I show on my informed delivery that my 2 amended return checks will be delivered today. They were DDD 4/26 and mailed from Philadelphia to Texas.
April 19, 2019 at 9:43 pm in reply to: We have received your tax return and it is being processed. #4324782From everything I’ve read, interest wouldn’t start until 45 days after April 15th (May 30). Interest starts 45 days after the latest of due date of the return or date it was filed if it was filed after April 15th for original filing of returns.
Interest wouldn’t amount to much, I don’t think. Unless you had a huge refund. I filed amended returns for 2016 and 2017. Both years were about $2700 refund, 2016 has $251 interest and 2017 has $147. So basically that is the interest earned for about 1 year and 2 year, respectively.

I haven’t posted in a while. Just been checking WMAR and transcripts. Overnight, both of my amended returns have DDD 4/26. On my account transcripts for those 2 years, the as of date also changed to 5/6 (had been 3/25 since I called and preemptively mailed in a corrected 8962 and 1095A for each year on 3/21, originally mailed in both returns on 2/21).
When I called them 3/22 about my 2018 8962/1095A verification letter received, they hadn’t done anything with my 2016-2017 amendeds. Still can’t see them on WMAR probably because there’s 2 years filed at the same time and not just 1?
I scrolled back a bit and saw that they made you IDV. Hopefully it will only be a couple more weeks for your DDD on your amendeds.
That timeline fits with my 2018 return, too. 4 weeks before they even looked at them and couple more weeks to actually process and DDD after sending in corrected 8962 and 1095A.
April 9, 2019 at 10:21 am in reply to: We have received your tax return and it is being processed. #4322916@Dani It is frustrating no matter what year, for sure. A previous year amended return is handled by a different department, so it’s not holding up 2018 processing. The holdup appears to be a backed up IRS. I think they need a good shot of laxative to get stuff moving more smoothly.
Hope something breaks loose with your return so you get your refund!
April 9, 2019 at 10:18 am in reply to: We have received your tax return and it is being processed. #4322914@dave At least you’re seeing some movement on WMAR. It’s a different department that handles amended returns, but that appears to be similar messages to ones we got for 2018 returns. As long as it keeps moving along and doesn’t say to call, that seems like progress. They do say 16 weeks to process amendeds. I’d say if it appears stuck for a couple more weeks, give them a call.
My WMAR for 2016 and 2017 I filed on 2/21 has only ever had the “we can’t provide info, call….” I’ve already called and sent in a corrected 8962/1095-A at their instruction. Just fyi, each return is considered/processed separately. My transcripts for those years show it was received and forwarded for processing.
I F/A 2/25 and had 1 bar-“being processed” up to 3/16.
Bar disappeared 3/16-“still being processed”.
Got a letter on 3/21 to file a new 8962 and send in with 1095-A.
Called to get clarification on what was filled out incorrectly, filled it out and mailed it on 3/22.Of course, no updates as of yet. They said 6-8 weeks to receive/process corrected form. Can’t see 2018 return transcripts, but can see account transcripts and they have prior year info, no 2018 on file and an as of date next to penalty and interest lines 3/25/2018..
I’m just trying to be patient and see what hoop they throw up in front of me next after seeing what others have been going through.

I know the standard IRS answer is 6 weeks for mailed in returns. Not sure if that applies to prior years (2017 and older) or just the current year (2018’s).
My hope is that they have separate departments that work on current returns, amended returns and prior year returns. If they have to finish all the current return mess, we could be waiting until Christmas.
