When can you file your taxes?
You can submit your tax return before the IRS begins processing as early as the first week of the year with many tax preparation providers. You don’t need to wait until the IRS begins accepting tax returns but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January. Tax returns filed before the IRS officially opens sit in a “queue” and are held until the IRS officially begins accepting tax returns.
Your tax return may be selected in a test batch. If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early. This can result in early direct deposits depending on the payment provider you select. Our cycle chart will update with key dates including test batch dates.
When does the IRS accept tax returns?
The IRS usually opens around the third week of January each year. They announce the opening date early in January.
The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on January 26, 2026.
When is the IRS test batch?
If you file your tax return early, it may be sent to the IRS in a test batch before the IRS has officially opened for the year. It is usually a week before the date the IRS begins accepting tax returns. This has resulted in refunds in the past that can be posted by direct deposit as early as the day after tax season opens.
When will I get my tax refund?
Early filers whose returns are accepted in a test batch can anticipate a tax refund as early as the day after the IRS opens the January filing season if your return was in the test batch. The day that the IRS deposits refunds varies for regular returns but we notice trends based on the method you chose to file and select to direct deposit. Is anyone with with processing date of 2/17 still waiting for 846? thinking im a true weekly 0505 have been for years was hoping for early surprise 846

Got in but to no surprise no 846. I know people keep saying it’s coming but it looks like they are saying put my his file at the end we get him last.

Filed 2/10 accepted 2/13 , transcripts are not available yet? Is this normal?
@Dentonj88: but if you’re an 0505 weekly you will only process on a Thursday with an update for Friday, that’s how 0605 and even 0705 will process before 0505 true weeklies that were held by path. I’m a 0605 true weekly and are seeing those 0705 dailies process before me too. 0505 and 0605 weeklies will process together tomorrow with transcripts updating hopefully tomorrow night too but if not then Friday morning.

@Txmomof3girlsnotsignedin: my confusion 0705 updating before 0505…usually those 1st two numbers indicate what week they’re processed and the second two is daily v weekly
@Waiting patiently: I have the same with Credit Karma. No deposit and SBTPG says no record of my return. Had anyone with Credit Karma got a deposit?
Do weeklies update tonight going into Thursday or Thursday going in to Friday bit confused
For the 05’s updating already that would make you an 05 daily and not 05 weekly; that’s why you’re updating now. True 05 weeklies will not update until tomorrow night unfortunately but hopefully we’ll start seeing them early too!
@Gorillamom4: yeah. This has happened to me every year. Just leave the page open a few minutes. Dont touch it. The transcript will open
@Morris: very weird. I’ll take it though. Last year I got stuck until August. They found no errors, paid interest (how minimal that was) but only after I got my local congressman and the governors office involved. Dumpster fire last year

Finally able to view transcripts. Updated to ddd 2/25/2025!! Cycle code 0705 as of date changed from 3/3 to 3/10.
@Gorillamom4: it is. I close it, open another year, close that one and reopen current year. Seems to work most of the time. I think the system is working double time today

Does anyone else TT says this 👇👇 (please read bottom) mines says it I also have my refund coming back to me through cash app and I haven’t received any thing yet I’m just gonna hope for tomorrow maybe sbtpg haven’t finished up taking their fees yet or something idk but I got to excited for nothing to be in my account smh but when I went to go check on overall payment it said “thanks for your payment” and it had the amount that was supposed to be taken out i believe……

Mines just updated with 846 for 2/25 and I’m a weekly with code 0505. It wasn’t updated earlier so this just happened in a few hours. I file 1/30 and 1/31….. Thank God!!!

@Relle1092: 570 is a hold code, I remember having it a couple of years ago, it’s released by a 571 code. For me it fixed it’s self. They ended up reducing my refund by $488.00 dollars. I also received a code of 971 ( a letter) explaining why they reduced my refund. I ended up cycling through the next week with the 846 code
