Okay. I’m posting here because I don’t want you all to freak out. It’s all good for most of you.
Following are two official post from the IRS and Turbo tax. Make sure to READ them and understand them.
IRS
“Taxpayers who claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit may experience a refund hold. According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue these refunds before mid-February. The IRS expects the first EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by the first week of March, if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return. Check Where’s My Refund for your personalized refund date.WMR on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go app will be updated with projected deposit dates for most early EITC/ACTC refund filers by February 22. So EITC /ACTC filers will not see an update to their refund status for several days after Feb. 15.
The IRS, tax preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates, so Where’s My Refund? remains the best way to check the status of a refund. Where’s My Refund? is only updated once daily, usually overnight, so you don’t need to check the status more often.”
TURBO TAX
“Tax topic 152:
This tax topic provides general information about the IRS processing of returns. If the IRS needs more information from you, they will follow up by a letter sent to you, there is no need for concern when you see this particular topic.
Tracking status:
The messages and bars on the Where’s My Refund site change all of the time; and sometimes the same message is displayed continuously, or the bars do sometimes disappear entirely.”Also the IRS sends out letters to anyone that they need information from with in 5-10 business days. It’s a statute they must follow.
With this being said this is for PATHERS. (EIC etc)
But if you filed a normal return all you need to do is find your accepted date (not the day you filed) and go ten business days from that date. If you have received no letter you should be fine. All this information is from the IRS site and Turbo Tax.
I did allot of reading so you poor people wouldn’t lose any sleep!
