key tax return and refund dates
When can you file your taxes?
You can submit your tax return before the IRS begins processing as early as the first week of the year with many tax preparation providers. You don’t need to wait until the IRS begins accepting tax returns but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January. Tax returns filed before the IRS officially opens sit in a “queue” and are held until the IRS officially begins accepting tax returns.
Your tax return may be selected in a test batch. If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early. This can result in early direct deposits depending on the payment provider you select. Our cycle chart will update with key dates including test batch dates.
When does the IRS accept tax returns?
The IRS usually opens around the third week of January each year. They announce the opening date early in January.
The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on January 26, 2026.
When is the IRS test batch?
If you file your tax return early, it may be sent to the IRS in a test batch before the IRS has officially opened for the year. It is usually a week before the date the IRS begins accepting tax returns. This has resulted in refunds in the past that can be posted by direct deposit as early as the day after tax season opens.
When will I get my tax refund?
Early filers whose returns are accepted in a test batch can anticipate a tax refund as early as the day after the IRS opens the January filing season if your return was in the test batch. The day that the IRS deposits refunds varies for regular returns but we notice trends based on the method you chose to file and select to direct deposit. You can use our tax refund calendar or refund cycle chart to help find out when you will get your tax refund.
Where is the IRS refund cycle chart?
The IRS no longer publishes an official tax refund cycle chart. It has been eliminated and replaced with IRS FAQ. Since then, dozens of versions have popped up, some better than others.
That’s where we step in.
Get the dates, skip the guessing.
Each year, we compile the most accurate Refund Cycle Chart, built from IRS manuals, payout trends, PATH Act release dates, holidays, and real user updates, so you don’t have to guess when your refund will hit.
Check the IGMR Refund Cycle Chart and see when your money’s coming.

@Punanni patrol: wmr
What days do the wrm update ?
@Sheila_33: I researched it after I asked lol thanks. It’s for withholding and I was exempt. I believe that’s why I don’t see it in there.
@Chelletered: it has nothing to do with “being worthy” – the IRS doesn’t care about the individual taxpayer. Stop taking it so personally.
@Sheila_33: how long does this take my 570 code has the date of 2-24-25 and my 971 code has a date of 3-03-25
Does anyone else feel as hopeless and forgotten as I do? I filed and was accepted on January 23rd and I understand that nothing would happen until after the 27th and then after the path lifted but now I’m starting to feel like I’m not worthy because I feel like I’m the only one that’s not getting any updates. I know I’m not the only one so please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying. I just don’t know what other hope to hold on to right now.
@Josey1092: A 570 is a review code, most likely they’re looking at income and credits. The 971 is possibly a letter explaining what they’re looking at and may request info to validate what you submitted.

Path act
I have not received a notice at this time. The days in 570 and 971 are 2/24. If I don’t update Saturday on WMR and Friday on Transcripts I will be requesting a TAS. I will report back with information! Search my comments to find out more! “DTM” would be a good search
@LoveMy3Munchkins: Most likely. Congratulations!
@Steve: 806 is a w2 so if not applicable, it doesn’t make a difference.
I have a 570 and a 971 code on transcript I filled my taxes January 2nd the 570 code has a different date that the 971 code , both with zero as the amount . What does this mean I have been getting different answers please someone help me
Also WMR still has path message. Need help
Hi Guys!
I filed late 2/2, was accepted same day. Transcripts updated 2/7 to all 000s. Past years keep flipping between as of 2/24/25 and their original as of date, all the way to 2015. Nothing has changed from last year. Still showing verification of non-filing. No letters or notices. I have been daily since 2020. Any idea when I may see an update? Any 2/2 filers still waiting for ANY CODE AT ALL
Can we get a thread for 570 and amending returns pleaseeee. I’m losing my mind over here 😩
@Genn: not true it’s people who have literally started receiving ddd already.
@Genn: not true at all.
@Godmachine81: following I got 846 last night for DDD 2/25 have chime as well so I hope to start chiming soon lol
To all those that have an estimated refund date in Feb, the IRS will not start issuing refunds until March. I hope this helps!!!
@Hope: I think the $25 for 5 days early still applies to those who had fees taken out as a lot of people got their deposits with fees taken yesterday. The fine print states that if you had an advance then you cannot get the 5 days early. I however am in the same boat as many others – my TT updated to “we could not expedite your return. No 5 day early fee was charged” and shows an est refund date of 2/19, but I’ve received nothing yet even though my ddd is 2/24.
My trans codes are 150,766,768. I see a lot of people with 806. My question is do I have to have the 806 to update to 846. Thanks.
I’ve been pondering the 5 day early with TT thing and confused about why anyone would opt to pay for something that is free with a NHB, but it just occurred to me. THIS is for ppl that did not pay fees up front and would be using a3rd party to process their refund after fees. This would, in theory, allow them to get their refund with priority. I get it NOW. FINALLY. DUUUUUHH! I can’t wait to see all these weeklies update and feel relieved and then stress until it hits the bank. 🥰 It is coming.
@Sheila_33: I updated last night around 1130 cst with the 846 on my transcript! Does tht make me a daily now?
I can’t check my transcripts but have no update on wmr still showing 1 bar accepted and tt 152. I’m not sure exactly what that means so was just gonna see if you guys could provide any insight. I know the last few years I have received my dd before wmr updated so just wondering if its prob the same this year?And i filed 1/28 accepted 1/29

@ImrichLOL: who did you file with?
@Hope: oh I did not read the fine print lol…they shouldn’t even give the option to pay for 5 days early if you got fees out then
So I have deduced that I am an 05 weekly, my as of date is 3/3/25. Should I update tonight for my transcripts?
@Sweethomefl:
This time I changed from a weekly to a daily, and updated on a Thursday morning with 846. Actually my transcripts were blank with no codes and last years info up until this morning and it came on completely filled out. So check your scripts daily this year! Has anyone with 2/24 got theirs with chime? I have 2/25 and chime just curious if i should expect today, tomorrow, or next week lol.
@Godmachine81: I got DDD of 2/24, filed TT, fees out of refund, $25 fee also for early deposit, going to chime, nothing yet
@Jay Jay not logged in: Tonight into tomorrow. It would be nice if it started early like it did for the dailies. :)
Just FYI my transcripts updated the other night for DDD 2/24 and I just got my deposit with Wells Fargo. It’s coming y’all! God bless.
@JoAnna:
Congratulations, I’m in Texas and I have a ddd with of 2/24, I’m still waiting for my dd to post. I paid fees upfront and didn’t do the five days early either.
My son transcripts still show all zeros with no codes, hopefully he update tonight or tomorrow. He also have a non filing status for one of his transcripts
If I filed with a tax preparer and then they take their fees and send it to my bank US Bank when would I see my refund DDD 2/25 jw
GM everyone ☀️! Putting out the good energy that the waiting weekly’s like myself get the magic code tonight going into the morning . I’ve been on this site for years and always watch and it has helped me a few times when I was confused back then . Thank you everyone and goodluck to us all waiting .
@SamfromMA: No. However, if you read the fine print of that offer from TT it does not apply if you had fees taken from your refund. But no… I file with FreeTax.
@Sheila_33: Thank you so much !!! Good luck to you and your daughter as well.
@Hope: did you pay for the 5 days early?
DD just hit Wells Fargo account. DDD 2/24 TT fees paid up front did not do the 5 days early
