When can you file your taxes?
You can submit your tax return before the IRS begins processing as early as the first week of the year with many tax preparation providers. You don’t need to wait until the IRS begins accepting tax returns but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January. Tax returns filed before the IRS officially opens sit in a āqueueā and are held until the IRS officially begins accepting tax returns.
Your tax return may be selected in a test batch. If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early. This can result in early direct deposits depending on the payment provider you select. Our cycle chart will update with key dates including test batch dates.
When does the IRS accept tax returns?
The IRS usually opens around the third week of January each year. They announce the opening date early in January.
The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on January 26, 2026.
When is the IRS test batch?
If you file your tax return early, it may be sent to the IRS in a test batch before the IRS has officially opened for the year. It is usually a week before the date the IRS begins accepting tax returns. This has resulted in refunds in the past that can be posted by direct deposit as early as the day after tax season opens.
When will I get my tax refund?
Early filers whose returns are accepted in a test batch can anticipate a tax refund as early as the day after the IRS opens the January filing season if your return was in the test batch. The day that the IRS deposits refunds varies for regular returns but we notice trends based on the method you chose to file and select to direct deposit. I’ve never looked at my transcripts (online or otherwise) do I have to have an ID me account for that? As I said I already have an IP pin so I already have an account but apparently there are two different things?!

I hope the PayPal deposit was a legit person. Never seen that name before with such vague deposit information. They say the fee were taken out that’s the reason. Congrats to you if that’s real. Sometimes I think turbo tax be watching this website.

Has anyone with 2/26 DDD that uses CASH APP gotten their refund yet ?? I follow this site yearly for the past 4 years and itās always helped me get through these trying times. Patience is running thin now and I have no finger nails left to bite off lol so I am posting to see if anyone that is the same has got theirs yet. Happy Tax Season Errbody šµāš«. Heyyy so on SBTPG website after you enter your info scroll to the bottom and under amounts paid to you *** it will have your balance and under it there will be a smaller print tracer number if you donāt see it then your money hasnāt been released by them yet after that number shows for me itās usually less than 6 hrs I have my deposit in my CK account
@Tasha K.: Of course! It was 800-830-5084. I just told the Agent I never received the verification letter. Be sure to have your W2 and 1040 from last year and this year to answer the verification questions.

Congrats if you received your DD from CK. The only time I received a deposit on the weekend for CK is for an advance. I always got the fees taken out of return. It comes either on the day of around 830 pm CST or the day around 6:30AM.

CK TT fees from refund/advance – SBTPG funded since Wednesday afternoon DDD 2/25 glad to see people finally starting to get their funds !!!!! I donāt have a tracer number yet so Iām assuming sometime tomorrow š©š©š©š©š©š© about 13 hrs and the wait will finally start to be over for the majority of us ššš

I just chatted with Chime. My DDD is 2/24. I was told that they now see the incoming deposit and it will take a few hours to complete this was at 7:45 CST in Oklahoma. I used TT to file. Hoping others waiting with 2/24 will have the money soon too !!!
SBTG deposited my state return at 2:48am on the day ofā¦ I asked the lady when was my federal being deposited she said the 24thā¦

@Quana: Iāve wondered the same. But just continue to assume it has to be there to trace funds. Itās just crazy itās taking this long. Iāve never waited this long. This is also the first year Iāve been a weekly and it definitely sucks.

@SamfromMA: Iām hearing Cross River will release 2/24 deposits around 10-11 tomorrow so when you wake up tomorrow and donāt see your deposit yet, try not to freak out lol Iām in the same boat as you – waiting sucks, especially knowing had I not chosen the 5 days early option crap Iād have had my refund days ago.

6Early access to paycheck or federal government benefits is compared to standard electronic deposit and is dependent on and subject to payor submitting payroll or benefit payment information to the bank before release date. Payor may not submit payment information early.
@Amanda: youāre in the same boat as me and many other people – if you got denied the 5 days early (which could be for a whole bunch of reasons) then Cross River has your deposit (it doesnāt go to Santa Barbara if you chose the 5 days early option). Cross River should take TurboTax fees tomorrow 2/24 around 10 am and then send to your bank. Keep in mind, it could still take a day to get to your bank but should go in sometime midday tomorrow. Same thing happened to a bunch of people with 1/29 deposits they got theirs either the day of their DDD or 1-3 days after.

@wade123: from my experienceā¦ when 971 was on my transcript it was a letter explaining the 570 hold. 571 is the hold being released (issue resolved).

Hey guys so Iām a 0605 and DD 2/26 but I use chime and I had fees taking out and republic already showed sent to bank same day that I got my 846 code . When I get my school refund and they send it on a Friday Iāve gotten 2 of them on a Sunday at 9:13pm. So maybe we will get lucky you guys . Good vibes and positive energy . We almost done .
@Tasha K.: Hello. I had to ID verify this year. Filed and accepted 1/27 with Taxslayer. The ID verification message showed up on my iRS online account probably a week later.
I never received the letter in the mail. I finally called this past Wednesday 2/19 and spoke with an agent who verified me over the phone. My transcripts updated a little after midnight this past Friday the 21st with a DDD of 2/26. I didn’t expect it to go through that quickly. Good luck to you!

Hello all! Is there anyone else stuck with as of date 24? I hope to see my deposit just miraculously pop up in my account
I have chime, DDD of 2/24, have fees coming out and opted for the 5 day early thing but got denied or whatever so hopefully tomorrow morning. I used to get it one day early at like 5AM if I had fees coming out but think the 5 day early fee messed everything up so who knows when or what time it will come
HELP: I am getting conflicting information. One website tells me if I get code 570 and 971 on different dates it suggests there is a serious issue. Another tells me if I get them on different dates its good and means they resolved it and the 971 notice that came later is nothing more than a notice it was resolved, and I will soon get a 571. So which site is right. Is it better to get the codes together or get the 971 a week later like I did? There has to be some reason behind timing, I just don’t know which site is telling the truth
