My bars just disappeared today with the message of, “Your tax return is still being processed.” To date, I have received *zero* letters from the IRS.
This is going eerily similar to my filing in 2014. I filed in mid February that year, and was wrongly slapped with two 570 codes on my transcripts (when one could still pull transcripts online). I heard from a tax advocate that the 570s were due to my moving, and the IRS not processing the SSA data tapes in time to verify my employment. In 2015, I filed in mid March with zero problems. I did this on the advice of the tax advocate the year before. She said the fraud filters are loosened by mid March and that things would go more smoothly, which they did. I only filed in mid February this year because everything I read online stated, “File before someone else files for you.”
Anyone else lose bars, with the same message, and got a letter? Looking for some hope here. Cheers!

I used VITA to file my Federal and State taxes, but decided to file in mid February instead of mid March (like I usually do) for fear that some scammer would file for me before I did.
I filled on 2/18. I figure my return was received on 2/19. The IRS2Go app has only ever shown me Return Received. Sadly I cannot order return transcripts for 2015 as of yet either. My fear is that I’m one of the “lucky” 700,000+ people who were part of the IRS security breach last summer. Any one else in the same boat as me? No movement; no transcripts? Have you received form 5071C about being the victim of identity fraud?
