Thank you for the info. Holding for over 30 min so hopefully I can resolve this soon :)
@ Kourtnee
Do you also have the ‘Your return is still being processed’ message?
I filed on 1/28 and was accepted that same day. My bars disappeared on 2/4. Just have the ‘we are processing your tax return’ standard message with nothing else. I do have my refund amount still present.
Last week I called and spoke with probably 10 IRS reps. I was told anything from I should have gotten a ID verify letter last week (never did), to I got re-sequenced and would see an update this past Saturday (didn’t happen), to just hold on as the IRS was backed up and I would still get my return in 21 days.
At this point I’m pretty sure not even the IRS knows exactly what’s going on lol. I just plan to sit back and wait it out. If I get any info via mail I will update everyone.
I filed the 28th no credit just married jointly. Bars disappeared on 2/4. I’ve called & talked to multiple different people at the IRS. Heard anything from its no big deal to ID verification. Still no letter from the IRS. I’m wondering if I’m a weekly as my bars disappeared on a Saturday & I’ll get good news this Saturday. Any insight/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I see you stated you had to be ID verified. What all information did they request?
February 7, 2017 at 2:26 pm in reply to: Filed & accepted 1/18, no bars as of 2/4, no letter yet..?? #4161272I filed on 1/28 and accepted that day. No credits. Filed joint return with my wife through TaxSlayer. On Saturday 2/4 my status changed from 1 bar to the ‘your return is still being processed’. I do still show my refund amount as well.
I’ve called and talked to probably a dozen IRS agents at this point, calling a variety of numbers. I’ve been told by agents anything from wait 21 days, to I was probably randomly selected to verify my ID, to it’s not a big deal and I should see my bars return soon.
I’m also wondering if I am a weekly. I’m anxious to see what is reported over this weekend?
What all answers have all of you been given when you call and talk to someone at the IRS?
@ Jon
So since I filed on 1/28 (Saturday) it’s possible that it could have had me re-cycled? If so would I see an update this weekend?
I filed on 1/28 and my bars went away with the ‘your tax return is still processing’ statement. I called into the IRS and spoke with a lady who said I would have to go through ID verification. I called the ID verification number and was told I had to wait until I had a letter mailed to me.
So I have called and spoke with about 3 different IRS folks since then. Each one that has looked at my account says there is no notation concerning my tax refund being held up.
Needless to say at this point I’m confused as to what is going on. I’ve heard the WMR site usually gets new information on Wednesdays so maybe I will see something then?
For anyone who did get a ID verification letter when did you submit and when did you get your ID verification letter?
@Joe
What all information did they want you to verify?
Yes my expected refund amount is still present.
I found out I also will have to ID verify. Still waiting on my letter so I can call in. May I ask what all information you had to provide to ID verify?
@ Joe
What all information did they want from you?
I called the IRS ID hotline and just got off of the phone a few minutes ago. The lady wouldn’t do anything to help me. Said I either had to wait to get the actual letter or until 21 days post the date I filed my tax return. Any ideas on what I can do to convince them to push this along quicker?
I called around and talked to multiple agents today. Finally found out that I had to go through the ID verification process. Called the ID verification phone number and was told that I would have to wait until I received the actual letter from the IRS and call back in to verify my ID. So a couple of questions if anyone could answer for me:
1. Has anyone received the actual letter from the IRS stating that they had to do ID verification? If so when did you file and when did you get the letter?
2. Has anyone gone through the ID verification process? If so what all types of questions/information was needed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@ John
I remember reading the identity theft thing as well. If memory serves me right I believe the individuals talking about that said the refund amount disappeared on the left? From what the IRS agent told me and what I’ve read it seems that if the refund amount stays on the left that a DDD is coming soon.
I can’t imagine everyone is getting manually reviewed that has seen this as it would be significantly over the normal threshold of returns manually reviewed.
Fingers crossed we get good news on Wednesday :)
DanielA,
Was your return pulled for further review? Did the IRS request any additional information from you or was your refund just delayed?
KllyH516,
I think this should be news that we will see a change soon and possibly even DDD this week! From reading other posts I’ve found on the web it seems there is a mass amount of individuals getting this when they check their status. Too many for it to all be manual checks. Everything I’ve read and from what the IRS agent told me is if the refund amount disappears then it is a manual check if it stays it is the system finishing the processing steps.
Additionally, the IRS agent I spoke with said currently the IRS is at about 13 days processing refunds from the first day they began accepting (I believe he said that was 1/23 but not sure). So hopefully we will have more info soon.
Hopefully more folks comment so we can get a good thread of information going.
