      As of dates on transcripts are to remind the system that something needs to be done on that return by that date. If not, that date will push out to allow itself more time to get things done. If it still isn’t able to resolve whatever action needs to be taken, then someone manually has to resolve and get it back into processing.

        @Brend b: Without an advocate, it could take around 4 to 5 months. They work on audits in order of received.

          An offset won’t delay a refund, it will be taken when the refund is released.

                @sheila33

                The 424 is requesting a closer look at possibly your credits, the 810 was a freeze on the whole refund amount, and the 811 is releasing the withholding you paid in. The 971 is a notice telling you that they are holding the credits for further review but allowing the withholding to be released. If the 424 changes to a 420, then you will receive a cp75 asking for documentation to verify dependents.

                  @sheila33

                  The PATH Act mandates that the IRS not issue any refund on tax returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until February 15th.
                  All current year tax returns that claim EITC and/or ACTC filed before February 15th, will contain a C- freeze on the account, to hold the refund.The C- freezes will be systemically released on February 15th for modules processed daily, and on the first Thursday after February 15th for modules processed weekly. If February 15th falls on a Thursday, both daily and weekly modules will be systemically released on the 15th.

                    @Denae1001: You may want to talk to your employer and check. I thought perhaps it could be because of the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” but I’m unsure of how that is going to affect individual pay stubs. Please let us know what you find out.

                      @sheila33

                      I file with a 1099 every year, I am self employed and I use FreeTaxUSA to walk me thru the steps. It also figures out the self employment tax I have to pay that is taken out of my refund. and adjusts an allowance for the mileage I have. If you’re using any kind of tax site, they will walk you thru the steps as you answer questions about your income.

                        @sheila33

                        From what I’m reading from various tax sites, you can’t efile a return with non taxable income and it will have to be mailed in. There are certain things when you efile that will red flag and will reject the return and no taxable income is one of them.

                              Oh well. At least you’ll hopefully see something pretty soon. I hardly get on the site anymore, just to check if a few of the regulars finally got their refunds. On the good side of it, I know a hell of a lot more about audits than I ever wanted to.

                                  The tax advocate told me that there may be a problem with someone else trying to claim the kids on their return. My guess would be their paternal grandmother, since she has all their info. She also told me that I have sent everything in I need for verification on their being mine but the audit dept is extremely backed up and since I honestly told her I was not suffering any hardship I may end up having to wait for a bit. I pretty much have resigned myself to the fact that it is possibly going to take longer but would just like it to be done with

I’m supposed to get assigned an advocate today after waiting a week for any contact. Was hoping to see you had updated to more positive news.

                                          Lets hope that damn 420 drops off. I have seen 3 other people have that code drop off in the last week and update to a ddd. And they were dailys so maybe our time is coming. So you have literally stuck at a 3/5 as of date for the last few weeks? Mine would update to a 3/12 and then go right back to the 3/5, then 3/19 and right back to the 3/5, and then 3/26 and then right back. I would really like to get off the damn 3/5.

                                            Didn’t your ta give a deadline for the 15th for them to make a decision? No news is good news maybe. I thought possibly in my case the sheer fact of there being 5 kids to verify would be why its dragging for me. Just unbelievable how this tax year is going. Let me know if you hear something. I don’t get on here as much anymore cause its so damn depressing but I do get an email when you reply

In the morning it moves ahead but by noon it moves right back to mar. 5th. Tamara said that date is the day they either have to tesolve it or extend another week

Trying to focus on other things. Thinking I’m going to paint my house lol. And I am tryng to get my mustang started. It has sat for 6 months and I can’t get the key to turn in the ignition. Anyway, let me know if you guys see any change. Luckily we can see our transcripts so that is a big plus.

                                                      As far as processing time I have seen anywhere from 2 weeks to 12 weeks. Lets all hope since its early in the year they will resolve these and move on to the real crooks.
