Thank you for your response. It doesn’t matter i have both cards just wanted to know if I should be checking both or wait on chase. Thank you again.FWIW: I was checking both cards. You just don’t know for certain which tax return was used until the payment is issued. I was only able to determine they used my 2019 tax return after the fact.
So what year are they going off of if your processing?
I’ve seen it go either way. My 2020 tax return is still processing, so they used my 2019 tax return. I know this for a fact because they sent payment for me and 3 dependents totaling $5600. I only claimed ONE dependent on my 2020 tax return. Also, they sent my stimulus to my serve card. I did not use my serve card on my 2020 Tax Return.
In other words, the IRS’s failure to process my return in a timely manner(filed and accepted on 2/12) forced them to use my 2019 return. Other people are allowed to wait to file their 2020 tax return if their 2019 tax return would result in a larger payment and there’s no penalty whatsoever.
ALSO, if it is determined that person was owed more once their 2020 tax return finishes processing, the IRS will send a 2nd payment.

Exactly. For example, if I receive a stimulus payment based on my 2019 return where I claimed 3 dependents(2 adult children) because my 2020 tax return was still being processed, but only claimed 1 dependent in 2020, the IRS will not make me repay the overpayment for the extra dependents. My adult children will still receive their stimulus based on their 2020 tax return because theirs were already processed and completed before the IRS began issuing stimulus payments.Can you clarify what you’re asking more clearly? There is a loophole that allows you to receive the stimulus based on 2019’s refund because yours is still processing and you are not penalized for receiving more even if you would’ve received less under your 2020 return. It will not keep your ex from receiving her payment based on her 2020 taxes.
I received my 3rd stimulus payment at 9PM and there’s NOTHING showing on my tax account summary or my transcripts regarding the stimulus.
My 2020 tax return is still being processed so they issued my payment based on my 2019 tax return. How do I know? Because I had 3 dependents in 2019…only 1 for 2020 AND I used a different bank for my 2020 return instead of my serve card.
If you are 100% certain you are using the right account number for your student loans, then switch browsers. My sister was having that problem on Chrome, so I tried using safari and I was able to create her account to access her transcripts with no problem! IDK why it happens but switching browsers has helped a lot of people I know.

My Stimulus TL:
04/15/20 @ about 8am: Successfully added my DD info on the portal.
Various times throughout the day on 04/15/20: Status showed payment would be direct deposited and showed the last 4 digits of my checking acct.
04/16/20: Spent the whole day locked out of the portal.
04/17/20: Status changed to “check will be mailed on April 24th.”

On Wed: The portal had shown us a message that our bank info was successfully added. On Friday it all went to shit and those of us who had already been able to provide bank info got blindsided by a message saying we would receive paper checks instead.
A good chunk of us were able to add our DD info on the Portal Wed before any check status showed.

I think for the lucky ones who were able to submit DD info in the portal before mail out status updated those people corrected their own method of delivery from mail to DD..Did you get a refund advance or have your tax prep fees deducted from your refund? If so, then yes…we’re in the same boat. Even those of us who were able to provide our DD info on Wed-April 15th through the portal, have now received payment statuses indicating a check will be mailed to us on April 24th.
Mommyto3 I understand why a lot of you keep saying that but it doesn’t seem likely. The IRS explicitly stated that if they had already sent the payment or already had bank info on file, then taxpayers would not be able to provide DD info through the portal. In other words if what you’re saying was the case, then none of us would’ve been able to provide our info in the 1st place on Wed.

@timberleiwhittlesey If the banks we provided supposedly rejected the payment forcing the IRS to mail a check, then how is it certain they’ll still have the DD info we provided on the portal if any additional payments end up being provided? Why would the IRS keep that info on file knowing it was previously rejected?
Lizeth at this point we’re all just over trying to find clear cut answers. It’s like we’ve been trying to decipher all the information we’ve been given , not realizing we need decoder rings. I feel like I’m looking at a Where’s Waldo book and the damn answers we need are Waldo.

It just feels like everything that could go wrong did. The IRS is to blame for most of it, but JH was just as incompetent & useless. They spent almost 2 weeks providing inaccurate or half-assed info to their customers. They knew these pymts were coming & failed to prepare for it. What’s worse is JH reps were telling ppl they’d get the deposit on their Serve card completely overlooking a huge chunk of their customers…those of us who got refund advances/needed help filing taxes.
@Momof4 Because your monthly fee was waived. They waived almost everybody’s for April.

@lisa2020 Except how does that explain that it’s not just the Serve cards being rejected? People who decided against providing DD info for their Serve cards used other banks on the portal. Yet, they too are being told they will now be mailed a check instead.
@Michelle Yep. Ppl on this thread who have now been told a check will be mailed, were able to provide DD info on the portal Wed morning. By the IRS’s own info, had our payment been sent or was scheduled to be sent to Republic, then we wouldn’t have been able to provide DD info. Ppl whose payments went to Republic received a message indicating their payment was deposited to an acct that had the last 3 digits of their SSN with a 0 at the end. They were not allowed to update their DD info.
And then there’s the fact the Republic Bank notified people that if the deposits ended up with THEM, they would send checks to people themselves instead of rejecting them and sending them back to the IRS.
If that reasoning explained why we were able to enter DD info ton the portal, I’d understand. It does not account for the fact that we never received the message our pymt was sent preventing us from adding DD info. It doesn’t explain how we were allowed to provide our info when IRS stated people w/DD info on file(even if it’s Republic’s) would not be able to update DD info. Nor does it explain the portal showing our own DD info we provided AFTER we used the portal to add it.
Imagine telling me I didn’t realize my DD info wasn’t on my return when you can go back a week on this thread and see, I was one of the first people to point it out. 🤦🏻♀️
We KNOW. Which is why we provided our DD info on the portal. If they had the Republic DD info, we wouldn’t have been able to provide our DD info. We would have gotten a message that said it was deposited to an account that contained the last 3 digits of our SSN and a zero. We didn’t, so we were allowed to update our info. We had already been given the “payment added successfully “ message.” Thanks anyways. Don’t let us keep you. 👍🏻

Not to mention, Preston has repeatedly told you the IRS’s FAQ says the reason people who later ended up with a message that they’re receiving a paper check despite providing DD info is because the bank they provided rejected the payment. ALSO, Republic Bank made it clear if they received tax payers’ payments that they would mail them to taxpayers at no cost, instead of returning them to the IRS(is rejecting them). The IRS made it clear, people could only update DD info if payment had not been sent. When we added our info on Wednesday it allowed us to so that means our payment had not been sent. The small percentage of ppl who had an account with the last 3 digits of their SSN and a zero, meant the payment was sent to Republic Bank and those people could not provide direct deposit info.
At this point homie just likes reading himself because he’s clearly ignoring what we’re saying. LMAO. We noted there was no DD info on our returns a week ago which is why half of us immediately used the IRS portal to provide DD info.
FLAT NO SHIT there wasn’t any DD info on our tax return. That is exactly why we went on the damn portal on WEDNESDAY and added our.direct deposit info. We received messages that showed we were successful and that our payments would be direct deposited to the account we added on the IRS portal.
Flat you are ignoring what we’re telling you. There wasn’t anything to override at that point. WE HAD ALREADY BEEN ABLE TO INPUT OUR BANK INFO. Like what aren’t you grasping? For your scenario we would have never been able to provide our bank info to begin with FFS.

@preston3 You’re not crazy. There is absolutely no reason your DD info should’ve been rejected. The routing and checking acct number for your SERVE card is completely different from the one Republic Bank creates to receive our tax refunds. Best proof of that is the fact that ppl who used DD info for REG banks are now facing that same damn issue.
@flatx Except you’re ignoring the fact that people who updated their bank info on the portal, had already shown they added their DD info successfully are now getting a status that says they’ll receive a check. DD info for the serve card is completely different from the TEMP DD info Republic created. Not to mention those who updated to their regular banks are having the same issue.

Mark not true. I use my serve card for direct deposit for my job. The ones they delete are the ones REPUBLIC BANK created. Something else is up but if they’re scheduling paper checks to be mailed by April 24th then there’s no reason to believe it will be “months”.

Ive used my Serve card for direct deposit with my jobs with absolutely no problem at all. From what I’ve seen, Serve waived monthly fees for April. So you’d see a fee of 0.00 in your transactions.
@Myandra I usually do my own taxes. I used JH for the refund advance because my financial aid for school had been delayed. Hopefully I won’t need that advance next year. I’m fine doing my own taxes.
@Myandra it’s a glitch according to the IRS. Just the same, I have a feeling much like with refunds, we could get deposits before the tool updates anyways. That’s what happened with WMR. I got my deposit before WMR ever showed the deposit was sent.
LMAO JH is late as hell on recommending people provide their direct deposit info on the portal. Seriously, it amazes me their own “tax professionals “ did not comprehend that if taxpayers had fees taken out and/or got refund advances then the IRS never received our direct deposit info. Dummies only learning the motions and not fully understanding what it is they’re doing. A damn shame!
Correction: It’s not just Metabank. REPUBLIC BANK also received payments and they’re mailing the payments they receive to the taxpayers instead of returning them to the IRS….FREE OF COST.

@RobertK I concur, my guy! Somebody said on a diff thread that they have a deposit pending for 04/22. When something similar happened with my refund, I got my deposit on a Sunday evening before the Wednesday when it was supposed to be deposited!
Stillbroke IRS is saying it’s a glitch they’re trying to fix.
@Dawn Woot woot! Maybe just maybe if they follow the same pattern as taxes, then early direct deposit cards could see money on Sunday or Monday!
It’s not just Metabank. REPUBLIC BANK also received payments and they’re mailing the payments they receive instead of returning them to taxpayers….FREE OF COST.

Level Headed Republic Bank has already stated THEY will mail checks. They are not returning the payments to the IRS. My guess is the reason some people’s payments ended up with Republic is because those people were late filers, so the temporary bank info created for those taxpayers by Republic was still active.

And only a small percentage of stimulus payments were sent to Republic. Most of us were able to update our bank info on the portal so no we’re not all getting paper checks.

I just don’t understand how Republic Bank is able to mail people their checks, but the banks for other tax preparers refuse to and would rather return them to the IRS to be mailed possibly delaying people’s funds more. It could be because Republic is doing it at no cost to taxpayers and the other banks don’t t wanna handle things for free. As if they don’t get $30-$50 for handling our refunds. 🙄
@Chris Hopefully I will not find myself needing another advance next year. Otherwise I will go back to doing my own taxes via Turbo Tax for free, so I can receive my refund directly from the IRS.
@RobertK Well, technically they’re right. JH and HR block did not receive people’s refunds. The banks that handle their fees did. For JH that’s Republic Bank and for HR Block it’s Axos.
@Christina No love, it doesn’t matter that you used a different bank because the IRS never received your bank info to begin with. Remember, they said if they already had your info on file you wouldn’t be able to provide new info.
@christina hey girlie! I’m assuming it’s still the glitch they’re trying fix. Also, I promised myself to not touch the tool until 1am Saturday to truly be certain my 24hrs have passed. I know my bank info went through because I got the success screen that said I was eligible for payment and it said it would be deposited to the account I provided. It showed my checking acct # the first few times I checked status afterwards.

@RobertK Hi! IDK…some are saying JH sent an email out telling people they need to update bank info on the portal. Also, no our Serve cards are not tied to Republic Bank whatsoever. I’ve used them to receive my tax refunds via Turbo Tax when I did free e-file and had no advances. Serve cards have their own DD info. Republic issued TEMP DD info to handle our refunds.
To All: You Can use ANY prepaid card your heart desires as long as you have a checking account number and a routing number that belongs to the card. Do not listen to the negative nancies.
