Same boat! The IRS screwed us on payment #1 too — offset despite an IS form. Received payment #2 in two parts. Their grubby little hands were ready to offset. Past experience says we’re in for trouble, FAQs say that both spouses on a joint return will have the same EIP information, and we are proof that’s not the case.
Has anyone been able to speak to an employee at the IRS recently, like after they changed their answering to service to say they are “unable to provide live assistance”? I’ll call & wait, but I’d rather not be stuck in a hold loop that eventually disconnects. TIA!
E-filed 8379 w/return, accepted 2/27/20. No refund yet, no visible movement, and stimulus was offset 100% despite the IRS already being in possession of my 8379. I can’t offer advice or guidance because I am literally the poster child for doing things by the book so you can get screwed over anyway.
