I had sent my paper return in March, but it was never secured. I call collections in IRS (nicest dept ever!!), and they notated on my IRS account I would be e-filing because it was not secured,so it wouldn’t be a duplicate return.

          Shelly,
you CAN e-file. BUT you have to pay a tax preparer off the IRS website. You can e-file current year and 2 years prior. On the IRS website you can find all this information. I paid almost $300 to have someone file prior year each. It clearly states you can e-file past due returns and gives you an option to search where you live. I called multiple tax locations until I found one. Another girl on my fb group just got her returns past year e-filing too.

You can’t e file 2017, only 2018 and 2019 unfortunately. Or else everyone on this thread would of done thag

My preparer uses taxslayer pro. On their website it states starting January 2020, you can e-file 2019, 2018, and 2017 tax returns :) So, yes it can be done.

I filed both and both were accepted by IRS immediately today! I went through a preparer here in town the IRS lists on their website as able to file past returns :)

diagnosed with Lupus barely worked. IRS stated I did not need to file my 2018 then just 2017 as my bf supported my kids and I through 2018, he did not use them as a tax deduction either. Paper filed IRS recieved in PO box week of IRS shut down.nothing was ever secured. Talked to collections at IRS yesterday, she said the system says I am still liable for 2018 tho IRS said I wasn’t.her suggestion was to pay up front to e-file, so tomorrow Im efiling both years returns.

I filed on 02/17/2020. After a week, my bars disappeared on WMR so I called IRS. They stated I needed to file 2017 and 2018 taxes and my 2019 refund was being held. Asked why I didn’t file. 2017, my student loans in default, after researching, my return was rejected the whole time. I did not check up on it as I assumed it went to dept of ed. Turns out it was rejected from the beginning. OOPS!
