Many cities have IRS offices to help you track down your refund and submit any forms or identity verification that may be required to complete the processing of your return. You can call and talk to a real live human or visit the office in person.

What can a local IRS office help you with?

When you believe your tax issue cannot be handled online or by phone, and you want face-to-face tax help IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TAC) are a good source for personal tax problems. You may be asked to provide valid photo identification and a Taxpayer Identification Number, such as a Social Security Number, to receive services.
