I know this is really long, but it’s worth the read. I researched the heck out of this to be sure I was posting factual information in order to clarify some statements made by other commenters on this thread.

TL;DR: SBTPG never said that they only disburse after 2:30 PM Pacific time. According to the actual SBTPG website, they set up everything in advance so that you don’t experience any delays (on their end) when receiving your refund.

Just to clear up some questions and confusion, the info pasted from “SBTPG’s website” that said, “When IRS or state tax funding has been received, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group will release check print authorizations and direct deposit disbursement records beginning at 2:30 PM Pacific time.” actually came from the following link:

      https://accountants-community.intuit.com/articles/1612603-when-do-sbtpg-bank-product-checks-and-direct-deposit-disbursements-get-released-to-participants

This information was not posted by SBTPG and it is not stated anywhere on their website. The article that makes this claim is actually written by a member of the Intuit professional community (i.e. an accountant, tax professional, etc.). Anyone can write an article there if they create a professional account.

      Per SBTPG’s website (https://help.sbtpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/230084467-How-long-does-it-take-to-get-my-refund-):
“There is no delay associated with the Refund Transfer and it may actually help you get your money faster, depending on your circumstances. The answer depends on whether or not you have a bank account.” and “Usually 1 to 2 days before a refund is scheduled to arrive, the IRS sends a pre-notification of the refund amount to TPG. The IRS does not deposit the money at this time, but it is only a notification that the refund is on its way. We set up the disbursement upon receiving that pre-notification so that the money reaches the taxpayer on the same day it would have if the money was deposited directly from the the IRS into the taxpayer’s bank account.”

I don’t say any of this to argue with anyone or hurt feelings or anything; I just want everyone to understand that the information isn’t true. I would hate for anyone to feel discouraged or to panic when 5:30 PM rolls around each day and they don’t see any updates on the website or in their bank accounts.

I can say from experience that I have had my refund deposited one to two days early in past years, however, I can’t remember specifics. I hope everyone’s individual situations work out until they get their refunds. I know how stressful it is when you need the money and don’t have it.

Apparently my other comment is awaiting moderation, so I’ll apologize in advance if there end up being multiple copies of the same comment.

          Oh, and here’s my info:

          Filed 2/17/19 via TurboTax
          Accepted on 2/17/19
          DDD: 2/27/19
          PM: American Express Bluebird

And my fees are being taken out of my refund by SBTPG also.
