@leisa1979 Thanks. Hopefully it works out for you and everyone. We filed 2020 but it’s always slow because I have to file injured spouse. My wife had student loans she let default before we were married and if I didn’t file that way they would take the entire refund. At first I thought that might be the reason for only receiving half but after seeing so many only receive half i doubt that’s the case.
March 17, 2021 at 12:33 pm in reply to: Only half stimulus round 3 expected amount received #4473358@leisa1979 I wish / hope that were the case. The article implied it could be using the 2019 tax return but that would yield a different amount if they halved it (we had a kid in 2020) so what we received is 1/2 of what we would expect from the 2020 return instead of the 2019 return. Sounds like a mess, good luck everyone. Hopefully they’ll send a check to cover the other half.
Yeah, I filed in Jan of last year and got mine mid April.
I was surprised to see the transcripts so quickly this time around and wondered if they proceeded without the IS for some reason and I’d have everything offset.
Hopefully they’re just getting it done fast this year though I know there’s likely to be a wait on the IS case review.Accepted 2/2
Received ID Verify letter on 02/26
ID Verified over phone 02/27
Blank Transcripts, no bars or TT on WMR as of 02/28
I should clarify I am also filing IS but that should be independent of the return processing portion.*edit; I also called on 2/26 for updated but they told me it still wasn’t 21 days from when they received the return and gave no useful information. That night I got the letter and haven’t called since. ID verify person told me they would reinsert my return back into the sequence when it was verified.
Oh good, maybe i’ll get to see my transcripts filled in in a few days then. They were blank (still are) prior to receiving the ID verify letter in the mail yesterday so no cycle codes originally either.
number on the letter for ID Verify is 800-830-5084 but they’ll ask you specific stuff from the letter like the control number etc. Not sure if they just do the verification or if they handle sending out the letters as well.
I called yesterday, no codes or anything indicating a letter. Lost bars on WMR a few weeks ago but no codes or tax topics.
I was accepted 2/2, called on 2/26 and the lady tried to tell me it hadn’t been 21 days which hindsight I think I understand though it was really day 23 not counting the accepted day. Transcript has As Of date of 2/26 which normally indicates 21 days from when they received it. In any case, she didn’t mention an ID verify and told me I could call on the 27th to get more info on the status of the return but when I got home I had the letter in the mail. ID verified this morning but figured I’d learn nothing if I called back today.
I filed 2/2 and just got the ID verify letter last night if it helps. All transcripts are blank with no code.
No idea where the ID verify step is in the process; I really hope it isn’t the first thing but with blank transcripts I feel like they haven’t done anything yet. hopefully at least the IS form is with a case worker doing their part.
What are the rules for using a taxpayer advocate and is there a minimum time required to wait before you contact them? I don’t really meet the requirements on their website such as the hardship or business aspect of it. It has only been 18 days for me so I haven’t even tried the IRS enough to meet the last requirement though I plan to call after day 21 just to ensure the IS form was received with the e-file.
Thanks for the info guys. Definitely helps with the expectations. Do you generally get back what you anticipate with a partial offset? I have the only income for this filing so I’m not sure if i should expect the full refund as the injured spouse or still some offset.
