I am not sure then. I have student loans as well not in default. My state was taken this year too, which left a knot in my stomach. I called my attorney generals office and they said it was for a hospital bill I didn’t even know about. When I checked my state refund status, it said it had been sent to the attorney generals office, so thats why, I called them.

You can call the offset line and it will tell you if you have any offsets for your fed return. I think the # is 1-800-304-3107. I believe its option 2 you want, but don;t quote me.
