My friend filed 1/22, accepted same day. He’s been on the path message since then. He filed with the same dependants this year, same address. The only thing that was different is that he had a different w2 this year from changing jobs. He received a letter this morning from the IRS saying he’s being audited & needs to provide supporting documents for the eic & actc & the American opportunity credit. I understand double checking the eic & actc. But he’s not a student & I reviewed his return & he didn’t claim the American opportunity credit. So I’m extremely confused & not sure what to tell him. Has this happened to anyone else? He’s calling tomorrow, but I’ve never seen this before.
