS, I asked when the 11 weeks started. She said it typically takes 3 weeks for a normal return + 8 additional weeks for the IS form for 11 weeks total (for eFiled, add 3 weeks if mailed in). She did say some are done faster, but unless there any unrelated issues, it should always be done in that 11 week time period. 7 years of filing this form, and only one year took longer, but that was due to Education Credit issues they had last year.

If the 11 weeks starts from the day the IS dept receives the return, that would be the first time in 4 years of filing I have heard that. Every single agent I have called have stated it starts the day your return is accepted by the IRS. I’ve never heard, on any forum or from anyone else the 11 weeks starts the day the IS dept gets the return. He might be new or stalling.

I tried to run a transcript yesterday and it said it had no record of me filing a 2013 return???? Should I call the IRS. I’m nervous now as Turbo tax shows that 53% of those who filed on the 22nd have received their refunds. Last year it took about 8 days for me to receive my refund and even an amended return took only 2 weeks via snail mail last year??

If you qualify for their assistance based on individual circumstances, they can figure out what the issues if any are and expedite getting those issues addressed to get your refund. They can not circumvent any IRS laws or rules (that is what the dept personnel said to me) but can work within the system to get things done. I think? That’s what I read. I will update my progress if any as it happens.

I ask him about the 11 wks from 3/20 comment from previous rep. I slips and says that he’s not sure where the previous rep got that date from because they are not even suppose to pull the account up if it has not been 11 wks. He gives me the 11 wks from acceptance spill but I convince him to take a look to see what’s up with the 3/20 date I was just given. After some minutes on hold, he comes back on the line and confirms that I will have to wait 11 wks from 3/20 despite having filed 1/31 because I was pulled out of the system for a “random review” and then put back in the system and my time re-set. I don’t even know what that means. I got not letter about an audit, a random review or anything for that matter. I was thrown. Really? So I called and asked for a tax advocate. Tax advocate dept. informed me that the normal 11wk waiting period starts on the date the IS for is received in the IS department, not the date it is accepted by the IRS, but they would assess my situation for Tax Advocate assistance. I checked the WMR yesterday and received a notice that “Your refund has been reduced to pay a past due IRS tax obligation.”

However, the refund that they are sending me is exactly what I expected to receive…and I know of no “past due IRS tax obligation”. Has anyone else seen this issue?

It is 11 weeks from the recieved date. Mine is the same as yours. I called this morning and hit the 11 week speech. So we are at week 9 now. Gotta be soon (I hope)!

The transcript has a 570 with date 02/24/2014. I called IRS this morning and gentleman says I have to wait 11 weeks from 3/20. That just does not sound right to me. I though IS was 8 to 11wks from acceptance date if electronically filed and about 14 if mailed. Any thoughts while I wait on hold to speak to IS department (in hopes that I get someone who can enlighten me)?

By chance would I get it all back even though I live in a community state?

Was on hold closer to 45 minutes, my hand actually fell asleep…
Then the awaited for click, a recorded voice said “Please hold”, the music intensified like a Broadway show was about to start. This is it, they are about to answer!!….
And then “we’re sorry, your call can not be completed at this time, please try again later” CLICK….
The cats ran due to the string of expletives I was shouting out, I’m amazed my phone withstood the throw across the room…FML
I guess no answers for me today :(
I’m happy people are getting their refunds, just very disappointed every time I read that someone who filed after we did, received their refund before us. I guess my IS processor either contracted malaria or went on vacation.

I had that happen last year and it was deposited that morning. So I keep checking my email too. My morning goes: check email-nothing, check transcripts-nothing, check WMR-nothing. :-)

Can my wife now file the state of MD. Injured spouse form . To get her portion of the refund returned to her. Also would she file that State of Md injured spouse form by itself or with a copy of the MD state return that was already filed.

At least we are getting something back! Won’t have the money until after vacation sadly, Oh well. Whew!

I’ve read the threads and got my transcript yesterday. I am really confused about why I show two 898 codes dated 2-24-14. I have the 846 dated 2-24-14 also. Worried that it shows those 898 twice, like they approved our refund and then sent it back. Any help or encouragement would be awesome.
